Faction: Dark Jedi
Rank: Dark Jedi Master
Bio:
Varloo Edaira was born on the year of 4102 BBY on the planet of Celegia to Barloo and Marloo Edaira. He wouldn't be born and raised like many of the other Celegians, this was due to two different things. Firstly his mother and father both being retired Celegian jedi, this would cause him to be heavily indoctrinated into their beliefs. Secondly he was born with a rare Celegian disorder that caused his tentacles to grow in incredibly small, 3 inches instead of the usual several feet. His parents raised him with his family on Celegia until the age of four, then was sent to the jedi enclave on Dantooine to begin his life as a jedi initiate or youngling.
Being of Celegian decent and training to be a jedi was difficult enough on a oxygen rich world. This was so because Celegians breathe a gas known as Cyanogen, which is as deathly toxic to humans as oxygen is to Celegians. With this condition he would have to be pushed around in a tank of cyanogen everywhere. Not only was this a problem but due to his incredibly tiny tentacles he could not wield a training lightsaber like the other children could. At the age of 5 after one year of training he began to lose hope in his abilities, like any young child with these problems would. It wasn't until a jedi knight by the name of Vazar Lon talked to him and told him that he could be a Jedi master someday too, if he just persevered and looked at what he could do instead of what he couldn't.
This caused Varloo to take another look at his ability and potential, Celegians being nearly 100% brain mass were gifted naturally in the art of telepathy and telekinesis as well as amazing focus. With those abilities he realized that with hard work and determination he could train in the ways of the force alone and become a powerful jedi. The following day he asked the jedi master of the enclave to divert all his lightsaber training to force training as it was obviously a waste of time for him to be their, the jedi master understood and granted him that request.
He would spend the next 5 years training heavily in the force alone, this would elevate him to a level in the force far ahead of the fellow younglings. It was also around this time that he learned how to levitate his pod around with him instead of having to be carried everywhere. His teachers marveled at his grasp of the force at such a young age, but he was not without his disadvantages. He would never be able to wield a lightsaber or even a blaster for that matter and because of this many jedi knights would not take him as their padawans. Luckily the jedi knight that had kept his hopes up before stepped up again and Vazar Lon took Varloo as his apprentice.
As Vazar's padawan Varloo would train harder then he ever had before, this was no problem for him as he loved all the new information that being a padawan granted him. He would spend all day and night reading books, training his force powers and gaining insight into the philosophy of the Jedi. Vazar himself was a jedi Consular and well versed in the force so it was a well match that he was with Varloo. They would train heavily before embarking on any missions, despite Varloo's gift with force powers he still had no weapons and this made it very easy for him to get hurt. Varloo would plead day after day with Vazar to let him go on a mission, but Vazar would not consent. It would be six years before Vazar allowed Varloo to accompany him on missions.
Their first such mission was to an abandoned rogue jedi outpost, their mission was to make sure it was as empty as it appeared. Varloo was 16 at the time and had become incredibly skilled with his force powers, especially in comparison to others his age. He could easily beat the other padawans in a training match, however, he was growing rather arrogant with his powers and this worried his master. Vazar made sure to tell Varloo that pride would lead to a dark place and he would be wise to remain humble. Varloo halfway heard this and instead took it for his master calling him weak, he would seek to prove his master wrong on their upcoming mission.
They set out for the desert planet of Ambria two days after getting their orders. It would be a short flight their from dantooine but Varloo took advantage of the time by training a bit more before arriving. Vazar noticed this and although he was used to Varloo's insane amount of dedication, their was something different about this time, as though Varloo was training to kill. They landed and a sand cloud shot in the air, they would quickly unboard their ship and head for the outpost. The journey went by rather fast as the outpost wasn't far off, but before they could enter, a rogue jedi jumped out from behind a sand dune and engaged his master. Vazar quickly dispatched the jedi as he only appeared to be about 20, however Varloo watched as his master cut the jedi down and a dark joy exploded in him. This was the first instance of blood lust showing up in the jedi padawan and he didn't much notice it, but it would pave the way for many other instances.
They would then enter the outpost and give it a good look over, nothing seemed out of place. Until two more rogue jedi appeared, this time Varloo would have to battle. He engaged the smaller of the two while he master took the larger one, he wanted desperately to prove to his master that he was powerful. He opened with a powerful force push technique, catapulting the rogue jedi into a wall. The jedi struck back with a lightsaber strike, but Varloo managed to use the protection bubble technique and stop the strike. He knew he needed to finish the jedi off and a rage grew in him, from that rage an orange beam erupted from him and began draining the very life from the other jedi. Vazar watched in slight a slight as his apprentice killed the jedi with a force life drain technique. The rogue jedi fell to the floor, lifeless as a stone as Vazar ran to his apprentice.
