Reason For Partner(s): So, as some of you know, we've got a little player-made faction on the board called the Stellar Mythics the brainchild of our resident tech owl (and too many late-night skype conversations). So what are the Stellar Mythics, you ask? Well, to make things short, they're a sort of quasi-religious cult, composed of Force-users and non Force-users alike (mainly Force users) who are headquartered on the (also custom) world of Aiaru. Their order is based in part around the trade of Etherium, a drug that's mined and refined on Aiaru. Of course, another key tenet of their order is the acquisition of knowledge, in all of its forms.

So that's what they are in a nutshell, sortakinda, though there's obviously much more detail in that link. So why should you make a space wizard?

Everyone loves staves, right? Right? *looks around* I think so...

Who doesn't like getting blasted on Etherium?! It's good for your meditation, kidz, don't worry!

Tired of getting caught up in those light side/dark side conflicts? Space Wizards don't care!

CONFLICT!
Yeah, there's a base for a possible main plot in, dealing with an uprising from some Mythics that have defected from the order. Said uprising has the potential to drag Aiaru into a civil war, should it get bad enough, but we need people for it to work. Again, more info for that in the link.

Other: Oh, for those of you that might have the thought to move a preexisting character into the group, yes, it is possible, as they're fairly accepting. Comes with that whole impartiality thing.

Resident tech owl and librarian of the Stellar Mythics (which is like a minor god to an information-based society) here. Just wanted to inform you that we have 2 PCs all well-written out--especially Kvothe, put a weekend aside to read that bio--and approved, but we NEED MORE.

So you have Rugs' awesome list of why you should join, here's mine:

1. You get to call the Force "Mythos", which is just a plain cooler name and no one can say "that's what she said".

2. You get to wield this power at the wave of a staff in VERY overt forms that you spend your whole life practicing to do.

3. Swords are cooler than lightsabers

4. You can satisfy just about any muse within the Mythic bounds, from an undersea adventure aboard a rickety submarine, to a peaceful walk through an ancient swamp, to a blood-letting of heretic scum, to another hard day of Harry Potter-esque classes.

5. With an organization known as the Space Wizards, you can tell things aren't overly serious. Have some fun, laugh at the references and jokes (ie. the previous High Elder, Kylric Montressor Merdumbledalf), and, as Rugs' has touched on, get stoned in the name of cosmic discovery!

This might be more interesting than making him a Jedi Master (instead of just a spacer/wanderer as I was previously thinking).

There's no particular rush. We're just trying to push to get some more folks in general. But we can be patient

Having looked over the faction and wishing to involve Garnet more, I would think he'd be a perfect fit for this wacko society! Lemme know if him not being able to take the drug is cool and get back to me!

Coolio, we've got Jackal on board now. So that brings us to three characters that are done, with a few more that are being considered or are in the pipe. Good stuff, good stuff.

I suppose a discussion thread of some sort will go up at some point in the near-ish future so we can actually start planning things.

I've been toying in the back of my mind for a while about making a grey Jedi character, but I think this faction would be a better fit for what I have in mind =)

One quick question, though; is it cool if afformentioned character not wield a sword? It's just that the idea I had for this guy was one of total nonviolence

So I can start brainstorming... any thoughts on how to get my guy involved? I would prefer to have him join IC, but whether you guys find him, or he crash-lands on Aiaru, or a host of other options.. I don't know yet.

My initial thought is to have him just wandering the galaxy, learning and all that jazz, so it might take a little convincing if he were to join a group like this. But I also think it would be close enough to his own upbringing that perhaps it could be a second home or something silly like that.

Anyway...

Um, whatever works best for you, I guess. I know some people have worked being found out in the Galaxy into their bios, so that could work. Or he could show up on Aiaru for whatever reason. There's a range of possibilities, many of which are probably feasible.

Omg. This sounds like such a great faction that I would love to be a part of it. My current character could potentially get involved, but I rather doubt it, so i'll try and make a new one to join.

One question. These staffs you say, simulate Force powers? o.O

Who's the character? And no, I think some might act as a sort of focus to help a bit, depending on the character, but they don't simulate anything.
