Name: Abbabiya Simbassa
Race: Cathar
Age: 17
Height: 6'4''
Weight: 220lbs
Appearance:
Abbabiya Simbassa has hair that ranges from an orange-brown to a reddish orange covering his whole body. He has a scar down his arm and down his leg from a battle on Felucia. Green eyes and a confident face makes him seem like a powerful Jedi although his mind is clouded with questionable thoughts since the death of Master Narth.
He wears traditional Padawan robes. He doesn't usually wear his outer robe except on important or significant occasions. Most of the time he simply wears a tan shirt and a slightly darker tan slacks. His belt has metal notches on his belt for numerous lightsabers to be held although he only has one. He also has large black steel toed boots that are padded in the soles so it doesn't make loud clanking sounds while walking.
Personality: 'Biya (his nickname) is a very respectful padawan that always takes what he learns from his master to heart but, to other padawans, 'Biya doesn't give them the time of day. Since they are technically of equal rank, 'Biya, wouldn't really respect another padawan unless they gave him a reason to.
He doesn't really respect younglings but he has always had a soft spot for them. When he sees them he thinks of his days that he waited in anticipation to becoming a Padawan and likes to humor the younglings.
He does strive to be the best Jedi he can possibly be and would consider learning from a seasoned Jedi a major honor. He has no real painful thoughts about his parents because he was too young to really remember them well.
He has a curious mind and wonders why certain areas in the force are off limits to the Jedi. How can one side of the force be good and the other side evil? Isn't that like saying, one side of a sword is a good tool and the other evil? It's not the sword, it's how you use it.
In the midst of a fight, he can let his animal instincts take control of him and once he starts a deadly fight, he usually won't stop 'til he comes out on top. He's quick to anger and slow to forgive.
Since the death of his master, he has been quieter and more reserved... He tries to keep occupied usually continuing practices and exercises that he did with his Master in the past. Some days are better than others if he keeps himself busy enough but other days, he finds that he just doesn't want to leave his room.

Bio:
'Biya was born into a family of 6 (excluding his mother and father) in a small tribe on the planet Cathar. His tribe was encouraging partners to mate and have more cubs so that their tribe could grow to be the biggest in their region and to eventually rival the strongest in the world.
'Biya was the sixth cub born in his family. His mother had him while his eldest brother Rafiku was on his first blood hunt since he turned thirteen. 'Biya's mother knew there was something special about him and refused to have another child afterwards.
He grew up like a normal Cathar, running with the other cubs from tree to tree. His parents were happy to see that he quickly became the fastest and strongest his age. They always knew he'd be special.
One day, the origin of his special traits became clear. As he was sleeping amongst the other cubs, a giant insectoid native to the planet broke into the tree fort and carried off two cubs. There were three in there and 'Biya was the one safe. His parents were baffled by his luck and had heard of how extraordinary luck is present amongst force sensitive children. They told the chieftain. The chieftain wanted to exploit his gifts but luckily a Jedi Master, who had been taken on as an adviser to a neighboring tribe to try to bring peace to the planet, sensed a disturbance, fought for 'Biya's freedom and took him to Coruscant to be trained in the ways of the force.
The temple at Coruscant was magnificent the first time 'Biya set his eyes on it. The amazing shine off the sun, the peaceful flows of the legendary silver fountain, this was one of 'Biya's earliest memories. 'Biya was quickly taken into the High Jedi Council Chamber and the cub was scared of the many new faces who's eyes all fell upon him.
They were all speaking a language he didn't know when one rose and started examining him straight from his ears to his paws. He knew they were asking him questions but he couldn't respond because he didn't know what they were saying. As the Jedi circled him, he went black.
He had fainted from the shock and woke up a couple weeks later. Apparently, the luck of the force was showing itself again because if he hadn't fainted, he wouldn't have been examined by the temple's medical droids and they wouldn't have found out that 'Biya had contracted a rare disease from the giant insect back on Cathar. They operated on him immediately. It was a dangerous procedure and the fact that he woke up only weeks afterward was proof enough of his force sensitivity so the council officially enrolled him as a youngling.
