Though despite his tall stature, the Jedi Apprentice has always been more on the scrawny side. The training he has been subject to near his whole life has helped put more meat on Zhar-Khal's bones, but it's not that quite impressive yet. He may be strong, but he's pretty much given up on the looks of it. Instead, Zhar is more lanky; thin and tall and very ungraceful about it. He has a mop of wiry hair on his head, blonde in color, with length that reaches down past his ears. It's usually kept messy, as the young man doesn't think to put care into it, and it often looks like he just came in from a sparring session. Below this there's a pair of intense, narrow green eyes, sitting upon a very angular face with a tall, somewhat flat nose. Like the rest of Zhar-Khal, the young man’s hands are large, with long and thin fingers, slightly scarred with nicks and cuts from sparring and various missions. As a Jedi Apprentice, Zhar-Khal wears the robes of the Jedi Order daily, unless a mission calls for something else. As a Jedi of Corellian descent and a member of the Corellian sect of Jedi, the robes that he wears are green in nature, like his brethren. The outer cloak is an olive drab of green, both otherwise of the same shape and functionality of any other Jedi cloak. His tunic is is a much lighter shade of green, and much more faded, almost cream with only a hint of the traditional, Corellian color. Zhar’s pants are white, and he wears a brown leather belt with a golden buckle, and brown leather boots that travel almost up to his knees. The only minor difference in Zhar-Khal’s robes is a padded vest, the same color as his tunic. The vest is open, yet belted down along with the rest of his upper robes. It does little in the way of protection, but does add some extra warmth for the young man. Personality Profile Zhar-Khal is what one would expect out of a Jedi Apprentice; the young man is kind-hearted, gentle, and considerate of others. He shows humility when it would be easy to claim credit, and has a strong moral compass towards what is good and right, guided by the Code of the Jedi Order. As a member of the Corellia Sect of the Jedi Order, Zhar-Khal holds a strong patriotic streak for his home system and has not sworn off familial ties, such as those to his mother, and grandfather. The young man is efficiently independent, almost to the point where he operates best alone and has done so on a number of occasions. By all accounts, he should make a fine Jedi Knight, someday. However despite all of this triumphs, Zhar-Khal is not without his faults. The same problems that plague him plague a lot of individuals his age, both inside and outside of the Jedi Order and its Corellian offshoot. Zhar-Khal had be impatient and brash, with a stubborn streak that is hard to beat down. Often his mind can wander, to across the Galaxy and into the future, with little regard to his present surroundings. The young man shows little regard for his own personal safety as well, pushing well past the point of bravery and nobility. When it comes to dealing with emotions and trauma, Zhar-Khal has a tendency to push everything deep within, and leave it unresolved. Such a habit lets the Apprentice roll easier with the punches life can throw, but it does leave him on the more serious side, with little levity to give or show. Despite his lack of levity however, Zhar-Khal can be a bit idealistic, which many assume comes with his age. His grandfather taught him how to see the good in all people, and how to treat all with kindness. That everyone, no matter their errors, could be redeemed. That people are generally good, just broken inside. Though some would see such ideals as naivety, in typical Corellian fashion Zhar-Khal would call the people whom would assume such naive themselves. These things have led to Zhar-Khal showing great, unshakeable loyalty to his friends and comrades, as well as fellow Jedi. He shows great empathy to the aforementioned groups, and is willing to go to any necessary lengths to help those that he can. Background Father • Corvo Grane, Lord of the Sith - Cult of Strife, 54 Mother • Eliana Nourdi, Accountant for Corellian Engineering, 51 Siblings • N/A Other Important Connections • Kazar Grane, Grandfather, Jedi Master, Deceased [NPC] Overall History • As a Corellian Jedi, Zhar-Khal Nourdi comes from a long line of Force-sensitive Corellians. However, not long before Zhar was born, his father Corvo Grane was seduced to the darkside of the Force. It was only through a timely intervention by Corvo’s own father, a Jedi Master named Kazar Grane, that Corvo was driven off-world before he could do any harm to the family, or to the Jedi on Corellia. Once Zhar was born his mother, a woman by the name of Eliana Nourdi, and Kazar both agreed that for his own safety, he should be raised in the Corellian Enclave. As the boy was Force-sensitive, he would be spending much of his life there as it was. Though Zhar-Khal was raised in the Enclave, he was not without his family. Eliana would visit most often on birthdays and holidays, while Kazar could see Zhar more often, and would check on him whenever he could find the time. As a youngling, Zhar got along with most of his other classmates, though none made a lasting impression as a friend that he would keep for years to come. He showed a great aptitude for wielding a lightsaber, but nothing beyond that of his age, or simply natural talent. Zhar had heard it whispered among the instructors that his father had been talented with a lightsaber as well, and when the boy asked Kazar about his father, Kazar told him that Corvo had been murdered by a Dark Jedi. This was an acceptable answer that needed no questioning, for the young Zhar-Khal. As expected on Zhar’s twelfth birthday, Kazar took the boy as his apprentice. Given the rapport the two already shared, the transition was easy for their relationship.Kazar himself, while unquestionably a Green Jedi, made a point to answer to the High Jedi Council as well, and acted as a sort of unofficial go-between for the Corellian Jedi and the main Order. To this end, Kazar and Zhar-Khal took assignments outside of their home system of Corellia when they were needed. Otherwise, Kazar was busy teaching Zhar how to fly and how to fight, both of which the boy took well too, as a full-blooded Corellian. By this point and time, the War between the Sith Empire and the Republic was already in full swing, but Kazar made a point of staying far away from the fighting, at the very least until Zhar was ready. Ready or not, however, the War would come for the pair. Not long after Zhar-Khal had built his own lightsaber at the age of fifteen, the Battle of Taris had broke out. After that, the entire Jedi Order was called to join the fight against the Sith and Empire. Zhar and Kazar were a few of the only Green Jedi to answer the summons of the entire Order, but they never hesitated to do what they were told. Given Kazar’s tactical skills, he was assigned as a general over part of the Republic Army, and Zhar-Khal was at his side the entire time as they liberated worlds, retreated from battles, and generally fought on the front lines of the War. The pair would be late to come to the Battle of Coruscant at the end of the War, but Kazar was able to rally what Green Jedi were left on Corellia at the time, and bring in the extra reinforcements. And then, having survived the War relatively unscathed, Kazar and Zhar-Khal were assigned to track down a missing Jedi on Nar Kaaga. The mission itself ended up being a false lead, and the false leaded ended in an ambush. Though the Empire and the Republic were trying to maintain the peace, it seemed that one Sith Lord didn’t much care. Zhar could tell that it was someone Kazar recognized, yet, the man was dressed in a suit of armor that seemed it was there as much to keep life support functions running as to protect him during combat. In the end, Kazar sacrificed himself so that Zhar could escape, and the Apprentice ran back to Coruscant to report on what had happened in person. It was the first time he had ever seen or set foot in the Jedi Temple itself, and in the few weeks since Kazar’s death, Zhar-Khal has been roaming the halls, trying to keep himself busy sharp. |
