Sebastian Terrik, Admiral within the Republic Navy and second son to the overall owners of Corellian Engineering Corporation never thought he would be standing on the bridge of his own Battleship, the Terminus overlooking the massive ring of Kuat Drive Yards. He still preferred the shipbuilding facilities of his home over this. Still, he had to admit that it was quite the sight to behold, and he hated to admit, but the ring was still better than the organization of shipyards between orbit and planetside docks. It was no wonder that Kuat was quickly becoming a large rival of CEC.
Seb let out a sigh and dropped discipline, sticking a hand in his pants pocket a tube. He took out part of a cigar from within and stuck it in his mouth. He didn't light it or anything but was just chewing on it. Old habits died hard, and this was a good way for him to think upon his future.
First off, he needed to get through today, which he was thinking wouldn't be so bad. General Horst Stellar was due to meet him on Sebastian's flagship, or current flagship, of the 7th Fleet, newly spun up in this time of war, and he felt especially needed after the fiasco that was the Battle of Nar Shaddaa. Seb was still a little disappointed that he missed it, but getting this fleet put together was a little more important.
"Admiral, General Stellar's shuttle will soon be arriving. You should head down to the shuttle bay bay and meet him there."
Sebastian looked over at the young Lieutenant who spoke up. She was cute, with dark hair and eyes. Seb smiled down at the young woman and kissed her right on the forehead, making her push him away as she laughed.
"Dad, that isn't cool! Go meet the general before you get us both in trouble."
"Yes, I probably should, shouldn't I, Senna? C'mon. Your fighter is down there too right? Don't you have training to do?"
Not until after the General leaves. Get going Admiral!"
Seb let out a little chuckle as he took his daughters arm and linked it wit his, both of them making small conversation on the way to the hanger. Seb and Senna weren't the only ones waiting, as the ships Captain, Captain Akar, a Duros man that Seb knew since he himself was a Captain, was waiting. Together the three of them were in conversation, mostly Seb and Akar, until the General's shuttle glided into the bay, where the trio waited for Horst to walk down the ramp. It was a fairly simple thing, very low key inspection of Sebastian and the makeup of the 7th fleet.

”You’re going to Drearia.” The holographically-imaged woman across from Horst blinked, at-attention posture shifting as he sorted his desk.
”Uh, aye sir.” Biting her tongue, her expression was pregnant with questions and confusion. Waving a hand, Horst eyed her, indicating that she should air them. ”I thought we were due back into the Core following the trial, sir.”
”That was based on the advice we received from the State department. Galactic tensions being what they are, though, I’m taking orders directly from the Chancellor on this one.” Tossing a few holopads to the side, Horst sighed lightly. So many scrubbed plans, so many emergency meetings with commanders and chiefs of staff. The post-trial plan hadn’t been optimistic, by any measure, but rather a return to the previous level of military preparedness.
Now it had to be doubled. So much for the mediation of the Galactic Court.
”Is it that serious?”
”Wish it weren’t.” Standing, Horst glanced at the chronometer on his wrist. ”Tell your crews that we’ll work out leave for them next month. In the meantime, I told logistics to look the other way if your requests get a little more luxurious.”
”That’ll have to work. Thank you General.” With a salute, the Admiral ended the call, and Horst pocketed the small holocomm. He was out the door faster than his aides could notice, the few of them jogging to catch up as he marched down the hallway and adjusted his collar at once.
With each window they passed, the military might of the Republic basked under the Kuati sun. The shipyards hadn’t been quiet since the war, but today they operated with a particular zeal.
The kind of zeal that came from caution turning into certainty.
Horst’s shuttle landed with a slight jolt in the Terminus’s hangar, the landing ramp extending with a hiss. Like clockwork, Horst was marching down it with a steady pace, the metal under his feet deepening tone as ramp gave way to floor. He moved with purpose, his eyes wandering as he beelined straight for the trio at the mouth of the hangar.
Stopping in front of them, he nodded. ”Admiral Terrik. Fleet status?”

"Akar, my friend, you simply cant be doing that... kind of betting. Its... Yea... No. Bad."
The current conversation that was taking place was Akar explaining why he was stuck on a week of Gamma Shift here on the ship, and though Sebastian found it amusing, it wasn't good for the Captain to take bets like that.
"Yea, I know. Good thing this was about 3 weeks ago when we were just getting started with all this mess."
Akar laughed loudly, knowing that he was free from any repercussions. Little did he know that Seb was already planning out just how to... discipline this Captain and his friend. He had a evil smile, one that Senna knew all too well and had a sad smile on her face.
At that time, the Generals shuttle flew into the docking bay, and the trio all stood at attention, waiting patiently for the shuttle to settle and open its ramp, the General stopping in front of them, centered on him. As the general arrived, at the appropriate time, all three snapped off a expert, crisp salute.
"General Stellar, welcome to the Terminus. The Fleet is within 96% deployment rate, exceptions being a handful of these Kuati built destroyers and corvettes that have an intermittent sensor glitch.
The glitch had been intermittent since the fleet spun up, hence why it was parked here in the Kuat system while the correct ships get new sensor package installed.
"Installation estimated to be complete in 40 to 48 hours, ahead of projections previously sent up the chain."

