Vezon Concept • The fantastic and adoptive homeworld of the Darysi Location • N-10, Inner Rim, Galactic Republic The millenia-ago adopted homeworld of the Darysi, Vezon is a relatively large world with breathtaking natural features, opulent noble estates, and gleaming, tightly manicured cities. It is a place of savage beasts and epic heroes, and a cornerstone of the Inner Rim economy. The main industries are arms manufacturing, artisanal exports, and private military services, with a heavy emphasis on finely crafted, lightweight weapons and armor. It is ruled under the Darysi Freeholds, a monarchy led by sovereign High King Aemar II Valerys, who governs with near absolute power, though many government functions are delegated to the Curia, an assembly of the leading freeholder families. It is home to the White Flame Force tradition, which idolizes Force-sensitives as "Flametouched." The population of eleven billion is distributed between several dense cities and large tracts of farmland, set aside for agriculture and animal husbandry, the latter perhaps more so to cater to the protein-heavy dietary needs of the Darysi. Roughly 70% of the population is Darysi, the remainder being mostly various alien species normally employed as servants or laborers and off-worlders, be they merchants, dignitaries, or wayward adventurers. Notably, Vezon has been closed to Jedi for over a millenia, and they are only allowed on the world by Royal invitation. 1. Geography Vezon is a moderately large, terrestrial world located in the Inner Rim, near Cato Neimodia. The surface is roughly 60% water and 40% land. It is dominated by the megacontinent Allyros, which hosts a wide variety of biomes. Much of the inhabitable land there is along the coasts and in the river valleys, where the climate ranges from alpine and mountainous in the interior to warm, humid, and subtropical near the coasts. Most of the continent is covered by the Wailing Dunes, a massive desert stretching horizontally across the massive landmass. The island of Belaemon is the only other large landmass. It is lightly populated, boasting idyllic tropical rainforests and low, ancient mountains in the interior and a thin band of mild, dry (ie Mediterranean) climes along the coast. Like their original home of Lentyn, Vezon is rife with volcanic activity, especially along the rim of the Dunes on the Allyrian continent. Occasional but devastating eruptions and seismic activity have not dissuaded the Darysi from constructing shrines and settlements near them, volcanoes being an important spiritual and cultural symbol to them. 2. Ecology With its highly diverse and oftentimes mercurial seasonal cycles, Vezon hosts a wide variety of animal and plant life uniquely adapted to its unforgiving conditions. The jungles of Belaemon are crawling with all manner of reptillian carnivores that would like nothing more than to make an unscrupulous or slow-footed Darys his next meal. The dunes and seas, deserts in their own ways, also host some of the most miraculous and dangerous wildlife in the Inner Rim, and Darysi have developed a strong tradition of outdoor sporting, including glowshark spearfishing and grand, dramatized hunts for the dangerous felinoid predator of the Dunes, the Randyrocc. Much of the flora and fauna is invasive, being introduced by either the first wave of colonists, or by the Darysi in an attempt to revive the mostly extinct wildlife of their lost homeworld. Chief among these species is the Enylidon, massive heat-resistant quadraped reptiles traditionally used as mounts or beasts of burden on Lentyn. They are usually seen in domesticated setting, though healthy feral populations exist on both Allyros and Belaemon. In modern times, they are used in traditional ceremonies such as tournaments, or in competitive games such as races and combat. The Enylidon is symbolically important to the Darysi, and features prominently on their family crests and religious imagery. 3. Points of Interest Cities- New Cordalis- The garden city of Vezon, New Cordalis was the first planned settlement on the planet, and has been carefully manicured into the idyllic seat of royal power and the central nexus of the bureaucratic machine. It is host to lavish palaces, including the Royal residence, Haemyr Keep, secretive and elaborate gardens, and a host of off-world embassies. It is a small city, with about a million residents, and is only open to Freeholders and their service staff, or those invited by the Crown. Important sites within the city are the aforementioned Haemyr Keep, the White Beacon (an important religious site and seat of the Circle), and the Tower of Love (the personal residence of the Crown Prince). Scyndra- The largest city and principle metropolis, Scyndra is a sprawling, modern locale that serves as the commercial and cultural capital of the planet. Most major businesses, including the gargantuan royal monopolies, are based here, and there is a significant industrial district located on its outskirts. The Royal Dockyards of Scyndra dominate the skyline, serving as both the central nexus of off-world civillian transportation and as the principle dockyard for the Freehold Armada. It is also home to the Ring, an entertainment megaplex that hosts gladiatorial games and festivals of all kinds. It is frequented by up and coming warriors from around the Republic. The city is densely populated, with more than thirty million residents. Tyndilion Station- The largest orbital facility in the system, Tyndilion is a massive commercial hub, receiving and exporting goods to and from the planet and hosting a range of heavier industries too burdensome under the planet's gravity. It is home to millions of residents, most short-term visitors or foreign employees on assignment, and is thus a functioning city, only perched high above the teal planet below. Natural Wonders- Caestryan Sea - The brilliant teal waters of the Caestryan Sea, nestled in the arms of Belaemon, are calm and teaming with colorful marine life and vibrant, crystalline coral-like formations that extend for miles beneath the surface and along Belaemon's rocky, warm shores. It is a prime on-planet tourist destination, and most prominent families have some form of summer accomadations in, under, or around its surface. It is a favorite location to host important foreign dignitaries. Mount Nylaesa - Named after the first Queen, Nylaesa the Brave, the gargantuan volcano sits several hundred miles into the remote Dunes region. Secretive and strange religious rites are performed at an enclave located within the volcano, but the exterior has been made into a protected natural reserve where tourists are a common sight. Sovereigns are crowned atop the mount, in lavish ceremonies above the raging heat below. The Umberwood- A massive rainforest that dominates the island of Belaemon, it hosts diverse avian and reptilian life and is a favorite location of xenobiologists across the Galaxy. It is also host to frequent hunting expeditions, some enterprising locals making a fortune by running professional tours and guided hunts to tourists and nobles alike.
