Mal smiled when her brother came over and hugged her, or at least he assumed it was her brother, they looked somewhat alike. He didn't need to be a telepath to know that something was going on, she seemed a little caught off guard and concerned. Then she asked about someone, or a few someone's. Now he was a little worried, the brother didn't look upset, but Seria was surprised and apparently nervous judging from the vice grip she had on his hand. There was only one thing Mal could think of that could do this to a trained soldier and psychologist. It was worse than a charging Mandalorian, or an angry Sith coming at you with lightsaber in one hand and lightning coming out of the other hand. Mal would rather face a hundred politicians and pirates than face what he was about to: parents.
Mal stood there as Seria greeted her parents and then introduced him to them, he spread his Force senses out trying to help use them to gauge her parents reactions. Smiling after he was introduced and learned their names, which he wasn't going to use at all for the moment, and held his hand out to her father. "Sir, ma'am, it's a pleasure to meet you." He unconsciously made sure his handshake was firm, an old soldier's habit. He'd had two different CO's tell him that you could measure the worth of a man by his handshake. That was something he had taken to heart and made sure that he always gave a good handshake. Of course Mal had never had to meet parents like this before, he'd always known parents because he grew up with his girlfriends back on Corulag.
Mal smiled at her mother and gave her a slight bow, he couldn't help but smile, "Senator, I was at the senate earlier today, they're redecorating the sixth floor, and fixing turbolifts four, seven, and nine." He stated politely, before motioning at Seria's brother. "I overheard that you had a meeting tomorrow, and I work as a senator's bodyguard now." He decided explaining ahead of time would be better than waiting for someone to ask, besides it might make her visit a bit easier to have forewarning about the renovations. Besides, he didn't like the fact that he found out about it by walking through the door and seeing it all. It had all been planned before Ina hired him, but still he wished he had been informed.

"Nice to meet you too young man. Also thank you for the advanced warning." Serias mother spoke first. She knew that Osyris was going to give the man the third degree about what he did, how they met and further more. The Captain wasn't going to divulge that her father too was a Psychologist and a far better one than her. "Ria, why haven't you told us that you were seeing someone?" Her dad asked as his gaze fall from Seria then to Mal and then back to Seria. Seria didn't know how to answer that. Technically there weren't a couple, not as far as she knew. This was just their first date and she did hope that there were more to come.
Just as she was about to answer her brother Wol walked into the restaurant. Great, just need the twins, Ren and Tryvon and this nightmare will be complete. Sbe thought as the man that really could be considered her twin walked up.Wol wasn't in his Senator robes but was in nice Aldareenian dress cloths. The Junior Senator was an inch or two taller than Seria and had the same blond hair blue eyes as his sister. Hugging her brother she looked at Mal and spoke.
"Mal this is my brother Senator Wol Knesos. Wol this is Mal Denton. So Wol, is Senator Friden finally retiring and you're finally getting her spot."
Wol shook Mals and then looked at his baby sister. "No such luck Ria, she's going to be in there until she dies I think. Mom, dad, Sorry I'm late there was an emergency session this morning and it took all day." Wol said sitting down at their parents table.
"Looks like you have things to discuss and Triton has our table ready. I have e things to talk aboutwwith you and daddy, mom. I get off a 17:00 ttomorrow we can have dinner at my place."
Her parents agreed and Wol just smiled and nodded. Seria took Mals hand and they walked over to the table. Kt was set up in a quiet corner of the restaurant. Very few people around and the waitress, a TTwi'lek, brought some water and bread to them along with some menus. Sitting down Serja spoke again this time trying to get bBer nerves to calm down.
"I am sorry about that, daddy doesn't know when to leave work at work. Just be glad my brother Tryvon wasn't here, and I'm going to leave it at that."
She finished, taking a sip of her water and picking up her menu.

Mal smiled at her parents, he was fully expecting the third degree from her parents. Especially since he was a bodyguard for a senator, and he was clearly former military, he was in a dangerous profession and he was going on a date with their daughter. He'd be surprised if they didn't make them sit down and grill him all evening, so naturally he was mentally preparing himself. He'd learned how to resist interrogation since his last psyche eval, he had a feeling that it would be skills that would come in handy. At the time he hadn't known that he would end up the bodyguard of a senator. The Force guiding him he assumed now, at the time he had assumed it had been nothing more than a sudden urge to be a better soldier. For all he knew, that could have been what it was.
Mal did the polite thing and pushed Seria into her seat before taking his own seat and accepting the menu. "Seria, you're speaking to a man who has already memorized all the exits in the place and determined each and every armed person I can find in this place." He wasn't joking and that was the sad part, he had actually memorized the exits and spotted several people who were armed. He was one of them, but that was neither here nor there at this point. It was simply a force of habit from working for Ina, he did the same thing everywhere he went with her. Most of the time it was easy enough because he had already went over the blueprints for the place. He was very good at his job.
Mal smiled and looked at his menu, there wasn't much he recognized on it. Not that he was surprised though, he tended to eat in diners over restaurants usually. Still, he guaranteed he'd be able to find something to eat here. "But still, thanks for getting us away from your family. I wasn't looking forward to using the resisting interrogation skills I learned a few years ago against your father." He meant it lightheartedly, he was only kidding after all, but he would have used them if he felt the need. It really wasn't has hard as everyone made it seem, you just had to put several different things into perspective first. Foremost among them, if you knew something that someone wanted to know, keep it to yourself by any means necessary.

