Name: Marel Vand
Race: Human (1/4 Morellian)
Age: 99
Height: 6’ 2”
Weight: 178 lbs
Birth place: Criaxa
Appearance:
Personality:
Marel Vand is nothing but ambitious. He is cold, detached and blunt to the fault. Typical for a man who wields power, Marel doesn't like being doubted. Low tolerance for haughty youngsters causes conflicts, especially with his daughter Aerith. He wants nothing else but to get rid of the girl by marrying her off, preferably into a powerful Sith family.
Despite this, he still loves his daughter, though he finds she reminds him too strongly of both himself and his deceased wife, leading to conflicts and adoration that seemingly contradict one another.
Pride is an important part of his personality, especially when it concerns his home planet and race...which is disputable. Taking pride in his heritage helps to forget that there is not much honesty in claims he is a human through and through. The Morellian part whilst not visible, is a permanent thorn in his side. And a source of shame Marel will do everything to stay hidden.
Despite rather cool exterior Marel can be found exploding with rage on occasions, when pent up frustration will be too much to bear. In such moments he is able to say cruel things, hurtful things but not that he would be ashamed of it. As a Count, Marel believes he has a right to do it. After all governing a planet is a hard thing to do....
Many would call him rude, disrespecting etiquette when he sees fit. It is a part of this rebellious nature that brewed in him since Marel was just a child. This makes him someone people would avoid on official gatherings, simply because you just don't know in what mood Marel will be this time around. And if will be sober.

Bio:
Marel Vand was born in 3700 BBY, the only son of Aston Vand. As he would later come to repeat quite often, his upbringing was extremely rural and filled with hard work. There were chores, and there was always something in need of doing by the oceans of the world. Aston was perpetually at work, and Marel followed in those footsteps.
From an early age, the son took after the father, though he embodied many negative traits as well. Marel was haughty even as a child, recognizing his father’s role and successfully riding his coattails. He would have been an insufferable brat, if not for the fact Aston worked him severely. If nothing else, Marel earned an impressive work ethic.
There was one void for him growing up, which was the role of mother. His mother had died when he was only nine years old, and the house he grew up in was masculine. Despite this, he did have an aunt named Jalara, who he found to be a perplexing old woman who never seemed interested in anything fun. Her visits were few and far between.
Unlike his father, Marel was not a well-educated man. He had tutors, but they were rather basic and almost crude in comparison to most academia. He was never destined to be the scholar his father was, but instead his attributes showed one clear trend: leadership. Marel was an excellent leader of men, an inspirational young man with a knack for public speaking.
In 3670 BBY, construction began on a new estate, which Aston had designed personally, and Jalara had contributed her own aesthetics to. However Aston passed away two years later, and Jalara ten. Marel was left alone, the sole remaining member of the Vand family. He wore that mantle with pride.
Aston left his son with the title Count, and a legacy to carry on.
For the next twenty years, Marel built up an Empire, putting Criaxa on the map. He was a founding Sith Aristocrat in 3653, though probably a third tier member.
Shortly thereafter he met Ahra, his wife. She was without a title, but with no small dowry. Her parents were the founders of a company on Jaemus, and they commanded a certain respect. Needless to say, Criaxa was abuzz with the marriage. Everyone loved Ahra, an attractive brunette woman with a penchant for exquisite dresses.
Marel and Ahra’s relationship was deeply special, and she truly was his everything. When he was at his most stubborn and unreasonable, she would say a few simple words and soothe him. He did everything for her, and he expanded the estate so she could live in further opulence.
With Ahra, Marel had a son in 3644. His name was Dar, and he was the heir. His birth was the cause of celebration, and his parents loved him dearly. In 3639 he was joined by Rega.
Their third child, Aerith, was not planned, and arrived as an accident ten years after Rega’s birth. From the beginning it was clear she was not the favorite child, though the Criaxan public adored a daughter to fawn over.
Apart from his wife, Marel Vand’s primary passion was business, and he used it as the means to an end. Up until 3619 BBY he was the undisputed ruler of all Criaxa, formally the head of the government. When it was finally suggested to him be enough advisors that a nominal democratic government would be for the best, he agreed to institute a new governmental system, but insisted on using his wealth to dominate it.
In 3605 BBY, Ahra fell ill, and despite the best medical care, she died a few months later.
Her death set up a change in Marel. He became more introverted, and harder to tame. His stubborn refusals became more adamant, and he was harder to reason with than ever before.
By 3603 BBY, he was one of the wealthier men in Sith space, but he didn’t fully appreciate it. He’d delved into the governance of the Empire, but doors weren’t opening for him as swiftly as he would have liked. There was to be one more sudden change he couldn’t stand.
In 3602 BBY, the Sith Order assassinated the wealthiest and most influential aristocrats, which Marel saw as an outrage and a fright. He was simultaneously furious and terrified for his own well-being. He splurged for lavish defenses at the estate, but he also had an opportunity.
Through careful maneuvering, he raised the prominence of the Vand family greatly, easing his way into the first tier of families. It was small consolation for his losses, but he took pride in it nevertheless.
