Xaojii, you are the first out of HUNDREDS. Thousands. [8,560,269 current players of Singleplayer and multiplayer, on a weekday night, as of right now] That has complained about Call of Duty 4 at all. It's going game of the year, along with Mass Effect. Believe it or not, but in real life... [what some war games, like COD 4, try to emulate] you generically don't take 200 bullets, carry 19 guns, a blender and wear oakleys. Well the last part maybe. I wear fakelys myself. But still! Singleplayer was decent, it wasn't the best, but where it shines...oh yes. Where COD-4 definitely shines is it's multi. Anyway. I'd rather shoot myself in the foot with a nailgun, pour lemonade on the wound and commit sepekku with a dull spoon than do a real life sim. Honestly. That's like an oxymoron. A sim. For real life. Seriously guys. At least for highschool. DnD, I'd consider. I'm too technical for the steam punk idea however, if it goes in that direction you'll have to count me out. Regnier probably thinks in the same direction. Not like our votes count for much in the big picture. Final fantasy is too...meh. I won't start. I already had my videogame rant of the month. Like Xao and Mass Effect, I'm the same with FF. Except I've actually tried it Now that everyone probably hates me because I stepped on all the toes possible [ooc not IC!] I'll shutup now. -Dedicated Gamer

You might want to reconsider, as I am now going to try and make a counterpoint to your arguement.
I myself have not played multiplayer. Except against my lil' bro. I do not have Xbox Live for either the 360 or the original, so obviously my opinion is going to be very different of each game I've played. Where a game shines for me is the plot, one of the reasons why I also take up writing, therefore my opinion of the game is that of supposed lunacy. Overall though I'd give it a 4/10 I also take offense to shooting communists and and people of Arabic descent, as I sypmathize for Arabs and their cause, and support the Communist movement. My opinion of that game was going to be very biased from the beginning. But I admired it for it's realism, as you pointed out.
My opinion on Mass Effect, is that of something similar. I've seen the previews. I've heard the hype. But the game did not appeal whatsoever, and due to everyone pressuring me to play such a "great game" and "masterpiece of digital entertainment" I ended up hating it. I never worked well under pressure. I've done all but taste this fruit you speak of.
/start dramatic speech music
So next time you decide to criticize me, make a note that I have a justifiable reason. And please try not to make me look any more or less of a gamer than anyone else here. I assure you; I AM GEEK, I AM INTERNUTTER, I AM GAMER!!!

well, I'll accept geek. True gamers play multiplayer >.> What's really weird is the MP for PC and X-box 360 is actually different. the weapon balances are much much different.
[low blow] I don't suppose you felt sorry for the Nazis in WWII during the rest of the call of duty series?[/low blow]
Supporting the arab cause and the communist movement?
Definitely one way to be unique I suppose.
Don't flame Mass Effect for advertising. Many other games have done it MUCH worse. You shouldn't shoot down what could be a good game, because people pressure you to play it. If it didn't appeal, that makes sense, but you make it sound like the Daikatana of modern games.
Or Star Craft: Ghost.
Or Duke Nukem Forever
Now if you REALLY want a game that's hyped...I present: Crysis.
Laaaaaaame. Farcry patched to DX10 with some nice supersoldier [oh so original] mods.

No, actually Nazis are the main one of the main reason I've steered clear from all the realistic war shooters out there. Done way too many times I hate WWII.
That and being born in Germany, I take it a little personal when they're all branded as Nazis. It's happened to me. And I just hate Hitler (who doesn't?). I admire the ideals that communisms has, and the goals it hopes to achieve. I also admire the Arabs extremists for thier devotion. Not many people would die for a belief like that.
HEY! I play multiplayer on the computer where it was supposed to be played, and where it was done first. Give me points for that...

............ok folks! Enough of that!
We're not doing a real life military anything, at least not in this century, so none of that matters.
We're not doing Mass Effect at this present time.
Talk about fantasy!!!

Xmas and Narnia adds together When I was a kid they used to show the old Narnia series on TV. Now that they have stoped I had to buy them on DVD. Which takes away some of the charm. But I still love it. I also watch Spirited away every new years eve before going out. And who the hell is Tuna?

Portal is going to take game of the year. COD4 is the same as every single other shooter, it brings nothing new to the table, aside from complete incompatibility with everybody's PC. ( Its EA, the frak'd you expect). Portal is the first game in , ohh, I'd say about 12 years or so, to bring anything new to the table. It managed to be fun and enjoyable, if slightly short, and actually made me THINK.
Now, to be fair, I haven't even bothered with Mass Effect, cause honestly it looks like a giant crock of sh*t. But COD4 is the same as all the other CODs. Oh yeah, they set it in now and gave you all sorts of cool gadgety bits, but when you strip that all away its the same damn game, stop kidding yourselves here.
The two games that its probably going to come down to are Portal and Crysis, to be completely honest. They have both done new things, but both different new things. Crysis's AI is unreal, and Portal is such a new breed of game nobody knows how to classify it. COD and Mass Effect do the same stuff everybody's been doing for the past 15 years, and will keep doing for the next hundred or so.
Oh, and we need a Zombocalypse RP...Baaaaad

