A small ship hitting the ground broke the silence of the land. A few miles away sat a city, that usually was quite active. But even the biggest of cities cannot escape the grip of night, and so the land remained quite.
Luxa stepped off her ship. Her eyes closed. This was simply to get a better view of the history of the land. She only saw the grip of the Dark Side, and knew that it had occured here.
Of course it reffered to the murder of a fellow Jedi. He had fallen at the hands of two Jedi, destined for the Dark Side. Luxa was simply the there as a diplomat of the situation, to bring the two Jedi back to light.
As much as she wanted to explore the area, she knew patience was the bst strategy. She could only wait. So she sat down in the thin grass, crossed her legs, and simply thought, hoping her allies would arrive soon.

The Deep Core was difficult to maneuver through due to the density of the stars there, and it was a wonder life had found places to flourish. A few scientists even contended that a black hole of epic proportions lurked at the very center, the axis around which the galaxy revolved; many thought these men were odd, at best. Many more hardly gave the maunderings of the high scientific community any thought at all, being far more preoccupied with their own lives.
One such soul, however, had found himself laboriously pondering their maunderings during the complex route through space from Coruscant to Koros Major, formally known as Empress Teta after some war hero in ancient history. He didn't like it, of course, never having been the cerebral type anyway; one look would confirm that. His messy brown hair and muddy eyes did not inspire confidence in his intellect, nor did the vibro-blade scar beneath his left eye; and while he could be really quite clever in his own way, abstract scientific theories were not his way, no matter how relevant they were to his situation. Namely, navigating hyperspace in the vicinity of those densely packed stars and that epically proportioned black hole.
Then again, were it not for the red robes of a Jedi Knight about his underfed frame and the dragon's tooth lightsaber at his side, Tuljima Gunslinger probably wouldn't get much attention at all. Which was, usually, just how he wanted it.
At last a ping sounded, and he got up from the holovid (Deep Core Science and Navigation for Beginners, said the words on the casing) he'd been struggling with to go bring the ship down for a landing. "Ehh, looks like Mas'er Manga lan'ed a'ready," he muttered, landing his vessel close to hers. That she had found even this much grassland amidst the overwhelmingly metropolised planet was no small feat; Empress Teta was said to rival Coruscant in the size and depth of her cities.
He powered the ship down and walked off, blinking slowly in the glare coming off the nearby cityscape. His tall, gangly form seemed oddly incongruous, though one would be hard pressed to say just how that was. "Mas'er Manga?" he called, taking a few steps onto the thin grass. "Gunslingah's 'ere!" He looked around some more until he caught sight of the smaller woman, and walked over to her. "Where'sa h'oth'rs?" he asked in his slurred way.
"Jedi killin' Jedi," he said with a sigh after a moment, shaking his head. "Wha'ssa gal'xy comin' to..."

"Darkness..." the answer to Tuljima's question did not take a long tim for Luxa to answer. "Simply darkness. But was there ever a time when the Galaxy was free from the grip of darkness? Was there ever a time of pure love? Was there ever a time when the Jedi could rest in peace?" the speech fell out of Luxa's mouth, she had been holding in her thoughts for a while.
"Tell me young one. I hear you are strong in the Force? What do you see on or in this planet?" Luxa wanted to test the skills of her ally. Luxa would base her entore trust in Tuljima on his answer.

