NPC Form Vonar Adrius Kenten | Adoptable: no Human | Rank 3 Senator, Dantooine | Galactic Republic Senator Vonar Kenten is the long-serving senior representative of Dantooine in the Galactic Senate. Kenten's roots are humble, as far as senators go; he was the firstborn son to one of Dantooine's wealthiest farming families. Farming never suited him, as even from a young age, Vonar's ambitions outgrew Dantooine's humble fields and its people's largely-quiet lifestyles. He ventured to the Core as a young adult to further his education, and there, he launched his political career. It started as a junior general staffer in the Senate building and, after a few years, he joined the staff of his Aima Meday predecessor. There, he worked and learned the ins and outs of statesmanship. Though his ambitions may have outgrown the world, Dantooine never strayed far from his heart, and his tutelage served only to reinforce his love of his homeworld - especially as Dantooine's delegation and those of other Outer Rim worlds often quarreled with the Core worlds for proper funding and respect. When Aima retired after a long career, Vonar followed her in a landslide election among Dantooine's people, more than a decade before the Sith Empire launched its assault on the Galactic Republic. From the earliest days, Vonar gained a reputation as a firebrand, dogged in the causes he believed were just, and a vicious, if respectful, foe for those who opposed him. He fought always for Dantooine, and soon became an invaluable ally for those other Outer Rim worlds which found themselves fighting the same battles. Though he maintained a generally non-interventionist stance, that changed when the war began. Dantooine, home to a Jedi enclave and near the frontiers of Sith space, was one of the first worlds to fall, and its people subjugated to a brutal occupation that was likely worsened by active rebellion against Imperial rule. As the war against the Sith dragged on, Vonar grew increasingly hawkish toward the Empire, to the point that his voice was one of the most critical of the Peace of Prazhi when the Sith and Republic ended their long war. Now a representative of a world the Republic no longer controls, Vonar continues to raise his voice for a more combative stance against the Sith Empire. He is not alone. Senators from the worlds with which he built those early political alliances - many of which are also in Sith hands - have increasingly flocked to his side, and Vonar is now the de-facto leader of a subfaction in the Senate that presses for renewed war with the Republic. With the latest crisis straining the peace to the breaking point, their voices are only growing stronger. |
