Kaiven is almost always seen wearing traditional style garments. His tunic is sleeveless, and is made from a light, silky, black fabric, and is worn loosely, allowing him freedom of movement in combat situations. He wears brown pants of a heavier nature, with brown, leather boots topping just below his knee. His boots have numerous buckles up the outside of the leg. His cloak is a dark brown colour, and is once again fashioned traditionally. It is loose fitting, and his hood is almost always up. Beneath the shadows of his hood, Kaiven wears an Echani-made, metal mask, which is coloured predominantly black, except for a blue cross (in a similar fashion to that of Christ’s cross), with the short line including the slit over his eyes, allowing his vision. Occasionally Kaiven is required to wear battle armour. For this, he uses standard armour issued to him by the Republic, coloured black. Once again, he wears his brown cloak over the top of this.
Because of his mask, most people only see the tanned colour of his skin, his dark brown, but also greying hair, and the deep brown eyes visible through the vision slit of his mask. Before his features were destroyed by the Krath who had captured him, Kaiven’s features were said to have been rugged, yet attractive. He had a sharp jaw line, often covered with stubble. His lips were often set into a smile, showing his warm, happy nature. However, after his torture at the hands of the Krath, Kaiven’s face remains severely scarred, and those that saw his face upon his rescue found it hard to recognise the once attractive man.
When in combat, Kaiven dons his armour, as seen in the picture (minus the helmet). On the left of the chest is a blue cross, and on the right is the symbol of the Jedi Order in blue. He also wears a different cloak, with the Jedi Order insignia in blue on each shoulder.
Birth place: Bakura

The Beginning – Parentage – Jedi Order
Everybody knew that the moons of Bakura were rich with relatively untapped resources, and it was only a matter of time before sentients from all over the galaxy began to move there. Among the first to arrive was an ex-Republic Army commando named Xaven Te’Baas. As Xaven stepped off the transport ship, he looked around with his one remaining eye, before setting out, heading towards the small mining company that he had just taken over. By genetics, the Te’Baas family led by example, and although Xaven was the owner of the mines, he went in every day, assisting in the mining. Unfortunately, life in the mines was tough, and this led to Xaven drinking increasingly more.
One night, after a shift in the mines, Xaven and some friends went to a bar in the city. Whilst there, and whilst becoming increasingly more and more intoxicated, Xaven’s eyes fell upon a young woman sitting with a friend at the end of the bar. He continued to make advances all night, and all night the young woman seemed interested. Eventually, she left, and Xaven followed quickly. He took her back to his house, where the two slept together. In the morning, when he left for work, she left for home.
Nearly a month and a half later, and Xaven was awoken by a knock at his door. He instantly recognised the young woman that he had slept with some time ago. She told him the news that would ruin him forever, in his eyes. She was pregnant. Eventually, however, Xaven made an offer, one that would give support to his potential future heir. He took her into his house, with promises of support. What the young woman, who he found to be called Hayna Prood, didn’t tell him, was that she had also been kicked out of home by her father, who believed that she was a sleeper.
8 months later, Hayna, now Hayna Te’Baas, gave birth to a daughter, Jaesra. Jaesra soon became spoilt. With Xaven’s business increasing rapidly, he did not know how to handle the sudden amount of money that he had. He moved the family into the richest suburb in Salis D’aar. After a few months there, Hayna informed Xaven that she was once again pregnant, this time, with a boy. The two agreed upon a name immediately. Kaiven, after his paternal grandfather, a decorated Republic War Hero. However, all was not well in the family.
As more money came in, Xaven’s old addictions came back to the forefront, with the man being drunk most nights of the week. Unfortunately, Xaven remained a violent drunk, regularly beating Hayna for trivial reasons. When Kaiven was three, however, this violence reached it’s end. Once again, Kaiven, and Jaesra, who was now five, watched as the two parents argued. However, this time, Xaven’s attention turned to his two children, who he thought to be at fault for this. He stared at Jaesra before saying, “If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be in this mess.” He then proceeded to pull out his blaster, firing once and killing his daughter, before finally passing out on a couch in the lounge room. Overcome by grief, Hayna took the blaster and killed Xaven in his sleep, before turning to Kaiven. When she raised the blaster, she noticed the tears in his deep brown eyes, and couldn't bring herself to do it. She turned the blaster on herself, firing once, and leaving Kaiven alone.