Why's it al'ays th' pretty ones gotta be so confusin'? Tuljima asked of himself as he gaped at Luxa. "Wha's I see..." he muttered, staring off into the dim. He cocked his head and drew on the Force, letting it into his senses; he had some skill at this, at least.
"Ehh... buncha grass, city on all sides," he replied half to himself. "Dunno why ren'gades'd come 'ere... ain't been no Sith 'r Dar' Jedi 'roun' 'ere in ages, is all a big city li'e Corusc'nt." He shook his head and stared harder, looking for subtleties; he hadn't ever been very good at subtleties, but he could try. "Ehh... ol' place, f'r sure... mebbe 'ere's some sorta unnergroun' bus'ness they wen' ter?"
He shook his head again and focused on Luxa. "Bu' lookit, Mas'er. I was jus' sent t' back y' up, you 'n Mas'er Moonflow, yeah? If'n ye heard o' me, ye'd know I'se n' good at riddles 'n such. I'se help ya fin' th' ren'gades'n subdue 'em if'n they resis', an' I c'n stick quiet-like in th' back 'til y' need me, but none o' them riddles 'n such, k? Uh, if'n y'please..."
He looked around again. "Where's yer kid, uh... Borg was 'e?" he asked, referring to Luxa's Padawan, Velos Borgmen. "Is 'e any good?"

"Ahh, Velos. He is quite a patient child, respectful, determined and has great potential. We recently returned from Ryloth," Luxa smiled at the sound of the planet. "Who has been suffering great losses from slave traders. We were able to fend off a bunch, but they will be back." Luxa bowed her head in saddness, realizing that Ryloth was long away from being fully protected.
"It seems I may have misjudged the planet's condition. But that does not matter now. What does is the mission ahead." Luxa made a complete mood change, and now was determined for success.
"I assume you read the brief. We really should wait until Velos of Master River arrive, but we must finish this mission as quickly as possible. What do you suggest be our first move." Luxa was again interested in hearing her ally's opinion. She always knew two brains were better than one.

Tuljima brightened; Luxa had started to ramble morosely, and that made him anxious, but her direct question was more in his line. "Easy!" he replied brightly. "Fin' ou' wha' they wan', set a trap wi' it, an' when they shows up ter see wha's wha, BAM!" He clapped his hands sharply, producing a loud hard whack. "Jump 'em quick, truss 'em up, an' be headin' back ter Corusc'nt 'fore any of 'em knows wha's wha!
"Bu' we're s'pposed t' be 'diplomatic' here," and he pronounced the word with exagerrated clarity and sarcasm, "so... eh, mebbe jus' poke aroun' a bit, see if we can't figger wha's wha fer ourselfs, an' then..." He shrugged vaguely. "I dunno. I dun us'ally do it peacey-like; guess th' Council figgered it'd be a 'learning experience' for me." Again with the sarcastic enunciation; apparently, he could speak normally if he wanted, but he only did so to emphasis his words.
"Bu' if'n it goes down ter fightin', I c'n take 'em live," and he drew his heavy blaster pistol, modified by Jedi technicians to have a variety of features not normally found on blaster pistols; it had a scope with complex lenses, a long fluted barrel, and an unusually large power cell in front of the trigger, which itself seemed rather sensitive and feathery. "See 'is baby? She c'n stun folks, gots rapid-fire, scope t' put mos' snipers droolin', hair trigger, an' en'anced stoppin' power." He twirled it rapidly about on his fingers, then slid it back into its holster. "She's m' person'l gun, 'ad 'er since bein' a Padawan, an' she'd ne'er let me down!" He also had a vibrosword, scabbarded just in front of the gun, and one had to wonder if it was as tricked out as his gun.

"I see." Luxa ensured her partmer. "I find that patience is often the best strategy. If you sit back and relax, a solution presents itself..." Luxa was unsure if this strategy would work on this misson though. Ther were after all hunting Jedi. Jedi that knew all of there tricks.
"But we are trying to complete this mission as quickly as possible. What if one of us went undercover?" Luxa had gone undercover before, and the results proved successful. However, it was hard, tideous work to prepare for.
Luxa mind was clouded. She needed more time to think, but she didn't know how long she had.

