Bio:
Norpo had a relatively normal childhood except for his interest in technology. Other kids could be found outside building forts and playing sports. He was found inside building machines and testing their function. Albeit the things he made were simple at first, they soon grew in complexity as the creativity he had matured.
Most toydarians were content living below galactic standards, but he found ways to modify existing technologies for better performance or convenience. His tinkering started with appliances and cleaning supplies but later grew to vehicles, weapons, and systems.
Norpo also had fancied himself as part of the Toydarian defense ministry. He joined after his standard education and was trained to meet standards with blasters. He managed to be put into an engineering sector of the ministry which allowed him to become more educated wile pursuing his passions. Norpo was given a chance to prove himself by escorting a Hutt who had visited the planet to hunt grabworms
While hunting, Norpo mainly had to provide security against anyone seeking to attack the Hutt, but that wasn't a large concern. While following the hutt, he tinkered with his blaster to see how far he could push its capabilities.
A wandering toydarian got caught near the group. Without thinking, Norpo tested his new blaster. It killed the grabworm, but it also overheated greatly after expending all the energy. The hutt had noticed his tinkering all the while and kept a special interest.
Norpo was a hero in a way, he did save a toydarian, but he got little recognition for his deeds. He continued serving as part of the defence ministry. He had failed romances and attempts at family that disturbed him deeply. Eventually he met a female toydarian that he fancied while serving as a diplomatic escort. The lady managed to flirt with him and lead him on only to abruptly halt one day after telling her father, who was a businessman with legal power, that Norpo was forcing himself on her.
After a distressing legal battle that served no purpose other than to ruin any reputation he had. The woman and her father seemed happy. He was innocent. Anyone who knew him could attest to his personality. But he learned quickly that money and power trumped all in the galaxy.
Norpo changed. He began to grow antisocial and aggressive while obsessing deeply in his work. He was too poor to buy major gadgets or parts and was left to tinker with what he could salvage or steal. He worked dead end jobs and barely scraped by. He lost his housing and lived on the streets under the judging eyes of the society that didn't know him as a person. He began to resent people as a whole regardless of any species and slowly his hatred turned him into what he hated.
Living on the streets was hell. Some people would help you here and there, but throwing money and food at someone in poverty didn't do much good. Eat and sleep for a day then prepare yourself for many worse ones to come. When the weather turned, Norpo found himself hiding in tunnels, doorways, and crates. With a ruined reputation, no one wanted anything to do with you. Jobs wouldn't hire you with a ruined reputation.
Norpo wondered if life would be merciful and allow him to die or if he would be tortured by living in limbo. People called him lazy for not having a job. They said people like him were a blight on society. Norpo got offered an under the table job selling illegal substances. He took it but quite days later. He was desperate to live, but he couldn't bring himself to essentially poison others.
Norpo blamed himself. He hated himself. At least, that's what he told himself. Humans were worse. They had no regard for someone not of their species. They pranced around as if they were the best things to happen to the galaxy. Hutts weren't much better. They were greedy, but you know what you were getting into with Hutts. Above all else, he had a special dislike for women. He didn't hate all women, but he certainly became judgmental towards them.
The hutt he had escorted some time before returned to toydaria to hunt grabworms and was surprised to find a skilled toydarian living a dismal life. He watched the toydarian as he went about his life. He could see the burning passion within. The hutt offered Norpo a deal he couldn't refuse.
Norpo accepted a position at a discreet arms and transport company named Alacritech. He was hired on as an engineering associate but managed to work his way up to chief engineer. His lust for revenge still burned. He was given an opportunity to visit a company and asses the use of it for Alacritech's resources. The visit meant he would have to return to toydaria.
Norpo accepted although unsure why he was given the opportunity since such tasks were given to executives. Upon his visit, he realised that the small business was owned by the two people who had ruined his life. They recognised Norpo and refused his offer. Angry that these two people were still the bane of his existence, Norpo suggested a hostile takeover.
The takeover took some time, but Norpo was pleased with the results. The man who took him to court was thrown out on the streets. He and his daughter stood to lose everything. After the takeover was successful, Norpo was confronted by the daughter, the woman who was responsible for all his trouble in the first place. Furious at his actions, she vowed to get revenge.
Norpo put a blaster to her head and began to talk in a tone that seemed so cold and distant it could have killed on its own. He told her how his life had been since she and her father took him to court. He told her about all the health issues he experienced and the therapy required for such trauma. He slapped her with his blaster.