Kaiven was moved into an orphanage, where he stayed quiet, keeping away from the others. The carers distinctly believed that the child was traumatised by the death of his family, as he would often cry and scream at night. Naturally, he was bullied intensely, and the carers at the orphanage were unable to do anything, as Kaiven would not stand up for himself. However, that was about to change. One day, when confronted by one of the bullies, Kaiven ran, so the bully began to throw rocks at him. In clear view of the carers, Kaiven raised a hand in fear, trying to protect himself. The rocks, although still flying slowed, resulting in Kaiven only receiving minor damage. One of the carers, a mysterious aged woman recognised immediately what Kaiven was. Force sensitive. The woman contacted the Jedi immediately, organising for the Jedi to come and witness Kaiven for themselves. Luckily, there was a Jedi Sentinel already on the planet, and on the council's orders he ventured to the orphanage to witness it for himself, and what he found could not be doubted. So, at four and a half, Kaiven was taken to the Jedi temple on Coruscant to begin his training as a jedi.
Training. Youngling – Padawan
Accepting the beginnings of a Jedi was far easier for Kaiven than it was for the rest of the younglings in his class. Unlike the others, who had been cared for and nurtured either by the Jedi or their families, Kaiven had been abused. Unlike the others, who had to leave someone, all of Kaiven’s family was dead. He had noone to miss, and only pain and suffering to leave behind on Bakura. As such, he seemed quicker to the uptake of Jedi training than the others. He still, however, had difficulties with dreams about that fateful night.
One morning, he asked one of the consulars in charge of his training for help to get rid of the dreams. The consular, whilst admitting that it was a severely horrible act to have seen, pointed out that grieving is a natural part of life, but to dwell on the emotions for so long was unhealthy. He took Kaiven alone into the meditation gardens on a regular basis, which continued through his entire time as a youngling, eventually allowing him to come to terms with the death of his family.
As Kaiven developed, he began taking more and more classes and when not in class or training, he was often found on his own in the library, looking to further improve his knowledge, skills and beliefs, seeking to become the best that he possibly could. In this time, he also met many older knights and masters, mainly consulars, who he regularly asked questions. Although they were generally simple questions, some left the older Jedi baffled by his increasing wisdom. They widely recognised that, although he was only eight, the name Kaiven Te’Baas would be a name that they would definitely remember and look out for in the future.
Although he liked and respected all of those ranked above him, he did have his favourite. Jedi Master Phoe Raxan, an old man and a guardian who had already taken a padawan through most of her training. Luckily for Kaiven, Raxan, who was a human born on Corellia, took a liking to him aswell, and Kaiven often accompanied Raxan and his padawan at the time, a young woman called Fih Losun, in training sessions. Raxan immediately noted the raw skill that Kaiven had, even going so far as to break the rules train him alone, teaching him fundamentals of a few different techniques, but none that would be noticeable in his classes with the consulars.
Once again, Kaiven had someone close to him torn away. Unbeknownst to many, Master Raxan had been suffering from a terminal illness for years, and at night, in his sleep, Master Raxan finally passed away, on the eve of Fih Losun’s knighting ceremony. Unfortunately, Losun was immediately moved into service, using her skills as a Guardian wherever they were needed, so Kaiven returned to his old ways of classes, individual training, and time in the archives.
When Kaiven was ten, Fih Losun finally returned to the temple for an extended period of time. She immediately sought out Kaiven, and resumed Raxan’s old training regime, a test to see Kaiven’s true potential for herself. After a few weeks, Losun requested to the council to be allowed to take Kaiven as her padawan, and the council gave their permission.
