Birth of the Moon Child
On the vast far away planet of Glee Anslem, lived the Nautolans. The dominate race in this system, with distinctive features and their abilities with the water. They kept to themselves mainly, many of them not traveling very far from their home world. However, this oceanic dominated planet would have interesting visitors, and house a very special child.
Near the Glee Anslem system, two Twi’lek siblings, brother and sister, flew their crude and almost junk heap of a ship to the Nautolan home world. Unknown to others, they were attempting to immigrate from their own home planet of Ryloth. Because of the harsh conditions known on that planet, they were tired of it.
Arriving there after a long trip in the junk ship, they landed, and as soon as they stepped off the ship, there were official waiting to greet the foreigners. They told the Nautiloids of their situation. The brother, Kil’Twik, and the sister, Telsia, told the, what seemed to be the leader of that region, their situation. After much discussion and a quick talk over a very bountiful meal, the Twi’lek siblings were aloud to live on Nautolan safely under the protection of the Nautolan government.
Happy with their new home and lives, Kil’Twik and Telsia moved into their new home. They were living close to a friendly Nautolan family of two. The family was small, only consisted, Tyro Kestal, and his wife, Keilra Fylo Kestal. They were happy to see new faces around and very fascinated with the Twi’leks. Upon the meeting of the two families, Keilra was pregnant and due soon with a baby. The family welcomed the Twi’leks as one of their own, helping them get started, and even offering them jobs in their trading company. The families thrived in peace for several months.
Then, as the Force danced with the dark and the light sides, peace had to come with a price. As the suns for Glee Anslem were setting, and nightfall began to hit, a slave trading ship made its way towards the Nautolan planet. As they landed they enforced their reason for being here, they wanted to find a Twi’lek slave girl, Telsia. The Nautolan’s knew of this already when the Twi’leks first landed on the planet, and they were not about to conspire with slave traders. But as fate would have it for the traders, a greedy off-worlder who was just delivering supplies, informed of Telsia’s location. Quickly the slave traders traveled to the Twi’leks homes, fortunately they were not home, out getting droid supplies in the nearby town; however that did not stop the traders. They ran through their homes, trashing and tearing it down looking for anything that could lead them to where they are, and then when the traders were done, they moved toward their neighbors, the Kestals. Seeing that they were in danger, Tyfo Kestal took up his blade and hunting knife and greeted the money hungry traders. After a long argument, the slave traders resorted to violence. Tyfo was an excellent hunter, but not an amazing fighter, he fought as best he could, but they outnumbered him three to one. Brutally killing him and gutting him, then hanging him upon his own house, they went for Tyfo’s wife. She was huddled in the corner of her soon to be baby boy’s room. Just when they were to strike her down, a blaster shot was heard, and the lead trader was shot in the back of the skull. Then suddenly without warning two more shot off, dropping the other two traders. Behind them stood Kil’Twik and Telsia, holding their blasters still shaking from shooting and killing someone. The Twi’leks quickly rushed to Keilra’s aid. Barely able to move anyway from the baby, Kil’Twik just helped her up slowly. They cut down Tyfo’s dead body to not disgrace him anymore, and helped Keilra into a speeder to rush to a medical facility. As luck would have it, it was just in time, for the moment she was brought to the medical bay by the siblings, Keilra went into labor. For some pain staking hours, her son was finally born, death grasp his last victim that night. Keilra died giving birth to her son who she named with her last breath, Kal, Kal Kestal. Seeing the only ones there, Kil’Twik and Telsia insisted they take in Kal to raise him with love. The night was grim; it was filled with mixed emotions. Cleaning up Tyfo’s old house and setting the baby to bed, the Twi’leks was filled with joy of the boy, but sarrow of their good friends who died for them. Putting them both in boats, and setting them sailing across the vast ocean of their home world, Kil’Twik and Telsia promised that night they would raise Kal as he should be, surrounded by people that care for him. Born under the brightest moon that night, and under the darkest sunrise, Kal Kestal would be something special.
The finding of a Youngling
After five years since the death of his birth parents, Kal grew up to be quite the excited little Naulotan. Every day he would go swimming, fishing with his birth fathers hunting knife. At six, Kil’Twik and Telsia informed him of how he was adobted by them, and told him the story of his birth parents. Kal was not struck by sarrow, but instead happiness to know the truth, and honor of being a Kestal. The Twi’leks did their best to raise him and influence him about Nautiloids and Twi’leks. They taught him Galactic basic, the Nautolan Language, and of course a lot of Twi’leki. Kal quickly became fluent in all three of these languages, as well and various others in his studies. He could often just speak whole conversations using different words from different languages to help him learn it more. Kil’Twik and Telsia were very happy to see him grow strong and fit.
