He slowly stepped forward until he could slip into the pilots seat, once seated he nodded to her comment about trust. He listened and simply nodded to her statements, his eyes shifted to look out on Ziost. He contemplated a while on her words, this girl was definitely interesting to say the least. If there were anyone in the universe to take as a student it would be someone like her, someone who could understand and actually take something from what he taught an intelligent soul, not a mindless killing machine. Someone with tact.
His eyes made their way back to her, he ignores her statements for the moment they can come back to those. "I have questions of my own. Such as what is your name, you know mine i believe i'm entitled to yours. My second question, why the Sith? Are the Sith all you have known your entire life?"
He asked these questions not only out of curiosity but also to get more insight on her, she might be the only one in the universe he could actually teach. If she were to betray him well then it would be expected, such is the way of the Sith.

"Varulla'aba. But if you prefer you may call me Var."
She answered the first question quickly. It was simple, and there was only one answer. It was the second question that required thought from her. There were multiple reasons. And not all of them were appropriate for sharing.
Obviously she couldn't mention her failures and slow progress as a Jedi, or her stagnation as a Dark Jedi. She had joined the Sith to overcome those difficulties, to find power that she lacked. But admitting weakness wasn't a prospect she relished.
There were other reasons as well. Every day at the Dark Jedi enclave had been a constant reminder of her most painful betrayal. And again, admitting she'd fled from her past was to admit her weakness.
After much thought she determined the answer she'd give. She'd answer both in one statement, cutting short what she had to reveal. "I was once a Jedi. But I lacked the patience, I lacked the control over my feelings. I tried to live to their code, but I couldn't. I accepted who I was, and I broke free of my shackles."
It was the tiniest fraction of her story, and even redacted to make it more amenable to the ears of a Sith. Not even an outright lie, just a subtle shading of the truth that came as naturally to Var as breathing.

Doneeda had decided to stay in the cargo bay, figured she'd let the sith do their sith thing. But she got bored, quickly. And the ship needed attention, at very least the engines needed, on top of a complete rebuild, to have their magnetic confinement system re-aligned. Doneeda was also convinced she'd be able to get the Hyperdrive down at least a class with some "tricks" she'd learned.
Donnie strode over to the tool locker and opened it.
Than' the goddess...
She said to herself. It was well stocked. A few sockets for the wrench were missing, and there was no hammer, but aside from that, it was good enough. Donnie pulled the diagnostic pad, it was old but seemed to still work, and headed for the stairs.
Once she was up them, the first stop would be the cockpit, to plug into the control computer, and "adjust" the hyperdrive's field calculations.
As she walked towards the cockpit, she heard Var and the newcommer talking. Donnie decided to stop at the door and knock on the frame, to make sure she wasn't intruding on anything overly important.
She knocked on the door frame.
Uh, ami intrudin'?
She said, lifting the diagnostic pad up slightly when they noticed her, indicating she was actually doing something productive.

Varulla'aba...A beautiful name as well. He smiled and looked her in the eyes the entire time as a sign of respect, also it's said they're the portal to the soul, maybe if he stared intently enough he'd see Vars' soul. When she finished he nodded. "I was once a Jedi as well, they're who betrayed me." He refused to say more than that for now, suddenly a knock came on the frame near the entrance, he looked up.
The Twi'lek, he sighed and heard her question, he laughed. Amusing. He shrugs to her and stands up then looks to Var. "Time to go, we should get this underway, i don't want to be here longer than i have to be." He made his way out of the cockpit and brushed past the Twi'lek on his way out. "If you somehow die before we get back Doneeda make sure you dispose of this embarrassment of a ship."
He moved to the galley, he could feel the Devaronian there. "Time to go, you're carrying the bags, deal with it." He went to the room of the last member, the youngest apparently and the one he hadn't met, he slams his fist against the door. "We're leaving, you can come or stay here and blow up with Doneeda" He shook his head then made his way out of the ship to stand near Kayn and allow his little group to get what they need ready.

Donnie just shook her head. The sith didn't seem to be ones to realize the value of somebody who could take a bucket to a beast given a few hours and a wrench.
She shrugged, it wasn't important. The ship did have potential. It had a large engine room, lots of extra space for goodies, and a hyperdrive that was particularly modifiable. The engines were old, but huge, it being a freighter. A few tweaks, adjustments to the rcs system and its magnetic confinement fields, and she'd have a heck of a sleeper on her hands.
In fact, the belief that it was a bucket was actually good. Perfect for smuggling.
Donnie decided to move in and sit down in the left seat, plugging the pad into the diagnostic port on the console, interfacing with the command computer directly.
If you guys nee'me, call. I'll be fixin' this bucket.
Doneeda said to Var while she tapped away on the pad, keying in the changes for the hyperdrive.

