[*Translated from Ryl]
"Olma Juno'hervoe?" «*Master Jedi?»
Chias stirred quietly as she lay curled in a small ball in the empty row of seats. Her deep sapphire eyes seeing the pretty Twi’lek stewardess looking down at her. Her skin was cherry colored with deep black splotches that was spattered along her two long head tails that stopped just at the curve of her backside.
She wore a simple grey uniform of the Republic transport division and a silver circlet with a pale azure jewel. Chias blinked a few times as she sat up, the data pad that rested on her chest sliding down to her lap as she looked to the stewardess, her native langue of Ryl rolling off her tongue as she spoke.
"Sei ako'ohan toe ersallonm dan." «My apologies for disturbing you.>> she said "kay gan ohk tlonheh ji t'iraka Boleo vil cahsinark ohk jirka si'ort. A sanolet cea ceir vo dan ohk go jirkira ka t'iraka cea dan tolsan dan ohk o'hkeliga sihna ho vahs canka. Do fic hih tilor ar dei vurur vil korjin cahsinark rarnork dan n'irs or ji a'yao tolkaha." «but we are nearing the planet Dorin and will be landing shortly. A reminder that because you are not native to the planet that you wear you’re breathing mask at all times. I’ve already spoken to your companions and they will meet you outside the arrival gate.»
Chias nodded and smiled shyly as she responded back to the Twi’lek in her own language; while no where near the linguist some of the other Historians were she had mastered Ryl quite quickly during her youngling years.
"Arni'soyacho." «Thank you.» Chias said nodding respectfully. "Vil narsu bee ji kkita xaekal aknerehse bo gei a'yao. Do babee ar buom'et vorsliynils yea kay gan nolee kue gei dovis." «And please tell the space dock manager of our arrival. I wish to double check everything before we depart on our journey.»
The stewardess nodded and departed, Chias slid the data pad back into the rolling travel case she brought on board with her and produced her breathing mask. It was shaped in the contours of her small jaw line with a dark grey strap to secure around the head.
It was colored white to match her robes with three ventilation slits where the mouth was and a small blue light to signify its operational status. She secured it to her face and then fastened it to the back of her head as it activated. She gave a sharp gasp as she the felt a cool rush of air flow down to her lungs and breathed normally as she adjusted.
Realizing she was still barefoot her reached her robe pockets and produced the two rolls of bone white leather wrappings her Master had given for the expedition. Scooting back slightly in her seat she raised her leg up rested a pale foot on the seat’s edge, wrapping it tightly the way her Master had shown her.
While she was doing this she sensed that someone was watching her, stopping and glancing across the aisle to see a young boy of 4 sitting with his mother, looking at her wide eyed, more precisely the lightsaber that hung from her belt.
Though covered by the mask, Chias smiled at him her eyes trying to express her friendly nature. It had always intrigued her the way those outside the Order responded to the Jedi, some were fascinated, others impassive, some watched them in awe and others openly mocked or ridiculed them.
“It all depends on the individual I suppose.” She thought as she secured the first wrapping on her ankle and started on the second. “To some we are heroes and to others were are meddlers and bullies. Everything is seen from a certain point of view and all I can do is try to shape it positively.”
She finished as she felt the small ship began rumble and bounce as it descended into Dorin’s atmosphere as she secured her safety harness. They landed shortly after and taxied up to the gate, Chias brought the hood of her robe over head as she rose and collected her duffel from the over head compartment and pulled her travel case to her side.
The boy stayed seated, obviously remaining to continue on to his destination, he smiled meekly and gave a wave and Chias gave a warm nod and returned it in kind exiting the ship and emerging in the space dock terminal, moving to the side and awaiting both Tesok and Jifo.

Tesok stood quietly, hands clasped in front of him, waiting for Chias to exit their transport by the doors just past the Kel Dor customs officer's desk. Typically, he would have preferred to take a private ship to their destination, but given that they had less time than usual to prepare for their departure, a Republic transport was the best he could manage to arrange for them. When Jifo was invited to join their expedition, he had booked another seat on the flight; Chias had graciously offered to take the Coach seat and allow the Knight and his new Padawan to sit together in the priority boarding/debarking section.
The short trip had given him time to acclimate to the idea of having his own Padawan. Looking down at Jifo, who stood beside him, he reflected that he had made a wise choice. The boy had devoured the information regarding their mission once Tesok had supplied him with the relevant datapads, and seemed eager to begin exploring the site. To that end, Tesok had arranged with the customs official to have a speeder waiting outside the spaceport which they would take directly to the Baran Do Temple ruins. It was about a half-days' drive from the capital city of Dor'shan, at which point Tesok anticipated having to camp outside of the Temple in the fold-out shelter slung across one of his shoulders in a travel bag before beginning their task the next morning.
He also carried another duffel which contained a few days' rations, portable hygienic equipment, assorted torches and other underground exploration gear, and until recently, the environmental masks he and Jifo had equipped upon entering Dorin's helium-rich and oxygen-deficient atmosphere. The discomfort of the breather around his nostrils and mouth made him feel sorry for the native Kel Dors, who were forced to wear similar apparatuses over their beak-lips when at large in the galaxy due to the prevalence of oxygen-breathers.
His musings were cut short by a flash of white back at the ramp of the shuttle. He brushed out gently with the force to direct Chias towards himself and Jifo, and turned to his young Padawan. "And there is our partner. Do you have everything you need? We may be camping for several days, and this one would prefer not to have to drive back and forth between the site and the city more than necessary."

