Name: Rune Oki
Race: Mon Calamari
Age: 48
Height: 6’ 1”
Weight: 171 .lbs
Birth place: Mon Calamari, Coral City
Appearance:
(Pictures are not mine, but taken from Wookiepedia. Appearance is based heavily off this character with the addition of a scar and a sash.)
Rune is not what someone would expect in a Mon Calamari. He gives off the presence of a grizzled veteran, which is unusual for his species who are more diplomats and scientist. Rune stands taller than most beings by a few inches. He isn’t the strongest of Jedi, but he does have quite a bit of muscle on his arms and chest. Being a Mon Calamari, Rune has brown, slick skin. He has black spot patterns all over his body. Rune has a scar across the right side of his face traveling downwards, but before his eye. This was caused by a lightsaber duel with his former padawan.
Rune wears traditional Jedi robes, but with some blue woven into them. He wears a thick, wide blue sash along his waist in place of a belt. When not using his lightsaber, Rune puts it inside his sash in a diagonal direction, usually on his left side. He hardly ever wears his outer robe unless he in traveling, preferring to be able to move freely and let his skin breath. He wears rugged boots, the type that can handle almost any terrain. These boots are brown in color, and travel up his shins to the middle of his calf.
Personality:
Rune Oki is a very vocal person. He is not afraid to voice his opinion to anyone. Being a Jedi Master has given him quite a bit of respect, and most people don’t talk back to him. But this has also given Rune a lack of tact. He doesn’t avoid problems, and instead deals with them on the spot rather than put them off. He prefers to take care of problems himself, rather than listen to people fight over them. He figures the more they fight over it, the more time gets wasted just doing it.
Rune has become a cautious person after he trained his first padawan. He measures every situation before jumping in, and tries to see the best way to approach it rather than with brute force. Although he does fight when needed, Rune prefers to persuade enemies to throw down their arms. Rune believes there is redemption for everyone, except the Sith. He refuses to give them any quarter.
Rune is as loyal as a Jedi could be to the Order. He believes in what it stands for and believes in the light side of the Force. Rune is a selfless person, and he always puts other’s needs before his own.
Rune Oki has a small reputation throughout the Jedi Order for his mastery of Soresu, especially since he mastered it at a young age. Some Knights and Masters even seek him out to learn Soresu from him. He always obliges, but he tells these Jedi that Soresu is nothing more than controlling the battle through defense.
Since his last padawan fell to the dark side, Rune has been very cautious about taking on another. Although the Council has been pushing him to teach another to Knighthood. Rune would much rather prefer to be on the front lines fighting the Sith. He believes it to be his duty to liberate Mon Calamari, since he was its Jedi Watchman at the time it fell into the Sith’s hands. Despite this, he has declined to join the Blades because of a new padawan he just took, Kalan D'ravk.

Bio:
Birth and Discovery: Ages 0 – 2 weeks
Rune Oki was born to two Mon Calamari scientist in Coral City named Lamor and Cilghan Oki. They both loved the Republic, and they believed it was in the best interest of Mon Calamari to join them.
The two young parents had Rune's midi-chlorian count tested when he was born, which wasn't a common practice on Mon Calamari at the time. Rune was found to have above average for the normal Jedi. The hospital where Rune was born contacted the Jedi Order, who made arrangements to send someone to pick the newborn up.
They were both overjoyed that Rune was able to be accepted as a Jedi, they were Republic patriots and would love to be able to serve the Republic anyway they could.
The parents only requested two weeks with the boy, when they could say goodbye and take pictures of him. After many photos and a teary, bittersweet goodbye, Rune was on his way to becoming a Jedi.
Youngling Years: Two weeks – 12 Years
As Rune grew up, the teachers saw him as an average Force and Lightsaber user, with a promising future. Rune was always taller than most of his peers, and he seemed to be the de facto leader, where he knew it or not. Rune was always watching out for his peers, grabbing a datapad someone might’ve left behind or making them feel better when they were sad. The other younglings listened to what Rune had to say when they a project to do, mainly because they liked him. Rune always made sure what needed to be done got done, whether someone else did it or he did it.