After a travel into town for a new protocol droid, Kal started events that led him to the jedi order. Kal was not only very bright, but also very curious, often times sneaking off in town without his parents, just to go see what the world around him was like. This time, he snuck off and saw a Jedi settle down a bar fight in a nearby cantina. Kal was immediately struck with amazement at the Jedi’s and especially their lightsabers, so much so, that his fascination for a lightsaber and the Jedi’s “Force” use, would lead him to stealing and almost getting away with the lightsaber of Jedi knight Uljarr.
Using his sly skills, he listened in on a conversation the Jedi was having with the local cantina owner, the Jedi was to stay for a couple of days, and he needed his ship repaired. Kal thought this was the perfect time to just “barrow” the interesting weapon these Jedi carried. Unknown to Kal however, Uljarr had already foresaw this event, and knew that Kal housed a very high power of the Force within him. After a few minutes of waiting Kal saw his chance, as Uljarr was taking a sip of his drink, Kal leaped forward and rolled from underneath a nearby table he was hiding from taking the lightsaber, Uljarr just smiled as he set the glass down. Kal ran home smiling a big bright white smile, but as he arrived, he saw that the Jedi Uljarr was already there. After a few scolding words by his parents, Kal returned the lightsaber to Uljarr. Uljarr just smiled at the small boy and asked him if he would like one of his own. Kal was confused and excited about the Jedi’s offer. After a long night of talking and discussion about Kal’s abilities, the decision was left up to Kal. Kal thought a little bit before turning to his Twi’lek family with an answer, he would train and become a Jedi. Before leaving home, his family gave him small items for his journey, tokens of his past. From his Twi’lek family, a small rope string necklace with a crescent moon stone on it, and in a small container dusted off, was a trinket left behind by his birth parents Tyfo, it was an instrument. It resembled a conch shell, but with skillfully crafted holes in it, one at the bottom for the thumb, four on the back side for one hand and another for on the spiked side near the opening for another four fingers, with the standard natural opening that you blew into. Kil’Twik said Kal’s father used it and played it when he wanted good luck, and that is how Tyfo met his wife Keilra. Kal was glad to have his trinket and still wears the necklace and plays the shell flute to this day. With his last goodbyes, and his final words, he left Glee Anslem, the small five years old would not return to his home planet again.
The training and the Trials
His first week at the temple was Kal’s favorite. He was so eager to learn everything at that moment, but he needed patients. That was one of his main problems to overcome. His days as a youngling were just filled with being a child in the temple and basic training. Every day he was always the first one up, and the last one to go to bed, this was often a problem for his health because it caused him to pass out rather quickly one day in the middle of meditation, and sleep. But through it all he was finally ready to be picked by a master. The 13 year old Naulotan was eager to start to learn more from his own master. The day he was assigned one, it didn’t surprise him that Uljarr, the master that found him in the first place, selected him to be his apprentice and padawan. So finally the day came, Kal was ready for his very own lightsaber. Going to the caves of Ilum, he picked out his own crystal, a very deep bright green, a reminder of his family and green hills of his homeland. He and his master meditated with the force, building his own lightsaber, he even modified it so his saber could operate fully functionally underwater. He was ready. His next training sessions were ever more challenging. He focused more and more on balancing out his studies of the Force and his lightsaber skills. He mastered Shii-Cho already very quickly as a youngling, and now wanted to expand on his saber combat skills. He was very fond of the Ataru style, and the Soresu style. He spent most of his time honing on those two styles and learning some basic of Shien. But where Kal excelled was in the water, his speed under the water made him a quick strike cannon, he wanted to use this also when on land. So he developed and improvised on the three styles he was most familiar with, Shii-Cho, Ataru, and Soresu, still not nearly knowledgeable enough to master the last two, he would develop a unique way of using all three together. He wanted to simulate his first strike, first kill tactics of his lightning swimming dashes underwater, so his land techniques do the same. He would strike quick and fast, but broad, often a small spin added, then sometimes he would quickly dash forward using the force for extra speed to get in a quick strike kill, though this was very effective for one on one, and maybe two, his unique style of using these forms would leave his defense very weak. He was also very fond of the single bladed saber staff, also equipped with the modification to work under water and his green blade; he picked this up early on. He used this to work with his quick lunges and broad sweeping strikes, also worked very well underwater. Kal never used them at the same time, only one or the other, or one used for a surprise thrust attack.
Knowing the days of small training and small missions of breaking up cantina bar fights were coming to a close, Kal needed to perfect and balance out his Force techniques. Lots of concentration, when he was not establishing his saber training, was spent learning Force skills. One he developed was a Force air bubble, not being able to master it till his later years on the council, this Force “bubble” came to be his favorite thing to practice, among other telekinesis skills and telepathy. Compressing water molecules in the air, he can create a condense Force bubble projectile, throwing it and creating any size he wishes, it was much more effective with water near by.