In his group classes of training sabers, he quickly advanced towards one of the heads of the class but showed a lack of skill in manipulating the force. All in all, 'Biya felt safe and happy in his new home and started developing new ambitions as to what he could make of his life. It took him about four years when he finally learned Galactic Basic (although he still has a heavy Cathar accent).
It was difficult at first to make friends since he was learning a new language, new techniques, new lifestyles and he didn't even know there were different types of aliens out there! For the most part, he was shy and reserved towards other younglings in the order. All except Leena. Leena was a Chadrafan female that had been taken into the order around the same time as Biya and also didn't know Basic. They usually studied together and quickly became friends as they slowly learned the language together.
Sadly, this friendship would not last. Whenever Biya wasn't around, Leena would be picked on by the other younglings and, although most of the time Biya would be there to protect her, he wasn't always. One prank went too far and the council refused to reveal to the other younglings what happened, it was obviously very bad since the younglings responsible were punished for months and some were even taken to other academies. Ever since that day, Leena had been different, rarely smiling and she stopped progressing as fast as the others. Eventually she was taken into the corps and Biya never heard from her again.
After Leena, his youngling years dragged on for far too long in his opinion. At the age of 11 he begged and pleaded to become a padawan just one year earlier. He was denied and grew angry. He challenged a youngling one year ahead of him getting ready to become a padawan to a duel so he could prove his superiority. When the older youngling refused he fought him anyway right there in the hallway. A few knights broke up the fight and 'Biya was punished...he knew he would've won, too...
On his twelfth birthday, his long wait had finally ended and he could at last begin the next leg in his journey to becoming the greatest Jedi he could be. Biya knew he had to keep a calm mind and restrain his excitement so he made sure that he woke up with plenty of time to get dressed and make it to the council's meeting room with plenty of time.
He looked over his notes for the initiate tests quickly before moving through the halls. It was a nice day as he looked through the windows and between the pillars. The sky was blue and there weren't many clouds in the sky, giving Biya the privilege of admiring the sun. This was a good omen and would mean great hunting in his culture but today Biya would be finding something much grander than food for the day: a master.
Biya imagined what master would be presented to him. Could it be the new knight Locke Nemsee? The very wise Master Elgriq? Or the powerful, indomitable Grand Master Jace Beleren himself!? But perhaps he didn't deserve that high of an honor...
The tall Cathar smiled as he passed the younglings who were gaping at him in turn. They, of course, knew where he was going and Biya took pride in the fact that he knew he was causing them to have unbearable jealousy, but, their time would come. They must wait just as he had.
There it was, the ornate molding carved by Jedi High Council Members of the ancient days covering the immaculate entrance to the High Council chamber. Biya marched in calmly but with purpose. He rose his head to meet the council's eye-line but, although he was trying to remember every moment of it, the trials went by like a blur because of all his preparations and practicing he'd been doing in the past days and before he knew it, he had perfectly recited the Jedi code and taken his tests of knowledge of the galaxy and the force. He was ready to be presented with his master.
As Master Beleren and the other council members turned their heads to the door, Biya found that his neck had grown very stiff. He did not want to meet his Master after all! He wasn't ready but...it was too late to turn back. He turned around and saw a short human female that he had never seen before.
"Biya," started Master Beleren, "This is Master Dana Narth. You probably haven't seen her before because she has been serving as a substitute Council Member on Ilum, but now their numbers have reached a comfortable level and she has returned to take you on as here apprentice."
Biya stood silent. He would be lying if he said he wasn't less than satisfied. He had been expecting a powerful Jedi Master both masterful in the arts of lightsaber combat and the mysteries of the force...but...there stood a small, rather weak looking human female...
Apparently he wasn't keeping his dissatisfaction a mystery for Master Beleren spoke again, "Perhaps you should demonstrate what you've learned through your years on Ilum and prove that you haven't lost your touch Master Narth?"
