So I had this idea for a roleplay, where instead of playing a handful of characters, one would play an entire NATION. It's called Nation RPing, which is what got me into Play-By-Post RPing.
Nation RPing is heavy on logistics and numbers. Keeping a balanced economy and maintaining your military is essential. Events are not judged by equations like in a browser game, but rather playing it out in an RP.
I have two ideas, the main one being a Star Wars setting. It happens 330 ABY, and the galaxy has shattered completely. The One Sith have divorced themselves from the Empire, and are now essentially functioning like pre-Bane Sith, only with competing nations rather than a single Empire. The Mandalorians are back and strong, but Mandalore's mask has been missing for years, and so they do not function as a single group, but individually. The Galactic Alliance never fully recovered and is nowhere near its original size. The Empire split into the different Moffdoms once more, an Empire without an Emperor. And then I guess the Chiss had a civil war or something.
Anyway, the point is that players can pick any SW planet (they start with ONE planet) and they try to make a name for themselves in the galaxy. They can form alliances, trade, declare war, do as nations do. Their planets are customizable within reason, and they can even create original planets (but not species.)
Players would have to keep up with military numbers, resources that they have, their economy, and whatnot. They play as one of the factions (Sith, GA, Empire, Chiss, Mandalorians, Corporate, Criminal, Hutt, Independant), but with the exception of the GA, they are not required to cooperate with their contemporaries; anyone is fair game, though the GA will be used as the 'united' faction.
I also had the alternate idea of making it a Fallout roleplay based in New England, the South, or perhaps Texas, but I'm more keen on the Star Wars idea. More chance for epic.
So tell me what you think!
EDIT: I would really appreciate feedback and comments. Votes are good, comments are better.