The flight had not been particularly taxing on Jifo in spite of the fact that this had been his first time off Coruscant, since his early childhood. He stood along side his new Master whom dwarfed him in size. They had gotten their fair share of interesting looks on the flight to the planet, but this didn't phase Jifo in any real way. He was wearing his newly obtained padawan vestment, and his light brown robe over that. He kept his hood up on the flight over, and quickly fixed his respirator to his face as they entered atmosphere. The whole flight he felt both his own Master and Master Chias in contemplation. It was a deep feeling, and one of clarity that surrounded them both as he reached out with the force.
The doors opened slowly as they arrived at the dock, and were set to disembark. Master Chias was the first out and Master Tesok pointed her out to Jifo. He looked over to see her snowy white hair and unmistakable complexion looking back at them. Master Tesok asked him if he had gotten everything he needed for the mission. Jifo put his hand confidently on his bag and said, "I brought enough rations for several days, and longer if I am careful. I doubt I eat as much as you or Master Chias. I also have plenty of lights and extra power packs for them and my respirator. I have some climbing, just in case; and brought some hygienic supplies. Thankful that he brought everything he might need he looked over to see Master Chias had a similar bag to himself and his Master.
She approached them and and Master tesok was first to greet her, and Jifo smiled up at her showing he was ready to begin. He would not let his eagerness betray him, he had to keep his head on his shoulders and be on hit wits to prove that Master Tesok was right to take him on as a padawan learner. They moved to the speeder that his Master had arranged, and Jifo placed his things in the cargo compartment with the other's. Taking a seat in the back, as the two Masters got in the speeder. he could tell Master Tesok was eager to get this mission underway and it would be quite a drive to the site. He sat in the back, as he knew the others would likely have much to discuss about the mission on the way there.

Chias signed the last signature needed for the dock’s main supervisor. With her being the liaison between Dorin’s officials and the Jedi Order it was her responsibility for any paperwork and more importantly if any major historical relics were discovered or damaged during the course of their investigation.
While the young Echani chafed at having to deal with the local bureaucracy it was part of her duties as a Knight and Historian, she didn’t have to like it however. She was shaking the supervisors hand when she felt Tesok’s gentle mental push as she turned and searched the busy terminal to see the Barabel and his new padawan waiting for her in front of the speeder.
She made her way to them, sensing young Jifo’s anticipation at what lay ahead of them. She could have easily judged the boy of being over eager but she would consider herself quite hypocritical.
When she was his age, Master Chen would take her off world to a dig site or conference and she would always have that underlying feeling of excitement of the unknown or undiscovered. She was glad that Tesok and taken him on as his learner, she just hoped the Sentinel would not quash his sense of wonder in these ever changing times.
She bowed her head to the both of them as she brought her hood back. “Gentlemen.” She said, her voice tinted by the audio speakers within the mask “I trust you both had a restful flight, our time here will be hopefully most productive. I have gotten our clearance and we can get under way. Since I have never driven a speeder before I will leave its operation to Master Tesok…shall we?”
She led the way toward the vehicle, sensing eyes looking at them as they moved. They must have looked like an odd trio, the abnormally short Echani girl, followed by the even shorter human boy and the gargantuan Barabel bringing up the rear. “Not your typical band of Jedi.” She thought, smiling to herself “then again this is not your typical mission.”
She loaded her gear in the back, helping to strap down some of the supplies and climbing in the front passenger seat, in putting the Temples coordinates into the navigation computer as Tesok put the speeder in gear and they began to exit the dock and out to the open plains.
The first thing she noticed was the dust as the wind whipped it up in great clouds as they rolled across the terrain, making visibility some what limited as it stung her eyes. She reached and pressed a button as a canopy raised over them and windows raised upward, protecting them the harsh wind.
She punched up a weather report on her holopad. “There is a large storm to the East of us.” She said, head tilting to the side a bit “It is a strong one but if we stay on current course we should beat it just as we arrive at the Temple. The enclosed canyons should protect us from the worse of it.” She brought up an image of Temple, studying it for a time and then she looked to Tesok.
“Once we arrive and set up our base camp you and I will do a perimeter check.” She said “while the Jedi at the Dorin enclave gave no reports of any dangerous wildlife I do not want to take any chances. Once that is done we will settle in and make our plans of how we can proceed with the investigation.”
She turned her gaze to Jifo, her look was serious as she spoke. “I am sure your Master has told you that there is a strong possibility of a Dark Side nexus at this location.” She said “I encourage you to explore the Temple, but if you find this nexus before Master Tesok or I do… do not go near it. Remember it’s location and come find us immediately…do you understand?”
There was a silence for a time. She heard the engine struggle a little as it passed. She hated speaking to him this way, hoping that she was not sounding to overbearing or unkind.
Tesok had in fact asked her to join him on this mission and not the other way around and she did not want him to think she was taking it over. While it was too early to call either of them friends, she had formed a bond with her two companions and the last she wanted to see any of them hurt because they were careless. She saw the young man nod and she returned it in kind her eyes glittering warmly as she turned back to her holopad glancing briefly at Tesok to see if he would respond.