Two Jedi Knights stepped to the center of the chamber as Dana moved to meet them both. After a curt bow between the three, their lightsabers were drawn. Two blue were drawn by the knights signifying two guardians most likely. Without any warning the Jedi switched from calm friendly stances to aggressive battle stances. The two lunged at Dana Narth immediately and Biya shielded his eyes to avoid seeing the small Master's untimely death. But he did not hear a blood curdling scream. He heard both blades being met by a lightsaber. He opened his eyes and saw Master Dana had drawn a double sided blue lightsaber! Not many double sided sabers were in the order and it was rare to see one in action.
The amazing acrobatics, the fluid, quick parries, the immense strength! Master Narth was making the knights look like rag dolls, making them fly around from trying to dodge her strikes to being plummeted by force pushes! In a matter of minutes the knights had been disarmed and Dana Narth was the obvious victor. Abbabiya Simbassa had a lot to learn...
After about two years of training wilth Master Narth, Biya had learned to respect Dana's amazing skills in saber combat despite her weak and frail build. He had found that the days of sparring practice, he'd started to look forward to and he'd be begging to spar on days of meditations and studying of holocrons. Master Narth could see Biya's restlessness and finally decided to take him on his first real mission off the planet that didn't solely practice diplomatic relations, although he had been to a few missions around the mid rim, Biya considered them to be rather dull and uneventful.
Master Narth decided to start to focus on Biya's growth in the force because his lightsaber sparring was coming along rather impressively while his force abilities seemed to lag behind. She hadn't really noticed any aspect of the force that she would consider decent at his age in fact. It was because of this that she decided to respond to a mission on Manaan.
They arrived to meet the Selkath High Council in Ahto City where they had received a rising number of Firaxan shark attack reports. Although, Master Narth did want to find the source of the change of aggression amongst the sharks, she wanted to test Biya to see how he would react when facing the darkside.
While Dana spoke with the local wildlife researchers, she told Biya to take a scuba suit and observe the behaviors of the Firaxan Sharks along the Hrakert Rift. Biya, of course, left as Dana wished down to the ocean floor with his rental scuba suit. He was also left with a stronger training saber than he had used thus far.
As he admired the ocean floor and the various wildlife, he did notice that no Firaxan Sharks were around. There was only a strange purple mist along the rift that seemed strangely attractive. As he followed it, he noticed that they already limited light began to shrink although he was going no lower in depths. He continued to follow the mist when he saw near thirty Firaxan Sharks all gathered around something that Biya could not see. But he could feel a strange feeling that he hadn't felt before. It was indeed appeal, yet, repulsive at the same time. He wanted to have it but he also wanted it destroyed.
As he was extremely conflicted in his mind, the mist consumed him and he didn't have the strength to move. He started blacking out as he saw a blue lightsaber stream through the water ahead of him towards the sharks...but...he saw no more...he fell unconscious...
He woke up hours later in their ships medical room with Master Narth seated on the right side of his bed. Once she had noticed that he had come to, she explained what had happened. She was fearing that he was not as strong in the force as a Jedi should be so she wanted to expose him to the darkside hoping that the shock would make him better. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. She also explained that what was changing the attitude of the Sharks was an ancient Sith artifact left to waste away on the ocean floor. She destroyed it as it should have been destroyed many years ago.
Biya was disappointed in himself. He had been waiting for a time to prove himself but he had failed...he was determined to get it right the next time around!
A year has elapsed since Biya's first failure on Manaan. Master Narth and her apprentice had been going on missions around the galaxy but nothing too straining on Biya's force abilities. Biya had noticed this and frustrated him. He decided that he must must must prove himself somehow. Maybe a way would present itself if he made a particularly powerful lightsaber on Ilum.
Over the past month, Biya had been collecting emmiter matrixes, focusing lenses and the other various parts used to create a lightsaber and he was on his way to Ilum to gather the last pieces: the Lightsaber crystals.
This would be Biya's first mission alone since his first venture through the depths of Manaan. Master Narth dropped Biya off on the icy planet and it was all Biya from there.
