Tal's return ushered in the next step of this journey, as the men had come to take them to meet with the village elder. Like the student he was, Jazen fell into step with Locke as the small group of four followed their hosts, the young padawan keeping to himself as they walked. Master Talau and the man who they'd identified as her brother Latus took the lead of their group, sticking close to the men who'd come for them as they made their way through the village.
Silence was their fifth companion for the short journey to the elder's home, Jazen's eyes watching the actions of the villagers around them as they passed. It was not much different then before; there was awe, curiosity, fear, confusion, scowling.....by his count, the village was divided in half on their reaction to them. Of course, that half that was curious and in awe lay mostly in the young and growing...the older members of the village seemed to be the ones who were angry or fearful. That made sense....if Tal and Lat were from here, then the older folk would be the ones to remember it. The new generation would not. Nor know about it unless told....and it didn't look like they'd be told.
And then there was the question about why her brother had vanished, much like the Shadow he trained to be, without so much of a word the Council for years. He must have known they'd send someone for him sooner or later....but he looked honestly shocked to see us. Could it have slipped his mind for the mission he had undertook? A question without an answer...until one was given. And Master Talau would likely handle that at the first given chance. Best leave it to her then.
The trip ended quickly with his mind on other things and they soon entered the largest building in the village. Fitting for a leader of a small village like this. Inside, a grand space awaited them, with tables spread throughout that space, a large fire burning at the far end in a well crafted hearth. One of the Cerean's took Latus away with him to clean himself up, while the rest of them were offered food and drink while they waited for the lord of the house. Following his Master's lead, Jazen took a seat beside him, taking a small apple and nibbling away at it. He hadn't realized he'd been hungry before...but when the food was put in front of him, his stomach finally decided it wanted to be heard. When the lady asked if they wished for something other then water, Jazen politely bowed his head and declined...water would sedate him for now. He kept quiet as Tal spoke, merely nodding to what she said....there was nothing worth speaking out about at the moment. Save one.
"He's family. I'm sure he'll explain to you what he's been up to eventually. He probably just needs some time to get over the surprise of running into you I think."
And after that, all they could do was wait. Latus returned soon enough, looking a lot neater then he had when they'd first met. He wasted little time in grabbing some food himself before throwing a few questions..the obvious questions, towards his sister. Respectfully, Jazen lowered his food down so she could speak without the munch, munch, munch the apple interfering with what she had to say. Instead, he quietly sipped at his water and watched his Master's reaction to this. It came as no surprise that her task was to return her brother to the order, to find out why he'd vanished into shadow for two years. Hopefully, he'd understand and come without a fuss and they could wrap up their long visit to the planet.
After they finished meeting with the Elder, of course.
