Name: Joran Odia
Race: Human
Age: 12
Height: 4'8"
Weight: 80lbs.
Appearance:
Joran can usually be identified by the near-constant smile that is always on his face. His skin is a soft sandy color, and his eyes are dark brown, almost black. Whenever Joran becomes excited, which is often, his eyes will lighten to a more noticeable amber color. His thick black hair hangs down to his shoulders, and he does his best to keep it neat and tidy. During his training with a lightsaber, he usually ties his hair back with a piece of cloth to keep it out of the way. Even though he's only 12 years old, he is beginning to get an somewhat lean, muscled figure, due to his interest in the physical training.
For clothing, Joran is quite content with the traditional tunic and pants he's given as a youngling. Generally, he wears light colored tunics that fit a little loose for easy movement as he goes about the temple. His pants he prefers to be dark, and also a bit loose, so as to not bind up since he values his speed and agility. On special occasions, or when the mood strikes him, he'll wear the dark brown, hooded robes that the Masters almost always wear.
Personality:
Joran usually comes across as a friendly and helpful bundle of energy to all he comes across. As a youngling, his knowledge of many subjects is somewhat limited to what he's learned in his classes, though he is ready and willing to give information freely to any who ask. In general, negative emotions haven't been much of a problem for the majority of Joran's life. Arguments would naturally arise from time to time, but his temper never got out of control. At times Joran wishes that he had skills other than combat-based like the other younglings seem to be so adept at, and this can sometimes upset him, though he tries to hide this.
Boredom is a constant part of Joran's personality, or rather, actively seeking to not be bored. Impatience, an excitable, nervous energy, and a fair amount of spacing off can be expected in any sort of social interaction. Adversely, Joran can focus intently on something that captures his interest. He is ready and willing to talk about and learn anything that could help him in his two areas of major interest, lightsaber combat and the Force with it's many applications. When talking, it's best to stay a few feet away though, as he often employs his hands in an animated fashion to go along with his words.
All in all, Joran is a pleasant young boy. Only one major issue has ever needed to be addressed, other than his lack of focus in some areas, and that would be his aggression. During any sort of training with a lightsaber, Joran will work himself into a highly volatile state. Naturally, as his focus slips, his technique and form does as well, which makes Joran even more worked up. Of course, the Master overseeing him steps in before he can become a danger to himself or others. Still, Joran has been unsuccessful in mastering this somewhat embarrassing flaw, though he works hard at it.

Bio: Birth and Discovery
Ysanne and Coris Odia had been married for several years, each with promising careers. Ysanne was an aide to a somewhat low-level bureaucrat in the Senate, while Coris had a steadily rising rank in the Republic's military. Each had their sights set for the future and how they would be somebodies instead of overlooked, overworked, and unappreciated lackeys, for lack of a better term.
Naturally, a child was the last thing on either Ysanne or Coris's mind. However, once the initial shock of this unexpected surprise wore off, they quickly warmed to the idea of bringing a child into their lives. Months passed and the closer the date for the child to be born got, the more the happy couple began to plan the child's potential future. With parents involved in politics and military, where could their offspring go wrong? Of course, the best laid plans of parents are overlooked if not ignored completely by the midichlorians.
The child, Joran, was born in a Republic hospital of course, and the routine procedure of testing for Force sensitivity was administered. With that one test, their son's 'planned' future was suddenly up in the air. A Jedi representative was at the hospital before the family had even been cleared to go back to their homes. At first, Ysanne and Coris were adamantly opposed to the thought of suddenly losing their only child after having just added him into the family. The Jedi agreed to their decision, and started to leave, when Ysanne suddenly asked him to wait for a moment.
Ysanne's job had been difficult before, galactic politics being what they were. Now though, with the Republic going through so much, she may as well live in her small office. Coris too was going to be busy, being a member of the Republic army meant that the majority of his time was going to be off-world. Between the two of them, the time spent with their new son would be minimal at best, and they hadn't the money to provide constant care for him with their current financial status. Giving up Joran, though difficult, would be the best thing for their child, he would be safe and well taken care of at the Temple. Saddened by this realization, Ysanne nevertheless agreed to let the Jedi take their son to the Temple. Coris was hesitant, but Ysanne urged him to think about what kind of life Joran could have with the Jedi, as opposed to growing up being a stranger in his own family. With his wife's persistence, Coris finally relented that living at the Temple was a better choice and gave his permission as well.
With both the parents permission, the Jedi accepted the baby with assurances that he would be well taken care of. Tearfully, Ysanne and Coris said their final goodbyes and with that done, Joran departed with the Jedi, so start a new life at the Temple, so quickly after beginning his first life.
Entering the Temple to Age 6
Joran was placed in the care of the handlers who worked in the nursery, since he was still to young to begin formal training. Joran was a normal baby boy. He played with the other younglings, gradually advancing from crawling to working on walking with out falling flat on his face. Babbling advanced from inane gibberish, to inane words grouped in befuddling ways. Also in this short period of Joran's life, he displayed his first usage of the Force, catching himself before bashing his head against the floor after he'd decided to have a go at running and his feet failed to respond appropriately.
After reaching an age where he was self-sufficient enough to leave the nursery, Joran was put with the Katarn Clan to begin his training as a Jedi. He took to the basic training as well as any of his other classmates. Studying the ways of the Force was a fascinating experience to him, moving things with concentration and focus, sensing things he couldn't sense normally, all aspects of the Force amazed him to no end. Likewise, physical training was something else that greatly intrigued Joran. It wasn't that he was exceptionally strong, or fast, or even very agile, but there was just something about moving around and sometimes using the Force to enhance his physical performance beyond his normal capabilities that piqued his interest. Lastly, when he was given his first practice saber and was told to ignite it, he felt a thrill like no other. He wasn't particularly talented in practicing with the remotes at first, the excitement making him unable to focus completely on the Force, but he took every small stun with a smile, knowing that eventually, he'd get the hang of it.
Despite the thrill of his favored classes, there were also those he dreaded and wasn't quite on his peers level with either. Politics bored him to tears, mathematics were achievable yet utterly mind-numbing, and science was confusing, plain and simple. As his teacher's noted his lack of interest, they voiced their concerns to Joran's clan, who took it upon themselves to aid him. With some intense tutoring, quite a bit of fact-learning, and alot of hard work on the slacking youngling's part, Joran was soon back up to acceptable levels. Grateful beyond measure to how much his friends had come to his aid, Joran did his part to return the help, by letting his almost fanatical interest in the Force and lightsaber combat take hold and making an acceptable tutor out of himself in those areas.
Age 7 to Age 12
The next few years found Joran working quite hard at his classes, the long hours he'd spent working with his teachers and fellow classmates had finally paid off. Enhanced training and quite a bit of practice brought Joran's wandering attention and somewhat nervous energy down to manageable levels. Long hours of meditation quieted his mind and focused him, enabling the eager youngling to tap into the Force with increasing ease.
With the new level of control he'd finally gained, Joran finally began showing his true potential as many of his peers had. His interest in the combat-oriented disciplines of his training showed good results. He was now able to deflect many of the stunning blots the training remotes shot out at random, dodging the ones that slipped past his flashing blade. Despite the obvious advances he'd made since the beginning of his training, Joran still had yet to be chosen by a Master or Knight. This small fact began to bother him as the days passed, with only a year to go before he'd have to join the Jedi Corps or leave forever, he found himself quite worried with where his future was headed.
