Republic Battlegroup Destroys Imperial Cruiser, Boarded And Arrested
BREAKING NEWS:
Earlier today, the Imperial cruiser Severance and several smaller vessels were destroyed by the Republic Battle Group Vespado, headed by the famous battleship Anenke.
The friendly-fire incident occurred during the final volleys of the liberation of Nar Shaddaa, as the Imperial ships were apparently preparing to pursue fleeing Archeri ships when it came under fire.
Conflicting reports suggest that the Republic battle group fired on the Severance's battlegroup intentionally, with certain accounts even suggesting they contacted Republic commanders during their attack.
The Republic has officially condemned the attack, and the majority of the battle group's officers have been taken into military custody. Chancellor Vrieska's office declined to comment, stating instead that it will issue a statement at a later time.
The Empire has expressed outrage at the attack, with early rumblings of demands that the accused officers be extradited to stand trial before Imperial courts. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Empress and the Chancellor communicated about the incident.
This all comes as JMOC forces continue to pursue the remaining Archeri forces back into Hutt space. In light of the attacks, generals on both halves of the JMOC council have agreed to separate the navies, meaning Republic and Imperial ships are no longer sharing information or being paired together for assignments.
The already tricky questions posed by post-Archeri Hutt space are now bound to be much more heated. In particular, the upcoming dissolution of JMOC, formerly laid out in terms by the treaty that saw its creation, is now completely up in the air.