Padawan, Mission to Dxun, and Losun’s Change
Unfortunately for Kaiven, when Fih Losun took him as her padawan, there was not much work for a guardian, which meant a strict, intense training regime, harder than any he had experienced before, would commence, as Fih, who only cared for Kaiven, wanted to see him make the most of his potential. His knowledge of Shii-Cho, achieved in his time as a youngling, was the base for the beginning of his training beyond fundamentals in two forms, Makashi, to prepare him for fights with Dark Jedi or other sword and sabre wielding opponents, who seemed to becoming a more and more regular occurrence, and Shien/Djem-So, to give him the ability to fight against opponents using a blaster. The training was hard, often leaving Kaiven utterly exhausted.
During his time with Fih in the Temple, Kaiven was presented with the items he needed to construct his lightsabre as a gift from his master. Naturally, he set to the task immediately. In the time he wasn't training, he was meditating over his crystals, and when the time came, he constructed his first lightsabre, a blue single-phase sabre with a simple metal hilt.
After a few years consisting of the intense training and small, insignificant missions generally caused by border complaints, a small uprising started, originating out of Dxun. The Republic Forces mobilised, aiming to crush the violent uprising before it could claim more lives. The Republic requested assistance from the Jedi, but the council rejected this request. Six Jedi and their apprentices, who saw that the violence from the uprising to be endangering and damaging life on the planets they assaulted, was what they were meant to protect from. These Jedi, against the wish of the council, joined with the republic forces as Jedi Generals and Commanders. Amongst these were Fih Losun and Kaiven Te’Baas.
Although the war was relatively small, the fighting was intense, with most of the fighting going down to head-on combat between infantry forces. Kaiven, who had no prior training in leading an army, was thrown into the deep end. It was a sink or swim situation, and Kaiven, who was now eighteen years old swam. He led his battalion with ruthless efficiency, whilst still managing to keep within the parameters of the code. His battalion, the 112th, soon became known was the Republic’s Hammer, a name earnt by it’s reputation for beating all opponents out of their way. The Republic army was closing on the last point of their planet-hopping campaign, the moon of Dxun.
The battle for Dxun was fierce, and many of the landing vessels were destroyed before the infantry could even land on Dxun, yet by some mere miracle, Kaiven and Fih managed to land safely, along with three other knights, and two padawans, the only remnants of the total of twelve Jedi who had originally been assigned to this war. The entire army seemed to move as a whole, with the Hammer clearing a path through the middle, eventually reaching a set of strange ruins. Once there, the Knights forbade the padawans to enter with them, sensing a dark taint on the ruins. The knights took two commando units into the ruins, and the noises of fighting could be heard outside as the rest of the army fought off the remnants of the uprising outside the temple.
As the battle ended, Fih Losun exited alone, carrying a single red lightsabre as evidence. She told them all the news immediately. The other Jedi had all been killed by a dark Jedi, who was also now dead. The Dark Jedi had been influenced by a spirit in the ruins, but that with his death, the uprising had been defeated. Kaiven, however, noticed something unusual about his master.
Having arrived back at the temple, Kaiven watched his master carefully. The two were thrown immediately infront of the council to answer for their actions, and plead their case to stay in the order. The council, who could sense no darkness in them, and only remorse that they believed they had needed to fight, allowed them to reenter the Jedi Temple. Kaiven continued to watch Fih, and eventually he noticed that she seemed to become more and more disinterested in peace and knowledge, and focused more on training Kaiven’s combat skills, making his sabre combat top priority. However, she added Teras Kasi, a martial art, into the training regime, making him an efficient warrior both with a weapon, or unarmed. The most unusual thing, however, was her correspondence. She would regularly leave Kaiven, who she believed to be training, to communicate with people unknown. Kaiven followed regularly, but could never quite find out what was occurring.
Eventually, Kaiven went before the council and voiced his concerns. They too had noticed her strange behaviour, but their investigations were thusfar turning up dry. They did, however, request that Kaiven continue to pay close attention, and for him to report anything unusual that he found to them. Unfortunately, Kaiven would find nothing.
Fall of Losun, torture by the Krath.
