The Mass Effect meets the Mass Dilema

So I recently attained the original Mass Effect. I'd say that, before anything else, calls for the following:

Now then. I fired up the game, and I'm already stuck. On what? It's not a particular enemy nor is it a stubborn mission nor a glitch nor a hilarious-yet-failed gameplay mechanic.

My dilema lies within the classes. VHICH VONE DO I CHOOSE!?!?!?

At the moment, and thanks to some research, I'm leaning towards the Soldier. I love being a tank, and I would never be able to swallow running around using nothing but pistols. I NEEDZ MAI BOOLETS.

However, I'd hate to abandon biotics and tech, which both sound fun as well. I would pick a (let's call them) cross-class, but at the same time, I want heavy armor. I NEEDZ MAI WIZARD SKEELZ, BUT ALZO MAI ARMOOR.

Sooooooooooooooo, that's where my fine fellow SWUvians enter the scene. Which class do you use? Why? Which would you recommend to a sophisticated brute?

Do first playthrough as soldier. Pick assault rifles as bonus talent for second playthrough.

However, Pistol is actually quite powerful in ME1.

You want armor and "wizard" skills? Vanguard. Vanguards get cool in Mass Effect 2 and 3 also.

But I did what Sparrow said, I played my first playthrough as a soldier, and I really didn't have to worry about combat too much and was able to enjoy the story.

So, I'm sure this issue is long resolved, but it's always fun to comment on, seeing as I just finished the whole series and apparently decided I was bored today.

I've played all the way through all three games as a Sentinel and loved it. Combat is exciting because OMG SHINY THINGS!!! and knocking out a shield and half health with overload, or facechecking everything with barrier/tech armor is just too much fun. Also, ME pistols are totally bitchin'.

Or maybe I'm just l33t. ;D

B'yeah, not sure which class I want when I play through again... 'cause gorramit, there are Insanity achievements to be had.

Possibly my favourite RPG series, amazing games.

I myself opted for a Vanguard on my first run-through and as my main Shep with Soldier as my secondary. My one complaint would be that the Soldier class felt a bit empty on ME3 what with all of the other classes getting access to every weapon.

I, unlike most, really enjoyed the ending (right up until the 'Tell me another story' part) and felt that it set Shep's crew up rather interestingly. Although some of the consequences of the ending really ask more questions than they answer.