Var appreciated the eye contact, but it unnerved her. She'd never been shown actual respect since... since... well, since Jarvik. And she could tell it was respect. More than that even, it was interest. And the last time she'd been the object of interest was as a little girl. The bad kind of interest. In fact, the worst kind. The kind that had scarred her.
Unbeknownst to the Twi'lek, there had been other times. When she'd been a Padawan following her master around the galaxy, she'd drawn the admiring glances of young men. When she was still a young girl she'd caught Nedar's interest. Even now her enigmatic isolation captured interest.
But Var was blind to it. Despite her cunning and her eye for seeing all angles in a situation, she still didn't see something so simple.
What she could see was depth to that smile and those eyes. And it threatened her. She could feel a seduction to her soul, something intangible calling on her to trust him. To lay aside her reservations.
It was a struggle deep insider her to resist that. The kind of struggle she hadn't faced in many years. Her sense and her heart fought bitterly. The kernel of light that remained in her pleaded with her to yield and share her pain, to tell her story. But her darkness, her bitterness, and her fear lashed back. And lashed back hard.
She could feel her throat tightening, and she closed her eyes involuntarily to cut off that gaze. As she did, her mind won out over her emotions. Var smothered the feelings she had and buried them away deeply once again, hoping her turmoil hadn't registered with Koeing. She'd been foolish for a few seconds. But she'd pulled herself together again angrily.
She knew better. How could she even think about freely offering trust in a conversation about betrayal and the weakness of trusting freely?
I'm a damn hypocrite... Var rebuked herself harshly, her eyes still closed as she payed half-attention to what Koeing was saying. He'd been a Jedi, but had been betrayed.
Var almost jumped when she heard Donnie. She'd lost herself so thoroughly she hadn't even noticed the pilot approaching. Mercifully though it ended the conversation.
Time to go...
Var's green eyes were cold and collected again. "Yes. It is."
Her moment of weakness was over, and she wouldn't let it happen again.

Sion sat up, throwing the empty rations pack into the garbage receptacle across the room, and he walked out of the bunk room. As he strode past the galley, he caught a glimpse of Doneeda in the cockpit. He had nothing to say to the shameful Twi'lek, so he simply walked outside and stood halfway down the ramp, he stretched.
So, are we going to just stand around and talk or are we going to get this started? He asked, smirking.
Who's this guy? Sion said and pointed to the man standing near Var.

He began petting Kayn calming him down after the incident with the Devaronian as Var descended the ramp towards them. Kayn growled but was quickly quieted by Koeing through their connection. He nodded to Var as she approached, his eyes met hers for a moment but he remembered her reaction before and broke eye contact. "This is Kayn, he'll be coming along, he's quite useful and since him and i bonded i refuse to let him be anywhere but with me, so don't piss him off."
The human came walking down the ramp and Koeing looked up at him, only because he was leaning down petting Kayn. Standing up he stares at him and laughs at his question. "Who am i? My name is Koeing, i am the team leader for this little expedition apparently. Your name is? Since you decided to be quite rude and sit in your little hovel the entire time. Are you useful? What is it you can do? Explain please." He actually was quite interested in what such a young Sith could do for them on this mission.
His attention turned to Var, he guessed the youngling would answer eventually. "I noticed you were uncomfortable Var, did you feel vulnerable? The past is not to be looked on with shame no matter what happened. It is to be used, to make you who you are presently. Do not fear the past, embrace it and you can become stronger."

The past is not to be looked on with shame no matter what happened.
Var's eyes narrowed with resentment. When she replied her voice was very quiet, and tinged with something that sounded like regret. "You don't know what happened. You can't know what happened." It was clear some internal sadness was becoming anger, as her smooth voice took on a hint of menace with the last sentence. And then inside it was all converted to anger.
Vulnerable? You're damn right I felt vulnerable. Try to spend one day in my childhood and see how long you last without those scars. Let's see how you bear them every day. Let's see your vaunted power wipe away that shame. She lashed out viciously with words that never left her mouth, or even her mind.
Perhaps it was so easy to lash out because she'd finally found someone with an opinion to value. And one who asked questions. Her Jedi master had never bothered to show the same courtesy, and now absurdly Var found herself caring.

Sion rolled his eyes at "Koeing", who does this guy think he is?
I was sitting in my hovel for a reason. He said tiredly. I have no time to "explain" what I can do, let us just get on with our assignment, huh? He continued. It was obvious that he did not like this newcomer.

Koeing stared at Var, her reaction brought a gleam to his eye he must have struck a chord. He begins the short walk to her, however he does it cautiously, as she seemed to be lashing out at this moment angry at something in her past that he had touched on. "Good, a reaction from you. It seems i pressed the correct button. Listen to me Varulla simply because something bad happened to you in the past is no reason to run from it. You're right i cannot know your past, but i do know mine, pain, suffering, scars...Everyone has them, however it's how they are dealt with that either makes you weak or strong. If speaking about your past upsets you then you should speak of it, fearing the memories is weakness."
He stared at her intently, he wasn't looking down on her, the tone in his voice never indicated he was mocking her. He is in fact attempting to help, he sees' her as a potential student and if he can break her of the regret he heard in her voice then well, she'd be perfect. He smiled, not a nice happy smile but a smile that conveys everything is alright.