Tesok struggled slightly at the controls of the speeder. His tail had no comfortable place to rest, the steering wheel was not ideally suited for his claws, and even with the seat pushed back fully, his legs were cramped. He bore the discomfort silently, but wished for a moment that he could have asked one of his companions to drive. Perhaps he would set Jifo the task of passing a driving test when they returned to Coruscant, to make future excursions easier on him.
He made note of the incoming storm on the speeder's in-built GPS. Hopefully, they would make good enough time to take shelter in the Temple until the disturbance blew itself out. If not, they were in for a rough time - weather on Dorin was dangerous; a main factor in the prominence of the Baran Do Sages was their ability to detect the planet's violent and sudden storms and alert the population to buckle down or evacuate when things were about to get bad.
He half-listened to Chias' gentle instructions to his Padawan as he drove. A more self-conscious instructor might have chafed at the seeming imposition, but he appreciated her intentions in relieving him of the need to warn Jifo about the potential dangers they were to face. Still, to remind the boy that he was Tesok's pupil and to keep him productively occupied during their long journey, he suddenly spoke up, looking into the rearview mirror at his student.
"As long as we have the time to spare, perhaps we can fill it with some learning. This one trusts you have been instructed in the basic theory behind the seven forms of lightsaber combat. Perhaps you can explain to Master Chias and this one what forms would be best suited to fending off an attack from a group of blaster-armed foes, and then which would be more effective in single combat with another lightsaber duelist?"
Satisfied that he had set Jifo a reasonable task and turned some of their dead time into a learning experience, he settled back, shifting his confined tail so it stretched across the center console to the armrest of Chias' seat and setting the speeder on cruise control so he could find a way to position his legs more comfortably.

Jifo only stared out of the window on the right side of the speeder. His Master was piloting the craft quickly enough that they would be arriving at the site soon enough, but according to the on board communication system, they would only just beat the on coming storm there. For now all he saw was landscape after landscape of similarly colored terrain and rock formation en route to their destination. Masters Tesok and Chias spoke often to one another, mostly about the upcoming mission; and Jifo did his best to listen closely as any information he could get would only help. His attention immediately shifted directly to his Master as he addressed Jifo. He listened closely to his Master's query and thought for a moment, wanting to give a well thought out answer rather than a quick one.
"If one were to have to defend one's self from several blaster attacks at once, I believe Form 3: Soresu would be the obvious choice; however, if one wanted to take a more aggressive approach in neutralizing one's attackers, Form 5: Djem So would also be a reasonable choice."
He paused for a moment to think on the other situation his Master posed of single combat with a lightsaber.
"In the case of dueling, one on one, with a lightsaber; the "go to" form for many generations of Jedi has been Form: 2 Makashi. The form derives its strengths from the practitioners tactical training and finesse with a lightsaber; however the form generates no traditional power attacks so it will often struggle against Form 5."
He paused and considered the other forms for a moment.
"Each of the forms has their merit in single combat against another; even an experienced user of Form 1: Shii Cho can be a masterful duelist. Form 6: Niman can be quite formidable in its usage of the philosophies of all previous forms, and its incorporation of sudden and fluid force attacks. Form 4: Ataru can be quite taxing on its practitioner, but yields remarkable striking power from the unique acrobatic movements. While some forms, such as Form 2, excel in melee dueling; I believe overcoming one's opponent in single combat is just as reliant on one's personal experience and psychological strengths as it is on the form one has practiced most."
He knew very little of Juyo, the seventh form; so he didn't bother bringing it up. Younglings and even Padawan weren't permitted to study the holocrons on it. Satisfied in his answer, he awaited the response of his Master and looked again out the side window of the speeder, seeing rolling storm clouds over the horizon.

She watched Tesok struggle slightly as he operated the controls; she had forgotten his massive size and instantly lamented making him drive. Perhaps during their time at the site he could teach her the basic operation of the speeder. “It does not seem that difficult…” She thought “And it seems excessive that he must do all of the arduous tasks simply because he is larger. I shall bring it up once the camp is set up.”
She half heard Tesok and his padawan’s discussion of lightsaber styles and various combat scenarios as she went over her notes and studied the images of the Temple resting the pad on her raised left leg, her wrapped foot resting on the dashboard as she studied, toes gripping the curved edge lightly.
From what her notes told her. The Temple had built in the canyon wall face, protected by a long high wall with two large guard towers on either side. Though images of the interior were few it seemed that there were five floors with the bottom the largest in width and the final being the smallest. But with the structure being built into the canyon itself there was no telling just large or far into the canyon each floor was.
“We could find the nexus in mere minutes or might wander through corridors and halls for days.” She pondered, biting her lower lip thoughtfully. “And once we find the nexus what do we—“
Her thought was cut off as the speeder lurched forward, her safety harness keeping her from sliding and smashing her knee on the dash. She felt the small vehicle begin to shudder a bit and heard the hum of the engine begin fade as she glanced on the view seeing the green power cells of the speeder turning to red and blinking steadily as she looked to Tesok.
“I am not an expert in mechanics Master Baranar but I assume that is not normal?”

