The ramp of the small transport lowered, revealing the planet of Haestrom to Zarik for the first time. He gazed out through the t-visor of his helmet, watching as the small HUD scanned, noting different points. It wasn't long before he had a read for different stats of the planet's atmosphere and climate. He walked forwards down the ramp, carrying a large pack-bag and a large case, hiding his signature weapon from view. The Dark Dragon - the prototype combat flamethrower. He felt his feet set down on the lush grass and he looked around, observing the "capital city". It was delapidated, at best. It was overgrown, and many of the buildings appeared to be crumbling. The was one thing, atleast. The defenses were still working.
He had been briefed before departure about the wildlife on Haestrom. Especially the predators. He knew somewhere out in the trees past the shield were the vicious, powerful predators. He knew they could no doubt smell him, hear him... and probably see him too. The slug thrower on his lower back seemed to grow warm, letting him know it was there. He knew, however, that it was his subconscious.
He dropped is bag near the entrance to a satellite relay room, before opening the case to reveal the glistening, dark grey flame thrower. He kneeled, pulling the heavy tanks onto his back, strapping them securely to his waist and chest, before picking up the hand piece. It was heavy. It felt like a real weapon to him.
He had his rather simple orders - eliminate flora and fauna in the emplacement to prepare for the rest of the Blood Pack. He looked around, staring at all the plants growing up the sides of the walls. He would make short work of this. He flicked the safety off on the flamethrower, before pressing the trigger, sending a jet of flames to a nearby wall, tracing a line across it to ignite the plants. He watched as the flames raced along the creepers, tracing their way along the outer wall, burning all those in the path. Soon the outer wall of the base was a ring of flames, the vines and creepers, all inter-twined, lighting each other, burning themselves off the wall.
He moved through the buildings for hours, setting fire to all the invasive plants that were trying to take over the buildings. It was almost like an enemy attacking, trying to pull down the buildings. He sighed for a moment, placing the Dark Dragon on the ground, soon followed by the tanks and then his helmet. He ran a gloved hand through his sweaty dark hair, looking around at his handy work, before looking up at the sky. He wondered how long it would be before others joined him.
