Callidus watched with anticipation as she turned it on. He smiled as she held the blade clumsily in her hand. Despite his close proximity to the blade and the inept wielder behind it, Callidus did not move. His force senses would alert him to any danger the blade posed far before she could land any blow, accidental or otherwise on him. The excitement was building inside of him, but he showed no hint of it. Perhaps he could bring her to the darkside here and now.
"The weapon you hold here is a venerable one. Upon the edge of blades like the one in your hand, the true history of this galaxy has been forged. Millions have fallen to its might. The presence of one skilled user of this blade on a battlefield is worth battalions of common soldiers. These weapons however, are merely symbols of our true power, physical expressions of what our abilities allow us to do." Callidus had entered totally into his monologue, teaching mode. Passion was flaring up in his refined voice.
"Their successful use demonstrates our command of the Force. For only those touched by the force may use these weapons effectively. Otherwise you are more likely to kill yourself with the weapon than any potential opponent." Callidus stood still and observed her with the blade. She did just as he predicted she would, not harm herself with the blade. The Force guided her.
"Go ahead swing it. You will see that the blade itself has no counterweight to it, thus you have no way of knowing physically where the blade is relative to your body, but as you will see. You somehow know where the blade is in space. You will instinctively feel it." He paused to give her an opportunity to try it as he said. "Why do you think you managed to dodge the ignited blade so quickly?" His goal was to now make her think about herself and her abilities. She was now demonstrating as clear as day - at least to those who know about lightsaber use - that she had to be force sensitive.

Holding the saber as if it was going to bite her, Danica turned her head stiffly toward the Sith Lord. Shock still displayed on her oval features as the heart raced from sudden adrenaline rush. Callidus began to explain in heated tone, even with the mask Dany could tell the growing excitement. Like a teacher eager to tell why his knowledge is so important for the world. ”Huh...” She said, still looking rather shocked. The woman understood what the Sith Lord wanted to convey but couldn't really feel it. Force was still something fabled and out of her reach, why would she even handle the lightsaber?
Wait...
Danica moved her gaze from the Sith to the saber, then back, inhaling deeply. Trying to calm under this possible revelation. ”I..I could use that?” She asked, still processing what already knew. I am not a freak! Her mind protested. The idea of her being Force Sensitive just didn't make sense...Did Cassius know? Did Nieraan? How did Callidus could know it? Danica frowned at the swarm of questions that this new knowledge woke up.
The woman held back her curiosity and agreed to humor the Sith, awkwardly shaking the lightsaber, leaving faint trail of light. It felt...strange to hold such weapon and feel so familiar with it. Every move pulled something in her soul that dictated her body position to avoid the blade. With awe Danica began to swing the burning blade, by accident cutting a glass in half. She yelped again and let go of the saber that died when lost contact with her palm.
”I did that?” Danica asked, pressing hands to her mouth, watching the clean cut that severed half of the glass. She finally looked up to meet Callidus' masked gaze, swallowing through suddenly dried throat. ”Because I am Force sensitive?” The woman said weakly, not even trying to mask the odd shock that washed over her. It was the most logical answer but somehow it sounded too surreal to be true.

It was for a fraction of the time slightly strange for one of the inexperienced to handle a lightsaber, while Haust himself was a master at wielding it with grace, fluidity. Danica was handling it like a child and it showed when ever she struck something and yelped, first her hair and now a glass. Even as Callidus offered the monologue of insightful instruction and humor to hint the fact she was force sensitive, though she wasn't aware of it.
It reminded him of past time when non force sensitives decided to lift a lightsaber to attack him and he watched as they cut themselves up to three times in a vain attempt to use it against him before he would amuse them and finish them off himself. Though it was curious that Callidus chose this route, perhaps he sought to take her on as an apprentice or in the least train her and let her choose her own path however three seconds into the thought he was able to determine the usefulness of a force sensitive, especially the child of Cassius.
Though Haust didn't know much about him as Callidus did, the reports of his success in the underworld and label of being hard to kill was enough to consider him formidable. Especially being a human, only the few talented human's in the galaxy made it far in the criminal underworld to be consider a 'crime lord'. and the mere fact she was force sensitive meant she'd attained it from one of her parents, given the success of her father it was enough to assume that was the source of his power and success. It made sense it would also explain the association to Callidus and the past associations they had in terms of such lengthy histories.
Haust gave off a small chuckle as she dropped the lightsaber and finally asked the question that both he and Callidus knew the answer to, it was a priceless moment to see her in shock and awe of her own ability, to have it be unknown for so long that she held the power in her hand to mold the minds of sentients and change the course of the entire galaxy.

