Bio:
Birth
14 standard years ago, on the planet Brentaal IV, a simple Gossam merchant family threw a so called ‘egg viewing party’. The eggs where on display for everyone to see. As usual the party was thrown late in the eggs' incubation period in the hope that they would hatch during the event. The parents, Du and Mei, sat beside the perked up eggs which laid in a soft bed of silky fabrics and cushions. They where eagerly opening yet another present when suddenly small cracking sounds could be heard. An egg was hatching! Like madmen the entire Gossam population of the room rushed towards the egg bed and gathered around it, Du and Mei on the front seat. A small Gossam slowly crawled out of one of the eggs. For some time there was a dead silence in the room, all eyes focused on the tiny motionless creature. Finally someone cut into the silence with a doubtful: “Is it all right?” Another moment of silence as the parents picked it up. “Perhaps you should go to the hospital with it?” Someone remarked. It was clear something was wrong with this child, and so they went.
Early youth
Noa had a somewhat uneventful early youth. His parents where always trying to impart the tricks of their trade from young age on, so that Noa had a ‘bright’ future ahead of him as a merchant – something his race excelled in. Noa was an only child; all his siblings had never came out. He was the only egg that had hatched, and was only able to survive after intensive treatment at the hospital. It appeared that his lounges where extremely feeble. They had adapted to the climate on Brentaal IV; he had some bad fits of coughing from time to time but nothing really serious. A change of environment could prove disastrous for the young Gossam however.
When Noa was around 4 years old his parents, who where always trying to attain more money and power, became involved with crime families and gangs. Around the same time they discovered gambling, which seemed to them to be an easy way to get rich quickly. In time they became real addicts and became more and more dependent on loans from shady organizations.
Discovery
Dan Padding was a jedi on a mission to search and destroy a small dark jedi cell on Brentaal IV. When he was at a droid store inquiring about some rumors he noticed Noa, who was standing next to his parents who where haggling about a cheap looking power converter. The jedi could feel the Force was strong in the boy, bit he paid no further attention to him. Dan wasn’t here for recruiting and needed to focus on the task at hand.
The following day Noa was sitting outside the gambling den his parents regularly visited. He was bored and played with his toes when he was approached by a robed figure. It was Dan, the jedi from the day before. Dan squatted and started a conversation with the young boy. At the end of the dialogue he asked Noa if he would like to become a jedi knight. The boy couldn’t believe his ears. He? A jedi knight?! He nodded enthusiastically and Dan entered the den. He informed the parents about his plan. At first they where reluctant to let their son go, remarking that they needed him to do chores - but after some convincing force persuasion they where suddenly very willing to let go of him. Dan took a blood sample to his ship, and the test indicated that this kid indeed had a high midi-chlorian count. Dan would pick Noa up after he had finished his mission.
After two moths the jedi did indeed return and took the Gossam to the academy on Coruscant. Arriving there the youngling immediately started to cough violently and collapsed after a few moments.
Health problems
Dan brought Noa to the academy as fast as he could and there he was healed, and put in a sterilized room. They discovered that the child had very frail lounges and the difference in climate between Brentaal IV and Coruscant took a heavy toll on him. Together with Dan Noa would walk small distances every day to make his lounges become accustomed to the new planet’s atmosphere. After several months his condition improved and he was able to safely live outside. However, it would be necessary for him to wear breathing apparatus whenever he would leave Coruscant.
Acceptance into the Order
It was accepted that Noa became an apprentice at the academy. He made remarkable progress and was known for his exceptional intelligence. He was able to memorize almost every jedi-work he read and was good at persuading people. When the youngling turned 10 Dan Padding himself took Noa as his padawan learner and Noa constructed his viridian light saber. Under Dan he developed his Shien- and Djem So lightsaber form and became quite adept in it. The master and padawan went on numerous quests together, most notably the hunt for the Trandoshan Yavassk.
Yavassk
Noa was 13 when the troubles with Yavassk began. There had been reports of people vanishing in the Coruscanti lower classes. They would simply disappear, never to be seen again. Dan and Noa had to find out what had become of these poor souls and bring the perpetrator to justice. Many months passed with no results. They questioned, searched archives, went trough long lists of names, and questioned some more. Finally they where tipped off by an anonymous Rodian. The Rodian was sniped from afar by Hussk, a Trandoshan slaver, during the meeting but was able to pass on the name of the man they where looking for before dying: Yavassk.
Yavassk had somewhat of a stronghold in one of the more seedy and darker places of Coruscant. They easily found out it’s location and infiltrated the base. Inside it became clear that it was an outpost for slavers where slaves where distributed throughout the galaxy. However, while observing all the unsavory activities they where discovered because of almost invisible security cameras placed everywhere in the base. The duo lost consciousness when the room they where in was gassed. Noa was sold to a small group of researchers on Nelvaan and Dan was shipped to Berea to be held as a hostage and to demand a ransom. Berea was the gang’s center of operations.