Reports of Dark Jedi activities began arriving from Empress Teta, and Fih Losun was dispatched to investigate. Now twenty years old, Kaiven accompanied his master on the mission, under the promise that this time, he would be allowed to assist instead of standing back as he had done at Dxun. The two arrived upon a Jedi starship, not hiding who they were. They were expected, after all.
The two began investigating, and spent their time investigating the occurrences for weeks, with the assistance of a Jedi Sentinel, Uba Daman, who was already on Empress Teta when the events began to unfold. Eventually they found a lead, and the three Jedi moved quickly, storming a mansion which they soon found to be the headquarters for a resurrection of the Krath. They moved silently, through what seemed to be a deserted building. Eventually, however, they reached the grand hall, where they were quickly surrounded. The three Jedi lit their sabres, except two of their number had different intentions. Suddenly, two lightsabre blades flashed, arriving quickly at Kaiven’s neck. One was yellow, the other was purple. He had been betrayed by his master and the other Jedi. Kaiven was taken deep underground to a facility, where he was locked in a cell. It was dark, almost pure blackness, and everything around him was made of a smooth metal.
It seemed like days before the door opened again, but he wished immediately that the door had never opened. He was carried to a table in another room, strapped down securely, and left waiting. He could see scientific posters everywhere, scientific posters about the force. He suddenly realised what was about to happen. He was to become a scientific experiment into the force. Eventually, however, this thoughts were broken, as a woman in a red cloak entered the room. He could see her face. It was the face of his master. She stepped towards him, taking up some of the tools nearby, and she began her work, cutting, burning, beating. All the time, Kaiven screamed in pain, and sometimes he even felt as if he was close to dying from the pain she caused him.
It seemed like an eternity before he was greeted at the door by people wearing brown robes. He almost collapsed, his relief becoming too much for him. The next few days were a blur as he slipped in and out of his conscious state. He did, however, remember the looks of horror upon the faces of the two Jedi who had saved him, his old friends from the Dxun uprising, who had now become knights. Eventually, whilst still on the ship, Kaiven’s health improved enough for him to walk. He stood, walking to a mirror in the medical bay, where he saw himself. Once more, he didn’t make a noise, he just reached down, collecting bandages with which to hide his face.
It was on the bridge that his friends told him their story. After they had gone missing, the Jedi Council had sent another group of Jedi, this time ten strong, to search and rescue. They had been looking for months before they had finally found the Krath, and once they had arrived, the fighting was severe in their efforts to rescue him. When he asked about his master, and the other Jedi, he was told that they believed Fih Losun had been corrupted by the power of the Krath, who they’d found to be behind the uprising on Dxun, and had since that last battle infact been plagued by the dark side. At this, a single tear rolled out of his right eye, absorbing quickly into the bandages on his face.
As he stood on the bridge, looking towards the endless space infront of him, one of the Jedi gave him the hilt of Phoe Raxan, which had been lost and damaged, but eventually recovered after his death. Once back inside his quarters, he took apart the hilt, retrieving the Hurrikaine from within.
A new beginning and Knighthood
Once back at the temple, Kaiven was taken straight before the council, who asked him serious questions about his own beliefs, trying to ascertain wether he would be a risk or not. However, this meeting made them believe that instead of moving towards the dark side, as they had expected, Kaiven had moved more towards the light, and they believed that having seen what corruption would do to people had caused that. Kaiven, now without a master, was taken by Council Member Reej Marluna, a Twi’Lek consular.
Training, however, would wait, as the council decided Kaiven needed time to meditate, and come to terms with the betrayal at his former master's hands. It was during his meditation in this time, that Kaiven was able to build his second lightsabre. This time the hilt was predominantly black, with a silver hand grip. The blade was purple, as he decided the use of the Hurrikaine stone would help remind him of the dangers of the dark side.