Rune had two close friends when he was a youngling. One was a wookiee named Raltharan. He was small for a wookiee, but he was quite a jokester. Rune soon understood parts of Shriiywook through Raltharan and his translating droid, being able to soon understand the wookiee without needing the droid. The other friend was a human named Ennyl Semtin. She was smarter than most younglings, and had a talent for remembering the most random facts, which came in useful during classes.
It came time for all three of them to be chosen to be padawans. Raltharan left first, being chosen by another Wookiee Jedi named Salporino. Ennyl was next, leaving with a Togruta Jedi named Sheek Ka. Rune soon worried that he wasn’t going to be chosen in time.
A week before his birthday, Rune was chosen by Jedi Master Larkin Foyer, a human. He was older than most human Masters, in his early sixties. Master Foyer was nice enough, and the two got along just fine.
But Rune worried that Larkin had just chosen him to please the Council who was pushing the Jedi Master to choose a new padawan, and Rune needed a master. Rune asked Master Foyer about this. The Jedi Master said this wasn’t the case, but Rune still wasn’t convinced. Never the less, Rune told himself ‘At least I have a master.’
Padawan: Ages 12 – 20
Rune and Master Foyer went on the standard diplomacy missions most young padawans and their masters go on right from the start. Rune didn’t see a need for diplomacy at the time. They were Jedi, shouldn’t people listen to them and do as they say just because of that?
Master Foyer taught Rune Ataru, the style that the Jedi Master used the most. Rune soon found it to be very acrobatic and offensive, which he liked. The young padawan first encountered combat when he was fourteen. A diplomacy mission between some rebels on Eriadu broke down, and the rebels turned hostile. Rune himself incapacitated two out of five of the rebels that where in the group he and Master Foyer with negotiating with.
But combat turned out to be much different than he had anticipated. When Master Foyer killed one of the rebels, Rune felt the new void in the Force. It shocked him at first, but Master Foyer talked to the boy and he eventually got over it.
Master Foyer expanded greatly on Rune’s telepathic and sense force abilities, since these were ones Rune seemed to be naturally gifted in. He taught Rune how to use the infamous Jedi ‘Mind Trick’, and showed him how useful sensing his opponents feeling could be in diplomacy.
At age fifteen Rune built his own lightsaber. It took him the better part of three weeks to finish the hilt, never being well versed technology. It was a very simple design with a grey finish and a black grip. Master Foyer took Rune to Ilum, where it took him almost a day to find the right crystal. Rune took a green colored crystal. After a month of meditating on the crystal and tuning it to himself, Rune completed the saber.
His first saber >
(Again, not mine)
Master Foyer saw Rune completely his saber as a chance to be able to go on more difficult missions. Rune jumped at the chance for less diplomacy and more action. Master Foyer continued to teach Rune Ataru. Rune still made time for his two friends, Ennyl and Raltharan, however there time together became less and less as they grew older. Master Foyer pushed Runes training, saying that there would be time for friends after he became a Knight.
Rune was sixteen the first time he fought a dark jedi. He and Master Foyer were sent to Umbara, where the locals were reporting a Dark Jedi and his Acolyte where trying vandalize and loot an ancient tomb of a Jedi Knight. Master Foyer told Rune that there would be no negotiating with a dark jedi, and they should only offer them one chance to leave. Master Foyer engaged the dark jedi while Rune engaged the Acolyte.
Master Foyer and the dark jedi dueled deeper into the tomb, while Rune and the Acolyte stayed in the same general area they started in. Rune utilized his Ataru against the Acolyte’s Soresu. Rune knew that Soresu was meant to wear down enemies, so he decided on small strikes that wouldn’t tire himself, but rather the Acolyte from blocking so much. Rune eventually got the upper hand, stabbing the Acolyte though the chest.