Vazar praised him for using such a powerful technique and told him that by channeling his emotion he could become a more powerful jedi. He also warned Varloo that the jedi order was not like they were and was weary of such techniques. He told him that he would train him farther in the techniques but he was not to reveal this to the council. Varloo was filled with pride and joy, he was relieved that his master was more open minded in techniques then the other jedi. This mission had set him on his path to darkness, little did he know it yet though, but his master had set in motion a series of events that would guarantee Varloo's fall to darkness. Varloo accepted what his master said and returned home with him, where he continued his training. 10 more years went by, 10 years of grueling training and dangerous missions. But on his 25 birthday his master told him that he was ready for the trials.
His master put it before the Jedi council that Varloo take the trials and become a jedi knight. At first the council was skeptical at allowing one who could not wield a lightsaber attempt the trials. However after a demonstration of his gift with the force and an overview of the many missions he had been on, they agreed that he was of caliber and merit to attempt them. He would be granted a mission one week from then, the jedi council would need the week to deliberate on what that mission would be. He was overzealous with joy, he returned home to his master to tell him of the great news, however his master was nowhere to be found.
Just then he was summoned to the jedi council room yet again, this time for information concerning his master. As it turned out he had been leading a dark jedi rebellion for quite some time and evidence had recently surfaced that connected him fully to it. The jedi council deliberated and told Varloo that this would be his trial, he would have to journey to the rebellion and bring back his master to pay for his crimes. Varloo was crushed to here the news, that he would have to face his former master in combat. But he knew their was no other choice, he immediately gathered his things and set off for the planet he began his dark path on.
He arrived on Ambria the following day and immediately set out towards the outpost, it wasn't far from where he docked the ship. He flew towards the outpost and not to his surprise their were two rogue jedi waiting at the door. However they did not attack, instead they sheathed their sabers and told him that he was expected. They opened the outpost door and lead him to a large desert courtyard where his former master was standing. His master informed him that he had been preparing for this moment for quite some time and that he had hoped the jedi council would send Varloo after him. He offered Varloo the chance to join him, to better grasp the whole spectrum of the force and not just what the jedi council deemed appropriate. He said that by joining forces with him, Varloo would gain more power then he ever would as a jedi. Varloo thought about it for a moment and upon hard thinking discovered what his master said was true.
He told his master that he would join him, but his master told him it wouldn't be that easy. He must prove himself worthy by defeating the dark jedi warriors that stood around him, this way it would simulate the trials of the jedi order and prove he was worthy of being a dark jedi knight. At the word Varloo unleashed several bolts of force lightning, they crackled and erupted from him and killed two of the dark jedi. He then swirled around and unleashed a Spear of midnight black technique against another. One dark jedi remained, he leaped at him with a vicious lightsaber strike, only two be deflected by a protection bubble technique and then shot with a mental force scream.
Blood dripped slowly from the victims ears as he fell to the floor, and Vazar approached him. You have passed the test and now you are a dark jedi knight. Vazar then informed Varloo that as his knight he must follow his every command and do exactly as he says. Varloo now knew that he would not be an apprentice anymore, instead he would be a slave, and he wasn't about to let that happen. He began to force choke Vazar, but Vazar wouldn't go down so easily. Vazar launched him back with a force push, and charged at him with a lightsaber, Varloo recoiling from the push immediately activated his force plague technique on his former master and watched as he began to slowly quiver and shake in pain, then fall to the ground in a ball. Varloo used his Force drain technique and began to absorb his life essence, leaving him just enough to stay alive. Using his force abilities he carried the body back to the ship, and set off for the jedi council.
Upon arrival with his former master, he was granted the rank of Jedi knight and told that he could either begin undertaking missions or take a padawan, he chose to continue doing missions and traveling. He wasn't ready for a padawan yet and knew that the more he traveled and trained the more powerful he could get and the more powerful techniques he could procure. Varloo would gather his equipment and set off for his ship, many missions were in his future.
Far too many to list them all, but over the next 120 years he would complete missions such as assassinations, escorts, diplomatic meetings, commanding forces and training padawans. In fact he would train a total of 3 padawans in all, a chiss, wookie and human. All becoming jedi knights at one point or another, granting him the title of jedi master at the age of 75 and learning how to properly use the breath control technique so he wouldn't need his pod any longer. However once he turned 145 he was offered a seat on the jedi council, he refused due to the attention it may draw to his dark practices. In fact it was at this point that he grew tired of hiding it all together, he knew he had gotten as much as he could get from the jedi order and decided it was time to leave.
He boarded his ship and left for the unknown region, beyond the outer rim. He knew the Jedi's influence on these lands were incredibly small and that he could train here freely without being noticed by another one of the order. A decade later the Jedi civil war began back home, however he was too far out of civilized space to feel the effects of such a thing. Instead he used this time to travel the worlds, to train his force powers, to lead small groups of people to war if they needed a leader, he spent the time bettering himself going to each planet in that region. He's a chronicle of some of the adventures he went on by planet.
