The dreadnought, designed to be the flagship of the Imperial fleet, is breathtakingly massive and is, as much as it is a warship, a symbol of the unified Sith Empire’s might. The class is wedge shaped, with a bridge that looms over its heart. Two shield generators sit atop the bridge, with four massive, heavily armored generators protruding from its hull to supply powerful shielding that can provide resilient cover under even the heaviest fire thanks to a complex and redundant shielding system. Internally, the ship boasts dozens of decks with living space for its crew of nearly 100,000 personnel. Beyond that, it can carry a ground invasion force of up to roughly 20,000 troops, with supporting vehicles to match. These forces, as well as its heavy complement of starfighters and bombers are launched from the massive twin hangar bays on the ship’s underbelly. The Regent-class’ hull bristles with weaponry. Dozens of heavy turbolaser banks are arrayed across its dorsal surface, supported by even more medium turbolasers and ion cannon batteries, as well as point-defense laser pods and concussion missile and proton torpedo tubes. The ship’s ventral surface is likewise heavily defended. Function The Regent-class is rarely seen, and strikes terror into the hearts of its enemies when it is. The dreadnought class is by all means a terror on the battlefield by its own right, but is even more effective as a tool of psychological warfare. No world wants to see its massive silhouette in the skies above, and no fleet would hope to see it anchoring the heart of an Imperial assault. The Regent features an impressive array of sensor equipment, allowing it to peer deep into space with clarity. Similarly, it often serves as a mobile command base for the Empire, and as such can coordinate communications between different armies, even those that are in seperate systems. While it boats enough firepower to defend itself in almost any situation, the Regent rarely travels alone, when it travels at all. It’s often stationed deep in Imperial territory, and almost always with an escort fleet to support it. While it carries an impressive number of point-defense batteries, it relies more on smaller frigates and destroyers, and its strike craft compliment, to screen against enemy fighters and bombers. It was built for heavy slugging and planetary bombardment, not dealing with the small fry. It's also not unheard of for the Empress to take command of the ship, or for members of the Sith Order to be present on it. As such it carries amentities, such as meditation chambers and training roomms, to support members of the Sith. It also has one of the Empire's best bars, simply called Deck 37, on Deck 37. |