Tesok had time only to send an approving brush across his Padawan's mind for his well thought-out answer to the question, for as soon as he opened his mouth to praise him, the steering wheel jerked in his hands. With a dull thud, his skull was sent into the transparisteel windshield as the speeder lurched to a sudden halt. While the impact was not nearly as damaging as if he had been a human, he noticed after a moment of seeing stars that he had left a spiderweb of cracks where his forehead had come into contact with the canopy, and a small trickle of blood seemed to be running down his face. He sissed and groggily resolved next time to hire a luxury-sized speeder so that he might strap himself in properly.
Feeling only confusion instead of pain from his companions, he shook himself out of his slight daze and looked around. The speeder's dash lights were dimming erratically, and an alarm was shrilling, all of which he attributed to the malfunction that had stopped their speeder. Suddenly, a trickle of danger sense rippled through the Force, and he immediately perked up, looking for the threat out of the side viewports.
All was clear on the ground. There were no enemies visible, no fauna charging at their vehicle, no blaster bolts or slugs flying at them. What, then, was the source of his growing discomfort? He panted slightly, blinking the blood out of his eyes, and then finally thought to check the radar, which was hardly readable through bursts of static. With a jolt of shock, he saw that the storm, which had just moments ago been a safe distance away, seemed to have doubled in size, and was nearing the blip that represented their current location. At the same time, he noticed the clouds on Chias' side of the vehicle were moving rapidly, covering the terrain in darkness.
As the danger sense finally worked its way up his spine to start buzzing around his head, he realized what was about to happen, and hissed the words "OUT! EVACUATE!" at the same time as he sent a tremendous burst of force energy into the doors on the driver's side. He trusted Chias to be equally prepared for the sudden storm as he was, but Jifo needed his protection. As he launched himself out of the gaping hole that had once been the left side of the speeder, he reached back and tugged the boy towards him, likely pulling most of his safety harness as well, until he felt the thud of his padawan against his chest.
They landed, Tesok cushioning Jifo's fall, some 10 meters away as the first lightning strike hit their speeder. And another. And another. The metal frame acted as a lightning rod, and the repeated bursts served to block any visibility to Chias' side of the vehicle, although he did not sense the sudden emptiness that meant she had been struck or killed by the lightning. He reached out in the Force to find her presence, sending an impression of caution that he hoped she would recognize as an order to stay low to the ground. If they stood before the edge of the storm passed, they would quickly find themselves more than a little crispy. Instead, they needed to wait until just after the lightning receded, and dash for any kind of available cover while the wind transitioned from heavy to hurricane-force.

Jifo enjoyed the validation from his Master for only a brief moment, a small smile creasing his face, before he felt the harness of his safety restraint squeeze tightly around him. The sudden stop of the speeder forced him forward in his seat, and what happened next was a bit too fast and chaotic for him to keep proper track of. The next thing he knew he was out on the sandy landscape with Tesok behind him keeping his head low.
"Master what's going..." his words were quickly stifled by his Master, as he felt him reach through the force finding Master Chias. He shut his eyes as well. He felt his Master's concern, but not the subtle nuances of his direction and his intent; though he did get get some impression. Staying low, he used his hands to shield his eyes as he looked for Master Chias. The flashes of lightning were blinding so he shut his eyes again before turning his head over to the side.
Looking over to a nearby rock face, he noticed a small grouping of caves. While he didn't not know how deep the caves went or how much protection they would offer, he informed his Master all the same, and tried his best to keep Master Chias in the loop telepathically. The rocky crag was simply an overhand that extended into the hillside maybe twenty feet or so, but it would certainly be enough to keep them out of the hellish winds and untargetable by the lightning.
Before long the blasts of electrical energy subsided and the wind started to pick up in a severe way.