The escort ship carrying the young Padawan had been late arriving. Despite the urgency of Velos’ order he’d been unable to get a ship until a few hours ago. Now it landed onto Empress Teta and he stepped down looking over at his Master and some other guy. He climbed down the loading bay and looked around.
The sky was strangely darker than he’d ever seen; even at night. His lightsaber hung on his right hip as he walked. On his back was a pack of essentials; food, water, medic kits. He had wanted to come prepared.
He didn’t want to experience anything similar to Ryloth yet he knew that as he grew older he’d encounter much worse and he had to be ready for it. A sigh left his lips at that thought as he closed the gap between him and Luxa.
”I’m here Master. Sorry for any delay I may have caused you and your partner here.” Velos apologized instinctively bowing his head with his words. He looked up and then faced the stranger who was obviously accompanying them on this mission.
”Hi. I’m Velos Borgmen. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” Velos said briefly before turning once again to look at his Master. He had already read the brief and knew that two Jedi had killed one of their own kind and gone on the hide here. He sighed wondering how people could do that. Sighing he gazed up at the sky in thought. He was still new to the reality side of life.

"Welcome Velos." Luxa was enlightened to see her Padawan had arrived. "This is Jedi Knight Tuljima Gunslinger. He was sent here as back up." Luxa explained.
"It looks as though Master River will be arriving late. Let us make our plans, and if he does not arrive by morning, we will set off." It just occured to Luxa that if Master River didn't show up soon, she would be the highest ranking Jedi on the mission. That means her allies would be depending on her. However, this did not make her nervous. She did, after all, fight off an entire fleet of traders on Ryloth with the help of her Padawan.
"So, Tuljima, what do you think?" Luxa asked, referring back to the question she had asked earlier. Then it occured to Luxa, although he was young, Velos was still part of the mission. "Velos, allow me to tell you what we have been talking about. This mission must be completed as quickly as possible. But, we do not want to harm anyone. I think one of us should go undercover. What do you think?" Luxa asked her Padawan. If two brains were better that one, than three brains had to be better than two.

”It is a pleasure to work alongside you Tuljima Gunslinger.” Velos spoke confidently and bowed his head. The conversation between the two older Jedi sprung up again but soon Velos found his Master was speaking to him once more. Thinking about the situation Velos knew that there had to be some method of finding two Jedi.
”Well we do need to find out why they retreated here of all places. This planet is too far out of normal range to be anything less than sinister so something has to be going down here.” Velos suggested unsure right now how to work out the next call of action.

"Hmm..." Luxa was quickly processing everything in her mind. "It looks like we do not have time to wait. One of us needs to go out and search for anwsers." Luxa did not want the group to be seperated, but knew it was the only way.
"The other two will stay here, and await to see if Master Rive shows up." Luxa's confidence began to grow, as her plan began to fit together.
But where would they start to search for answers? Luxa began to think, pulling her hands to her head. "I sense a great disturbance in that direction." Luxa pointed to her right. "There has to be a city there. The one that does go should start there." But Luxa was ahead of herself, who would go?
"Who should go?" she finally asked, looking both at Velos and Tuljima.

Velos listened to Luxa intently wondering if he’d be suitable. He was still much younger than people would have suspected yet he did look older. Yet at the same time people wouldn’t instantly presume something if they saw it.
”I’ll go. I’ll be less noticeable plus people won’t suspect a child” Velos offered.

"Sup kid," Tuljima said vaguely, raising his hand at him. Velos and Luxa spoke to each other for a minute, then he replied. "Uhh, 'course 'ere's a city here, lookit," and he pointed all around them. Luxa's grassy patch was perhaps half a mile square; Cinnagar city rose up around them otherwise. "'S'like Corusc'nt 'cept not s'much, 'bout nine'y percen' o' th' planet's all a big city. Mas'er Manga were lucky t' find 'er little grassy bit 'ere, she was. Cities is people; our ren'gades came 'ere t' 'ide out, cuz y' can't sense a fellow if'n 'e's s'rroun'ed by a million billion other fellas, eh?
"An' y' also gots trade routes; 'is 'ere's th' Deep Core, an' all th' stars makes hyperspacin' real hard; gravity or some such." He was rather proud of that last bit of trivia, having learned it on the way here. "Teta's where 'bout two o' 'em cross 'n such, y'see? So our ren'gades prolly coulda left ag'in a'ready, if'n they figgered on bein' smoked ou'.
"An' abou' goin' unnercover, it'll be me an' 'at's tha'. Pretty Twi'lek 'r a rube kid'll jus' get shot, Jedi' 'r no'. But y'see 'ere..." He took his dragon-tooth lightsaber and stowed it in his pack, then rearranged his robes, making them haphazard; he reached down for some dirt and smeared it over the cloth, making them even dirtier than before, then he shrugged the cloak off and let it fall. This was why he dressed in oddly-colored robes; so that he could mess them up and they wouldn't look like Jedi clothing anymore. With that large pistol and the sword he looked less Jedi-like then before. "Y'see? Unnercover!" and he scowled irritably; combined with the scar on his face it made him look rather dangerous.