Rune found Master Foyer in the tomb not too far from where he was. Master Foyer stood over the dark jedi’s body, which had been cut in two horizontally. Since they completed their mission, the two Jedi left the tomb. Rune was distraught from his duel. The Acolyte was no older than he was. What if their positions had been switched, with Rune being the one lying dead in the tomb now? Master Foyer tried telling Rune that the Acolyte was far from innocent, but he wasn’t convinced. The Acolyte was just a kid like was after all.
At the age of eighteen, Rune was growing into a promising Jedi. Still making time for his friends, Rune and Ennyl became attracted to each other. They denied any feeling though. Raltharan constantly teased them about it. After a few months, they finally feel in love. Not long after their masters aught wind this. Both masters refused to let their padawans have any contact with each other. Master Foyer moved himself and Rune out to the Dantoonie Enclave even. Rune wouldn’t see Ennyl again until after he was a Knight.
Trials of Skill and Courage: Age 20
After many more missions, Rune was well on his way to becoming a Knight. At the age of twenty, Rune was a very promising padawan.
However, on one mission to Tatooine, Master Foyer and Rune encountered another Dark Jedi. This one was by himself, but far more powerful and he used a double saber. Master Foyer was getting older now, and he was slowing down. He had to rely on Body Force abilities to compensate. Rune tried to stick close to Master Foyer, to provide muscle and speed.
Their battle led into a cave, where Rune was cut off from Master Foyer in a small cave-in. Rune was able to see what was going on though, and Master Foyer and the dark jedi took their battle onto a small bridge in the cave. Between using Ataru in a small space and old age, Master Foyer lost the battle. The dark jedi cut Master Foyer in half horizontally before Rune’s eyes.
Rune was eventually able to shift some of the rubble and get through though. He engaged the dark jedi, and cut the double saber in half. Having no mercy then and there, Rune killed his prisoner.
A New Master, A New Future: Ages 20 – 27
Rune reported back to the Jedi Temple, and told them everything that had happened. The Council deemed this encounter with the dark jedi enough for his Trial of Skill and Courage since he faced and defeated a dark jedi in combat. This was an impressive feat at the age of twenty for a Jedi. A pair of Knights went to retrieve Master Foyer’s body, which Rune couldn’t bring back by himself. After the funeral pyre, Rune was assigned a new master.
Onoma Toka was a fellow Mon Calamari, and the Jedi Watchman over Mon Calamari. He was a very laid back person, which made Rune crazy, as he couldn’t sit still for just a few seconds. Onoma Toka taught Rune Soresu, which he had expressed interest in learning after seeing how Ataru was not the best.
Onoma took Rune everywhere when on Watchman business. This was mainly trying to get Mon Calamari to join the Republic peacefully, as there was still holdouts in the government that viewed the Republic as vulnerable. Rune started to see how diplomacy was helpful and Onoma taught him the finer aspects of it. Onoma also continued Master Foyer’s teaching with force abilities, focusing on telepathic and sense, while also having Rune more protection abilities.
Trial of Flesh: Age 21
When Rune was twenty-one, he had his first taste of combat with Master Toka. They received word that there might be a group of terrorist might be hiding out on Mon Calamari, since the planet wasn't under the Republic yet, the Republic couldn't directly interfere.
Master Toka was able to convince the local law enforcement to help, and they found the criminals in under a week. They had a safe house located in a high rise in Coral City, about six stories up in a run down, abandoned office complex.
Of course, both Jedi were able to sense danger going into the room, but they were not prepared for what happened next. There were in fact no terrorist inside the office complex, but the room was lined with explosives to cover their tracks. By the time the Jedi and law enforcement made sure the room was clear and regrouped in the middle, the explosives went off.