Reej’s initial assessment of Kaiven found that his sabre usage, due to the intensity of his training from Losun, was more than satisfactory, and he moved on, teaching Kaiven valuable force techniques, focusing on bringing his non-violent side up to par with his combat skills. Eventually, however, Reej gave up, accepting that Kaiven’s prior training had made him lean towards becoming a guardian, however, his force training continued, teaching Kaiven vital skills that would hopefully aid him for his role as a Guardian.
Although Reej began going on diplomatic missions, the council decreed that Kaiven was not ready yet, so Kaiven, now twenty-one, was regularly left alone in the temple. Once again, he returned to his old ways. Regular individual training sessions, accompanied by gratuitous amounts of time spent in the archives. Very few recognised him now, with the bandages covering most of his face except for his eyes. Those who had heard the stories, however, knew exactly who he was, and the word began to spread. Eventually, Reej returned from one of his missions with a gift for Kaiven. Reej had been sent on a diplomatic mission to Eshan, and upon his return, he handed Kaiven the black and blue mask. On the inside of the mask, the words “Black, the darkness of your past, Blue, the light and power of your future” were engraved. However, Kaiven would be the only one to see them, as he removed his bandages, in full view of on-lookers, before securing the mask over his face. It fit perfectly, hiding the scars with much more comfort than the ragged bandages he had been wearing.
Eventually, the council decided it was fitting for Kaiven to accompany Reej on missions, and he began accompanying the Twi’lek on his many diplomatic missions around the galaxy. As Reej was a consular and primarily a diplomat, there was little work to be done for Kaiven, except observation. Eventually, however, a mission would come where that would change. The two Jedi travelled to a space station near Telos. There, two warring families had agreed to meet to reach a diplomatic resolution to their fight. This was, however, going to be far from diplomatic.
As the meetings drew on, people began disappearing, and naturally both sides began to blame each other, and fights began to erupt in hallways throughout the space station. Unusually, there were no bodies recovered. Eventually, however, Kaiven witnessed one of these murders, and was shocked by what he saw. A red sabre, a red cloak. He knew who the murderer belonged to, and walked forwards. He confronted the young man, about the same age that he was, who revealed that he was Uba Daman’s apprentice. The two began a ruthless duel, and Kaiven continually managed to avoid the force attacks that the young man utilised against him. As the two fought, unintentionally, Kaiven allowed his anger to take control. The fight sped up, and eventually Kaiven gained the upper hand, allowing him to sever his opponent’s arm. He raised his sabre, ready to strike, when he suddenly had a vision. Instead of his opponent’s face, he momentarily saw his own, and understood what would become of him if he ever allowed for his anger to take control again, or if he killed him. He withdrew his sabre, before slamming the end of the hilt into the man's head at severe speed, knocking him unconscious. He turned away to rush for Reej, only to find that Reej had already arrived, and had watched the endings of the duel. He turned once again, picking up his opponent's hilt, and removing his necklace, which consisted of a leather strap holding a stone, which he would later identify as being a Solari.
Once the two arrived back at the temple, Kaiven did not see Reej for days. Eventually, however, he was summoned to stand before the Jedi Council. He walked along, the corridors, his heart racing. He strongly believed that he was to be expelled for allowing his emotions to enter his duel with the young Krath. He entered the council chambers, bowing low, before standing in the middle of the room. Reej looked at him for a moment before saying, “Kaiven, everything we could possibly expect of you, you have accomplished. The trials we set, you have passed them in real life situations, and not only passed them, but prospered in them. For your Trial of Skill, you duelled a Krath assassin who had managed to gain access to a secure facility. He also allowed you to cover your Trial of Spirit, as you no doubt saw the consequences of your actions should you have slain him. The scarring on your face, that is proof of the fact that you passed the Trial of the Flesh through suffering torture at the hands of the Krath. Also, we cannot overlook your bravery in the Dxun Uprising battles, which we see fitting to cover your Trial of Courage.” Reej paused for a moment before saying, “As a council, we have agreed on a course of action. We have decided it is time for you to become a Knight. Therefore, I dub thee, Knight of the Order. May the force be with you.”