“Evacuate?” she said slowly, feeling Tesok's fear flow into her mind. “What are you?--“
Her words were cut off as the air was knocked out of her lungs by Tesok’s Force wave as it ripped the safety harness and door off their hinges, her small body flying in the whipping wind as she landed on the hard packed earth and felt a burst of pain and her teeth rattle in her mouth as she rolled 20 feet away from the speeder. She lay on her back as warm blood flowed from the long gash on her forehead, running down to her eyes as she reached and wiped it and the dirt away as her white sleeve came back with a brownish red smear as she reached down and found at the strap of the duffel as she had on her back when they departed. She then reached instinctively down to her belt, her Master’s words in her mind. “Your lightsaber is your identity Chias, it is your compass in the ever changing & chaotic world. If you loose it…you are lost.” She breathed a little easier as her fingers brushed over the stone hilt, wiping more dirt and blood away from her vision as she looked toward the speeder. She started to rise and then quickly crouched back down as she saw multiple lighting bolts hit the metal of the speeder. She hoped the dock workers back at the spaceport knew of the erratic weather patterns and made sure their vehicles could withstand the harsh elements…if they lost their supplies, shelter or equipment they would not last long out in the open terrain. Her eyes searched for Tesok and Jifo, the dust clouds and lightning bursts making it impossible to see. She focused her mind and reached through the Force as she sensed them both…Tesok determined to keep his padawan alive and Jifo scared but trying his best to help his Master. They were both alive and were moving away…but in which direction she did not know. She turned and began to move in a slow but steady crouch toward a rock formation. Half an hour passed until she arrived, her robes whipping wildly in the wind as she rose fully and she took her saber hilt and gripped it firmly. Her eyes scanned the immediate area for any threats…just because she could not survive this storm did not mean Dorin’s predators could not either. Seeing nothing, she then searched for a cave large enough for herself and her companions…time passed until she eventually found one with a medium sized entrance on the far left side of the formation. She entered and ignited her lightsaber as the deep cavern was illuminated in a deep glowing blue as her Echani instincts took over, prepared for anything. “Master Tesok?” she called out, her voice a loud whisper “Jifo…?” She heard no response and then investigated the cavern fully and found nothing. She sheathed her lightsaber and took off her duffel and rummaged through it until she found a small electrical lamp which she lit as she moved just inside the cave entrance. She then knelled down on her knees, setting her hilt in her lap and rested her dirty and cut up hands on it as she closed her eyes and breathed deeply, quieting her mind and blocking out the deafening noise of the tempest as she focused and sent out a message through the Force. “Master Tesok…Jifo…I have arrived at the rock formation West of the speeder. I am injured but it is nothing life threatening. I am in a small cave near the East end of the formation. I shall wait here until you arrive.”
Over and over she sent this simple message as she meditated…while no Master of the Force she knew she could at least send her thoughts out far enough between here and the speeder. If they were close…they would sense her and come. Hopefully...

Jifo could barely hear after the uproarious cacophony of the lightning striking the speeder; and all he felt after being separated from his master was the wind whipping against him Shielding his eyes, he began to try and reach out to the others, but to little effect. His concentration not honed to the degree of the two knights and he could hardly focus in the throws of the storm. Making his way around the speeder he decided to try for the rock formation he had noticed earlier. Trudging through the spiraling sands towards the the tremendous stone structure he sent out a sort of ping in the Force, the little blip being all he could muster considering the circumstances. He had hoped it would help his Master find him, or be a small beacon by which his Master could follow.
After approximately forty-five minutes, Jifo felt as though he had undergone hours worth of harsh journey; but at last he had made it to the rock. pressing himself up against the wall he stood up right and fought to keep his composure. He needed to think now, he needed to focus and arrive at a solution. Bring his hands up over his eyes he looked along the stone face and saw a small hole, which seemed just big enough for him to fit through. Squeezing through the entrance in true 'leap before you look' fashion, Jifo fell about six feet onto the stone floor below bruising his right shoulder. Sitting up right and grasping at the pain, he grit his teeth and tried not to make a sound. If he could use this place as a shelter, so could nearly any other creature on the planet.
Looking around him at the inky darkness, he rummaged in his bag for a moment for a small light. Shining at against what he thought was the back wall only revealed more cave. Considering his options he moved slowly and very quietly though the rocks, which seemed to be a system of tunnels rather than scattered caves. Jifo search for about an hour hoping to find Master Tesok, or Master Chias before he found a larger tunnel where he saw light from the outside. It was here that he felt a much stronger presence in the Force. Excited that he may have found one of his companions Jifo walked faster now.
"Maste......" Jifo tried as his words were cut short, when he fell clumsily through a hole in the floor of the cave; barely landing on his feet in a much larger room. Looking around quickly he reached down and picked up his damaged flickering light. Touching against the wall of the new room, he noted it was sheer climb straight up. Letting out a long sigh, Jifo sat on the floor of the dark room as the light of his lamp faded. He knelt down and began to meditate to clear his head. He heard water dripping down into this lower level and pooling somewhere; though he could not pinpoint the location due to the echo in the room. His breathing slowed and became nearly inaudible; he reached out through the Force, which he felt all around him even here. It was then that he clearly felt Master Chias. She was close.

Her eyes opened as she felt a small but significant pulse in the Force which it was close. She looked to a small tunnel, leaving he her pack taking the lamp and her lightsaber, her small body making the crawl not difficult as the pulse got stronger and stronger as she emerged out the other end, her sharp eyes scanning the large cavern and saw seeing the young human kneeling in meditation.
“Jifo!” she called, moving toward with her saber hit grasp firmly as she knelt down in front of him resting a pale hand on his shoulder.
“By the Force it is good to see you.” She said smiling “Are your hurt?” she briefly looked him for signs of major injury seeing none then she looked about the cavern for Tesok, but seeing no one her eyes turned back to him.
“And where is your Master?” she said “When I sensed you last you were with him.”
The boy was quiet not looking at her directly, the obviously processing what had happened little less than an hour ago and with the Barabel nowhere to be seen he must have been confused as well. Still, she was impressed that he was able to find his way here and also send a Force distress beacon; she had learned that particular skill only a year before she was knighted.
“Do not worry my friend.” She said, giving an encouraging smile. “If anyone can survive this storm, it is your Master. No doubt he simply got lost in the confusion and is close by. We must try and contact the Jedi enclave and get them to send a rescue party.”
She reached in her robe pocket and produced her comm link switching it on and dialing in the enclave frequency, holding it up to her ear as she heard a muddled static filled hiss.
“Jedi Enclave.” She said, her voice clear “This is Knight Chias Nero… do you copy?”
No response came…just static.
“Our speeder has been disabled and we have lost contact with one of our companions…requesting immediately extraction… do you copy?”
Again nothing. Just static.
Unease was clearly on her face as she switched the comm. nnit off and slid it back in her robe and walked back over to Jifo and sat down next to him
“Communications must be down because of the storm.” She said “Our best course of action is to stay here and wait it out. We will try again in a few hours. Hopefully Tesok will arrive by then.”