"Don't you think I haven't profiled nearly everyone in here other than my family and you. We do something for so long, it becomes second nature to us. Like that couple near he door, he's fidgety because he's going to propose"
Just as Seria said it he got down on one knee and popped the question. Few seconds later she noddedand accepted. The Captain clapped, she stopped the waitress and had her tell the couple that the dinner was on her. The Twi'lek relied the message and the man nodded in acceptance. Looking over the menu again after the events were done. She couldn't get over the fact that her parents where here from Alderaan. But it got the awkwardness of her taking Mal to Alderaan to meet them if this turned out to he something. Scanning the menu, she wasn't in the mood for anything too big.
"No problem, my father is a typical father of a daughter. Though he tends to throw his professional aspects into the parenting that tends to scare people off. My mother is the negotiator of the two, with the political background she isn't easily to get anything past her. Now you only met two of my six brothers. There was a seventh, but he past away in a training exercises before I was born."
Seria said, she probably said more than she should've. But she wanted to let Mal know what he was getting himself into. He would not only have to gain the approval of her parents, but that of her six brothers. Who were highly protective of their baby sister. The waitress came back again to take their orders. Seria went first.
"Yes, I'll have a salad with light dressing. And a glass of your best wine. Thank you."

Mal glanced at the man who proposed raising his eyebrow at the pair for a second before smiling and turning back to Seria. "Well that was quite nice of you." He said with approval, before shrugging at her next comment. "Hey, that's better than my father. He was a merchant, I get rousing speeches about price shifts between Corulag and Coruscant. Oh, and the rousing stories about him finding his wares in antique shops. I fell asleep at the dinner table more than once." That had always caused his parents to laugh, though it did annoy his father a bit, even as a kid he'd always been more about action than words. It was only recently that he started slowing down a bit, he'd seen too much action to waste his time these days.
Looking over at the waitress he smiled as he placed his order, "Yes, I'd like a mug of Corellian Whiskey and the Alderaan stew please." The waitress smiled at them and went off with their orders, returning moments later with their drinks. Taking a sip of his drink he set the mug back on the table lightly, leaning back and looking across the table at her. Mal considered what to say next, she'd be inside his head once, and he figured he could probably read her fairly well. At least her reactions after something had happened. Still he wasn't exactly sure what to say, maybe crack a stupid joke? He didn't exactly excel at dinner conversation most of the time, he'd spent too many dinners asleep at the table from his father's stories. He'd had an easier time with his interview with Ina, he hadn't needed to direct a conversation it had been all questions and answers.
Finally something popped into his mind, the difference in their apartments. It wasn't much, but Mal went with it."So tell me, that apartment of yours, can you afford that on a Captain's salary? If so, I think I need to go back to active duty and get a few promotions." Though he doubted that he would ever go back into active duty, he enjoyed his job with Ina too much. Besides, as long as he didn't miss a single meeting while he was in the reserves, he could still retire in ten years and be set. That didn't mean he wasn't going to miss being on the battlefield, he would miss it very much. But he could feel that it wasn't where he belonged right now.

She sat there listening to Mal talk about his father and the stories he told about his merchant days. Seria crossed her left knee over her right. Chuckling slightly when he did. She ccould understand about getting hbored about listening to parents work. She sometimes had ti hear about her mothers talks with the other Senators and Representatives. She could go on for hours but Seria did her best to stay engaged so she wouldn't seem rude. Now look her she is a Senior Army Intelligence and Psychological Officer, who she evaluates positions to high ranking military. So she has to try harder than she did when she was younger.
After they ordered it when silent, not an awkward silence but a silence that two people hat enjoyed each others company had. She was having a lot of fun despite her parents being only feet away from them. But luckily they didn't have a view of their table. Pondering what she wanted to talk about next. Just as she was going to speak he made an inquiry about her apartment. Her salary was a little higher than a normal captains because of the job she does. Also she really doesn't pay her rent her parents help out with that and plus her mother has influence in the Republic. He had asked the question before and she kind of skipped over it. This time she was going to answer it.
"Well, you see who my mother is. And I have a high profile job with the Republic Army, so that's why I can afford the apartment."
She finished just as their drinks arrived. She sipped her wine and smiled across the table at her date. She needed to come clean with Mal. She needed to tell him that this was a date, but she had a feeling he already knew that. He was a very smart man, and was the first man to make her feel this way in a while.
"OK, confession time...." She took a bit larger sip this time. "I am calling this a date.
She finished hoping that he wasn't too put off by calling it a date. Though she doubted it, she didn't need to be a Jedi or Psychologist to know that he was into her.
