Name: Elsie Therin
Race: Echani
Age: 26
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 125 lbs
Appearance: Has long, straight, silver hair that reaches down to the middle of her back and is usually kept untied. Silver eyes with fairly well-proportioned facial features. Her body is slender but athletic from years of training, and she carries herself with poise and confidence. Typically wears snowy-white robes over a set of traditional Echani light body armor.
Birth place: Thyrsus
Faction: Jedi
Rank: Knight / Guardian
Bio:
Elsie's force sensitivity was discovered by the Jedi Watchmen of the system while she was still an infant, and so she has no recollection of her parents or family, her earliest memories being of the Jedi Temple. It was the only home she ever knew.
She was five when she first consciously noticed how her white hair made her appear different from most of the other near-human younglings, and it was this realization that first caused her to take an interest in her Echani heritage. The traditions and techniques of Echani hand-to-hand combat interested her greatly, and it was this interest that eventually led to her decision to train towards pursuing the path of the Jedi guardian. Determined to one day be the perfect Jedi guardian, she put extra effort into her physical training, often continuing her exercises after the end of classes when the other younglings would go rest. She was an eager and energetic young girl, and by the age of ten would often be found doing handstands in the hallways of the temple, or doing the splits while reading.
A year later, she was taken on as a padawan by a young knight named Dimir Saren. Elsie was an eager learner and quickly absorbed everything that he taught her, from Force techniques to lightsaber combat forms. Saren even made sure that Elsie received the instruction she needed in Echani hand-to-hand combat, occasionally calling upon other masters to help give her additional teachings.
Saren often partnered with other knights on missions, and it was through one of these partnerships that Elsie first met Arlen Manel, another young padawan of the same age. The four of them, two sets of master and padawan, spent much time traveling the galaxy together, resolving disputes, battling pirates and gangsters, questing for lightsaber crystals, and generally being good jedi. Elsie and Arlen grew especially close after one mission against a group of slavers hiding in the jungles of Kashyyyk when they were separated from their masters after their transport was shot down by a shoulder-mounted missile. The two had to work together to survive the night, defending each other from the planet's deadly predators, before their masters managed to find them again in the morning. Although it would have been a lie to say that neither contemplated ever being more than just friends, both were committed to the Jedi Order, so best friends as far as they got.
While on Kashyyyk, Elsie killed an Urnsor'is parasite, and retrieved a nak'tra crystal from its stomach. She kept the crystal, and later under the guidance of her master, imbued it with the Force for use in her lightsaber, giving her blade a silvery sheen.
Elsie was twenty when the four of them were sent to investigate a cell of rogue dark-side force users. However, once again things did not go as planned when the darksiders, under the pretense of surrender, ambushed them, killing Arlen's master and capturing the other three. They were separated into different rooms, then subject to various tortures hoping to turn them over to the dark side. Fortunately, Saren managed to break himself and Elsie free, but overwhelming resistance from the darksiders stopped him from saving Arlen in time, and they were forced to retreat. By the time the Jedi had managed to muster up a second party to deal with the darksiders, they had packed up their base and disappeared.
A year later, that same cell of dark side users resurfaced, targeting a large metropolitan area with deadly biological weapons, and Elsie and her master were dispatched with several others to deal with them. It was there that Elsie encountered Arlen again, but the combination of torture and the loss of his master had caused him to fall to the Dark Side. The two fought a vicious battle, with Elsie eventually coming out on top. Arlen was arrested and imprisoned. Attempts were made to turn him back to the light, but proved ineffectual. He wasted away and eventually died in prison.
For her valor in combat and dedication to the light, Elsie was deemed ready for the Jedi Trials, and she was soon promoted to the rank of Knight. However, the death of Arlen had affected her deeply. Arlen had been a very good friend, yet the man she had fought and the friend she had known seemed like two completely different people. The power of the Dark Side to completely change and warp a person, it was frightening.
After much thinking on the matter, Elsie came to a realization. The Dark Side was a poison upon the galaxy. She had seen firsthand what it could do. How much of Arlen had been left in the man that she had fought? None, she decided. Her friend had died that day in the darksider base. She remembered how twisted and pathetic he had seemed during his last days, and wondered whether or not it would have been more merciful had she struck a killing blow. Yet her attachment to the man he once was had stayed her hand. Attachments were weakness, she decided, and in the war between dark and light, she had to be strong. Her heart hardened as she resolved to never let these sorts of attachments weaken her again and prevent her from doing what must be done.
The Dark Side was a disease that needed to be eradicated, and the Jedi were the cure. Her promotion to Knight, that was a mandate from the Council. She would seek out the darkness wherever it lurked, and destroy it. She would redouble her efforts, continuing her training in hand-to-hand combat, further her knowledge in Form VI lightsaber combat, while adding basic knowledge of Form II to her arsenal. To combat the darkness, she needed to be the perfect Jedi guardian, a soldier of the Light.

The fanciest restaurant on Carida was a place frequented by the rich and high-class. It also happened to be a favorite dining location for the crime lord Cletus Racto. Surrounded by his minions and bodyguards, he was as safe here as in his own home. Today was an especially good day for him. It had been a month since he had first struck that deal with the Sith Empire to smuggle various arms and armaments, and the profits were really starting to flow in. He has hanging with the high-rollers now, and today he had order a dish to reflect his now heightened status of his organization. Moonglow. Definitely a good day.
All heads in the restaurant turned as a white-cloaked figure entered the room. All the sudden attention did not faze Elsie Therin however. She was a Knight of the Jedi Order, and she had a mission. Picking Racto out from among the crowd across the room, she lowered her hood and stared him straight in the eye. "Cletus Racto, by the authority of the Republic and the Jedi Order, you are under arrest for illegal dealings with the Sith Empire," she said firmly, loud enough so that he could hear every word, but soft enough that it came across to him as barely a whisper.
Racto smiled and arched a skeptical eyebrow. She was only a young girl, in her twenties from the looks of it, and Jedi or not, alone. "And if I refuse to come quietly?"
Elsie casual swept aside her cloak, revealing her lightsaber, which unclipped itself from her belt and floated into her waiting hand. "You can come quietly now, or come later after paying for all the damages you cause to this establishment from your struggle."
"You're a fool," Racto growled, and with a wave of his hand, his numerous guards stationed around the room stood up and raised their weapons. "Do you think I'm afraid of you just because you have a laser sword? This is my domain. You Jedi have no jurisdiction here."
Elsie sighed. With the press of a button, her silver lightsaber blade ignited with a snap-hiss. They always had to choose the hard way, didn't they? Quickly her eyes scanned the room, counting the number of enemies, her mind already calculating a course of action to take them all down. As the guards raised their blasters to fire, she exploded into motion. A slash of the saber here, a kick or palm strike there, within the space of a few minutes all her opponents were down, and she faced Racto, who without his guards, was no longer acting tough, but was curled up in a corner begging for mercy. She was tempted to cut him down. He man was hurting all the people of the Republic with his shady deals with the Sith, just for a few measly credits. Men like that made her sick. But she had her orders, and that stayed her blade.
"The Jedi hold sway wherever the light shines," she said, pointing her lightsaber at the defeated man. "And where there is no light, we bring it."
(( My first Jedi char! Anyways, I'm not sure I put enough down for the Trials part, and I'm not sure just how she comes across a silver saber crystal just yet. Advice and feedback appreciated! ))