As Jifo sat alone in the dry darkness of the cave, he began to wonder what exactly he had gotten himself into. It had never dawned on him he would be tested this way as a new padawan. He knew there would be challenges but he'd only been out of the temple a week and everything seemed almost surreal. Though counting his blessings did him some good. He had shelter and his supplies, along with his torch and his training saber. In theory he should be able to make do. Keeping his head focused was exactly what he needed as his focused meditation brought him good fortune.
Master Chias' voice was the most welcome sound he could have thought of. "Master Chias! Over here!" He lit his light back up to show where he was. As she found her way over to him he responded to her. "I'm....I'm fine, and it's great to see you too. I have no idea where Master Tesok is, or how we got separated. I have been in here hoping to find one of you, or hoping to help one of you find your way to me."
He grew a little disheartened as there was no response as Master Chias tried again and again on her comm link. Determined not to show his disappointment, he sat quietly trying to maintain himself in the face of the growing uncertainty.
Hours past and the howling wind outside the cave network finally seemed to subside. Jifo looked to the Jedi Knight and began gathering his things thinking they would be heading out soon. Jifo had in his mind that his Master may have already been at the temple ruins and he hoped that as they neared the site, he would sense his Master's presence. Energetically popping up and moving swiftly to the mouth of the cave, he looked out to see the dunes of the desert had completely shifted and the wreckage of their speeder was nowhere in site.
"Master Chias will we head for the temple now?

She watched the young boy prepare to leave, the winds outside obviously dying down and the storm finally passing, she hefted on her pack back on her back and readjusted her breathing mask as she walked over and joined him looking out over the sandy vista… the wreckage of speeder buried under the deep red sands as she gave a deep sigh.
“I suppose we do not have any other choice, we could go back to the area where the speeder is and try todig it out but I fear another storm would come down upon us." She pulled out the hollow pad and brought up the route to the temple, her white eyebrows perking up a bit.
“According too our current position the Temple is no more than a mile away from us.” She said “if we follow the speeder path through the canyon we should arrive there before sundown. At least then we have a base camp of sorts. Then we can return to the speeder to see if we can salvage some supplies.”
It was a sound plan, if Tesok were here he would of probably had similar strategy, but secretly Chias was quite worried, she was not a Sentinel or survivalist expert, how long could they even hope to survive out here without proper equipment?
“Stop that this instant Chias Nero.” She thought scolding herself. “You have a padawan to protect and he does not need to sense your doubt.”
She produced a clean bandage out of her pack, covering the deep cut on her forehead as she wrapped around her head securely and then brought up her hood, glancing back at Jifo.
“Until we find your Master I am responsible for you.” She said “Stay behind me and at a steady pace and we be there in no time.”
The trek out of the cave was slow at first but once out on the flatland they moved quickly, arriving at the canyons just as one of the two suns was just about to set. She unclasped her saber hilt as they began to move down the speeder path between the canyons, her eyes ever scanning for predators or attackers.
An hour passed as the canyon walls began to part and the Baran Do Sage Temple came into view, it massive out outer walls over twenty feet high with small windows every soften, they passed the two guard towers, small look posts on the top as they enter the main court yard.
The main entrance massive, th entire cliff face having massive stone columns decorated with intrigue carvings as the two main doors were slightly pushed open, making Chias unease go up even higher.
On either side of the doors were two large statutes of the sages, hoods over their heads as her hands were hidden in their cloaks as they looked down on the two imposingly.
She took a moment to take in the sight, she was now standing in a spot most likely none had stood in hundreds of years. She smiled unable to hide her excitement despite the situation.
“Incredible.” She said to herself and looked to Jifo “Stay here. I will check the courtyard for any predators.”
She moved through the large space, checking some of the smaller but finding them empty. She then moved to the main entrance, standing front of the large doors as a feeling came over her.
It wasn’t painful or chilling. It didn’t make her feel afraid or angry it just felt…off. It was as if something was telling her to turn back and never return…something dark.
“It could be the Nexus.” She thought “But there is no way to tell until we---“
Her thoughts were then cut off but great ripple in the Force, her mind sensing someone of great strength as she spun and unsheathed her blade as it hummed softly, getting immediately into her defensive stance as she pointed her lightsaber at one of the columns.
“Come out slowly.” She said firmly. “Now.”

