The NGT Thread

Hey everyone, welcome to the NGT thread.

For those of you who don't know, NGT stands for "Next Gen Team." On the boards, you can recognize them by their blue names. They assist the moderators in reviewing characters, and are generally helpful people. When new mods are needed on the site, the NGT are usually the first people considered.

When the staff looks for new NGT members, we try to identify members who have been on the site for a while and have shown a willingness to help review character bios for other members. This is described in more detail in the "How to Become Staff" thread.

Now here's the part where we need your help. The staff generally has a decent idea of which members have been active and helpful, but we can't see everything. So if there's another member out there who you think has been super-helpful and/or has written good character reviews, use this thread to let us know about them.

Also, a friendly reminder that ANY member can review characters for other members. In fact, it's encouraged. If you're not sure how, check out "Kella's Guide to How to Write a Proper App Review", and don't be afraid to ask any of the staff if you have questions.

I think maybe a first notion would be to have a thread where people "express" interest in becoming a NGT that way you can just keep an eye on their progress from the get go

I'm just gonna toss this out there... Swampy. His application reviews are polite, fun and accurate, he's always sunny and friendly, and steadily on the site. He'd make a killer NGT I think!

I am still enterested in a NGT position, i've been around quite a while, and i don't see myself leaving anytime soon. (unless some such weird stuff happens when the v5 come 'round and for some reason my account gets fried.)

Anyway not sure if i'd be considered, but still, just thought i'd refresh my old comment.

I often find myself having prolonged conversations helping members in the CBOX with details (some of which can be confusing too a new member, it seems very expansive too them at first, and sometimes overhwhelming) and questions that they have about SWU.

I've revied hundreds of apps and character profiles in my day, and Admin my own site, I'd love too help out even more if possible. I'm an active member, pretty well liked (I'd like too think ), and I feel I'd be fair and try too get them approved best I could without disturbing the overall view they're going for when creating their character.

I'd also like too give an official *nomination* too Adobi Wan Kenobi. He's one of the most helpful and loyal members you guys have around here, I see him help people with questions whenever he's on just as I do. So, while I did kind of nominate myself, I'd like too approve of him as well.

Well, if I'm wanted in the position I'm more than happy to fill it. I certainly plan to stay here until hell freezes over and is eventually thawed by the uses of fossil fuels there. Thanks for the kind words!

I actually mentioned this earlier to swamps over Skype. In my own opinion I think that before any of the three recently mentioned candidates could be considered for promotion they need to be putting out more reviews. This is the NGT's main focus and I don't think that the current candidates have really shown what's sought after (details of which are mentioned in a link Sparrow provided in his opening post).

If you want to approve your review technique then your best bet is to see if a member of staff can give you their opinion on one of your recent reviews. Or even one of the ex-members of staff who have experience with reviewing.

I've stepped it up with Reviews recently, in light of what Jenno's stated will be expected of me; any input from anyone of course will always be welcome. But I try too be as thorough as possible during them.

I'll be doing 4 Reviews a week if that's a fair enough number. Perhaps more if there's an excess of finished unreviewed bio's in any given section. But mainly...just try take some of the weight of typing of endless walls and amounts of reviews off of some of these boys shoulders.

I would highly recommend (if you haven't done so already) reading other reviews by mods or NGT to all three of you. Bio reviews are not to be taken lightly, and be sure to check your facts before stating something. I've seen many a member give another member wrong advice over something silly, and it's best to avoid this.

If you're ever unsure about something you're reviewing, please, please do message (preferably) the mod in charge of that section, or any if you can't get a hold of them. We'd rather get a message from you uncertain about something than a disgruntled member lol!

I have to say I throw my vote in for Cassanova. I know I'm knew and I don't know many people but she has been absolutely amazing at helping me with my new character creation, helping me to learn and make the changes I need to have an effective character application in place. Plus she's friendly and nice as well. She has made my arrival around here a nice event instead of something to be nervous over.

Well i thought i was doing ok with reviews for a while. Though i guess i should give warning my latest reviews are off the books, most of the time done in C-box, or via PM. However i'll work on making more official frequent reviews sense you think it necessary.
