So, I've toyed around with the idea of doing a thread where I share some of my photography stuff for a while. But I'm lazy, and also not really sure if it'd be of any real interest to anyone but me on here.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut oh well. Guess I'll do it anyway. I'll probably take a while to get everything I want to get up--or not, I dunno--cause there's a looot of stuff to rifle through. Currently sitting on just over 17 GB worth of stuff. Part of that's because I save all my images in RAW format, and RAWs tend to be huge, but still, it's a few thousand pictures.

Anyway, here we gooo....

I'll start with the most recent, which is one of my favorites from a set I took earlier today when I had to go run out to a junkyard in the country for my internship to grab some pictures of firefighters going through some training


There are some more from the set. Might put them up later. This one was already converted and I'm lazy =P

Next set is from the SEC Tournament in March, one of the last stops on the Rick Stansbury farewell tour. Like most of you know, I'm in the band, and I do play with our basketball band, and we travelled there of course. I was right next to the court =P There are like 80 total pictures in this set, but here are a few...

Continuing with the theme of basketball, here's a shot from when Kentucky came to town, right before the game, during team intros and stuff.

Continuing along, I went to Chicago over the summer for my cousin's graduation. Here's the hat toss, and also a chance for me to play with a new telefoto lens I had gotten for my bday.


And now we've reached the point where I started getting into some pictures I had to do for class. A lot of these tend to be more conceptual than trying to show an action or an event, so yeah.


This is from a grave when we did some shooting in a cemetery. Don't have a clue what the writing means, but I've always loved that.


These are stairs. =P You go up and down them. I do like the way there's a bit of an optical illusion going on here. The same set of stairs is in the next image, looking all creepy in the middle of the day...


Aaaaand there's not really much to say for this next one. Like I said, conceptual. It just amuses me =P




And now I'm tired of resizing, converting, uploading, and picking through tons of pictures. So that's it for now xD

WOW! Those are gorgeous, Rugs! I love the first one most of all. Great job catching and framing the spray of sparks coming off that. It would have been easy to mess up exposure on that shot but I think you nailed it!

Guess it's time for some more

Soooooo yesterday I had to go cover some bands that were in a competition to see who'd headline at this big outdoor concert we're having later in the fall. I hated the way the stage was set up for most of the night, since some genius put all the big-ass speakers in places that were conveniently in the damn way, which made picture-getting more than a little frustrating.

However, one of the bands had a bass player that stood close to some lights for most of their time up, and while they might not be the must suited for a newspaper (I'll find that out Sunday...) his position allowed me, in between taking shots that would actually be useful for more than my artistic amusement, to toy around and have some fun with lighting, which is always fun. It was night, outside, and the direct juxtaposition of some fairly strong lights playing right onto the shadow intrigued me. I'm really quite pleased with the way they came out, so I figured I'd share a few of them.

Love the light angle in them, especially last one Though I know close to nothing when it comes to taking pictures, but like them muchly, very evocative^^

Bit of an update with some more stuffs:



This is something I just did when I was bored one evening. Since some friends and I have started a casual (and extremely silly) DnD campaign, I'd been wondering about playing with some shots of my dice rolling. So I played around and got a few, and this one turned out to be my favorite. Also turns out dice roll extremely fast, cause this was shot with a shutter speed of 1/400, and there's still a good amount of motion blur. The more you know, eh?

These two are from a salsa dancing festival thingamahwhatsit we had at school earllier in the semester. Had to get some shots for my internship. The one above is one that I absolutely love, and they're both two of my faves from that set.

Aaaaand this is something I did yesterday. As a few of you know, I'm about to be going into my last semester of University before I graduate. Some of you also know I'm in the band at my university. I somehow missed the plume drop off at our last regular season game and wound up with it still in my hat box. So I got to take some different shots with it and my first cowbell that I use for keeping stickers of the bowls I've been to, along with a little plastic football the alumni association was giving out at the Gator Bowl after the 2010 season--my first bowl game. Shame I likely won't have my plume after this year's bowl, or I could add a sticker for Northwestern. Oh well.

Been a while since I posted here, it seems

Anyway, one of the interesting things about my job is the opportunities that pop out of the blue. Hated to see the loss, but a house fire (no one was hurt) yesterday led to a lot of photos. Figured I'd share a few. Hate to muddy them up with watermarks, but internet...

They're also suffering from some compression from photobucket that's irking me. Sorry about that :S











I can say, nothing generates an appreciation for the hard work the men and women of volunteer fire departments put in like spending an afternoon with them.