Callidus stood back and watched with no small measure of amusement as she handled the blade. She was awkward with it, like a Jedi youngling with their first training saber. Her senses were still weak and he feared that if she tried anything too dangerous for now she really would hurt herself. It would be unfortunate but perhaps beneficial for him to know that she would be so foolish from now. Alas though, she managed to not harm herself. He listened to her questions but did not respond at first. He would allow her to sit in her confusion. When she finally dropped his blade to the floor, a move which irked him slightly but it was understandable. He would have the droids buff out any scratches. Using the force, he called the blade back to his hand. It was curved, magnificently designed, and elegant in form. He returned it to his belt, aware he was better armed now but still vigilant for potential threats.
Callidus took up the tone of the understanding teacher, "Correct, Danica. You have been so your entire life. You possess a power few can even comprehend."
Callidus moved over towards the viewing glass, with his back towards Danica. "You should thank your father, he has provided you with an immense source of power - your hatred and angst. These can be the tools with which you use to destroy him." With that thought Callidus contemplated the greater picture. Perhaps he was giving Cassius too much credit but he thought that all of Danica's life. All of the treatment and disappointment has been to prepare her and test her to be his successor.
The idea of it was brilliant and for a moment he gained a great deal of respect for Cassius. By not training his own daughter, she would be forced to seek help elsewhere - showing personal initiative. By mistreating her, she would have a wellspring of powerful emotions from which to draw from. If she was truly worthy of being his successor, one day she would have to grow strong enough to defeat him. It was a masterstroke plan of Darkside genius. The ideal method of carrying on your legacy. However, this was all conjecture. Callidus had no way of knowing for sure, but regardless, either way Cassius would be defeated. If this truly was his wish, out of respect for the man and out of equal hate for him, Callidus would be happy to oblige him.
Callidus turned back to Danica, the truth behind his desire to meet with her about to be revealed. "You have great potential, you only need now to go out and realize it. If you desire to be truly strong, I can teach you. Like you I am a man of business and like you I am force sensitive and a Sith. Few beings combine these traits in one. Yourself, Haust, and myself are among the select few."
Callidus held out the palm of his hand and clenched it, in so doing, he shattered the rest of the glass through the force to emphasize his point, "I can make you strong enough, wealthy enough, and wise enough to destroy your father." He spoke slowly and deliberately, allowing each trait - strength, wealth, and wisdom - to hang in the air.

The blade returned to its owner with a surge of the Force enveloping around the sleek design. Danica watched this familiar process and suddenly began to think she could do it to. Maybe. The knowledge of this dormant power rendered the woman speechless for a moment. It had to be some weird dreams, how one can spend almost thirty years of one's life without having a slightest clue? Small chuckle coming from Haust brought her back to the reality, coaxing crimson flush of embarrassment to blossom on her usually colorless cheeks. ”But being Force sensitive, doesn't make me one of you.” Dany finally said, exhaling slowly. The girl's trembling hands neatly folded on her lap, giving the young businesswoman a posture of scared schoolgirl.
Her expression changed when Callidus mentioned Cassius and livid green eyes flared with anger. ”My father took everything from me, I can't see how this is helping.” Danica retorted sharply, for the first time during this meeting showing her short-temper; catty and backbiting nature that ran deeply in Liviana family. The woman narrowed her eyes with growing suspicion, absolutely unable to accept that Cassius had any hand in who she had become. ”I don't hate him, I just want him dead to finally get some peace.” It was a blatant lie of course, even though the girl firmly believed this. She resented Cassius with every fiber of her being – old, ossified anger of a neglected child still brew in the woman, no matter how strongly Danica tried to deny it.
Apparently Callidus noticed it, he was a perceptive man which made her uneasy. There was too much of Cassius in him. Would it be just changing one cage to another? This thought made Danica wary, which showed in how the woman's muscles tensed under well fitted suit and jawline clenched tightly. Her gaze fixed on the glass with alcohol's leftovers swirling at the bottom. For a moment she didn't understand full implication of what the man was saying. Teach her? Danica blinked, surprised.
”I am nearing my thirty, I am afraid it may be too late for me.” The woman replied carefully, jumping in her seat when the glass exploded under pressure. Golden liquid misted her hair with faint droplets, giving it sticky shin. Confused, Danica patted them, quickly trying to get rid of the expensive drink from her already slightly damaged coiffure. 'All Force users I know began their training when very young.” She added, frowning with displeasure at the unpleasant stickiness that nestled in her dark hair.
That dramatic glass breaking was absolutely unnecessary... The woman thought, trying to stop herself from immediately accepting the generous offer. It was too tempting – to gain power that would destroy her father. To best him in something, after all Cassius despised Force users. But for what price?

