Tarka Concept • Tarka is a lush if mundane world, pockmarked and grid covered with the lines of farming plots covering any and all viable land with crops. A few developed cities dot the surface, with only the Capitol harboring a space port for the import and export of goods. The populace are largely backwards by Galactic standards, with most living as their ancestors did thousands of years ago due to lack of contact with the outside galaxy at large. Only the Capitol, Estan, bears a resemblance to other cities across the stars, as it is the home of the Lord Governor, and the center of planetary politics. Location • O-5, Tark System. Capitol of Estan on the equator. 1. FEATURE 1 Estan-Planetary Capitol: This city is sprawling yet surprisingly well kept by galactic standards, due primarily to the focus of the Governor. This being the meeting place for any diplomatic visitors to the planet, is made to be a shining example of Tarka and its leadership. Every square inch is kept spotless by the roving municipal forces at pain of punishment. Those who dwell within its limits are of the higher echelons of Tarkan society and reflect that in their personas. Most are simply happy to be granted citizenship in the gleaming Capitol, and greet newcomers warmly, while those who toil in the city's underbelly to keep it alive and functioning work in silence. The place is a strange juxtaposition of warmth and welcome, and eerie silence as Royal Janissary units, menial workers, and servants move like automatons through the grid-like streets of Estan. 2. FEATURE 2 Farm-holdings: The vast majority of the surface of the planet is covered in these land-lease farming plots. While technically owned by various lesser lords, the day to day dwellers on these plots are little more than servants who work the land by force of hand. Technology more advanced than a rudimentary blaster or cooking apparatus is alien to these places, as those who work these lands have to construct their own home and equipment themselves, and mostly rely on disparate traders willing to deal in perishables to maintain their homes.