Ankus: The first planet he arrived at sat on the border between the outer belt and unknown region, it was called Ankus. He would land here hoping for isolation but what he discovered wasn't so, instead he was face to face with giant elephant like creatures. They were snarling and stomping about, one even launched an attack at Varloo. He quickly retaliated with a strong blast of lightning that decimated the unarmed creature, however when this happened the others attacked. Slow and dim witted they didn't stand a chance in battle and all of the creatures died that day. Not before he could connect with the force wave technique however. You see as they all charged him in a circle, the technique came to him and launched the giant creatures many yards back. He would stay here for a year, in isolation practicing this move he had developed.
Carrivar: The second planet he went to on his conquest of the unknown region. As expected this was a relatively empty planet as most were in the unknown region. However this desolation gave him time to meditate on who he was and where he stood in terms of rejoining the jedi council again. He knew that the jedi wouldn't welcome him back with open arms, but their was always a chance of redemption for someone with his seniority. The true question he had to answer was, if he truly wanted to or not. With the decade he spent on the planet meditating and training, he had come to the conclusion that the Jedi Order was to restrictive for him. He needed something more open, more catering to his destructive urges and more hopeful for change.
Crakull: The third planet he visited, a swamp like world that was home to the croke species. When he arrived here he was strangely plagued with illusions wherever he walked. The odd thing was they weren't jedi illusions, he could feel if they were. They were different as if created by some other means, he would discover the root of this while wandering the swamp. As Varloo navigated through the thick swamp, he came upon a small snail like creature. He picked it up and examined it, as he did this he was barraged with many more illusions. Then it became obvious, it was the snails that were generating these phantasms. He knew that by allowing these illusions to affect him and to immerse himself in them, he would gain a better understanding and immunity to illusions in general. He would spend his decade on this planet being plagued by the croke's illusions, learning how to see through them and growing steadily more immune to them each day. Eventually he would gain the Torture by Chagrin technique through this mastery of mental powers.
Crustai: Number 4 on his planetary exploration, this would be another abandoned world for him to meditate on and learn more about himself. This would be where he confronted the thought of taking a mate, usually by now his species would have found a mate. He however had no urge to find a wife, it would simply interfere in his overall life. However it wasn't as easy as just saying no, he had to learn to deal with the thought of not having offspring, not finding love and dying alone. Most of those were ok with him, but he still wasn't sure if he wanted offspring yet or not. It would give him an advantage to have another former student, especially one that would be as strong as a son or daughter. However he would have to devote time to raising and training one and he believed his padawan training years were far behind him. Over the decade he spent here training and meditating he learned that he would not take a mate, but may simply mate for a child.
Csilla: The fifth planet he would visit and by far the most civilized. This was the home of the Chiss race and was very reminiscent of Coruscant. However he wasn't interested in living in the city and instead chose to live in the forested area's to meditate and train. It was here he met a group of rebels looking to overthrow a local noble that was viciously oppressing them. He took joy in doing this, not for the thought of helping people but because he could cause bloodshed and gain combat practice that he hadn't had since he left Ankus. With his vast commanding experience he would serve as the assistant commander of the rebel force and gain much more leading and military strategy. During the final campaign the where vastly outnumbered and needed something that would give them the edge in combat. Varloo racked his thoughts as to what he could do but nothing came to him, in a moment of serene meditation he finally realized it. By connecting his mind to his troops as well as the opponents he could boost their moral and lower the opponents, the battle meditation technique. He would utilize this in the final campaign and lead the rebel forces to victory, it took a full decade but it was well worth it in the experience he gained. He left the chiss planet with a new understanding of military strategy and the force as a whole.
Kariek: The sixth planet on his galactic journey, this one was the home to the Eickarie. The Eickarie were a dinosaur like tribal people whose vicious disputes made it difficult for Varloo to meditate and train in peace. He decided it would be best for him to take one side in this dispute and help eliminate the other. He spent half of the decade putting his military expertise and combat mastery to help eliminate the opposing tribe. He used the remaining half of the decade to help meditate on what he had done. He took one side in a pointless battle, simply because it would help him. Was that truly wrong though, what right did they have to disturb him. It was then that he decided when he had to choose a faction to join, he would always go with what benefited him the most.
Kilia IV: Planet number seven and home to medieval like society of humans. It was also an incredibly rugged planet and had high mountains and steep roads. He had a choice when he arrived, he could join with the rebelling peasant class or with the tyrannical noble class. He decided that this time he would gather some experience with an empire and with his telepathic jedi abilities he would work as an interrogator for the noble class. He spent a decade torturing and extracting information from peasants about things such as revolt plans, revolution leaders and headquarters location. The utilization of these things over the decade lead to him discovering the Drain Knowledge technique, which made the interrogating that much easier. By the time he left he had become a master of torture and interrogation.