(Haust has taken off for the week apparently so we will just move this along. My apologies, I was waiting for him.)
Callidus watched the woman closely. He was curious to see how she would respond. Perhaps he was wrong, maybe just didn't have the fire to be Sith, the fire to defeat her father. He would have scored enough of a victory here without turning Danica. He was about to sigh and reconsider until he saw the passion flare in her eyes. He could feel it in the force, a raw untapped, pure hatred. It was magnificent. He allowed himself the momentary pleasure of basking in it. He was correct about her wealth of dark side potential. Rarely had he seen a being with such fire. Now he was sure. To not hone such a talent would be offensive to the Sith way. He could not allow this raw power to not be brought to the order, and more importantly, to himself.
When she said that she didn't hate her father all Callidus did was shake his head. They both knew she was lying. He didn't think it merited a response. Her stubbornness could be her biggest obstacle, but thus far it had given her an ambition that was almost immediately visible by looking at her. When she mentioned her age and that force users were younger all Callidus could do was chuckle, "Do not believe the lies the Jedi seek to plague this galaxy with. It is true that most have been trained since birth. However what is far more important than age is ability. You possess a raw potential that I could hone into a deadly force."
Callidus began to try to play on her ambition and desire to end her father. "Through the dark side all things are possible. What you can achieve is only limited by your own inhibitions. I can force the weak minded to do my bidding, I can buy off armies. What I offer you here is the greatest source of power you can imagine."
He paused to let that idea sink in for a moment before continuing. "Imagine you march into your father compound lightsaber in hand and the Sith army at your back. You toss his guards aside with ease. Calmly you stroll through, confident that none can stop you. You cut through your father's last defensive wall. He is broken and defeated, knowing death is close at hand. He cries out asking for your mercy and begging you to not kill your own father. His life hangs in the air. You reach your hand out and by the sheer hatred in your heart you crush his bones slowly. Each moment retribution for the year of pain he put you through, each moment a testament to you victory over him. In the final moment, you are in control. Finish him and bring the story to an end, or allow him to live. This is perhaps the cruelest choice of all. Forcing him to go on knowing his defeat and shame."
He stressed the monologue at parts to express how much power and control Danica could have over her father. He spoke slowly and with conviction, using all his years of persuasion behind his words. "This is the opportunity I present to you."

The man shook his masked head and for a moment Danica believed he regretted his decision but soon those doubts were quickly put to rest. Callidus didn't stop in his tries to lure her toward the dark side. Such power...The woman watched numerous times skilled force users, envy them this ability to break basic law of physics and now she learned this potential slept in her as well. ”I am..not really a fighter type, I doubt I could learn how to use the saber. “ She said, her eyes moving to the hilt that so recently had been in her hands. The woman was a trained dancer and wasn't a stranger to the physical hardship but bruised easily and was generally of frail condition. The idea of going through another physical regime didn't make Danica feel very well about this whole perspective.
In silence, the woman listened to the speech, pondering. The image Callidus painted was luring but Danica didn't want to make hasty decisions. There had to be the price for that, there just wasn't such thing as free lunch. And the woman knew exactly who to ask. ”You are a powerful man, I don't doubt that and my father respects you enough to leave alone.” Danica admitted, wondering if that would change if Cassius knew of this new arrangement.
The image of her broken father tickled one of the greatest dream. To make him beg for his life, to pay back for years of slow, deliberate abuse. Though one thought flashed in her mind, causing a frown of worry. ”If it is so easy, why my father is still alive. You are enemies after all.” The woman asked suddenly, looking at the expressionless mask. She did want Cassius dead, broken but if the Sith was such a powerful enemy, why he hadn't dealt with it years ago? Was there a catch?