Biya, determined to create the best saber possible ran straight past the first crystals he saw, through different tunnels at random, down to the deeper darker circuits in the cave. He ran until he saw something strange, something attractive. He knew what he was looking at this time when he came across a patch of purple smoke! He pursued it and cleared his mind of all dark thoughts just like he had practiced. He knew that he must cleanse the cave before this taint infected the rest of the good crystals. Eventually, he found the source: a large blood-thirsty gorgodon!
While wildly blocking the influence from his mind he used all of his strength to stab the beast with his weak training saber. The beast was wildly thrashed about and shrugged Biya and his training saber off of him. With the last bit of strength he could muster up, Biya dove onto the large beast's back and dragged the saber down his back. After moments of struggling, the gorgodon fell to the ground and accepted its fate...
Confident with his work, he found the correct crystals he was looking for: one sky blue rubat crystal-just like his masters. Upon emerging from the caves and telling Master Narth about what happened in the cave, he was praised for his conquering of the possible dark influence when he was unsuccessful before.
Biya knew that this meant more dangerous and adventurous missions were on their way. He could not be more excited although, he did his best to maintain his outwardly stoic attitude.
Although, the slowly growing in popularity, duo of Master Narth and Biya had been going on some mildly dangerous missions in the past years (from successful missions that turned out to be very deadly on Tatooine, Dorin and Nar Shadaa), Master Narth's acceptance of the Felucian Mercenary mission really exhibited her trust in Biya. They were going on a mission to help lead a Republic Squad in to drive out a group of mercenaries who had apparently been trying to train the wild animals on Felucia to help with their jobs which could end up being a potential threat to the Republic. The success of this job would mean that Biya would greatly influence the stability of an entire government of planets!
Biya knew that the ride to Felucia would take a long time so he decided to take the time to meditate along with Master Narth. Commanding his own squad would take a calm and logical mind, an aspect that Biya had been lacking in his training during a battle.
After a few hours, their meditations were interrupted by the loud clanking of metal boots. "Master Narth!" Shouted a tall and strong Republic officer. "Lieutenant Crick here reporting! We have ten other soldiers in the barracks here ready to follow you to the death!"
"It won't come to that..." Responded Master Narth in a very calm and collected tone. "I'm sure this can just be a civilized talk between civilized sentients. We are not animals although we may be surrounded by some." She smiled and looked to Biya in a trusting way silently saying, You're ready for this.
They landed on the planet with no trouble and the troops were divided. Four to follow Master Narth up the jungle ravine leading to the assumed mercenary base and six to follow Biya through the cave passage and the assumed holdings of the beasts. Biya's job was to make sure the beasts didn't get loose in the event that Master Narth's discussion didn't go well.
Biya, along with Crick and five other soldiers made their way into the cave and through the passageways as quickly and quietly as possible. Through the steam and fog inside the caves they finally came across a huge furnace, probably used for branding. They made their way along silently and continued downward until they saw a group of about nine heavily armored mercenaries guarding the beast's cells and sharpening their vibroswords. Among the beasts, there included around twenty Kath hounds and two large Acklay.
Biya remembered that he must be calm when next acting. He stooped to a meditation pose and tried to concetrate enough to focus all his hearing towards Master Narth, as they had planned. He tuned in to their conversation.
"Although your proposition is tempting," said the mercenary leader sarcastically, "I'm afraid we are going to continue our work here..."
"Now, you do realize that by doing this, you are directly going against your governors, your government and your supreme chancellor?"
"...I trust you know your way out."
But his mind quickly lost contact as the mercenaries noticed one of the Republic soldiers, grabbed their weapons and fired upon the small battalion. Biya quickly took out his saber and went to work.