Don't diss Mass Effect if you haven't played it. It's storyline is decent but it pulls it off well, the game play is almost flawless. My only complaint is the grenades button is too far away...but you don't end up using them a lot. Even if you don't like RPGs that much, it still can be a fun game.
I disagree completely with your assessment on COD-4 and Crysis. Unless you got it switched around. Crysis was HORRIBLY designed. "Here's a game. If your computer is halfway decent, we'll LET you run it. It won't look good, but shut the hell up, it's running."
There's nothing new in Crysis. The storyline is very bleh. I guessed what would happen the moment it turned out there was Aliens. The Suit mechanic has been done MANY times before. Only thing I can say good about it is when you have an 8800, the game looks very pretty...and the AI is decent. [Water effects are very VERY nice on an 8800, but they STILL lag. Honestly...]
COD-4 will run on a Dell P-4, 1.2 ghz with an Aging Radeon x850.
Come ON. Incompatibility my arse. They designed the game quite well. It almost always runs at a minimum of 30 FPS and ALWAYS looks good. the X850 normally gets around 25-30 FPS in the middle of some intense firefights. Reason why Call of Duty will probably come out is it's multiplayer. It's already on X-fires top 10 most played list. The singleplayer is short and sweet, but rather meh. It keeps you interested but not terribly enough to where you feel like you're obligated to finish it.
They're making a zombie killing game based off of the halflife 2 engine last I heard. somewhat of an idea of an MMORPG...but like first person shooter. or something. It's sort of interesting.
Bioshock also has a chance, but I'm not one for rather insane games like that, so I only played a few minutes of it.

The COD series has always had very good multilayer. I can remember spending many a night back in the day playing United Offensive until the wee hours of the morning online. Crysis, yeah, its got some issues with its system requirements, but so did Far Cry when it came out. ( At the time I had a Barton 2500 running at 2.6 ghz, 1 gig of Corsair ram, Nforce 2 Ultra 400 chipset mobo and a 6600GT and it'd run on medium high...kind of). Also, the X850 is an animal of a card, and is still faster than the X1600 series video cards.
The thing with Crysis is that it brings a new engine to the table, yes, its game play is...well...Crysis. The pulled the suit dealio off rather well, and in their defense, were looking ahead. A year from now when the 8900 series is out, with the new 32nm quad cores, nobody'll have a problem running it well. Yes, its annoying having to wait.
And Bioshock. What to say. Well, lets start off by saying I'm a huge fan of Systemshock 2. And , Bioshock is supposed to be its spiritual successor. Kind of. Except the difficulty is scaled back to the point where its silly easy, even on the hardest difficulty, and practically everything is directly lifted from SS2. Except the Inventory...how are you supposed to make an RPG without an inventory? Anyway, it doesn't matter, BS may , MAY, have a chance...if Nintendo starts a snow shoveling business...in hell.

On to something else! I was thinking.. What about a warcraft series RP? You got tons of lore to break down, alter, remove or add some new!
What if Arhtas was never born. And instead a few brave people would fight and try to stop the scourge from spreading trough the Eastern Kingdoms?
What if the humans of Stormwind Joined forces with the Orcs. And the rest where against them. The Night Elves could forgive the Blood elves. Lady Sylvanas betrays the Horde and joins the Alliance.
There are so many possibilities.

COD 4 is a great game guys I don't know what those other two are talking about But I like COD The different point of views from the different characters, even though the last 3 were basically the same. But I think thats what makes the game so unique. So your telling me that living the last few seconds of a characters life, blowing up soldiers with Aircraft guns isn't fun? If thats not an idea of fun then I don't know what is...
The online play is great as well i love the team death matches those are the best. And as a World of warcraft rp I say nay...I've lived through the horrors of that game once I don't need to see the rp as well. I'm up for a Fantasy rp i think some real good could come out of it...

hehehe... warcraft rp makes me laugh. I've seen some of it and i'd guess about half of the people involved are spammers and retards. then the in-game rp servers are just...jesus...I mean...wow...
fantasy rp is the way to go, i say not much better than it with the endless backgrounds and easily customizable rules.

Issues with a Mass effect RP: 1) Limited member base (game players only) 2) Limited RP setting (seeing as there is only 1 game, and no real cannon resources) 3) Would end up just being a free-form sci-fi once you outgrow the game world boundaries.
I would personally go with a fantasy one, as I think it would hold the most interest with both old and new members, have the best long term plot possibilities (each story will actively change the world we live and RP in), and the easiest content accessibility. (can we say Monster manual?)
And about Crysis, I must go 'NYA NYA' as the system I run currently can play the game at full everything and not even flinch. I just built this thing though. And Crysis Multiplayer with 64 people all spawning viechs is freakin' awesome.