(OOC: Sorry for the slow response, moving has been taking more time/effort than I anticipated.)
Perhaps it was coincidence or perhaps it was the will of the Force that put Vreem in the region of Dorin. His proximity to the planet was the reason why the Council had contacted him. An expedition group sent to the planet to investigate an abandoned temple had gone silent. Whilst storms upon the surface were not unheard of, establishing contact with the lost Jedi was still of vital importance. Whilst he had his own matters to attend to, ones which had come along with the title of Jedi Lord, the opportunity to help was one which Vreem would gladly accept.
The Council had informed him of the mission and the Jedi who had ventured onto the planet. If it was possible the mission still needed to be carried out. The Kel Dor were extremely cooperative to Vreem’s request and preparing supplies and a speeder took very little time. When the storm cleared he set out towards the temple with food, water and breath masks in case they were needed.
He let his senses extend as he ventured through the valley, hoping that he might detect the three Jedi holed up in a cave together, he was not so fortunate. Hopefully it was the disturbance of the dark side nexus which clouded his senses, and not that there was nobody left to detect. After all he had seen over the course of the war, the last thing he needed was to discover the bodies of dead Jedi.
As he approached the courtyard he decided to make the last stretch of his journey on foot, the speeder would draw too much attention, if there was a threat here. The nexus made it so difficult to sense his surroundings with any degree of certainty. It reminded him of Korriban, the lingering presence of the Dark Side was consuming, intoxicating, it felt as though it made the air more difficult to walk through.
He managed to sense the presence of others in the courtyard; he used cover as he approached it, hoping that the Force would feed him more information. As he hid and focused his mind, he felt another Force sensitive, and they felt him. A voice called out and he rounded the corner. He instantly knew their faces from the reports the Council had given him, Chias Nero and Jifo Riou. In truth he already knew the boy, he had taught him at the Temple, his safety restored some comfort to Vreem’s mind.
“Steady your blade young Jedi, I am here to help. Forgive me for remaining hidden from you, this nexus fights to cloud my senses, I did not know if you were friend or foe. I hope you both are well,” he smiled warmly at Jifo, “and I’m glad to see you have found yourself a master, Jifo. The Council was worried when they lost contact with you, I brought food and water and breathing masks in case you needed them. My speeder is only a short walk from here.”
Vreem looked around, but could not spot the third Jedi.
“I was told that you had come to this temple as a group of three. Where is Jedi Knight Tesok Baranar? Is he safe?”

As they set out Jifo tried to stay focused on the task at hand was determined to be an asset to Master Chias on this mission. After all, the eventuality of his career as a Jedi is to prove that he is beyond capable of being just that. Stepping with Master Chias out of the cavern, he looked around trying to get his barrings based off of where he thought the wreckage of their speeder might have been. The look became a lingering stare, but thankfully Master Chias seemed to know where to head off to; Jifo followed her lead in kind.
As their journey progressed, his thoughts turned again to his Master. He had been separated from Master Tesok in the commotion of the storm and since then, and had searched out to his very limit of his senses for his wayward Master. He hoped that it was the Nexus that had restricted his perception of things and that the worst had not occurred. He turned to the Jedi code to calm himself. Repeating it to himself a few times silently, while a simple tactic, proved effective.
Travelling to the ruins on foot was a bit arduous through the sands, but took surprisingly less time than expected; as soon the summits of the large columns peeked up from over the dunes. After another few minutes the approached the structures, Jifo doing so especially cautiously and the pressure of the Dark Side began to weigh on him. The young boy was quite sensitive to the force for his young age, and coupled with his lack of experience, this new sensation seemed to turn the very air into a noxious fog even from behind his mask.
He focused his best, to steel his mind against this new challenge; and tried harder still to conceal his efforts from Master Chias. The last thing he wanted was to seem like additional weight, increasing the difficulty of the mission for her. Fixing his mind on his breathing, and listening carefully to Master Chias; he waited patiently in place as she began to scout the surrounding area. Standing their in the archway, he should have noticed the remarkable architecture and the amazing scope of the ruins; however, he only felt a tightening in his stomach and a sudden pulse in the force as he heard the ignition strike of Master Chias' lightsaber. Sharpening his gaze across the courtyard her noticed a figure step out from behind the column and introduce himself.
"Master Vreem!" Jifo said excitedly upon recognizing the Jedi standing before them. He was someone Jifo knew very well and was quite excited and certainly surprised to see.
Hearing the question regarding Master Tesok's whereabouts, Jifo excitement paled quite a bit. "We were separated after he saved me during a storm the came on us very suddenly. After that I lost track of him, and haven't been able to sense him." It must have been obvious especially to Master Vreem, who knew him well, that Jifo was feeling at fault for the incident and was forcing a great deal of regret on himself.
Finally he stepped out from under the archway and approached the Masters in the courtyard. Walking slowly and breathing slowly making sure to keep his focus sharp; Jifo regarded the doors, from which the radiating presence seem to originate, very cautiously