Focusing on his Soresu form, he deflected the oncoming fire back at the mercenaries. Using a force rush, Biya bounded behind a Rodian and Trandoshan mercenary and dealt with them swiftly. Two down, seven to go. He spun around and rapidly used his Ataru and Shii-Cho forms to dice up another two's weapons. Only five left. The other five were switching their tactics from spreading out their fire to focusing it on Biya. He wasn't ready for this and a shot landed on his arm. He dropped his saber giving another mercenary a straight shot on his leg.
Biya quickly used the force to fling a large boulder at the group which disabled them long enough to let Crick and the others land killing shots on them. It looked like this mission was starting to end in a successful fashion when the alarms went off all through the caves and reinforcements had arrived for the mercenaries.
Biya yelled, "Retreat!" Through his comlink and he crawled as fast as he could out of the caves. It took a while but he felt relieved when he finally caught a glimpse of the vibrant blues and reds and purples of the Felucian skyline. But, he was alone. He writhed in agony at his leg wound as he laid his body on a patch of soft brush.
Up on the horizon, he saw Master Narth sprinting his way using the force like she always does at unbelievable speeds. Without a word to Biya, she sped into the cave. Her bravery never ceased to amaze him. He knew she wouldn't leave until she saved every soldier she could.
Biya frantically tried to reach her telepathically but this was beyond his skill level, so he just listened and watched as he heard many slashes of Master Narth's saber and many yells from the mercenaries. He listened until, all of a sudden, he felt a dark energy in the force, like a wound...a loss...
Minutes passed and then hours...He knew a padawan would never leave without proof of a death. He waited a full day and then he heard an explosion. A stray shot amongst the fight had hit it and the cave crumbled...
He tried to call for Master Narth...but no response...
Eventually Lieutenant Crick came limping down the top of the cave rubble towards Biya, hoisted him up and said, "Come on kid let's take you back to Coruscant."
Biya didn't need to ask what happened nor did Crick need to explain. Master Narth was now one with the force and that's all that mattered. You hear people say that you change when a loved one dies...but you don't really know...not until it has happened to you. This was Master Narth's last lesson to Abbabiya Simbassa...
Since that day he has simply been waiting for him to be assigned a new master and for a new chapter of his life to begin.

(Biya's words are in purple and thoughts in italics)
Biya Simbassa woke up bright and early as he had learned to do under his past master...although he was waking up to nothing. The past month at the temple had been a dull and dreary existence. Nevertheless, he got up to do his daily exercises in the room of a Thousand Fountains. He looked out at the beautiful urban skyline and at the sunrise. He just couldn't enjoy it like he did though... He looked down at his reflection in the waters and just splashed his reflection away.
How could I have saved her!?
Biya thought of his master's death often now that his days were empty in awaiting a new master to step forward. He often had nightmares of that day. Many dreams just were cut sequences of his visions that day...of his Master's skill with the saber...her heroics...and of her death...
Perhaps if I had trained harder...or monitored the troops more... But his thoughts were interrupted by a couple younglings staring up at him with sympathetic looks on their faces.
"You know you're going to get a new master today right? You won't be bored anymore..." The Togruta youngling looked sad...Before Biya's last mission, he would often tell younglings like him of his journies, his victories...and his failures. The younglings enjoyed them but he hadn't spoken a word about his latest 'adventure'.
But he knew he shouldn't stay down like he had been. The youngling was right! Today was the day that life could resume like normal! He knew his emotions shouldn't take control of his actions. He got up and started walking towards the Jedi Council Chambers but, first turned to look back at the youngling. He smiled and gave the youngling a comforting, "Thanks. Life as a Padawan is great for most. I'm just running through a rough patch because of recent events...but don't let that discourage you!"
Biya turned back and went on one knee to speak to the youngling eye to eye as he had done many times before.
"Have you ever imagined what it's like to confront an entire pack of Kath hounds!?"
The youngling shook his head side to side in obvious interest.
Biya smiled..."Well, I have...It was a dark and eerie night on Dantooine..."

Finally Apprenticeship!(ages:12-13)
First Failure at Manaan (age:14)
First Lightsaber on Ilum(age:14-16)
Mercenary Activities on Feulcia (age:17-present)