Lehon: The eighth planet, Lehon or otherwise known as Rakata Prime. Obviously this was home to the Rakata people, however this was following the jedi civil war and the planet was in shambles. Ship wreckage littered the streets and riots were a common site, it was chaos. The people themselves however were still genius's of science and machinery. He used the decade he had here to acclimate himself to such chaotic situations, and stressful situations. He would also use it to connect with the people of the planet that still retained their technological prowess and used the time to learn more and more about science and technology. By the time his decade had ended he was a pro at dealing with stress and chaos as well as getting a pretty good hand on science and technology.
Lwhekk: The ninth planet was the Ssi-ruuk home world and very jungle dense. He was used to dealing with reptilian like species by now and fit right in with the species. Their wasn't much separating this empire from the others he had seen until he had seen the process of entechment in action. It fascinated him, the agony it caused and the fact it was a form of power made him that much more interested. He used the knowledge he had gained from the Rakata in technology to help understand how the process and machines work. He spent the decade training his force power and better understand the technology. From the understanding of the pain this process caused combined with his force powers, he discovered the force crush power.
Malagarr: The tenth planet in his journey and a desert planet at that. This red barren planet used to be full of resources until the former inhabitants drained it dry and killed themselves doing it. Now it's just a ball of red sand with a cloud of death around it. Varloo could feel the pain in the force that the extermination of these people caused. It was an overwhelming feeling to have around you, like a cloud of emptiness swirling around you at all times. He would meditate on the pain that this planet had felt for the time he was their. Over the decade he would think hard on the pain that he would cause if he strode away from the path of light. The thought of bringing this feeling of pure emptiness to the rest of the galaxy, actually brought a sick sense of pride to him. It was here that he knew he would have to fully commit himself to causing destruction and death in the galaxy.
Morcanth: Number Eleven on his list was the planet Morcanth. It was enveloped in a dark aura most likely caused from a dark nexus. He would meditate heavily in this dark aura and absorb as much as he could. Varloo would allow this dark energy to enter his body as he breathed it in and out, letting his body adapt and become accustom to the flow of purely dark energy. He would practice his talents with the force heavily here, gaining the ability manipulate this energy. In essence he learned how to control the size of his force signal, and change it to microscopic size. He would learn to master this over the decade he spent on the planet.
Nagi: The Twelfth planet and home to the nagi people, it was a thriving planet and similar to a smugglers moon. It was definitely an adjustment for him, he wasn't used to the backstabbing, thievery and lies that one would encounter on a daily basis in such an environment. He would spend the decade here learning to lie, to adapt and to steal. It would be especially challenging for him to steal as well since he had to do it with the force and not with conventional hands. But he would get the hang of it eventually, by the time the decade had ended he was well versed in lying, cheating and stealing as well as more in touch with the cunning part of the force.
Krizlaw: The Thirteenth planet he would visit was hope to a weird symbiotic creature. You see the species on here survived by joining together to form new creatures, only by working together could they survive. Varloo observed these odd creatures and how their odd symbiotic relationships worked. He would meditate on the thought of what sharing minds would be like, to be conjoined mentally and physically. Varloo tried to imagine the way it would seem with another being in his mind. He then tried to extend this feeling through the force and from that came his discovering of the force power known as force meld. He would spend the decade their
mastering this technique and the best way to implement it.
After 130 years of traveling and at the age of 275 he wanted to find somewhere to put roots down. He had heard from a few travelers that a colony was heading towards the outer rim planet known as Naboo. They would be in need of an adviser to help establish everything, and Varloo was the perfect man for the job. As well as the fact that the hunting was supposed to be perfect, lots of big game animals ripe for the killing. He would spend the next 225 years advising the colonists on how it should be run, helping establish the economy and trade market, as well as using his abilities to help build the buildings. In the mean time he would practice his hunting techniques with the force on the large beasts of the planet.
It was during one of these hunting expeditions that he would fully understand the force camouflage technique. You see he had found himself surrounded by bursa beasts and not having enough energy to defeat them all. In a moment of realization he turned invisible, with the second he had gotten to flee he did and returned back to the colonies. He would spend the remainder of the years to finish establishing the colonies and perfecting his force powers as well as his hunting and sneaking technique. But all things cannot last forever and he eventually became anxious to leave and return to what he knew.
He has recently left the colonies and is searching for Jedi's that are like minded as he is, hoping to find someone in need of a leader or advisor. He is determined to accomplish this and if need be he'll start kidnapping padawans himself, to save them from the restrictive teachings of the jedi.