Knight of the order, taking an apprentice
Upon becoming a knight, the council gave Kaiven permission to search various places for traces of the dark side, and this would be his mission for two years. He travelled from planet to planet, putting a stop to darkness wherever he could. Eventually, he was accompanied by Albion Trex and his apprentice Charmeina Scual. The three began moving quickly, eliminating the threats to the safety of the republic sometimes without even being noticed by the locals. Eventually, however, Kaiven was recalled to the order.
On his way, he stopped at M’haeli for repairs, where he found that the inhabitants were being terrorised by a monster said to originate in the mountains. Kaiven took a group of mercenaries that had been hired into the mountains, where they eventually found the monster. Although he hadn't read much upon them, he knew this creature to be a Terentatek. He knew his force powers would be useless. The fight was bloody and long, and eventually Kaiven, aswell as two other mercenaries out of a group of six were alive. Kaiven sent one of the Mercenaries back to N'croth for assitance. When aid arrived, the group buried all the bodies of the fallen mercenaries, before burning the corpse of the Terentatek. Kaiven was treated as a hero, an honour which he did not believe he deserved, and was often in the presence of the King. Eventually, his ship was repaired, and Kaiven returned to his orders to return to Coruscant. Before leaving, the King of M'haeli handed Kaiven a Nextor stone, for use in his lightsabre, as thanks for slaying the beast. Kaiven gave his thanks and left again, eventually reaching Coruscant.
Upon arrival, Kaiven went immediately before the council, who had a simple request. They introduced him to a Mon Calamari Jedi in his last few years of his apprenticeship. His previous master had recently died at the hands of a Rancor, and they sought a Guardian, as the Mon Cal was training to become a Guardian himself. Kaiven took the Mon Cal, known as Lantus Vebbar, under his wing. He planned quickly how he would approach this, having seen Fih Luson’s failures and successes as a master. He immediately returned to Albion and Charmeina, with Lantus in tow. Once again, the group began moving quickly through the galaxy.
It was on Alderaan that Kaiven found a cave infested with the dark side. He had been told to test Lantus at any point possible, and Kaiven figured this was perfect. He warned the Mon Cal about the dangers of emotions and the dark side, even removing his mask to prove his point. Eventually, however, he said, “What is inside, it is not for my eyes, my Padawan. Enter, and truly meet yourself.” After an hour, the Mon Cal returned, and Kaiven did not need to ask what had happened in the cave. He just returned to his ship, leading a silent Lantus.
Kaiven had contacted the council, informing them immediately, however they decided not to have him bring in Lantus, instead, telling him to continue the training until they were in the Inner Rim next. It was months, but eventually the group arrived on Coruscant, where they intended to stay for a week. However, Kaiven was unaware that one of his number would not be leaving with them. It was Lantus that gave him the news. “Master Te’Baas, I’m to begin my trials!” The Mon Cal told him. Beneath his mask, Kaiven smiled, putting a hand on the Mon Cal’s shoulders, “If you are to be trialled, then this is likely where we part, my Padawan. I’ve been ordered to leave again, and you have been ordered to stay. Have this…” And he handed over a small stone, a Solari, before continuing, “A man I fought once had this in his possession, but because of his darkness he could not use it. Keep it, use it, Lantus. It will keep you pure.” With that he turned, walking away down the hallway.
Corellia, the Three Lords mission, New Padawan
The group’s aim had been changed by the Jedi Council. They had received intelligence of a group of nobles on Corellia calling themselves the Three Lords, who wanted to take over the planet and rule in a Triumvirate, and violence was beginning on a minor scale. The three Jedi travelled to Corellia, looking to start their investigations. With a list of suspects in hand, the Jedi began searching for the Three Lords. Eventually, they were able to single them out, and as they singled them out, their worst fears were recognised. One of the lords, by the name of Lord Banez, was a Dark Jedi, and a skilled one at that. The three continued to watch, but when the other two lords were assassinated, they knew they had to act fast.
