Name: Darin Morviro Saine
Race: Human
Age: 11
Height: 5’3
Weight: 115
Appearance:
Birth place:Tatooine
Faction: Dark Jedi
Rank: Neophyte
Bio: The babe was born in Mos Entha, the official capital of Tatooine, to a junk dealer and his wife. As his wife was unemployed, the household was not able to support a child. And so, in an act typical of the harshness of the desert planet on which they lived, they left the child on the doorstep of the local slaver’s outpost, to live or die never knowing his true parents. As it would happen, an aging man happened by minutes later, took pity on the boy, and took the mewling babe to his home. The old man was no nursemaid, but he managed to obtain synthetic supplements and formulas for the baby to survive. Realizing that the babe had been left with no name, the old man named the child after his own son, who had been murdered by Tuskens years ago, Darin Saine.
It was apparent at an early age that Darin was different from so-called “normal” children. He was walking at barely a year of age, and speaking in coherent sentences by the age of two, which caused many strangers to believe he was at least a year older than he actually was. To Old Man Alastair, as Darin had been told to call his adoptive father, this meant the boy would turn useful far earlier than his other “employees,” a loose confederation of street-rats and pickpockets, bent on robbing tourists and off-worlders blind. To the other children, it made Darin a freak, and someone to be avoided. Darin began learning to steal when he was barely seven years old. Old Man Alastair often had Darin practice on his adoptive father, learning to tail the old man and slip a credit chip from his pocket without the old man noticing. Darin also began displaying further abnormalities beyond his apparent rapid development. For one, the boy had almost supernatural reflexes, often reacting to things seconds before they happened. As well, Darin seemed to know some things about people on instinct. Who was an easy mark, who would notice them, but also where there would be a good place to sleep if Old Man Alastair was out.
His reflexes coupled with his amazing intuition turned Darin into an exceptional pickpocket by the time he was nine years old. For the younger children, this made him a role-model, someone who could be trusted to find them food and shelter at any time of day. For the older ones, it just made him a target, someone they had to compete with for favor with the Old Man. While Darin managed to avoid direct confrontation for the first nine years of his life, the tenth was fraught with almost constant scuffles. The older kids never tried to seriously hurt Darin, and that was their mistake. They always picked on him one-on-one, a situation in which Darin’s reflexes always gave him the advantage.
Days before his eleventh birthday, the older kids finally decided to get their act together and put Darin out of the picture, permanently. He garnered too much of the Old Man’s favor, earning the extra cash and food that should rightfully be theirs. As well, the younger kids looked up to him too much, and it made them insolent towards the older children, something that the Machiavellian order of a street gang could not survive. So they picked five of the strongest boys in the group, and waited until sunset, when Darin was often on his way back to the Old Man’s place, and ambushed him. Darin’s reflexes helped him to a degree, but against five opponents intent on beating the life out of him, they just weren’t enough.
The pain woke something inside of Darin. He began to hate the boys who were doing this to him for no apparent reason. And his hatred, coupled with the pain of the blows, fed a fire deep within. It was a flame the boy had always noticed but never paid much heed to until now. He stoked it, not completely understanding how or what he did, and suddenly everything seemed to snap. The world slowed to a crawl. Darin allowed his hatred to take over, and used his reflexes and strangely heightened speed to beat four of the five boys into submission. Their leader was the last, and it was on him that Darin let loose all his hatred, continuing to beat the boy long after he had fallen unconscious. Darin beat him until he was dead.
Horrified at what he’d done, but at the same time remembering how good, how alive he had felt while doing it, Darin fled, unable to face the certain wrath of Old Man Alastair. Darin stowed away on a Jawa sandcrawler, using the vehicle’s size and clutter to hide from the little scavengers, who would surely sell him to slavers. Darin left at the first sign of civilization, and now roams the streets of Anchorhead with no friends, family, or purpose.