Callidus could sense her slowly giving in to the embrace of the dark side, to the allure of victory. This was excellent. Once one began down the road it was almost impossible to turn away. He looked to her when she mentioned a lack of physical ability, 'oh the things she would need to be taught' was the only thought on his mind. "My dear, through the dark side you will find yourself capable of feats you thought previously unimaginable. I have seen decrepit old men move nimbly about and cross blades with the young as if he were still young himself. The beauty of the darkside is that, if you follow it's true path, you may never actually need to fight any opponent yourself. Look at me. I am a master of the Makashi lightsaber form and yet I have not raised my blade in anger in many years. I have people for that, and you could too one day. If a Sith is forced to use his blade in anger when he does not wish to, he has failed to follow our way."
Callidus checked himself before he began spouting off Sith philosophy. He considered himself a master of the subject but even he had to admit that some of his beliefs were unorthodox with most Sith. This fact however, he attributed to their misunderstanding. He stopped watched as she crept ever closer to taking his offer. Callidus knew the image of her father's life in the balance would please her but then suddenly she posed a challenge to Callidus. He smiled devilishly under his mask. The woman had a sharp mind. The asked the obvious question. This kind of doubt, this kind of mistrust and analysis were all perfect Sith traits. Callidus knew the answer already though and he would be truthful with her, "In all honesty, while I have no love for your father, recently he has posed no threat to me and thus has not been worth my time. You see the Sith way is about victory. Not pointless victories in petty squabbles, but true victory over the obstacles in your life. Removing your father would be of some use to me but it is not my greatest concern. His life and death however, are the focus of your life. They are your story, and defeating him would be a true victory for you. A victory I can help you achieve."

The made some kind of sense, maybe there were Sith who wasn't physically able but made it up with other traits. Maybe the case wasn't lost but the doubts were still lurking in the back of her head. The dark side twisted things, made them ugly and unapproachable – as a very vain being, the thought of getting marked by the dark side didn't sit well with her. A man could maybe look pass it, but a woman? Danica though wondered if it was only Jedi propaganda to stop people from stepping this border.
This idea certainly needed talking it over with someone who wasn't indifferent to her fate and there was only one such person so far. ”I don't really know what Makashi or forms are.” She tried to smile, thinking Callidus spoke to her as someone already well versed in such things but in truth, the woman didn't know a lick of Force philosophies. ”Your offer is tempting and it is something I will take into consideration, but now I need to focus on earning money, for both of us.” Danica explained, not really wishing for the Sith to take offense at her for taking some time to rethink this whole ordeal. Not every day one learned about being Force sensitive. It was comforting to hear though, Cassius could be insignificant since for years he was someone Danica just couldn't ignore, in her mind he had raised to a powerful monster, unstoppable and dangerous. Apparently there were forces much more dangerous than him. ”I am aware that Cassius needs to be dealt with for me to get some peace and I will consider your generous offer.” The woman said, bowing her head slightly. It was rare for Danica to show respect to anyone but the Sith was nothing but nice so far, a very refreshing experience. Of course he had a business in that but unlike Cassius, Callidus didn't abuse his power over her.
”I look forward to our business deals in future. It was a pleasure to meet you.” Danica smiled genuinely, waiting if the man had anything to add. For once she didn't really give an empty compliment, Callidus proved a sensible ally, not a raving monster Jedi warned people about. She did wonder if his look under the mask was equally pleasant as an overall demeanour but not one time curiosity killed a cat. Some queries was better to leave unanswered.

Callidus relented. He put his hands behind his back and nodded. This needed to be handled delicately. He was surprised by his own restraint. He hadn't used his force abilities to force her will to conform to his own. Using that power was a dangerous path however if he wanted her as a true ally - at least as true of an ally as a Sith could have. Doing so now would mean he would likely have to do it for all of their future interactions and its effects could wear off once he was removed from her presence for an extended period of time. It would not be worth it.
The thought of her leaving at this point of ambiguity was discomforting to him. She had enormous potential and if he could not utilize it, he could not, would not, allow anyone else to. Now that she knew she was force sensitive, she might seek out training elsewhere. He hoped that his words had been convincing enough. he diplomatic tendencies in him felt they had been and that the best course of action was to let her go as a sign of good faith. He briefly considered capturing her here and now but allowed the idea of pass. He sought a greater victory.
Once again, maintaining his fatherly-teacher tone and diction, Callidus replied, "Likewise. Miss Liviana, I will not force your hand. I am glad our business here has been concluded amicably. I look forward to our next meeting. Consider my words and my offer carefully and make the best decision for you. What I offer you cannot be replicated by anyone else in the galaxy, trust me, I have checked... I wish you well in your business. I will check in with you in a few weeks if I haven't heard anything as to how things are progressing. If there is nothing else, I do believe our business is concluded for now then."
Callidus would have to watch her carefully. He would probably assign an agent to do just that. If things did not go as Callidus desired he may have to act, for now though, he would be content to just wait. Callidus is a dangerous man, not one to be crossed lightly.
