Name: Jakk Zur
Race: Zabrak
Age: 35
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 190 lbs
Appearance:
Jakk is a tall, red skinned Zabrak. Jakk has yellow eyes and black, tribal tattoos on his face from Zabrak Rite of Passage. He has the normal Zabrak crown of horns. Jakk dresses himself in a simple all black outfit design for ease of motion in combat. This outfit includes a hooded, dark gray robe worn outside of combat to hide his face.
Personality: Jakk is mostly a calm, driven individual. He is self-confident, and determined to succeed at anything he attempts. He can often come off as haughty and arrogant, especially in his pride as an Iridonian. Single-minded, Jakk often focuses on nothing but the task at hand, not stopping until it is done. Jakk is for the most part straightforward and honest, finding deceit dishonorable (he's also a horrible liar).
Jakk is a very physical person, preferring direct action and combat over deep thinking and complicated strategy. This is an amusing paradox though considering a few of his hobbies. Jakk is oddly fond of riddles and puzzles, often spending the many hours of boring space flight on them to pass the time. Aside from those, Jakk spends his free time meditating on the Force and practicing his Lightsaber skills, mostly the latter. Jakk prefers the company of those like himself, who talk less and act more, in turn disliking over-talkative jokers.
Jakk is a very aggressive combatant, constantly on the offense. During combat Jakk will be incredibly focused, constantly driving into his opponent with a calm fury. Unlike most Dark Jedi and Sith, Jakk will not taunt his opponent or be influenced by the taunts of others.
Birth place: Iridonia/Wortan
Faction: Dark Jedi
Rank: Knight - Marauder
Bio: Outline to help write
Birth till found by Jedi (0-2)
Jakk was born to a normal Zabrak couple in the city of Wortan. Jakk's parents were a part of efforts to restore Wortan to what it was before the Mandalorian Wars. In addition to dealing with local criminals and swoop gangs, they soon had a Jedi Watchman asking to take their child into the Jedi Order. They staunchly refused. The Watchman accepted this as he was supposed to, but stayed around Wortan for a week checking out other Force-Sensitive children. As the Watchman was about to leave Wortan with two Iridonian children, he went to check on Jakk's parents again, to make sure there were no hard feelings about his request. However, when he arrived at their house, he found that the parents were dead, killed by a burglar, leaving Jakk crying and alone. After some negotiations, the Watchman got the Iridonian government to hand the child over to the Jedi to be raised instead of as a ward of the state.
Youngling Years (2-11)
And so Jakk Zur was raised in the Jedi Order on Coruscant for as long as he could remember. Jakk was simply one among many Younglings being raised by the Jedi Order. As he grew up, he was taught all the normal subjects, Math, History, etc. Of all the Younglings in his generational clan, Jakk tended to be the most aggressive and driven. Jakk tended to do the best in the classes by virtue of being the only child who cared enough to really try. When it came time for Lightsaber training to begin, while the other Younglings at most saw it as a game to play, Jakk saw it as a game to win. When someone did better than him, Jakk would be upset with himself for not being the best. When the time came for actual sparring, Jakk was much more aggressive than the teachers would have liked. After being reprimanded for the umpteenth time, Jakk finally started to try winning without hurting his opponent as an exercise in strength. For the most part, he succeeded.
Jakk was easily the strongest and fastest Youngling of his clan. But as the other Younglings were each picked, one by one to be Padawans, Jakk realized he wasn't "Jedi" material. Jakk realized that he didn't have the right mindset to become a true member of the Jedi Order and that they were planning on on putting him in the Corps. When this realization struck him, anger and frustration filled him. He was good, at everything the Jedi tried to teach him, and yet he had failed. Without a plan of any kind, Jakk ran away from the Order. It was pure luck that he succeeded, managing to get about 30 kilometers from the Temple before he sat down to rest, tired. A shadow swept over him.
Dark Jedi Apprenticeship (12-22)
When Jakk awoke, he was not on the street he had passed out on. He was on a soft bed. Looking out the near window, Jakk surmised that he was in one of the high-rise apartments in the residential districts of Coruscant. Suddenly a voice drew Jakk's attention to the door, where a Mirialan woman stood with a knowing smirk. Before Jakk could say anything, she suddenly described Jakk's situation, a Jedi Youngling on the run for being too aggressive. She claimed to understand all too well how the Jedi feared greatness, feared those who would do what it took to win. Enraptured by her words, Jakk was quick to accept when she offered to train him in the ways of the Force, to train him in the ways of the Dark Jedi.
Mistress Fortris Gohl, as she liked to be called, was quick to get them both off of Coruscant, away from the gaze of the Jedi, having only been on the planet for a job when she'd made her delightful discovery. Fortris was an enforcer for one of the many crime syndicates in the galaxy. As a Dark Jedi, she was and extremely righ ranking and well respected member of her syndicate. Only being called upon for the most dangerous assignments, Fortris had a bit of free time between them. Having a couple weeks until her next assignment, she had Jakk show her what he could do. As it was, the 12 year old Jakk had less than average skill in the Force and better than average Lightsaber skill, for a Youngling. She knew then that Jakk's training would aim more towards developing his Lightsaber skills and teaching him Force skill that would supplement that.
