This is just a test for Ewan Remington and some of the other various Magdalene Tech I am working on.
Jump in if you like. You're invincible.
The Cathedral Secondus sat in deep space. It was a second home for those that couldn't reach Maltherion III. It had everything that the Temple Primus had, admittedly, slightly lower quality, and much smaller, but it still had everything.
The Cathedral was a second base. The Sith were making it difficult to reach Maltherion, so most people travelled to the Cathedral. It had trading centres, hospitals, churches for the Magdalene supporters. Everything a 'floating city' needed.
The Cathedral was situated on top of a massive dreadnaught. Like most Magdalene Tech, it wsn't very combat orientated. It was a sacred place. It was however, heavily armed, should anyone try to attack it.
A small shuttle, bearing the Magdalene colours dropped out of hyperspace close to the Cathedral and flew along the side, allowing the inhabitants a nice long look at the grand ship.
It was blue and gold, the dark blue almost blending in with space, but the gold details really shining thanks to the sun. Despite the size, it was a beautiful size.
The shuttle eventually reached the fron of the ship and turned to face the hanger. The large corvette sized doors opened and revealed a bustling cargo bay. Trading ships and Magdalene Shuttles alike were parked and people were bustling to and fro. The shuttle passed through the shield that kept air and gravity and the shuttle stooped to a crawl. It was designated a spot which it found quickly. VIP section at the back of the bay. The shuttle flew over and gracefully set down. The shuttle doors opened and the passengers disembarked.
Ewan stepped out of the shuttle first. He quickly readjusted his robes so that he was comfortable and stepped to the side to allow the other passengers off. First came a squad of Honour Guard. These were the elite of the Bishops. Troops that excelled at close combat, more so than Bishops. They had lightsabers, but were not force users. They walked out and moved aside. Finally, came a number of high ranking brothers and sisters. Not the leaders of departments, but high ranking officials.
Ewan heard the door to the VIP bay open and the Captain of the Cathedral Secondus walked out. Captain Harak Molova. Ewan walked up him and the two of them embraced one another.
"Ewan. It's good to see you again friend." He said.
Ewan pulled back from the hug. "Harak. How are things?"
"They were quiet. Until the Council told me we had some VIP's coming. Then everyone got really excited."
Ewan chuckled slightly. "Yeah sorry. The Council believes there should be a backup, should anything happen to Maltherion.
If you'll come with, I'll take you to them."
The two of them walked a short distance and rounded the shuttle. The noise inside the bay was impressive.
"Superiors. This is Harak Molova. Captain of the Cathedral Secondus. Harak, these are the superiors of each department from the Council."
"Superiors." Harak said bowing slightly before putting both hands over his watch.
"Captain Molova. This is a grand ship." One of the councillors said.
"Oh, I am. The Cathedral Secondus is the best ship there is."
"I should hope so. However, I am curious. How do you maintain discipline?"
Ewan saw Harak tense up slightly. It was looking like the Councillors would start interrogating him here.
"Well... having nine kilometers of ship to keep, I'm a little looser on the rules and regulations than other Captains. I still keep security as high as possible, but other things like duty shifts and uniforms, I'm not that bothered about."Harak said. He noticed the concerned look on the councillors' faces and quickly continued. "Obviously, I have a a limit. They must wear the uniofmr and it must look clean and tidy, but I'm not bothered about the petty things. Also, duty shifts have a leeway of twenty minutes."
The looks on the councillors faces remained, but reduced slightly. "Well, if that works for you...."
The conversation was disrupted by a loud alarm that lasted five seconds. A further five seconds later, a loud explosion resonated around the hall. The Honour Guard ignited their lightsabers and surrounded the councillors. They looked concerned and back towards the shuttles.
Ewan and Harak roared with laughter. The Councillors turned to face the two of them. Ewan allowed himself a good laugh before slowly regaining himself.
"Easy guys. De-activate those. It's really not necessary."
Harak attempted to compose him aswell. "I'm very sorry Councillors. I should've told you. A number of the merchants here sell weapons and explosives. However, the trade centres enforce a test before sale policy. Alarms are are sounded before any dangerous materials are tested. You need only be worried if there is an explosion and the alarm follows."
The Councillors regained their composure. They briefly nodded at the Honour Guard who deactivated their lightsabers and stashed them.
"Councillors, if you would please follow these men. They shall show you to your sector of the ship." Harak said as a group of crusaders walked in.
The Councillors and the Honour Guard left the room, leaving Harak and Ewan there.
Ewan waited until the doors were blosed before he turned to Harak. "What the hell was that!"
"How am I supposed to know! I told the merchants no weapons testing for at least two hours!"
"Find out who did it. Reprimand them. I'm going to report back to Maltherion."
Ewan went to walk out before turning back to Harak, "Harak, sorry. It is good to see you though."
He walked out and wandered through the corridors towards a lift. He headed up to the bridge. He exited the life onto the grand looking bridge. Pictures hung from the walls of previous commanders and pictures of Maltherion and the temple. He walked over to communications console and sent a brief message to Maltherion.
He nodded a quick thanks to the comm officer before leaving for the Cathedral.