Master Toka was able to protect himself and those that were around him from the explosion through the use of some Force protection techniques, however the force of the explosion sent Rune tumbling through a window. Just from pure shock, Rune wasn't able to call on the Force until about half way down. Even then it wasn't the best he could muster. He landed on his left arm and heard a crack, but that wasn't the end of it. He didn't see it until he was laying on his back, arm's at his sides, but debris had followed Rune out of the building. He couldn't move out of the way in time, and a small cabinet fell on his already injured arm. Between the force of the impact and the already broken bone, this shattered Rune's arm.
Master Toka got Rune to a hospital and they were able to get him ready to travel. Master Toka then took him to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant so the Jedi Healers could mend his arm through the Force. They later received news that the Port Authority was able to slow the terrorist long enough for the law enforcement to arrive and arrest them. Mission Accomplished.
The Jedi Council later considered Rune's shattered bone in his arm a very painful Trial of Flesh. Rune's arm healed normally afterwards only thanks to the Force and some very skilled healers. It would still occasionally give him pain throughout the rest of his life, but he would able to use it normally.
Trial of Spirit: Age 22
After two years under Onoma, Rune was ready for the Trials. Traveling from Mon Calamari to Coruscant, Rune and Onoma went to the Jedi Temple so Rune could face the last Trial he had, the Trial of Spirit.
Entering the chamber, Rune found Onoma sitting in a rather small meditation chamber. Onoma explained the Trial of Spirit to Rune, how he was suppose to face the darkness within himself. Rune and Onoma both went into a deep meditative trance. Rune searched his soul for any darkness, finally finding what he sought. He saw the three duels with dark jedi had, the one when he was a teenager, the one on Tatooine, and the one from the simulation. He saw how he offered no mercy in any of the duels. Rune then saw himself not offering mercy to anyone else. He became cold and distant towards everyone. He became alone.
Rune woke from his meditative trance and told Onoma what had transpired. And then he passed the Trial of Spirit, becoming a full Jedi Knight.
Training to become a Watchman: Ages 22 - 27
The Trial of Spirit changed Rune Oki. He became a much more compassionate person, not wanting to become alone like he saw. He started meditating at the beginning of each day so that he would have the patience to show compassion and mercy.
At the age of twenty-two Rune decided to keep training under Onoma, to become a Jedi Watchman. Onoma gladly accepted, as he was looking for a replacement anyways. Onoma taught Rune the finer aspects of being a Watchman. During this time they did not participated in missions that didn't have anything to do with Mon Calamari. The two focused completely on Runes training. Rune hardly ever left Mon Calamari or the space around it during this time. He grew attached to its people and culture.
Onoma continued to train Rune in Soresu and protection abilities. Rune also trained himself in more telepathic abilities and sense abilities, becoming somewhat self-taught. Onoma encouraged Rune to learn these things on his own, and Rune devoted whatever time he had to his training.
Around the age of twenty-seven, Onoma declared Rune a Master of Soresu. Onoma was surprised Rune could achieve such a feat at a young age, but he attributed it to Runes dedication to his training. Onoma told Rune there was little more he could teach him, so Onoma decided to teach him a practical skill that he would need as a Watchman; How to fly a starship. Rune didn’t have a natural gift for flying, but he wasn’t bad starting out either. After a few months of flying a starfighter around, simulated combat, and learning to make hyperspace jumps, Onoma deemed him proficient behind the controls of a starship.
Five years after his Trials, Onoma deemed Rune ready to take his place as a Watchman. The High Jedi Council recognized Rune as a Jedi Watchman now, but they decided he needed a few more years before taking Onoma’s spot.
Knighthood: Ages 27 – 29
Rune returned to the Jedi Temple and took up residence there. He met his old friends Raltharan and Ennyl again, both also Knights now. Rune and Ennyl declared whatever feelings they used to have for each other to be long gone after all these years.
Rune went on Knight level missions for the Council, sometimes paired with another Knight or a group, or sometimes by himself. The Council didn’t waste his telepathic and diplomacy skills, and with his saber skills Rune was usually the muscle on a diplomacy mission.