The day he would take the trials finally approached. Kal was ready, but it would be interrupted by a mission that Uljarr was sent to investigate. The day before Kal’s trial day, another jedi knight and his padawan, an elegant young Rutian Twi’Lek by the name of Nuit, were sent to investigate a supposed abandoned Sith battle ship floating dangerously close to republic space, unfortunately they never reported back to the council.
Kal was not disappointed with holding off the trials to help another Jedi, especially Nuit, he was very fond of her, they would train together extensively in saber combat at times. Kal was pushing his friendship with her close to breaking the Jedi code, but he knew what he believed, and he trusted the Force to help him with suppressing these emotions. When master Uljarr and Kal arrived, there had already been signs of a recent struggle, some parts of the ship had be closed off due to the exposure to the vacuum of space. Uljarr and Kal searched quickly, having their guard always ready. Towards the end of their search, near the flight deck, they spotted young Nuit knocked out on a control panel still alive. Kal carelessly going to see if she was ok was ambushed by Sith troops. Quickly running out of a nearby corridor, they seemed to flood the room, at least six of them. Kal thought of saving her first, lifting her up and setting her aside while his master Uljarr helped defend and deflect incoming blaster fire. Once Kal thought that Nuit was safe, he joined with his master. The fight was over quickly, being common troopers seeming to just learn how to fire a blaster; the two Jedi had no problem with quickly suppressing them. Kal and Uljarr returned with Nuit back to the Jedi temple. They could not find Nuit’s master; they feared the worst and could not sense his life Force anywhere aboard that ship or near them. The next few days’ Kal just spent watching over Nuit from time to time while she was in the medical station. When Nuit awoke, Kal greeted her with his usual gleaming smile that could brighten up her day anytime. Nuit also greeted him, but with a kiss. Something that shocked even Kal, thankfully there was no Jedi around, just a few medical droids. Nuit was a little surprised herself to what she had done, and quickly bowed and walked out. Kal and Nuit would still spend time together, just a little closer than normally expected.
Kal finally had his trials. At 23 he took the trials. The whole time was effective in his testing; it made him think about his actions, and decide quickly on what must be done. Again his weakness showed a little, acting without thinking, but he overcame that flaw quickly, realizing his actions could cost him his life one day. After he arose from the trials, Uljarr and Kal were summoned to the council chamber, and Kal was premoted to a Jedi Knight, and Uljarr became a master.
The Moon Masters the Sky
The next 14 years tested Kal’s abilities even greater, in his mind possibly greater than his trials as a padawan. Kal would take on a padawan learner to become a knight. Quickly he was assigned a padawan, who was head strong and eager, just like Kal was. Kal saw much of himself in his padawan, a small human child named Yuthre. Yuthre was often to head strong to follow orders from Kal, but Kal had to prove his teaching abilities. Training Yuthre in saber combat, and to concentrate on the Force that surrounds us all, Kal saw much potential in Yuthre. Yuthre was much more balanced and learned to think through his actions rather than jump in head strong. A challenge Yuthre mastered twice as fast than Kal when he was a padawan. Through it all Yuthre was looking to be a great learner.
