In response to a recent member's abandonment and the responses to his post stating such, I feel like we need to have a sit-down and discuss what could be fixed, changed, tweaked, etc. in the Various systems to make things easier on newer members.

I.E. Archiving threads wouldn't work, simply due to the way our boards are set up, but implementing a Direct-Search feature would be nice. Know the Thread name, or someone who's posted in it, and where it happens? Search with those modifiers and BAM.

Jedi > Silene > General Iroh, for example, would get the person a link to that profile easier than searching through it.

Also, A small subsection in the Introduction/General area that keeps all of the information for new members and character creation elements in one handy spot. Copy over the Jedi/DJ/Fringe/Civvie sheets and Requirements posts, and include the Rules/Forbidden aspects/etc.

This thread is another good great idea.

OK well i have at least one for the time being, but it would be the effect of a pre-built character list, or perhaps a request a Character list. Now i had this idea a while back and i know it seems to work for other sites, however i also know that the whole idea of character creation is to see how well people write. But this might be a handy piece for a newer member, and I'm just throwing the idea out, but it's defiantly something that could work. And there would defiantly be limits on them, but it's mainly to help ease new members into the site and see if they like it, because i know for a fact that some people who might like the site never get the chance to see because they never get over the first big obstacle of creating their character.

Again just an idea to help the newer members but something that might help out.

Jenno...that's not what i was saying.

Not sure about the other one but i meant more like, A pre-built character list where the new members could pick one they like and use it to RP with. But i could see how i was miss understood. Any way What you put was also usable, just not like i was suggesting. But mine was more like to pick a pre-built char or one that has a specific set of traits, or where you can ask for a character to be created for certain purposes.

Any way like i said just a thought.

Ehhhhhh, no, that's basically having someone make a character for you. That's just not how RP goes down here. We make people put a bit more work into their bios than most places because they get more out of it this way.

If you need certain character for a thread/mission, well, that's what we have NPCs for.

But the idea of having characters that are already constructed that people can come along and start using, that's just not something I ever hope to see us doing here.