Factory Mishaps: Age 30
The week after Rune's thirtieth birthday, he was assigned a mission to Fondor. There, factories were reporting ship thieves stealing ships right off the assembly line through the use of more subtle skills such as hacking and persuasion instead of fighting and explosives. This made them harder to track as they covered their tracks very well.
Rune worked with the law enforcement for two weeks, trying to pinpoint the thieves next target. It made it difficult that Fondor had many ship factories. They were finally able to pinpoint their next target after raiding one of their safe houses. Rune and the local law enforcement set a trap for the thieves in the small shuttle factory. Rune would negotiate, or fight depending on how things went, with the thieves himself inside the factory when the law enforcement waited outside in case things went bad.
And bad they went. As soon as the thieves saw that they had a Jedi on their tale, battle ensued. But both Rune and the thieves didn't count on the fact that the factory ran twenty-four seven. A few of the thieves got crushed by the machinery. And when one whipped out a thermal detonator that killed himself and fellow partner-in-crime, the blast knocked Rune off his feet and set his lightsaber tumbling into an assembly line. The hilt was eventually crushed and destroyed.
The thieves, thinking that Rune was vulnerable now, went in for the kill. However the law enforcement heard the sounds of the battle, and they stormed the place and arrested the criminals before they could kill Rune. Mission Accomplished.
Rune reported back to the Council, and they gave him time to build a new saber. Basing his new hilt off of Master Toka's, it took him about a week to build. Searching Ilum for a new crystal, Rune found a very nice cyan one. He spent a month meditating on the crystal and toned it to himself. His new saber was finally complete.
Teaching Another: Ages 30 - 40
At the age of thirty, The Jedi Council decided that Rune was old and wise enough to become Onoma Toka’s replacement as Jedi Watchman of Mon Calamari. They just requested he take on a padawan first. Rune looked through many candidates all of different species, age, and personality. He finally settled on a human boy by the name of Iago Kallous. Iago was a very polite boy, but was headstrong and stubborn also. He was a skilled lightsaber combatant amongst the younglings, but wasn’t as skilled in the use of the Force.
Iago listened to everything Rune told him and said, following every instruction just because he wanted to learn, because he wanted to be a Jedi. However, Iago often had his moments of stubbornness, doing what he thought to be right and not listening to Rune at all. Iago had an interest in anything that was mechanical or could fly, and Rune eventually taught him how to fly a starfighter, but not until he was older. Rune would often worry if anything he taught got through to the boy, not seeing the fruit of his teaching until Iago was older.
Iago’s training was different from most padawans as Rune was also now a Jedi Watchman. Rune took the young boy on every assignment and every meeting, sparing no chance to teach him something. Iago was quite during most of these meeting and assignments, instead absorbing everything in. Rune taught him Soresu only, shying away from more offensive forms, the memory of Master Foyer's death still in his memories, how ever long ago it might have been. Rune himself learned Djem So and Shien at this time, looking for a more offensive form so he could end battles more quickly.
The first few years of the apprenticeship was spent teaching Iago history and politics, two things Rune used daily in his career of a Jedi Watchman. Iago was uninterested in these subjects, but Rune couldn’t blame him or discipline him for his lack of enthusiasm. He was the same way when he was young, wasn’t he?
At the age of fifteen, Rune decided that Iago was ready to build his own lightsaber. Since the boy was a skilled engineer, it took him only a few weeks to build his hilt, unlike Rune who took a full month his first time. Rune was impressed with the boy’s speed, and flattered that Iago had based his hilt of his own saber. Maybe Rune was having an impression after all. Rune took Iago to Dantooine. There, after two days, Iago choose a yellow crystal for his saber
After Iago had finished his lightsaber, Rune decided to teach him how to fly a starfighter. The teenager had a natural gift for flying; something Rune admired having to learn everything the hard way. After a few months Iago shaped up to be an excellent pilot, on par with Rune, who was flying well before Iago was born.