Though the biggest test for Yuthre and his master Kal, almost cost Kal his life. Kal and Yuthre were sent to a nearby trading yard to look for sith smugglers. It was said they were sneaking in major weapons from Corosaunt, and posed a possible threat to the peace of the system. As Kal and Yuthre stepped off their land speeder, they both had already felt a slight disturbance in the Force. Kal and Yuthre were prepared. Kal walked in the front using negotiations to get the desk officer to let the jedi look around. After much debate, Kal persuaded the officer to let the Jedi’s look. After walking around finding nothing, Kal and Yuthre were still not convinced. After Yuthre stumbled upon a hidden door behind a cargo tank, sith were already on top of them. Falling straight into a trap, Yuthre and Kal defended themselves making their way to an exit. After running down several hallways, Kal stumbled upon holding rooms that contained younglings of different races; they were all strapped to a chair and seemed to be sleeping. Looking through some data files, Yuthre and Kal discovered that sith were kidnapping young children from Corosaunt and attempting to influence them at a young age. Corrupting the youth, Kal and Yuthre could not just let this facility continue operations. Yuthre carefully sent a message to the temple to send a speeder and relayed the data disks he found. The republic quickly responded and was on their way. Kal knew they didn’t have much time, and more sith were pouring through the hallway, he knew if the sith couldn’t stop the Jedi, they would kill the younglings or use them as hostages. Kal quickly used the force to pull off several cargo tanks to make a blockage for one end of the hallway, while he had to fight off sith coming from the other side. Kal used the hallway to his advantage, knowing they had to file in, one or two by two, Kal had the advantage. Yuthre was busy helping the younglings to safety in a locked down room to make sure they were safe. Kal was keeping up his fight, his style excelled in small conflicts, but he was growing tired, they seemed endless these sith. Kal was busy fighting the front, when sith finally broke through behind him, Kal was surrounded. Several shots were fired and Kal dropped, a blaster shot straight through his chest, luckily only hitting one of his many functional hearts, this gave the illusion that Kal was dead as he layed there, letting the sith pass by over him. Kal could not live long still with that wound so he waited and used the force to calm his heart rate to give him those extra seconds. Finally the last of them walked over him, and Kal stood up quickly striking them down. By the time Yuthre arrived, the Republic forces and two more Jedi arrived at the base. The whole facility was shut down and the remaining sith taken into custody, Kal stood up proud, congratulating Yuthre on a great victory, but Kal fell to the floor and passed out from his wound, the damage to his one heart actually rippled through to his other heart causing some significant damage. After a few days in a bacta tank, Kal awoke, seeing familiar faces of his padawan Yuthre, and the ever lovely smile of Nuit. Kal just smiled putting his hand against the glass towards Nuit. She leaned in putting her forehead against the tank and matching her hand up with his smiling. Kal could sense what she was feeling, Nuit knew it as well.
After a day of quick recovery after his awakening in the medical station, Kal was summoned to the council chambers with his padawan Yuthre. There the whole council stood, watching them both as they entered, Kal bowed to them along with Yuthre. The council discussed the events that took place recently and had already purposed that Kal was to be promoted to Jedi master and a position on the council. The council had made their decision; Kal respectfully kneeled as did Yuthre. It was then that his padawan Yuthre was promoted to a knight and Kal a Jedi master, for his dedication, pride in his student, and the self sacrifices he made to aid in what could have been a horrible sith corruption on Corosaunt, and his valiant bravery of saving Nuit and training his padawan Yuthre to be a respectable Jedi knight.

Kal walked passed the courtyard in the Jedi temple. He enjoyed the quiet and calm at times, just to keep his mind away from the hard times of war and crimes through out the galaxy. His eye looked to the quiet sky, the air breezed passed his face. He enjoyed the times of peace, enjoyed every second even more since his days spent recovering in the medical station.
As he was walking by, he saw a youngling struggling with his force moving abilities. He was trying to focus and move a rather large courtyard chair. Kal smiled as he walked over to him.
"You use to much of your mind young one." Kal said as he knelt down to be at the youngling's level.
The young Jedi turned to see Kal's smiling face. The young Jedi spoke softly and bowed towards master Kal.
"I am sorry master? But how can someone use to much of their mind?" The young one was confused.
Kal just stood up again and smiled resting his hand on the young one's shoulder. He spoke with a soft tone while looking around.
"I know you were taught about the Force." He stopped for a moment to lift his hand up feeling the calm breeze of the wind. "How it surrounds us, how it flows through all living things in the universe, how it balances out the universe." The youngling was getting impatient.
"I already know all of that, how can that help me move that stone bench?" The youngling turned back around facing the bench frustrated. Kal just smiled and turned to him. "Why do you think you cannot move it?"
The youngling responded quickly. "Because it is to heavy!" The young jedi tried again to lift it with the force, again he failed. The large stone bench merely shook slightly, not even lifting a bit off the ground. Kal just sighed and repeated to the young jedi.
"You think to much about the object itself. Here, see that pot over there, holding the blue flower? Can you lift that?" The youngling just sighed.
"Of course, it isnt as heavy as the bench over there." The young jedi concentrated very hard as he felt the force go through him, after a few minutes of just merely shaking the pot, the young jedi lifted it a good distance off the ground and set it aside. Kal just smiled and knelt down once again. "Now, was that so hard?"
The youngling responded arrogantly, "Of course not. It was just a pot with a light plant inside." Kal just laughed.
Kal walked the youngling over and asked him to try and pick it up, they both tried, it seemed to weigh the same amount as a full grown hutt. The youngling was confused. Kal just smiled and explained.
"You think to much on the appearance and weight of things, if I told you that this plant actually was from a very distance planet and weighed ten times as much on this world, you would have just thought about how heavy it was. But seeing as how you saw it as so simple, your mind cleared and all you focused on was the Force, letting it guide you and help you move the pot." The youngling's face seemed to brighten up, as if a spark of inspiration finally hit him. He quickly bowed to master Kal thanking him and running off to his training. Kal just waved and yelled out to the young one, "May the Force be with you."
