Melkio strolled through the Republic's embassy as if he was supposed to be there, like he had always belonged there. It seemed to be the most natural thing in the world. And in a since he did belong here, or rather he would, once he took care of one simple little loose end.
He smiled charmingly, as the pretty receptionist admitted him into the Senator's office. There were no questions asked. Considering that she was secretly on his payroll, he would've hoped she would be smart enough to ask any. As soon as the doors closed, she would head down to the security office to "distract" the officers on duty.
His smile turned genuine for a brief moment. It was amazing how cheaply people came around. Offer a bribe here and there, and doors willingly opened up to you. Melkio had learned this listen well from Prefero. The man had taught him how rampant corruption really ran through the so-called Republic. Unfortunately for the woman, she would still have to die when he was finished. He couldn't afford to leave any loose ends.
He entered the office of the Senator and smiled, "Hello, Senator."
The Senator looked up in surprise at Melkio, he obviously would not have expected his political rival to ever show up in his office, much less at a time like this. It was definitely not something the Senator was use too in his years of serving in office.
“Greetings, Mister Draxon,” stated the Senator, surprise evident in his voice, “For what do I have the pleasure?”
“Oh I just came by to chat about something that seems to have come up in the election lately,” Melkio smiled graciously and reaching into his belt removed a square box from the back of his belt underneath his robe and placed it gently before the Senator.
The Senator opened it and his eyes went wide at the contents held within, “What is the meaning of this Melkio?”
Melkio’s smile grew, the case contained nothing more than a small holdout blaster and a vial of poison, and a few holodiscs, “It seems a few of our beloved Senator’s more, shall we say ghastly, deeds have come to light while under further scrutiny. Apparently he’s been taking bribes, from an almost treasonous source.”
The Senator’s face had turned a new shade of pale, “What do you mean?”
Melkio continued smiling as he took a seat in the chair in front of the Senator’s desk, “Apparently, the funds coming in from your campaign seem to be traceable to a company found on, ah what was it? Oh that’s right, Muunilist.”
Reaching out with the Force Melkio began prodding the Senator’s fear centers, allowing a growing feeling of dread fill the Senator’s belly, “Last time I was aware, Muunilist was still a part of the remnants of the Sith Empire, and while we have yet to have heard anything from them in oh, such a long time, taking money from such a source could only be seen as sedition.”
The Senator grabbed the blaster in shaky hands and pointed it at Melkio’s face, “W-well, if I just kill you, it’ll all go away. You can reveal anything if you're dead.”
It seemed as if Melkio’s face was going to split wide with mirth, “You can kill me if you wish, but then a whole documentary on your life’s events well be projected all over the holonet, with all the juicy details unedited. You can check those holodiscs if you’d like, they will confirm everything I just told you.”
The Dark Jedi stood and headed towards the door, “Do make a decision rather soon, otherwise I’d look forward to this election.”
Letting out a light chuckle he walked out the door, nodding to the blonde receptionist who was just now taking her seat, her clothes now wrinkled and her hair slightly unkempt. She had done her job well. And Melkio his, and as he made his way to the turbolift, he rather enjoyed the loud whine of a blaster going off and the resounding thud.
Chuckling as he turbolift doors closed, it seemed that the Senator had made a decision after all. The irony being had the Senator just checked the discs he would've found nothing more than some recordings of an old holodrama that Melkio had been recording. Manipulating these fools was just oh, so easy.
