Besh-77 Space Superiority Starfighter concept here Name • Besh-77 Space Superiority Starfighter Classification • Starfighter Origin • Kuat Drive Yards Specifications Size • - Height: 3.7 Meters - Width: 12.5 Meters - Length: 11.2 Meters Appearance • The Besh-77 Space Superiority Starfighter is a wide and long starfighter, with a nose that looks like it was inspired from an Aurek starfighter, and a pair of slanted wings at the end of two pylons near the cockpit. The cockpit is situated far back on the hull, overlooking most of the starfighter. The ship’s weaponry sits on these pylons, with two medium laser cannons on each wing on the outside, and a proton torpedo chute on the side of each wing. The wings of the Besh-77 are designed to fold against the hull for docking with a hyperspace ring, which is circular in nature and houses two engines on each side. Space may be made for an astromech socket directly behind the cockpit. Though the colors of each fighter are as unique as the pilot, when the ship arrives fresh from the factory, it is painted red and white, with the symbol of the Jedi Order painted on the top wing of each side. Function The Besh-77 Space Superiority Starfighter was created specifically for the pilots of the Jedi Order, after the Order became fully involved in the War after the Battle of Taris. In the hands of the Jedi, these fighters were used not only as interceptors, but also as a multi-role strike fighter. Since the War’s end, a few surplus Besh-77s have found their way into the most elite squadrons of the Republic Navy, however, the fighter still remains a symbol of the Jedi Order, as much as a lightsaber. In order to pack the Besh-77 with as much shields, weaponry, communications, sensors, and other equipment one might desire in a starfighter, a hyperdrive was removed from the equation. Instead, the Besh-77 relies on hyperdrive rings to be transported across the Galaxy. The wings of the Besh-77 pull forward and retract against the ship’s long nose, folding against the hull once docking occurs. During the war, many Besh-77s were loaded onto carriers and launched that way, to avoid the added stress and clutter of the rings. From a mechanic’s standpoint, the Besh-77 easily modifiable, but not easily fixed. Though it has a generous armament of four medium laser cannons and two proton torpedo chutes to begin with, these weapons can be easily changed out for any other armaments the pilot desires, or the mission calls for. Space can also be made for an astromech, if one so desires. However, as the Besh-77 was at one point a starfighter strictly for the Jedi Order, parts are not common, and when they can be found, they are not cheap. The Temple on Coruscant as a small surplus of replacements, but even their supplies are limited. |
