Arashi-class Battleship Arashi-class Battleship Name • Arashi-class Battleship Classification • Ship Origin • Legion Specifications Size • How big is this thing? Give rough estimates in metric measurements (meters) - Height: 135m - Width: 350m - Length: 1340m Appearance • The Arashi-class Battleship is a different take on designs normally produced by Legion. Rather than being dagger-shaped with a blunt nose, the Arashi has a very wide bow and forward middle, tapering down to a narrow engine assembly. The primary engine assembly is a grouping of three, making it relatively slow. Out on two pylons are secondary engines, one on each pylon. These have their own secondary hyperdrives. The purpose of these are to provide additional bursts of thrusts, either forward for a quick boost, or, more commonly, more on one pod than the other, allowing the Arashi-class to ‘drift’, giving it a surprising ability to keep on target with her heavy forward weaponry. On the equator, near the outer edges, are 8 super heavy ‘lance type’ turbolasers, four on each side. They are nicknamed Lances because they fire a longer beam that seems to lance from the ship to the target. These are supplemented by smaller turbolasers and concussion missile launchers. ‘Ridges’ are along the ship, providing additional support as well as weapon emplacements. The Bridge is located towards the bow, slightly recessed inside. The bridge, as well as external windows has armor plates that extend over them for additional protection. Function The Arashi-class Battleship serves as a long range heavy combat ship, but it can also fulfill the role of a large cruise ship, with its ‘easy-on-the-eyes’ curves and appearance. During peacetime activities, it is common for service members to bring family members on. For wartime, it is the Arashi-class duty to stay to the edge of the conflict and target large opposing ships, ripping them to shreds with her heavy weaponry. She works best in tandem with the Tarantula-class Battlecruiser, getting quick firing solutions from the flanking ship before baring her teeth. The lance turbolasers require a time of 15 seconds between firings to vent heat and recharge, and is common for them to fire in a wave pattern, allowing minimal time between firings. The Arashi-class has lighter armor, but holds decent shielding and has an expansive forward firing arc, and nearly as good of broadside if enemy ships get close to flanking her. The weakest part is the rear arc and engine pod pylons, and almost certainly required assistance to deal with anything larger than a frigate or destroyer. The Arashi-class are typically command ships within Legion. Compliment Standard crew complement of 3600 personnel in wartime/battles. Crew compliment of 3000 during peacetime activity, offset by droids. Does not include family members 10 “lance” superheavy turbolasers 20 heavy turbolasers. 40 medium turbolasers 60 point defense medium laser cannons. 8 heavy concussion missile launchers (50 warheards each) 8 concussion missile launchers (Starfighter sized 200 warheads each) 24 starfighters, 2 shuttle size crafts. ((Note- The Arashi-class sold as cruise liners have significantly less weaponry than their combat orented counterparts)) |
