Name: Idu Lanud
Race: Ithorian
Age: 46
Height: 6' 2"
Weight: 190 lbs
Birth place: Ithor
Appearance:
Faction: Jedi
Rank: Master
Bio:
Idu was born on Ithor, a son of Deneb Idu, and her husband (are they even called 'husband's in Ithorian culture?), an old and wise Nature Priest named Hiwaw, who led a herdship. Idu was loved and cared for, along with his two older brothers, Miza and Maa'zoa.
His Father, being a nature priest, was an adept in the Force, and taught his sons some minor skills, and taught them how to sense the presences of other beings, and how to heal minor wounds. His brothers also taught him how to repair machinery, as the herdship required constant maintenance. He saw repairing broken equipment as a challenge, and he always loved challenges. Like all other Ithorians, they were a peaceful herd, with no wish to harm other life, but unlike other herds, they were not afraid to defend themselves. They practiced a self defense form that utilized a wooden staff.
When he was only a season old, (about five standard years old), a rough-looking group of people claiming to be traders landed on the herdship and requested an audience with Hiwaw to discuss a trading relationship. Hiwaw, not suspecting anything, agreed to meet with them, and took Miza and Maa'zoa with him, to show them how to negotiate. Idu wanted to go, but Hiwaw told him he was not yet old enough. Idu, being a curious young Ithorian, crawled through an air vent in the ceiling and watched.
Instead of negotiating for trade, however, the two thugs in the room (the rest remained at their ship) demanded that Hiwaw reveal the Ithorian's agricultural secrets to them; they wanted to sell them on the Black Market. Hiwaw refused, and the thugs shot him and grabbed Miza and Maa'zoa, planning to use them as hostages and demand for the secrets from other knowledgeable Ithorians.
Shocked, Idu stared in horror, but then the thin metal vent collapsed under his weight, and he fell into the room, right on one of the thugs, knocking him out. The other started to pull out his blaster, but Miza and Maa'zoa, who had been trained a small bit in the Force by their Father, let out a loud bellow, amplified by the Force, and the thug was thrown against the wall and knocked unconscious.
The Ithorian authorities came and arrested the rest of the thugs, and impounded their ship. A day later, a Jedi came by to investigate, and to try to trace the source of the black market. The Jedi sensed that Idu and his brothers were Force Sensitive, and he invited Idu to come back to the Jedi Temple for Training, as the other two were too old for training. Idu, knowing there wasn't much else he could do on the herdship, and that it only reminded him of his father, agreed to go with the Jedi.
Idu was welcomed into the academy, and he felt more at home then he ever had, and he felt as if he could make a difference here. Although like most other Ithorians, he had no wish to harm other life, he practiced with a lightsaber, like all other Jedi, although he was not very good with it, but he was very talented with his use of the Force.
When he was two seasons old, about ten standard years, he found out about double bladed lightsabers, and started practicing with it. Although most other beings saw double bladed weapons as harder to use and less precise, Idu saw it opposite. It reminded him of the staffs he had been trained with back with his herd. He loved using the double bladed training lightsaber, and after months of minor burns and stings from practicing with it, he had become very skilled with it, and usually beat most of the other students in sparring matches. Although he was a peaceful being, he loved to spar with the lightsaber. He did not only see it as a weapon, but as an elegant tool, and it was a challenge to use, and he still loved challenges.
When he was thirteen standard years old, a Jedi Master named Dnn'goff'en took him as his padawan. Dnn'goff'en was a member of a strange black-skinned Besalisk-like alien from the Outer Rim that Idu had never heard of, nor did Dnn'goff'en tell him. They got along well, despite Dnn'goff'en's people being warlike, and the Ithorian's pacifistic nature.
A week after Dnn'goff'en took him as his padawan, he took him to Illum, to build his lightsaber. As expected, he built a double bladed saber, while adding a few extra things, such as a mini tool storage area, and a knob that modified the length of the blade. He also made it with an extra crystal that enabled it to be used underwater, as he liked swimming.
Dnn'goff'en taught him many things, and even how to levitate himself with the Force while meditating. It took Idu quite some time to learn how to stay afloat for more then a few minutes, and he asked how his master could do it so easily. Dnn'goff'en told him that it took lots of training and practice to do it, but it also helped that his species, like the Besalisks, were descended from avians. He also taught him to have a better understanding of manipulating the air around him, and how to move many things at once, with a Force Wave. In doing this, Idu also learned that his species' already powerful yell could be amplified with the Force.
A few weeks of more training under Dnn'goff'en, and they set out on their first missions. Most of the missions were all boring, such as peacekeeping missions, or settling disputes between farmers or companies. Although they were boring, Idu felt good about himself, for he had always wanted to do good in the galaxy.