Norpo explained that he had spent years burdened with the responsibility of something he never did. He was socially ruined on his home planet. He told the woman it was her turn to bear the burden and be responsible for what she had done. Before flying away, Norpo told her that he would not kill them. He had no need for violent revenge. The lady and her father were free to kill themselves if they could not handle accepting the wrongs they had committed.
The moment for ultimate revenge was at hand. Just a simple pull of the trigger would have changed everything. The crooked people responsible for his bleak life could have been taught a lesson that couldn't be taken away. Just the twitch of a finger and everything would change.
Norpo couldn't do it. All the hate. All the pain. All the suffering. It wasn't enough to make him take a life. If he killed them, nothing would change. There would be no justice. Norpo left them. They were losing everything now. The physical pain he could inflict barely held a candle flame to the emotional suffering they were going to experience. Maybe then they would understand the severity of what they did to him.
Norpo began to focus more on work and home. He had a living space that fitted his needs. While he preferred to fly, it was a death wish to fly around Nar Shaddaa outside of a vehicle. Since he didn't like the idea of piloting a vehicle, he used public transport when available. If necessary, the company would have someone provide transportation.
Norpo's life returned to normal. He spent most of his time doing job related things. He managed to produce some prototype weapon and engine systems for Alacritech and was rewarded. Unfortunately, there was fine print written into his contract. Desperate men wouldn't notice the terms. Desperate often didn't care. The time was approaching when Norpo would be confronted by them.
RP Sample:
"I hand crafted this blaster so that it would use ammunition and energy more efficiently than you have ever known. I made it so you would have no issues. Yet, you want me to sell it to you half price? I have bills to pay! Surely your republic can handle the original cost which was already quite generous. Or do you humans simply want to take something for free from someone else again? The republic should be lucky you aren't diplomats." Norpo held up his hands and hovered while the representatives from the republic military talked amongst themselves.
They probably thought Norpo was a typical rude and greedy toydarian, but he didn't care. He saw the republic for what it was, a business that wanted to drive everyone else out of the market so it could control everything. He took pride in his work and felt insulted that the delegates thought they could get the weapons so cheap.
The sith weren't much better. They paid, but they always doubted the product. As for as Norpo was, they were one in the same. The executives didn't care much as long as he made products they would buy. Normally he didn't care either, but he had been on edge for a while now.
He remembered the man he used to be. He used to be dutiful and naive. Now, he was different. He was more worried about his products than people around him. As much as he dismissed the notion, Norpo had to admit he had become the one thing he never wanted to be. Regardless he had money, more money than he ever would have as a royal guard. He was also removed from the petty political fights between whatever faction found a need to bother the current ruler.
All that glittered was not gold. It wasn't happiness. With money came power and with power came privilege. Norpo could do the things that made him feel happy even if it wasn't true happiness. What good was fulfillment if it meant you had to give up everything in life?
Norpo saw his boss, Sesmal the hutt sitting in the shadows. Those eyes he knew all to well. Sesmal was more stubborn than he was greedy. When the hutt wanted something, it went after it. Norpo supposed that line of thinking is what made Alacritech what it was today.
Norpo hovered over to see what the hutt wanted. He didn't like the look in its eyes, but no one ever did.
"Norpo, it's time we discussed your contract."
"What do you mean? Have I done something wrong?" Norpo was confused by the statement which felt all too ominous.
"No, my boy. You have done well. You have always done well since I met you. But there was some fine print we need to address."
Norpo began to sweat. As much as he respected Sesmal for all the opportunities he had been given, he also knew that a hutt talking about fine print was bad for anyone. "Well what is there to discuss?"
"I want you to do something for me. I want you to rig the supplies the republic buys. I want them to malfunction and discharge."
Norpo's eyes went wide with the thought of what he was hearing. "I value my work and put everything into what I do. You're asking me to sacrifice everything I work for."
"No, I'm asking you to do something much more. How long do you think it is until the republic comes after us? When they do come after us, I want to make sure we have an advantage." Norpo thought for a minute. He knew what Sesmal was saying could be true, but it went against everything he did. "There was a lady toydarian at the bar you are eying isn't there? Do this for me and I might be able to do something for you. Also, I will reinforce your position with the company."
Norpo felt betrayed again. The hutt who saved him from a bleak life living a dead end was now asking him to betray himself. There were credits involved though. Money. Power. Those were the two things people saw and respected. No one cared how hard you worked if you were poor. And it was questionable if the republic card about anyone outside of government and maybe corporate interests.
Norpo steeled his nerves and accepted the inevitable truth. He told himself this is who he was. The man he thought he was could wither away because it was no longer relevant. He floated out to the delegates feeling the eyes and grin of the hutt on him the whole way.
