YM-11B Ravenger Thermal Lance Name • YM-11B Ravenger Classification • Weapon Origin • Zant Tactical Solutions Specifications Size • How big is this thing? Give rough estimates in metric measurements (meters) - Height: 34mm - Width: 11mm - Length: 2.6m Appearance • The Ravenger is a long polearm style melee weapon with a large hand grip and power cells mounted directly below its long blade. The long semi-translucent blade extends nearly a full mete away from the grip and when activated appears to be covered in a thin blue tinged field of crackling energy. The shaft of this weapon consists of a core module made of plasteel wrapped in a titanium weave and covered with a thin layer of durasteel. Further up the shaft a knuckle protecting hand guard also houses the weapons power cell in an armored container. The base of the blade and the long tubular housing alongside it generates the thermal and electrical energy that is fed into the blade. The blade is what generates the energy field and does so through the interaction of multiple paper-thin layers of molecularly bonded zirconian, diamond, metallic hydrogen, Sapphire that are laced with hair-thin gold alloy circuitry and strengthed by the inclusion of bands of carbon mesh and titanium alloy. Function This weapon was the product of experimentation with new superconductive materials when it was discovered that certain cystalizine structures would when exposed to electrical pulses would stably superheat and generate small energy fields. Eventually, a mixture was developed to allow for a single unified feild to be generated. With this field, the weapon proved to have superior cutting power to commercially available vibroblades and plasma cutters. Unfortunately, the weapon is not without drawbacks the energy needs for the blade is prodigious and unlike a lightsaber or plasma cutter, it can not effectively recycle a large percentage of its power requirement. This along with limitations in thermal cooling require the field be used sparingly or risk overheating of the generation systems in the blade housing. Still, even with this drawback, it is an effective weapon and the strong razor-sharp blade means the feild is only necessary when faced with heavy armor |