The pair encountered their first dark jedi together when Iago was seventeen, and Rune thirty-five. Rune had felt a dark presence land on Mon Calamari while meditating early one morning, and the two set out to find whoever it was. It took them the better part of two days but they eventually scoured Coral City, eventually finding the dark jedi.
They were both average Djem So duelists by now, but because the dark jedi focused on Rune, that caused him to use Soresu instead. Iago saw this as an opportunity, and he charged forward attacking the dark force wielder. The dark jedi let up long enough to counter attack, slicing off Iago’s left arm from below the elbow and down. Rune switched primarily to protecting the teenager, who was no lying on the ground, and the dark jedi escaped the duel.
Iago was upset that he had caused the dark jedi to escape, but Rune reassured him. Rune told the young man that he had expected Iago to do just what he did, but the dark jedi was just faster and stronger. Iago looked down on his new robotic prosthetic arm as a failure, while Rune told him to look on it as a lesson.
This encounter removed a lot of the stubbornness from Iago, and he became more willing to listen and do as he was told. The rest of the apprenticeship passed by with any more duels with dark jedi, instead, Rune had enthused Iago about becoming a Jedi Watchman himself. Iago learned what he could from Rune before his Trials, which came more quickly than either Jedi had expected. Rune put forward Iago loss of his arm as his Trial of Flesh, which the Jedi Council accepted without question.
Becoming a Master: Age 40
At the age of forty, Rune watched his padawan undergo the Trials. Rune wasn’t told what went on in the other chamber, and Iago didn’t share. Rune was tasked with waiting for his padawan in the Trial of Spirit however. Rune waited for what seemed like hours, meditating and reaching his senses out to find his apprentice. Eventually Iago made his way into the last chamber, and Rune explained to Iago what he Trial of Spirit was, just like how Onoma Toka had explained to Rune.
Iago spent a long time in meditation, with Rune there ready to pull him out in case something happened. When Iago awoke, he didn’t share what he had seen, instead writing it down and sharing it with the Jedi Council privately.
Rune was proud to see his first padawan make it to Knighthood. All those time wondering if anything ever made an impact was gone and now those worries were foundationless. Rune extended an offer to Iago, telling him he would be more than happy to carry on training him as a Watchman, but Iago turned it down. He said he wanted to get off of Mon Calamari and see the galaxy. Rune understood, and the two parted amicably. Iago went off to learn under many different Jedi Watchman, and Rune returned to a quite life on Mon Calamari, now as a Jedi Master and a Jedi Watchman
Betrayed: Ages 40 - 43
Rune spent two more years on Mon Calamari, two rather quite years. There was very little crime on Mon Calamari, so Rune didn’t have to worry about that much. Instead, his Watchman duties were more about helping Mon Calamari become a full member of the Republic. Rune continued all his training though, becoming a more adept Shien and Djem So user and increasing his force abilities.
When Rune was forty-two he got some troubling news about Iago. The most recent Jedi Watchman he was under reported that Iago had gone missing in the middle of the night, but that he had stole a holocron from the Jedi Watchman also. Rune requested to be the one who went after Iago, to attempt to bring him back to the Order.
Rune spent the better part of a year tracking Iago all over the galaxy. Rune went as far as Kamino and as deep and Tython. He followed Iago’s path of theft, and eventually murder. Rune’s heart as broken, what cause Iago to do such things?
Rune was forty-three finally tracked the wayward Jedi to an uncharted arctic planet. There he confronted his former padawan in a cave, pleading with him to come back to the Order. Iago told Rune that there was no forgiveness for the things he had done. He told Rune that the dark side wasn’t as bad as the Jedi were led to believe. Iago said he had discovered the truth while traveling. It was all nonsense to Rune. He pleaded again for Iago to come back with him, but Iago refused. Sabers were drawn now.
