Birth place: Ithor

Aamaw is quite wizened in appearance and most people who look at him recognize immediately that it has been his will that has held this place together for the last twenty-eight years. Like most Ithorians, his pacifism has prevented any lasting scars on his body, and he is usually clad in simple clothes woven from the locally grown Bantha wool.
Personality: Aamaw seems to most quiet and reserved, preferring to spend long periods meditating with the Bafforr trees and working with the plants and animals of his ship. This is somewhat misleading, however, as he is known to spend a great deal of time singing to Mother Jungle's inhabitants as he tends to their needs, so he tends to be a little hoarse. He is deeply troubled by the rise of the Sith as a threat against the Republic, as his beloved Ithor is in a place of strategic importance, and the Sith have no qualms about destroying the entire ecosystem if it would suit their needs.
Like most Ithorians, Aamaw is polite and humble, politely offering to help when he can and sincerely bowing his head and apologizing if chastized. If fact, he has only raised his voice in anger once, and that to a young man who had carved the name of his girlfriend into a tree, and he likes to keep it that way.
Occupation: Priest/Healer/Grounds-keeper
Rank: Herd-leader
Bio: Like all Ithorians, Aamaw was born far above the jungles of his home. He was one of the few force sensitives to be born to his herd in the last two generations, and was selected to follow in the footsteps of the herd's priest in his early childhood, where he showed a reverence for the plants and animals beyond that of his fellows. In a society where every child is raised communally, it was fairly easy for Aamaw to find himself under the tutelage of not only the former herd master, but everybody who was particularly skilled at what they did. As the community's healer, it would be his job to know as much about everything as he could, to help every member of his society do the best job they were able.
As he grew older, his countenance started to change. By ten years of age, he was no longer the happy-go-lucky child most of the other children were, he was starting to realize that he had been set apart, singled out for a purpose that was not entirely clear to him. He still could not fathom the concept of leading these people, but he was starting to grasp that he was different.
When he was twelve, he started training more earnestly with the herd's priest. He was taught how to heal, how to listen, and how to talk. It was slow work, but he eventually managed to put the worst of it behind him. He was often told to meditate with visitors, or act as a guide if they were lost. As he trained and studied, he slowly started to understand why he was set apart. His mind slowly started to grasp what was being asked of him.
At the age of fifteen, he was told the entirety of what was in store for him, the effects his decision would have on his herd, and, most importantly, that he would lead them. He was overwhelmed by the enormity of this choice and went to meditate upon the consequences of it in the central dome. Like usual, the sight calmed him almost immediately, and the forest's music filled his ears as he sat next to a small pool by the Bafforr trees. The grove dominated the rest of the forest, filling his thoughts and assuaging his fears. They were old, very old, and were not going to pass the yoke of leadership to someone who was not ready to receive it. Nor was their faith in him misplaced. His concerns addressed for the time being, he simply meditated, communing with the environment around him and simply enjoying himself for a while. When he returned to his elder, he was ready to accept the burden that was lain before him.
After that day, he didn't worry about leading his people any more. He knew he was not perfect, He knew he would make mistakes and possibly get some of his people killed, and the gravity of that responsibility was with him every moment of every day. But he also knew that he was chosen for the position he was in because the people, the trees, and his elder believed that he was able to perform his duty.
The other change was the way his people treated him. When he asked for something to be done, they deferred to him. They would give advice, but he had the final say. He was far from used to this, and it took him several years before he was comfortable with it. It was a sign of their faith in him, however, so he accepted it, despite his misgivings. He was not yet the leader of the herd, but he was the apprentice of their healer, the second in line, and he had the help of the Bafforr trees. The next years were very trying for Aamaw as he slowly started to come into his own. He began to understand the world around him, to understand the people around him, and he found that he loved it all.
The first time he explored another planet was in 3641BBY, when he was twenty-four Coruscant Standard years old. There were many opportunities to do such earlier, but he had never taken the time before. Corellia, the planet they were orbiting, was a marvel. The city was fast-paced, it's people rushing by each with the weight of the world on their shoulders. And the wilderness... He had no words to describe his love of the Corellian wilderness. It was so vast, so immensely huge in comparison to the ship he had spent his life on, it blew him away. This experience started giving him a bit of perspective in relation to the lessons his healer had given him. It also helped him understand the Herdship's frequent guests, having been a peak into the world they were running from. After this experience, he decided to keep up on the events of the galaxy and visit those worlds he was orbiting. This decision would prove invaluable.

RP Sample: Aamaw loved it when the habitat's sprayers came on, simulating a gentle rain for the world he loved. The air became fresher, the birds quieted, and all that could be heard was the soft patter of rain drops against the leaves and the idle flowing of the streams, rivers, and waterfalls. He slowly walked along the paths of his home, listening and rapturously enjoying the simple sensation. He was home; he loved every bit of it.
He encountered a young boy in his wanderings, who had been seperated from his parents. The boy was drenched and miserable, crying in one of the many meditation hollows. He knelt down next to the boy and placed his hand on the boy's shoulder. "Why are you crying, little one?" he asked softly. "The jungle is here. It knows where to find what you have lost." His voice was as soothing as he could make it, the gentle stereo effect echoing softly in the small glade. The boy looked up and stared at the Ithorian, terror and anger filling his eyes and voice as he cried out, "I hate this place! I just want to find my Mom and Dad and go home!"
He sighed, his expansive lungs emptying in barely a second. "I see." Had the boy been older, old enough to understand the jungle and it's unusual ways, Aamaw might have pushed the boy to ask the jungle himself. Instead he asked the jungle surrounding them aloud, "Where are his parents? Where have they wandered to?" He repeated the questions to the trees who formed the heart of this environment using the force, and asked them to comfort the boy. The trees responded and filled their little meditation grove with calm. They told the pair that the boy's parents had retreated from the habitat when the showers started, and were in their quarters waiting for the rain to pass.
Aamaw took the boy's hand and said, "See? You need not be afraid here. Just ask, the jungle will help you if it can. Now let us go find your parents." The boy perked up, and the two of them walked along the many paths toward the harsh metal world surrounding the habitat.