”Good. Get it fixed.” Short, sweet, and to the point. Horst didn’t mean for it to come across quite as curt as it did, but in truth, he needed every fleet the Republic had at the moment. Even at the most relaxed points of the last few years, he’d tried to keep the military on its toes. Now?
All hands on deck.
Inspecting the hangar, Horst was quiet for a minute. Everything was brand new, from the fighters fresh off the assembly line to the uniforms of the enlisted men and women around them. The floors shined with fresh rivets, the maintenance equipment being rolled out by technicians and pilots undented and unworn.
All looked as it should. The faster it could all be broken in properly, the better.
”Assemble your staff on the bridge, I’ll hand over your orders there.” Turning back to Sebastian, Horst nodded again. ”In the meantime, gimmie the tour.”

Sebastian resisted the urge to raise an eyebrow at the General. Get it fixed? The majority of the fleet was here while the ships were getting a system overhaul, and all the Kuat-made ships were getting a check over of all their software. He and his people could only do so much while the Kuati did their thing. He did not to Horst, however.
"Of course, General."
He could feel his daughter's eyes on the back of his head, and the smirk that he knew she was hiding, as he himself was hiding one. Seb waited for Horst to look around the hanger, wondering what he was thinking. Sebastian looked as well, admiring his people working and going about their business despite General Horst Stellar was here. Maybe they figured a high end Admiral and this particular General would be meeting together at some point, and probably they would see more of him.
Sebastian's eyes looked back at Horst when the other man spoke. Seb in turn turned to his Bith Captain.
"Captain Akar, please ready the senior staff in the ready room. We will be on the bridge shortly."
"Yes Sir."[/color]
Akar saluted, turned smartly on his heel, and left the hanger. Seb then turned to Senna.
"Lieutenant Terrek, get a maintenance crew up here for a post-flight check and refueling for the General's shuttle and please have Captain Kelbor send me a flight training plan for your squadron."
"Yes Sir!"
Senna turned as well, but rather than leaving, she walked off towards a larger doorway in the side of the large hanger, not jogging or running but still moving with a purpose. Sebastian then looked back to the General.
"Sir, if you would please come this way, the reators and engines are this way, if you want the full tour of this Corellian beast."
One could tell that Seb was proud of nearly everything that came out of CEC, and the smile on his face as he held a hand towards the doorway out of the hanger said more than words needed to.
"Top of the line newest battleship out of CEC, not to be outshined by any other ship of similar class. She may be a new ship but her crew is hand-picked by me and have all history with each other under me. There is nothing better."

Following Seb to the hangar’s edge, Horst’s eyes continued to wander as they moved. Crews always behaved a little bit differently on new ships; nobody wanted to be the first person to turn something shiny and pristine into something broken and worn. And yet, everyone had to, at some point. A technician could admire the total silence of a freshly-installed blast door only until it began to move too slowly. Sailors could only admire freshly polished floors until a drill was sounded and they were scuffing them with military boots in a dash.
Everything new was made old. Especially in the military.
Seb’s gesture brought Horst’s eyes back to him. The admiral’s smile and praise earned a raised brow from his superior. ”Easy with the favoritism there, Admiral. If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were trying to influence the General Chief of Staff over choosing your family's business for government contracts.” Nodding toward the engine rooms, Horst began to walk, not willing to stand and stare at the hangar any longer. He wanted to see roughly each section before handing over the orders quickly; there was much to do, and this inspection was neither the first nor last thing on the general’s agenda.
Much as he wish it were, galactic politics seemed to have other things in mind.
”Crew makes a ship anyway. Tell me about your selection process.” Still walking, Horst looked to Seb once more. ”How’re you gonna’ drill ‘em?”

"Favoritism? Maybe a little. But i still must say that Kuat puts together some good ships. Damn good ships."
Coming up on a porthole, Seb took a second to look out at a sleek, light grey dagger shaped destroyer float by, the Kuati ship looking fast and powerful despite its look. Truthfully with quite a few very strong shipyards in the Republic, many of these ships were amazing... Now imagining if both Kuat and Corellia worked together for a powerful ship... The thought almost made his mouth water.
Taking another moment, Seb took out an old fashion pad of paper and a pen and wrote something down. It was irrelevant to todays walkthrough but for both CEC and KDY, it could be beneficial. When Horst moved off, Seb fallowed, tucking his pad back away into a pocket.
"Im going to use standard Republic drills to begin. This fleet is split into several flotillas to maximize each strength and minimize weaknesses each ship provides as best as possible. Plenty of force on force training battles as well as simulators and augmented reality in off time.
As for selection, I hand picked each and every captain. Many senior sailors who had seen combat and know their way around, and a few greener captains who have shown promise in mine and a few others eyes. From there I let each captain have picks of their crew, since its is them who the captain oversees. Minimize my involvement and setting my trust in them. It makes for effective ship, and therefore and effective flotilla and a great fleet."