Rune and Iago fought throughout the cave system. It was a ferocious duel, each knowing the others favorite moves. Rune utilized Soresu the most, having not taught it to Iago. Iago attacked ferociously, eventually battering though and slicing a part of Rune’s face with the tip of his blade. This is how Rune gained the scar on his face.
Iago was tiring down, wasting himself by attacking Rune’s Soresu. Rune gained the upper hand now, and pushed the attack. Rune sliced Iago’s legs out from under him. The duel over, Iago pleaded for mercy. Rune took his former padawan, now his prisoner, back to the Jedi Temple. Iago would be imprisoned on Coruscant for the rest of the foreseeable future.
Galaxy at War: Ages 43 - 47
Rune returned to Mon Calamari. He spent the better part of two yeas planetside, in an self-imposed exile. He refused to take on another padawan until he figured out why Iago had fallen. All of Rune’s time during these two years was spent between his duties as a Watchman, which still included trying to get Mon Calamari to join the Republic, but that was coming close to an end, and meditation. He was hardly ever off planet, and never in the Jedi Temple.
When the war broke out between the Sith Empire and the Galatic Republic, Rune stood with many of the Jedi in a wait and see approach. As long as they stayed away from Mon Calamari, Rune decided not to get involved. However his hopes for them staying away were short lived.
A year into the war, now Rune was forty-six, the Sith launched the invasion of Mon Calamari. Rune fought viciously to save his homeplanet, piloting a starfighter against the space forces and landing when they landed troops. He refused to give up, and it eventually took a Mon Cal militia man to convince him to the truth. Mon Calamari was lost. Rune escaped the doomed planet aboard his Aurek Starfighter, returning to the Jedi Temple.
Rune told the High Council he still wanted to be the Jedi Watchman over Mon Calamari, and he wouldn’t rest until it was freed. They accepted this, telling Rune that he could have the position again once the planet was no longer under Sith rule.
However they also told Rune to be patient, and wait for the right time to fight back. Rune accepted their judgment however unwillingly. He didn’t want to join the Blades, fearing another Jedi Civil War like the Mandalorian Wars spawned, but he also wanted to fight for his homeworld. Rune stayed in the Jedi Temple for another year, going on any missions the Council had him go on.
Eventually, the Council decided it was time for Rune to choose a new padawan. Against his wishes, the Mon Cal Jedi Master started looking. He didn’t really want a new padawan after Iago, but he had to do as the Council ordered. Rune observed a young Miraluka named Kalan D'ravk. He studied the pupil for a week before finally deciding to take him under his wing.
Rune moved himself and Kalan out to Mustafar. There, he hoped to teach and train the young boy away from the galaxy, away from it's influences and danger. However, their stay on Mustafar lasted much shorter than Rune expected.
Called back to the Temple, Rune received new instruction from the Council. He was to become a new member of the High Council due to his courage and devotion. It was a sudden change for the Mon Calamari. Instead of relying on the High Council for guidance, he was now part of the High Council.
RP Sample:
Rune walked through a hallway in the Jedi Temple. His hands clasped behind his back and standing straight, he was a giant in the populated hall. Younglings, so innocent, growing up sheltered from the galaxy. He thought privately to himself. Not that he held their innocence against them. They were just children after all. But when they became padawans, many of them would find out the galaxy wasn't a pleasant place, and it would hit them like a smack in the face. Rune was reminded of when he first found out for himself how cruel the galaxy could be. It wasn't something he wanted to remember. Shaking the thought off, Rune continued on wards.
The Council had tasked Rune to start looking for a new apprentice. Since his last one fell to the darkside, Rune wasn’t too keen on taking another. The memory of their duel was still a fresh pain in his mind, and a healed pain on his face. Rune now sported a scar down the right side of his face, just before his eye, courtesy of Iago Kallous. Rune eventually gained the upper hand in that duel though, leaving his fallen apprentice for dead. He still couldn’t forgive himself for it.