Var glanced around, noticing the proximity of Sion. With a look the conveyed, sadness, anger, and relief at the same time she whispered out a reply.
"All right. I'll tell you, but not here. And not now. Remember what we said about trust? Telling you means I have to make myself vulnerable, and if I do that it will not be in front of anyone else. It will be private, between you and me."
Her eyes showed a resolve that contrasted with her voice. As always, she was engaged in a battle with her feelings. And all of them were vying for supremacy.
Warily she looked to the other Sith, trying to make sure he hadn't learned the details of their conversation. Appearances mattered as much as skills. And just the appearance of weakness would put a target on her back.

Sion looked to Var, No need to be so secretive, Var. he chuckled, and looked at Koeing.
You just met this guy, what, ten minutes ago? And you're already telling him all about your vulnerabilities. You have problems with trust, yet you trust this guy with these things? He again laughed, looking back to Var.

Var's eyes flashed with a green fire, and she seemed to literally darken. When she spoke, her normally appealing and silky voice was icy and dripping with menace.
"I saved your worthless life, I can take it again just as easily. So keep your forked tongue behind your lips Hutt-spawn." She raised her hand as if to begin a force choke, but at the last minute she seemed to restrain herself. "As soon as you give me an excuse I will choke the life out of you, and I will enjoy it."
She glared at him viciously.

Sion simply smirked as Var hurled her weak insults at him.
Heh, you expect me to be afraid of your petty threats? Sion laughed, and continued You fear that I will reveal your.. weakness? As much fun as that would be, I'm not exactly like that. Your fear of this secret getting out is a weakness in itself, though. He paused and sighed.

Doviculous decided that maybe it was time to better himself with the new comer. He rose from the metal chair, and made his way down into the cargo hold. As he entered the hold, he could hear the threats made by Var against Sion, which caused him to chuckle. Ahahaha! If you keep on making bad decisions Sion, you're gonna end up a horribly mutilated corpse buried in the snow He continued to approach, creating a dull metallic thud each time his boots touched the cold metal surface.
He studied the near human intently, he could feel the power radiating off this being, there was also a certain wisdom to him. So, how did you get stuck on this job?

Sion laughed as Dov stuttered out his hollow words.
Luck will only get you so far you so far, Devaronian. Recalling the earlier fight, which Sion lost. Dov was just full of himself, a filthy creature hiding in a shell, so to speak. His arrogance would be his downfall. Dov already stooped so low as to get into Doneeda, and that's as close to rock bottom as you can get in an hour.

As soon as he heard Sion he knew Var would react badly, he shifted so he stood in front of her in case she tried to attack, dismember, or maim Sion. While he stood there he listened to Sions' come back and then the Devaronians' remark. He shook his head and couldn't believe the maturity level of this group. Can it get any worse?
Finally he got tired of hearing it and sent out a telekinetic wave around him, the wave would hit the others and feel like a minor push to get their attention. "I will not have children arguing and causing this mission to go to hell. You are all adults, now act like it. If any of you are in danger because you decide to act childishly as you are now i will not hesitate to leave you here and allow you to find your own way back to Korriban. I am not a babysitter. He said in an irritated and dark voice, and he was speaking the truth he had every intention of leaving behind anyone incapable of acting intelligent and mature.
Shaking his head he turned to Var and touched her shoulder lightly, his eyes met hers and he shook his head indicating it's not worth it. "He's needed for the mission, i can't allow you to kill him here. Later, on Korriban when this is finished you can settle this but for now just follow me." He removed his hand as he figured she might be uncomfortable with it then he began walking toward the exit of the port and into the jungle, Kayn by his side.

Contrary to Koeing's assumption, his touch on Var's shoulder had been far from unwelcome. In fact, it had been reassuring. The very fact that someone cared enough to offer a... kind... touch was, well, a glimmer of hope. It had been so long since anyone cared that the Twi'lek couldn't even remember when she had last been able to relax rather than tense at a touch.
The comforting weight had taken the tension out of her shoulders, and her anger was cooling. Her demeanor toward Sion was just as icy as the freezing planet now. She was in no danger of killing him in the heat of the moment.
She nodded respectfully to Koeing, immensely glad of his company. Varulla'aba had gone from fearing him to considering him a potential... friend.
She took up a place flanking him on the opposite side from the cat, and followed.

Doviculous was scooted back a couple inches or so. He adjusted his hood, and followed the near human, the cat, and Var, taking position opposite of Var, but a little farther back. I must say you have an impressive creature, I wonder how lethal it is.. He shifted his gaze between Var and Koe a few more times before saying, You two seem to be getting along, I think it's time we started making allies and not enemies
The wind suddenly picked up, causing Doviculous to readjust his hood. So I guess the pilot stays behind? Makes sense, her first part of the mission is over, now it's our turn He looked at Koe, How was this one chosen to aid us? He should be doing something more than helping three brash initiates
