Just tossing this out there

Well, because I've written several characters now whose backgrounds either involved or touched up this topic, it kinda' got me thinking and figured may as well just suggest as a broad term for the site. Which is the brief war with the Mandalorians fifty years prior to the current site plot line. How about just terming it as "The Second Mandalorian War", so then we (because I've seen several others do this too) don't have to keep referring to it as "the war with the Mandalorians fifty years ago" or some variation therein. If something like this is already out there and I'm just ignorant to it, then my bad, but if not--then as the thread title says--just tossing it out there.

Well, it was a bit more than skirmish. A skirmish by definition is just a single minor battle in a war. ;D

If "war" is too strong of a term (even though the site's own plot calls it a war, though a short one), then how about "The Mandalorian Conflict", I don't care exactly what. I'm just suggesting coming up with a term for it, so then it doesn't have to continually be labelled as "the war with the Mandalorians fifty years ago", or some such.

Never did give it a name, but I think Mandalorian Conflict's a good one.

I'd say the:

• The Mandalorian Conflict of (Year)
  
• The Mandalorian Incident of (Year)
  
• Mandalorian Rebellion of (Year)

Any one of those are fine (though I'm a bit weary on 'Incident' one), I'd just keep the "of (Year)" bit out, because kinda' the point of the suggestion is keeping the name/label simple. Besides, while it was just a brief war/conflict/rebellion/whatever it's still a major conflict.

Regardless of how soundly the Mandos got their *** beat in it, they still attacked what I assume were at least several Inner-Rim worlds (no exact number was given), and the final fight (from what I understand when I was inquiring about it back when I first joined the site a few years back while writing up my Mando Shannon) took place on Coruscant and it was where they wound up being utterly decimated. But again, despite how badly they were smacked down in those battles, that's all straight up inter-galactic warfare anyway you wanna slice it (which is why I'm weary of the 'Mandalorian Incident' one, because that's more than just an "incident" ). So it stands out above the "of (Year)", more so given they were suckered by their Mandalore at the time who signed the treaty that forced the Mandos into becoming Republic citizens.

So it's all more than just a few skirmishes here and there, it's more than the rebellion that happened in 4567 or whatever. This was a harsh knock to them that nearly put them out completely on the galactic scale.