The three Jedi infiltrated the manor silently, knowing that fighting one Dark Jedi was enough without the guards attacking them aswell. They moved through the manor, with Albion, the quickest, racing out infront to scout. Eventually, Albion raced away, leaving Kaiven and the twenty-one year old Charmeina following. As they came to the lounge, they found Albion locked into an intense duel with Lord Banez. The two raced forwards, but were not quick enough to help. Banez slashed downwards, sending Albion to the floor, unmoving. Kaiven and Charmeina attacked suddenly, not allowing for Banez to rest. Banez proved to be more than a match for Kaiven, even with Charmeina assisting. Eventually, however, Banez managed to swing freely, putting a large slice through Charmeina’s leg. It left Kaiven and Banez to fight alone. The two moved gracefully, both using Djem-So against each other, mirroring the other’s actions as if it was choreographed. Eventually, Banez managed to kick away Kaiven’s sabre, knocking him down in the process. Banez lifted his sabre to finish him, and suddenly a green sabre was in the way. Charmeina was battling her own pain to continue the fight. It allowed Kaiven the time to gather his hilt and rejoin the fight. Once again, however, Charmeina was cut, this time to the arm, and would take no further part. Banez, being older, began to tire, and Kaiven pounced on this, twirling and severing both of Banez’s hands, bringing him to his knees.
Kaiven and Charmeina travelled back to Coruscant, transporting the captured Lord Banez and the body of Albion back to the temple. It was at the cremation that Reej spoke to Kaiven. “You, Kaiven, are to become a Master. You have fought endlessly for us, and managed to take one apprentice for the last of his years. All we request is that you guide young Charmeina through her final years also.” Kaiven nodded, staying silent as he did when he was in pain, this time watching the body of a close friend burn, allowing him to truly become one with the force.
With the trials months away, and Charmeina having had a less than desirable amount of time in the Archives, Kaiven elected to stay at the temple. He would take her for a physical training session and a force training session for an hour a day, but other than that, the two studied hard. He knew she wanted to become a consular, and he would help her in any way possible. Hours upon hours were spent in the archives, bringing her knowledge up to scratch. Charmeina’s trials were coming ever closer, but Kaiven’s confidence in her grew every day he watched her. Eventually, however, he informed the council he thought she was ready.
The night before her trials bore bad news. Due to his age, Reej had finally passed away whilst meditating in his favourite garden. However, the trials were to continue. Kaiven stepped aside, returning to his solitary training while the trials were under way. He did not want to intrude. After all, it was not his place.
Days later, Kaiven stood in the council chambers, watching as Charmeina entered and bowed. The knighting ceremony commenced, and Kaiven simply stayed quiet, watching Charmeina’s face. He smiled beneath her mask as she was dubbed. As the ceremony finished, the Grand Master called him forwards. Kaiven stepped out, and listened. “Kaiven Te’Baas, we have decided that you have earnt the rank of Jedi Master." Kaiven bowed low and said quietly, “Many thanks, Master.” With that he moved, leaving the room to return to his quarters
Jedi Master Te'Baas
The beginning of his time as a master was once again slow for Kaiven, as his combat duties slowly decreased. Whilst he still took part in some missions, he generally advised knights for the missions, often using strategies he had learnt whilst rogue, leading the 112th battallion.
Eventually, however, the highly regarded warrior was needed for a mission. The daughter of a wealthy land owner on Onderon had been kidnapped by a group of Mandalorians, and the skills of an accomplished warrior were required to return her to safety.
Kaiven, accompanied by a hand chosen group of Jedi Knights travelled to Dxun, a place that he was already too familiar with fighting on. The group landed in a clearing, setting out to the coordinates that they had been given to find the Mandalorians. After hours of silent trecking, the group managed to find the warriors, who vastly outnumbered them. Kaiven sighed, knowing that there would be no other choice, and accepted a challenge to a duel from the leader of the clan responsible.
