Hello SWUvians,
At long last, we are kicking off our next main site event, Destroyers of Worlds.
Tension between the Galactic Republic and the Sovereign Sith Empire has skyrocketed. Though the Archeri Crisis forced the rival superpowers to cooperate, the temporary truce ended as soon as the Archeri were defeated when a Republic battlegroup opened fire on their supposed allies.
Attempts to manage the following crisis through diplomacy have failed. The Empire demanded arbitration at the neutral world of Prazhi, where the Galactic Court gave the accused officers to the Republic to handle internally. Then the Senate, led by a voting bloc of Outer Rim representatives whose worlds are under Sith occupation, voted to preemptively pardon the officers from any and all attempts at prosecution.
Meanwhile, the unification of the Mandalorian clans imploded after the presumed death of Mandalore the Regulator. A new Mandalore, the Vigilant, has risen to follow in his footsteps, but he leads a fractured people; not all vode are willing to heed his words.
Such fractures have proved devastating to the Galaxy at large. A group of Mandalorians hellbent on ensuring the larger powers remain unable to interfere in Mandalorian space began raiding Sith shipping routes. In the process of doing this, they successfully captured a small number of Sith military ships, which they used to launch a raid on the Republic-held and Jedi research world of Obroa Skai.
What began with a measured, proportional response quickly spiraled out of control as the Imperial forces responded to distress signals coming from their own ships and the Republic committed more and more assets to the fight.
Now a shooting war has erupted, with the Republic attacking the Sith rallying point at the nearby occupied world of Thustra.
This event will unfold through a number of official event threads, focusing on different aspects of this. As always, threads that are related to the main event are welcome along the periphery. Assigned staff members will move the threads along to ensure we maintain a consistent pace to keep the event going.
The staff push members in each thread will try to keep things going, which includes keeping contact with everyone involved. We want people to post within 7 days of the most recent staff push post. If it takes longer than that, the staff will push the thread along, skipping if needed. If you get skipped, it does not mean you're out of the thread! You're still more than welcome, and highly encouraged, to keep posting, so just jump back in!
And if you know you might not be able to make a post within a week due to IRL obligations or anything else that pops up, just let the folks in your thread know so everyone can work out how to keep going while keeping everything set so you can come back in whenever you're able.
To more generally build off of that, communication with your threadmates is very important. That's true for any thread, but especially for this event. These are supposed to be fun, above anything else, so have fun with it all and talk about things with each other as thing move along, especially if there are questions about something.