On Nelvaan Noa initially had little problems adapting to the sterile environment of the research lab. He didn’t have to wear his breathing apparatus (which was impossible anyway because the scientist had taken all his possessions except for his underwear.) However, after a few days they began testing how long he would be able to stand outside before suffering from hypothermia and it went wrong. Coughing and spluttering Noa collapsed after only a minute and was taken back to his room. His condition would worsen from that moment on: the cold- and climate-shock had this time permanently damaged his vulnerable lounges.
Survival of the fittest
Help was on his way however, because Dan had easily overpowered his captors when he regained his consciousness during his transportation to Berea. He was able to locate Noa using the ‘sold slaves list’ that was accessible via the ship’s on-board console. He reaches Nelvaan without any further problems and was able to find the research outpost. He hurried because he knows the boy’s life was in danger if he would be exposed to the alien atmosphere. At first the jedi intended to take the diplomatic route, but when the researchers immediately activate the base defenses when he approached he was forced into a more violent approach.
The knight overwhelmed the defense system with no trouble, ignored the cowering scientists as he entered the base and went straight for the room where his padawan was held – sensing where he was. Forcing open the door he found Noa in a worse condition than he had imagined. The helpless Gossam coughed himself hoarse and even breathing was very painful for him. Dan immediately applied medical treatment in the form of Force healing arts, but he had grave doubts in his student’s survival. It was difficult, but after a treatment of almost an hour Noa had recovered considerably and was given his breathing mask by Dan. As they where about to leave a horde of thugs aligned to Yavassk swarmed the outpost, having traced Dan’s position. The two where able to get back to the ship and took off. They didn’t get far however, as the ship was sabotaged by the slavers and the engines imploded. They crash-landed a few kilometers away from the research center. The thugs left, leaving the jedi for dead.
Dan was severely injured by the crash, but miraculously Noa was unharmed apart from some cuts and bruises. Dan was unable to heal himself and he and Noa took shelter in the wreckage of their ship. The following days Noa looked for food, scavenging and hunting, as well as lighting a fire with his lightsaber to melt ice for water. He had build a adequate shelter that was relatively warm and he was always able to find it back by the smoke of the campfire.
One day a vicious blizzard suddenly sprung up, catching Noa completely by surprise while he was out foraging. He tried to return to the shelter but actually went in completely the opposite direction. When after a few hours the storm finally died down Noa found himself in an unknown location, far away from his refuge. He tried to find it again to save his helpless master from certain death but collapsed from hunger and exhaustion after two days and nights.
Recovery
Noa was discovered by a Bothan ship only an hour after his collapse and taken aboard, if he had been on the icy wastes much longer he would have died from hypothermia. He was taken to Coruscant by the Bothans; and after he was treated by the medical jedi he reported to the council. Noa told of the death of his master and about his stay on Nelvaan. The council was impressed by the young padawan’s ability to survive on the arctic tundra. They stressed the importance of not bearing Yavassk a grudge, because that could lead him to the dark side; Noa promised this. The council deemed him to be too inexperienced to be a jedi knight as of yet so he had to find a new master to continue his training. Noa retreated for some time after his adventure on Nelvaan to train his skills and reflect upon his behavior and spirit. He also studied numerous jedi works in depth, in particular master Odan-Urr’s.

“You do know what you are doing, right?” The droid said.
The monotone and metallic voice had interrupted Noa once again. “Yes!” He said slightly irritated, “How many times have you asked me that by know?” the Gossam grumbled as he turned his face to the circuits and machinery inside the droid’s stomach again.
“Five times.” The droid responded artlessly.
“Five times!” Noa exclaimed. “Now where is that hydrospanner…?”
“Five times, and I am only trying to point out that you are very rough while repairing me. You’re hurting me.”
“Is it even possible for a droid to experience pain?”
The protocol droid was apparently offended by that remark and evidently chose to ignore the jedi. There where a few seconds of silence but when the droid noticed that Noa didn’t mind he started talking again: “So you are a jedi?”
“Yes I am.”
“Why?”
“Err… to protect the universe and keep the peace.” Noa responded, explaining it somewhat straightforward.
The droid thought theatrically for a moment before stating hypocritically: “You have security forces for that, do you not?”
“It’s not like that… agh! Why am I explaining this to you?!”
“Because I was interested in you.” The droid answer haughtily.
“Oh well, I’ll see if I can upload some jedi tomes into you, then you’ll know everything about us.”
“No thank you.” He responded before looking away. There was an uncomfortable silence for a few seconds during which only the grating noise of the welder emitted sound. “Aauuch!” The droid suddenly cried affectedly. “What are you, a Gamorrean? You’re being very rough, sir!”
“I’m sorry, you’re the first droid I’ve ever repaired.”
“The first?! Are you mad?! I’m not just some kind of laboratory animal on which you can experiment to your heart's content! I’m getting out of here, perhaps have a romp with some bomas, that will be much safer!” The droid made a futile attempt to punch the jedi in the face and make a run for it, but Noa beat him to the punch and quickly deactivated him.
“Relax. I know what I’m doing. In a moment you’ll be as good as new. Probably…”