Years later, when Idu was five seasons old, about twenty-one standard years, Idu and Dnn'goff'en were sent on Idu's first real mission.
died of old age. Idu mourned him, but not for long. Through death, he had become one with the Force. Soon after, Idu completed the Jedi trials, promoted to a Jedi Knight, and sent off on his first real mission.
They were sent to the (almost) peaceful planet of Ryloth, the homeplanet of the Twi'leks. A large group of Mercenaries, having somehow managed to capture a Foray-class blockade runner, were bombarding Twi'lek villages and demanding five billion credits to stop. They also warned that if the Republic Navy was to interfere, they had set a bomb in the capital city, Lessu.
Dnn'goff'en and Idu were sent to stop the mercenaries, but when they dropped out of hyperspace in their Dynamic-class freighter, the Mercenaries assumed they were undercover Republic agents, and shot them down. They crash-landed a kilometer from Lessu, and Idu survived, but Dnn'goff'en did not. Idu mourned him, but not for long. Through death, he had become one with the Force. (((Jedi Trials, Trial of Flesh)))
Idu fled the crash site, and he almost tried to get as far away as possible from Lessu, but he knew that he had to still try to complete the mission, and despite the fear of being destroyed if the bomb went off. He set off, heading towards Lessu. (((Jedi Trials, Trial of Courage))) When he arrived at Lessu, he found that there were several well-armed Mercenaries patrolling the city, along with many droids.
He had several hundred credits, and seeking out the weakest-minded mercenary he could find, he walked right up to him. With some credits and the Force, he persuaded the mercenary to tell him everything, including where the bomb was: In a small house on the other side of the city. He made his way there, and found the bomb. It was a simple nuclear (if anything nuclear can be considered simple) device, with a basic remote-triggered detonator. He sabotaged the device, but accidentally set off a silent alarm in the process. He walked out of the building and found himself staring into the barrels of dozens of blasters. He looked up, and saw a large stone arch overhead. He threw his lightsaber at a metal rope supporting it, and dove back into the house to avoid getting hit by a blaster bolt.
After the dust cleared, he stepped back out, and began to search through the debris for any survivors and his lightsaber. One of the last remaining mercenaries charged at him from behind, and attacked Idu with a vibrosword. Idu picked up a vibrosword that one of the dead mercenaries had dropped, and they dueled for several minutes, but the mercenary was more skilled then Idu with a single-bladed weapon. Idu grabbed the mercenary with the Force, and threw him down the street.(((Jedi Trials, Trial of Skill))) The mercenary dropped his vibrosword in mid-air, and he was now unarmed. Idu was going to demand for him to surrender, but the mob of Twi'leks that came out of their houses and attacked the mercenary blocked him from getting to him. He started to turn away, but he then realized it was not the Jedi way, or the peaceful Ithorian way, to leave the man to die, even if it was what he deserved. He had a momentary vision of himself, of what he could become if he just continued to let things like that happen.(((Jedi Trials, Trial of Spirit))) He turned back, used the Force to part a way through the crowd, and then took the mercenary to the nearest hospital.
He commandeered one of the Starfighters and launched into space, then commed the Republic, telling them it was safe to come in. Fifteen minutes later, three Hammerhead-class ships dropped out of hyperspace and took care of the Blockade Runner. After docking with one, and having a quick debriefing, he launched back into space, and jumped to Coruscant.
A week after he arrived, he was promoted by the Council to Jedi Knight.
Over the years, he went on more and more similar missions, and he kept practicing with his lightsaber and Force techniques while at the Temple. He eventually became a well known and powerful Jedi Knight.
Recently, he was promoted to the rank of Master after he settled a large dispute over a planet between two alien races; he led them to a compromise and each settled on the planet, living together peacefully. He hopes to one day be on the Jedi Council, and has yet to choose a padawan.

Idu stepped out of his quarters in the Temple and into the hallway. The soft carpet felt good on his feet. He walked along the hallway, and glanced out a window at Coruscant. Speeders flew by, ships took off and landed, and he could see the crowd walking about their business on the distant ground.
He continued down the hall, and walked by one of the rooms where Younglings were practicing with their training lightsabers, their helmets had the coverings down, and they were using the Force to stop the nonlethal bolts of energy from hitting them. One of them missed the bolt, and it hit him in the shoulder. A wave of embarrassment radiated from him, and Idu chuckled quietly to himself. He then remembered that he had to take a padawan soon, and let out the Ithorian equivalent of a sigh. He had no idea who to choose. There were so many gifted students in the Order; he was having some difficulty deciding.
He headed to the Room of a Thousand Fountains, and sat down and meditated, focusing on the water, on a single droplet. It was spewed out of the fountain, and then it fell, for what felt like an eternity. Then, it hit the water with a small splash, sending out a ripple in the water. The ripple went on and on, hard to distinguish among all the other ripples, until it faded out. He concentrated on another, and it did the same as the last, and another, and another....