"I am sorry Velos, but I must agree with Tuljima. You are very skilled, but I am afraid your abilties are not ready for this typr of solo mission." Luxa told her Padawan. However, she was unsure if what Tuljima said was true. She happened to know that there were immigrated Twi'leks on Empress Tetta. However, she knew that she needed to stay behind. In her mind, the Force had not called her yet. Her job in the mission was yet to come.
"So Tuljima will go undercover to the city to search for a lead." Luxa said, looking at Tuljima. "Remeber, we do not want to start a fight, we want to get information. I am sure this planet has not hid from the likes of bounty hunters, so we must keep that fact that we are Jedi a secret." she continued.
"Return in two hours to give us an update. If you do not, we will come in search of you." Luxa remebered to always think of the worse possible outcome. As she found in the past, it was often exactly what happened...

Velos looked up at Tuljima wondering by what Luxa had warned him if he’d be able to successfully go undercover. He didn’t doubt the older male’s abilities but presumed that he was a more physical person who attacked first and asked questions later. He only hoped that Luxa’s decision to send him would be a good one.
”So what do we do whilst we wait?” Velos asked unsure of what his and Luxa’s role would be now for the next two hours whilst they waited.

"S'why I hid m' 'saber," Tuljima replied airily. "An' ye' c'n meditate 'r somethin', I s'ppose," he answered Velos, turning to go back to his ship. He had no intention of walking around Cinnagar City, Jedi or not.
A minute later he came back down the ramp, mounted on a swoop bike. "See y'all!" he cried, gunning the engine and racing off.

Luxa watched as her ally left the perimeter of their landing point. "Good luck!" she whispered, even though no one could hear her.
"It seems we have been given time, something we don't often have Velos." Luxa began to grin. "Allow us to plan ahead. We need to know what we are going to do next. If the 'lost' Jedi are found, we will need to act fast."
"So suppose they were discovered; what would be our next move?" Luxa asked, truly open to any suggestion.

Velos watched Tuljima speed towards on the city on his swoop bike and he sighed. He may not have looked a Jedi but he didn’t look like he planned to be diplomatic about things. Velos knew he should have trusted his partner in this mission but tried not to think about what could happen should Tuljima forget the meaning of diplomacy.
”Time in which we could be getting further from our cause. I agree a good plan is necessary but the longer we delay the more chance we give the lost Jedi a chance to flee again.” Velos said knowing that in reality there was nothing they could do just yet. He sighed and looked around. Was someone else meant to be joining them>
”Well we can’t cause too much uproar in the city or we may have a large black market group assisting them. That would put us at a severe disadvantage. So we have to lure them out the city somehow.” Velos contemplated.

Velos looked at Luxa and leaned his head backwards in thought. If the two Jedi came here for some reason then all they had to do was figure out that reason and create a fake result. That was sure to bring the two Jedi straight to them and if all went successfully it would occur without violence.
”Well maybe we can presume they came here in search of protection with some black markets. If we advertise our own black market maybe they’ll catch wind and seek us out.” Velos suggested unsure of his own idea. His main doubt was that maybe there was something much more sinister occurring here than any of them thought.
He decided to await any response from Luxa.