Chias immediately sheathed her blade clipping it back into place as she bowed her head respectfully as she felt the gash in her forehead throb lightly. “My apologies Master Vreem.” She said “The last few hours have tense and as you said the Nexus cloud our thoughts even still sealed within the Temple.”
All out of all the High Council Members Vreem Took was by far the most well known an extremely pro active Epicanthix, he was a high ranking member of the Blades of the Order, a group of Jedi Knights of all classes assisting the Republic military with the war effort against the Sith Empire and Mandalorians.
He had been quite a few battles even though the conflict had just started, it made Chias uneasy thinking of Jedi in battle armor instead their customary and leading troops as oppose to teaching younglings.
The Blades were the physical embodiment of everything a Jedi shouldn’t be, it was something she would happily debate him on…once she had bathed and gotten some food in her stomach.
She watched Jifo as he explained their situation and the whereabouts of Tesok “Sentinel Bannar was selected specifically for his survival in environments such as Dorin.” She said “Part of me thinks we should go and search for him…” She felt that uncomfortable ripple go through her as she glanced back at the door.
“But we also came here to investigate this Temple.” She said “and he would be the first to say so. But I leave that choice to you.” She glanced over Vreem’s shoulder to the small buildings she had searched “I do know if you brought tents…” she said “but I am sure those structures will serve nicely as our base camp…”

Tesok Baranar was not afraid of the dark. He had been born in darkness, he considered it an old friend. His species had long since developed the capacity to see in the pitch black caves and tunnels of their homeworld. Still, when he awoke and found himself surrounded by silence, with no light to speak of, he was scared. Where was Chias? Where was Jifo?
Where was he?
He remembered a crash, and the throbbing pain in his skull attested to its collision with the airspeeder's windshield. Then there was noise and light and wind, and the one desperate thought - they had to get to the caves. Disoriented by the rapid onset of the storm, and likely concussed, he must have ended up separating himself from the group. As he stood, he examined the slope of the tunnel he was in and followed it a few dozen meters upward, to where a pile of boulders blocked what had presumably been the entrance to this particular cave. He supposed a lightning strike or must have dislodged part of the rock face above, sending it crashing down not long after he had entered the cave.
Or perhaps quite awhile after. With a start, he realized he had no idea how long he had been unconscious. He reached out with his thoughts in all directions, but the technique was difficult for him, distracted by pain and still slightly lightheaded, and he could not feel any familiar presences in the immediate vicinity. Fear gripped him, but he quickly stamped down on it. Fear was useless at best, at worst it could be debilitating. His imagination might find any number of explanations for his partner and his Padawan not to be nearby, but none of them was going to help; he had to find them himself.
His first objective was to find his way out of the cave. Obviously, the mouth was blocked, but he saw the tunnel extend quite a ways back into the surface of the planet, and resolved that somewhere there was a place where this cave connected with another of the ones they had spotted from outside. Cautiously (and still somewhat woozily), he dropped to all fours, and began stalking downwards, into the darkness.

It was worrying that Tesok was missing. But so long as his body had not been found, there was hope. Even as the dark presence of the nexus loomed over them, Vreem could still sense the padawan’s sadness. He stepped towards the boy and rested a hand upon his shoulder. “Do not worry Jifo. You heard Nero, your Master is a survivor, have faith that he will return to you. The bond between Master and Padawan is not so easily severed.”
Vreem removed his hand and debated Chias’s words. “I fear that any search we might carry out would not be the best course of action. The local government was happy enough to provide me with supplies; I will contact them and request they send out a search party. Hopefully their resources and knowledge of the area will allow Tesok to be found quickly.”
The temple was an intimidating presence. Vreem had seen many grand structures, but the silence that swarmed around the spires and screamed with dark energy put him on edge. A voice in his head cautioned him against entering, that they should simply abandon this place. He couldn’t allow that voice any control; he calmed his breathing and his mind.
“You should continue with your mission, I will assist. But first it would be wise for the two of you to get some rest. There are some tents amongst the supplies I was given. Let us set up camp and prepare for an excursion into this forsaken place.”
Vreem was growing weary of the Dark Side; it seemed that no matter where it turned now it was around him. He questioned if he would ever be free of it.
(OOC: Not sure if/when you guys want to skip to them sitting around talking, but I’d have thought before my next post would be wise. Would also probably be a good idea to have Tesok find them at that point.)

Jifo was incredibly pleased to hear the word 'rest' come out of Master Vreem's mouth. He'd been through quite enough in his own opinion, and this was his first outing as a padawan. Though he did feel as though he had grown more confident having made it through all of this in one piece...so far at least. He heeded Master Vreem's advice in earnest and hurried over to the speeder that brought Master Vreem to them. He picked up what supplies he could and brought them over nearer the entrance to the ruins. Setting up his tent and collecting his gear for their eventual descent into the temple, he paused every so often to breathe clearly and recollect his thoughts. The dark pressure he felt was immense, and it seemed to permeate his mind from all directions. It brought him incredible unease, but he did well to keep cool; hardly showing the concern he felt for a presence he was not sure the others were aware of. 'Of course they know.' He thought to himself, they were masters after all and were likely already in possession of their full faculties and readying themselves to deal with whatever threat was at this darkness' core.
Just over two hours had past and Jifo awoke in his tent, apparently having fallen asleep immediately upon crawling into the small canvas shelter. Heading back out, he immediately looked around to spot Masters Vreem and Chias.