The two moved quickly, the violet lightsabre and the vibrosword repeatedly clashing together. The movement increased, and gradually the duel began to look like more of a dance as the two skilled swordsmen repeatedly attacked, defended and countered against each other. Eventually, however, Kaiven managed to knock away the vibrosword, bringing his lightsabre up to the Mandalorian’s face. The man stared back at him for a moment before saying, “Are you going to kill me?” Kaiven held his sabre in place, thinking for a moment of the violence he had seen in this very same clearing, before saying quietly, “No. There is no honour and strength gained from killing a disarmed opponent. I have bested you, and now all I request is the return of the girl.” With that, he withdrew his lightsabre, and the girl was brought forwards, shaken, but obviously not harmed.
The Jedi travelled to Onderon, returning the girl to her father, who stared into Kaiven’s eyes for a moment before saluting. Kaiven immediately noticed the ring, and a tattoo on the back of the man’s hand. He had been a member of the 112th. Kaiven bowed low, before saying quietly, “Peace and the force be with you, and all of your family.”
Back on the ship, Kaiven stared once again into the endless space, and sudden darkness as the ship jumped to lightspeed. He sighed, returning to his quarters, where he meditated for the remainder of the voyage.
Once back at the temple, Kaiven resumed his activities of guiding young guardians who had just finished their trials, encouraging, supporting, whatever it was they needed from him. His work, fortunately, did not go unnoticed. When he was thirty-seven, having served as a master for three years, Kaiven was summoned to the council chambers. Once inside, one of the council members spoke out, “Master Te’Baas, the council believes that you are not using your abilities to their full potential, and we see but one option.” Kaiven sighed, before saying, “If I have failed you in anyway, I am truly and deeply saddened, however, I shall do as the council sees fit.” The council member spoke out once again, “No, Master Te’Baas, you haven’t failed us, we have decided that it is time for you to have a seat on the council.” With that, he motioned to one of the chairs, and Kaiven took it without question, merely a quiet, “Thankyou, I am honoured.”
Council Member Te’Baas
Kaiven had to admit that he severely missed the action involved in being a Guardian, racing all over the galaxy to fight the evils that threatened, but he had to admit, that at nearly forty, it was definitely time for him to settle down and let the younger Jedi take care of things. He began to take an interest in the younglings, regularly assisting in training them in lightsabre combat, and encouraging them to ask questions, which he saw as the greatest ability, the ability to learn. From time to time, he would leave the Temple, doing simpler missions such as border disputes and small feuds, but generally, he stayed in the temple. He considered his fighting days to be over, but he also considered his diplomatic days to be just beginning….

(( Kaiven’s speech in blue, the unnamed youngling’s in green ))
The Archives was bustling, as was usual for this time of day. Classes were finishing, and Knights were coming in, researching for information they believed would help them on their missions. Kaiven Te’Baas, however, was there for a simple reason. Kaiven, since he had arrived, had been curious, and had spent many hours in the Archives reading. Currently, he was researching the many mysteries and beliefs of the Selktah and Manaan. It was at that time, that a youngling stopped, standing next to his chair. He looked up, smiling behind his mask before saying, ”Yes, youngling, what is it that I can help you with?” The youngling paused for a moment before saying timidly, ”Master Te’Baas, I’m looking for information on the Dxun uprising. The consulars spoke about it in class today as to why we should be careful of the dark side.” The smile disappeared from his face for a moment, but then he allowed himself to accept it was natural, healthy curiosity. ”Walk with me, youngling, and not only will I give you information about it, I’ll give you information about it from an eye witness. Me.” At the look of excitement on the youngling’s face, he stood, walking slowly through the archives.
”The Dxun Uprising is a prime example of the dangers of the Dark Side because of what happened to a woman called Fih Luson.” He told the youngling as they walked, ”Noone will ever know exactly what happened, but I do believe that Fih was corrupted by a dark presence in ruins she entered, and that she killed many other Jedi in there. The Dxun uprising, it shows that even the purest of heart, and Fih was originally, can be overcome by their emotions.” He stopped walking and looked through a book shelf, before taking out a data file and handing it to the youngling, ”All the information you seek is in there, youngling. Don’t be up here too late, or you may miss your meal.” He watched as the young boy ran out of the Archives, clutching the data file. As he did, a single tear rolled out of his eye.

Bio:
