Name: Meenu Baumm
Race: Ortolan
Age: 50
Height: 4’10’’
Weight: 223 lbs
Appearance:
Birth place: Orto
Faction: Jedi
Rank: Master (Watchman and Head of the Archives)
Bio: Meenu Baumm is perhaps the least famous Jedi Master of all time. Literally nobody in the Jedi order ever discusses him, except in reference to his only student.
Baumm was born on Orto to a food-packager and his mate. Though his birth, family, or first weeks of infancy are of no consequence. Indeed, he is a shining example of the perfect Jedi. He was taken by a knight at age five days, and was brought to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, where he would live until age twelve, whereupon he was taken on as a padawan by the now-deceased Jedi Master Yyrek Beryyl. Though, it seems odd that he ever was taken on as a padawan, seeing as how he had, in classes, never shown any kind of true uniqueness or promise as a Jedi Knight. And such was the way his studies as a padawan were. Standard, ordinary, everyday. He progressed at the exact rate he was supposed to, and made his progression to Knight, all right on schedule. He was never ahead nor behind. Which made him boring, uninteresting. As faceless as a Jedi Knight could ever be.
But there came a time when his name became known to the Jedi Order. It was by pure chance (as if the Jedi ever really believed in chance) that it happened that Meenu Baumm chose the human Anden Rethur as his first, and only, padawan to date. If Meenu was ordinary, Anden was anything but. Anden progressed faster through his training than any other Jedi in the records (or so it was said, as this could not possibly be verified) and, after being chosen as a padawan at age ten, became a full-fledged Jedi Knight at the still-tender age of seventeen.
After this, Meenu Baumm was promoted to Master, as he had achieved the requirements. Though, the real reason he was promoted was because the Council fet it best that the one who taught Anden should be a Master. Indeed, immediately after becoming a Knight, Anden’s exploits as a Guardian of the Light were truly incredible. It seemed no matter where he went or what he attempted, he always succeeded famously. Soon, he came to be revered more than some Masters, including even his own former master. He came to be known as “The Great”, and great he was. Though, in this instance, the word “was” is used in the past-tense, and not as a narrative, for he is no longer great. Because he no longer is.
It was on a diplomatic mission to the sith aristocracy’s embassy to the Republic on Coruscant when it happened. A group of radical sith activists had studied Anden and had decided to make an example of him. When he arrived at the embassy, the cards were truly stacked against him. Fifteen doors magnetically locked all around him, and a hundred sonic detonators went off, causing a huge section of the surrounding city to vibrate, and turning the bones of Anden Rethur “The Greatest Knight who ever was”, to dust.
After this, a depression swept over the Jedi. None were affected as much as Meenu Baumm was. He ceased being the watchman of troubled worlds he had been during Anden’s time, and instead returned to the temple on Coruscant and began working in the Archives, rarely ever heading off-world. He has been there, in mostly silence, failure, and grief, for the past eighteen years, forgotten by the Jedi, and also by himself.