The many little younglings in the hallway barely came up to Rune’s chest. They were being shepherded by Jedi Teachers, making sure no one strayed off their path. The younglings didn’t realize what Rune did, but they would be like that most of their lives. Being told to do one thing or another by the many teachers, their future masters, or The High Council itself.
Rune admitted that he didn’t like being bossed around, who did? But he followed everything the High Council told him. They were the leaders of the Order, and some would say the most powerful beings in the galaxy right now. Rune knew he owed them much respect, which was why he was here in the mist of hundreds of younglings. Rune moved through the hallway in a straight line, many of the younglings moving aside so he could go through. Rune flashed a smile a few of them, and they were just stunned for a moment. At that age, to have a Jedi Master smile at you was a big deal.
Rune turned into one of the many classrooms along the hallway. This one was filled with mostly older younglings; Rune thought and grinned for a moment at the irony of an old youngling. The Jedi Teacher here, a young Twi’lek who recently became a Knight, named Seku Bondara had invited Rune to come in during one of her many classes to see some of the older younglings.
He stood at the door way silently, no one in the room yet aware of his presence. The lights weren’t on, instead Knight Bondara relying on the many large windows at the opposite side of the room from the door for natural lighting. With the morning sun shining through, the light pouring in was almost a golden color. Knight Bondara had her back to the door, facing the board.
She was writing on the board while talking to her class.
Rune looked around at the classroom, all of the younglings potential candidates. Many Jedi Masters were tasked to take on a second or third apprentice against their wishes. When this happened, many on the Jedi Master would just choose a random youngling without making an informed decision. Rune decided that because of Iago, he would be very careful with who he chose.
The majority of the classes, made up of about twenty younglings, were paying attention to Knight Bondara. There were two sitting in the back however who weren’t. A green male twi’lek rested his forehead against the window. He held his head up with his hand and had a small smile on his face. Rune decided he was off in some daydream, thinking about what kind of adventures he would get into as a full Jedi. The second youngling was a rather tall human boy with brown hair. He was looking out at a notepad, scribbling on it. Rune assumed he was taking notes.
“… and that is when, at the end of the Mandalorian Wars, Revan and Malak left known space. We still have no idea to this day where they went.” Knight Bondara’s arm fell away from the board, and she looked down at a textbook she was holding. “Any questions?” Her voice was anything but sharp. She had a kind tone, and seemed very laid back. But Rune knew she loved her job.
“I have one,” Rune said from the doorway. “May I come in?” He asked with a smile.
The whole class, including Knight Bondara, turned to see who the newcomer was. Rune stood with his hands behind his back and a smile upon his face. Knight Bondara almost jumped at the sound of Rune’s voice.
“Oh Master Rune, I wondered when you were going to stop by. Of course you may come in.” Knight Bondara answered. Rune didn’t think he needed permission, but he wanted to be polite. It was Knight Bondara’s classroom after all. And he thought it sent a good message about always being polite to the younglings.
When Knight Bondara said he could enter, Rune sat down in an empty desk at the back of the classroom, between the two younglings who weren’t paying attention. A majority of the class turned to watch his entrance, probably never having a Jedi Master in the same class as themselves. Rune simply smiled a hem all, waning to put on a friendly appearance.
“Do you mind if I tell he younglings why you are here?” Knight Bondara asked.
“Not at all, in fact I would prefer if you do. Maybe you can cause more of them to pay attention to their work.” Rune said with a look in the young twi’lek boy’s direction. When the youngling saw Rune looking his way, he smiled and sat up, ready to pay attention.
“Younglings, Master Oki is here today to examine you, and see if any of you are what he is looking for in a new padawan.” A new padawan. Those words stung a little, but Rune didn't let it show. He needed a new padawan after his failure. When Knight Bondara hit the word ‘padawan’, there were many ‘Ooos’ and gasps of excitement from the class. Rune felt through the Force the nervousness of some of the younglings shoot up, including the young human that was taking notes. Many of the younglings shoot looks back at him as Knight Bondara started teaching again.
This is going to be a long class…