Over the next two years, Fortris would not let Jakk come on any of her assignments for his safety. His training during this period focused on improving his Shii-Cho and introducing him to the basics of Ataru. He would also spend at a fair amount of time learning ways to supplement his Lightsaber combat skills with the Force. When Jakk turned 14, Fortris finally decided to let Jakk come on an assignment. This mission was a simple extortion racket against a minor Hutt crime lord in the Nicandra Sector of the Mid-Rim. Because Jakk was still young and unskilled, Jakk still wasn't allowed to fight. He was merely to watch as his master cut through the Hutts cheap bodyguards, she barely needed to put forth any effort to defend him from stray blaster bolts. When they cornered the Hutt, Jakk watched as his master put the fear of the Dark Side into the Hutt, getting him to agree to the ridiculous demands of Fortris' syndicate, a full 50% of the Hutt's profits as payment to not be totally destroyed. As they left, what struck Jakk the most about the ordeal was the ever present smile on Fortris' lips. She clearly enjoyed slaughtering those thugs, hell, she reveled in the violence she inflicted. When Jakk asked her about this, she merely back-handed him and told him he would like it one day himself.
Over time, Jakk's training became more demanding, more brutal. Failure was met with torture. Jakk began to hate Fortris, but she merely encouraged his hatred, saying it would make him stronger. Fortris was now dragging Jakk along on her missions, and forcing him to kill the thugs, putting him in situations where it was fight and kill, or die. Of course, she took care not to put him in a situation he couldn't handle, but she needed to craft his mind into a cold-blooded killer. Over this period, Jakk's goal would shift from being stronger, to just surviving this horrible training, and very slowly, to enjoying it. One day, soon after Jakk's 16th birthday, he realized how he was changing into the killer Fortris wanted. After a few moments contemplation, Jakk realized...he didn't mind.
By this point, Jakk had met several other Zabraks and learned a little about his own culture. One Zabrak in particular, Blok Lok, a friend of Fortris, had become something of a father/uncle figure, having taught Jakk a bit about the traditional martial arts of their species. However, one day Blok asked Jakk if he'd had his rite of passage yet, to which Jakk's blank face gave the answer. With permission from Fortris, who had some free time, the three of them went to Iridonia, arriving in the month leading up to the Rising Festival.
During the next month as the day of the Rising Festival approached, Blok, as the closet Zabrak to Jakk, acted as his father in making the challenges for Jakk's three rites of passage, the first two before the festival, Jakk passed easily. For the first challenge, a physical one, Jakk fought against Blok with a Zhaboka, a ceremonial Iridonian pike. Against the more skilled fighter, Jakk managed to bring to the fight to a draw, which Blok considered passing. The second challenge, a mental one, was to successfully solve a complex philosophical riddle that Blok liked. After an hour's contemplation, Jakk managed to solve it. Then, on the actual day of the Rising Festival, was the day of the third challenge, where Jakk was to participate with other Zabrak youths in a group hunt, in which Jakk, with the help of the others, manage to strike the killing blow against the creature, and earn his tattoos. Out of respect for Blok, with permission, Jakk had his tattoos be similar to Blok's clan tattoos, though with a personal touch added to them to make them unique. The traditional process the Zabrak used for the tattoos was supposed to be painful and most of the other children tried their best not to whimper in pain, but the process was nothing compared to the tortures Fortris had inflicted on him. Now an adult in the eyes of his fellow Zabraks, Jakk happily joined the celebrating, which was only marred by a single fistfight when another Iridonian youth complained about the informality of Jakk's rite and his taking of another clan's tattoo as his own. Within minutes the other Zabrak boy was on his back with a broken nose and Jakk was having another drink.
The next day Fortris found Blok and Jakk still enjoying the festival. During the past month, while Jakk was becoming an adult, she had been preparing the next step in Jakk's training as a Dark Jedi, building his Lightsaber. At this point, Jakk said goodbye to Blok, who returned to enjoying the festival while Jakk and Fortris went to a place nearby that Fortris had arranged. There, over the next couple months, she would guide Jakk through the process of creating his own Lightsaber. Due to the lack of Lightsaber crystals on Iridonia, Fortris had Jakk create his own synthetic crystal using a furnace and several days of hard work and use of the Force to give it the right shape and clear it of any impurities. As a result, Jakk felt that his crystal was superior to Jedi crystals, which were merely natural ones they found in caves and meditated on. Jakk's Lightsaber eventually took shape, with Jakk drawing inspiration for the handle's design from the Iridonian culture. As the second month concluded, Jakk's Lightsaber was completed. When Jakk ignited his crimson blade for the first time, the hum was music to his ears.
With both his Rite of Passage complete and his Lightsaber assembled, Fortris and Jakk took leave of Iridonia, to continue their work as enforcers in Fortris' crime syndicate.
Over the next six years Jakk, with his new, personal Lightsaber, drove forward in his training, more determined than ever to become better. Across countless missions and countless training sessions, on a mountain of corpses and in a sea of sweat and blood, Jakk refined his skill in Shii-Cho and Ataru to a high degree and learned how to use the Force to further increase his abilities. His confidence in himself grew as it became more easy for him to slaughter the thugs in his path. Taking note of this, Fortris decided it was time for his trials.
On the day of Jakk's 22nd birthday, as a "present" Fortris said she was gonna give Jakk a test. Odd, but for Jakk it wasn't the first time, so he calmly followed his master into the nearby training room. Lightsabers ignited, the two faced each other, but then, a chill ran up Jakk's spine. Fortris was smiling at Jakk, in a way he only ever saw when she was torturing people. It was something that had not been directed at him in years. Then, with that dreadful smile still on her lips, she asked Jakk to die. She flowed towards Jakk, her own crimson saber cutting towards him, not humming, but crying like a banshee as it flew towards his throat. Jakk blocked the first strike by pure instinct, though this moment quickly awoke him from his fear, awakening all his warrior instincts so that all the subsequent blocks and parries were more conscious and skillful.
Jakk was quick the fight back, attacking his master with everything he had. He drove into and swung at his master as hard as he could but Fortris was a far superior fighter.
