Birth place: Middle City, Coruscant

Bio:Roy wasn't one that was poised for greatness. Born in the middle city of Coruscant into a middle class family, there wasn't much to say about his childhood. He did well enough in school, and graduated rather high in his class, receiving much praise from his teachers and various relatives. They expected Roy to do well enough for himself. He was always good at getting people to like him, and he was a good writer. He knew how the world worked even before he left school.
As a young child, Roy was curious on how things worked. Not in a mechanical sense, though. His curiosity lay in how people worked. How systems, government, business functioned. He wanted to know who his teachers reported to, and who they reported to, and what their functions in their system were. He would ask questions as to how people went about their job and why they did it in the ways that they did. Roy would go through regular phases of wanting to do what he did, the job she did, and so on. This curiosity into how people work would serve him well later in life.
When he was entering the preteen phase, Roy grew a little more introverted than he had been than when he was a young child. His relatives weren't sure what to think about his sudden withdraw from socializing, as he hadn't said anything to anyone. It wasn't until Roy got in a nasty fight with a classmate that it was discovered that Roy was being tormented, and Roy couldn't understand why. After a few years, Roy went back to being a social butterfly, but far more cautious and observant about what people are thinking and what they do.
As a teenager, Roy kept up with his studies, and was known to be a smart fellow. He was also a notorious womanizer, going through a number of short-lived relationships. Most were friendly and often platonic, but a few were physical, and occasionally they became trouble. This is where his earliest values and thoughts on relationships and sexuality came to light, which began as rather conservative-date only one girl, no cheating, go slowly, and focus on fun.
In his later teenage years as a student, he began to truly shine. He started racking up awards and offers to attend colleges. He wasn't the top of his class, but landed fairly decently in academics, and received no shortage of praise from his ever-doting relatives. For a time, he lavished in the attention, but deep down, he despised the wide array of choices put before him, and sought a clearer path.
So it was somewhat of a surprise when he decided to join the Army. His decision wasn't opposed, of course, and his transition was rather smooth. At eighteen, he went through boot camp just as an unfathomable number of others had. He was known for being somewhat boisterous, too loud for his own good, but very energetic and ready to do whatever needed to be done. Shortly after Boot, he acquired a girlfriend, with whom he went rather serious with for several years.
During his tenure as a soldier, he was put on duties all over the galaxy, picking up contacts and ideas as he traveled. His long absence also led to his significant other to commit adultery, which he would later find out about. Also during this time, his ideas about sexuality began to form, and how he believed that society was too constrictive about sex, relationships, and general hedonism. He was often scrutinized for his own hedonistic beliefs by his superiors, and occasionally his peers, but he never allowed it to interfere with his duties, and so nothing was done about it.
In between his time in Boot and attending college, Roy was deployed to the Outer Rim. It was here that he displayed that he was a decent shot and a good soldier after taking part in a handful of armed operations. It was also during this time that he started picking up acquaintances around the galaxy, as well as a few one-night stands, one of which would come back to haunt him.
Roy gained favor with a Colonel after an incident on Ordo, when a group of Mandalorians tried to retake it from the Republic. It was here where he not only received a field commission of Sergeant, but saved the Colonel's son after he was injured and pinned down. When the battle was over, and Roy met the Colonel, Roy presented himself as being very well-spoken and intelligent, if a bit cynical. The Colonel brought Roy back to the Inner Rim, slapped the Lieutenant bars on him, and made Roy the man that watered down the news for the press.
After three years as a press liaison, he was discharged for accusations against him for sexual harassment from when he was stationed on the outer rim. It was a Twi'lek dancer that he had offered to take out for the night. Roy had been particularly rowdy that evening by most accounts, and he was dishonorably discharged for his behavior. He grew a bit bitter towards the Republic and institutions in general, and wasn't quite the nice guy he had been after that.
When he returned to his sweetheart at home, she admitted that she had cheated on him. Roy didn't hold it against her, and in fact he understood. She never forgave herself, and despite Roy's forgiving, she dwelt upon it, which alienated Roy, and led to their breakup. It saddened Roy, but he moved on, working at a Coruscant tabloid to make his way, while saving funds to start his own. Roy felt that he would be able to handle his own business, and do something unique, something creative with it. Wanting to save money, he became an amateur photographer, sometimes taking his own shots for his own stories.
Roy's articles became the selling point of the tabloid, and Roy wanted a raise as a result. His bosses didn't cooperate, so Roy respectfully resigned, intent on starting his own project, of which he had saved up several thousand credits. He then made use of the contacts he had made over the years to collect up a sizable investment, most of which came from his mother. With it, Roy bought a ship and a publisher.
For the last year, Roy had been traveling the starlanes, meeting people, seeing places, and taking pictures of both. And often, these places were quite beautiful and breathtaking sites. And these people were often women that were equally so. Quickly, Flyboy Zine became well known for its useful information about people, places, and worlds, but even more notorious for its columns, articles, and pictures of models. It was dismissed by most as smut, but loved by Spacers not just for the girls, but the information contained about trade routes, planets, people, and the like.
Roy kept at it, his enterprise getting large, but still not large enough that he sits in an office. He wrote many of the articles himself, took photos himself. Because Roy liked to go to these places and meet people on normal terms, he often posed as a reporter for something else, only for the articles to show up in Flyboy Zine. Over the last year, he picked up a few tricks about disguising himself.

It wasn't every day that one was invited to a pirate's ship as a reporter. But somehow, Roy had managed it. He had only been doing this for a year, and his company was starting to take off. On Coruscant, he had an office of people making sure that the Zine was printed, published, and distributed through various means throughout the galaxy. While he wasn't getting people lining up to shake his hand, his face and his presence was sometimes recognized enough that it was disturbing to his attempts to report and, of course, find girls to pose for him.
This time, however, the stories and the girls came to him. Well, actually, he was invited and still had to go there, but the thought was the same. Evidently, this articles had led this particular group of pirates to rethink one of their strikes, and they instead made an alternate heist, which proved to be much more profitable. The pinups were also quite popular with the crew.
What was surprising was that Roy was told that the pirate's beloved captain had a daughter that usually remained cooped up in their home base, and she had become fascinated with the idea of being one of the models. So when she expressed this dream to her father, the pirate had Roy's vessel intercepted, stopped, boarded, and the invitation was made. Roy immediately diverted course, wanting to get this scoop and, of course, not anger the pirates.
So, when Roy stepped off his ship, he was pleased to see a small crowd of the pirates, holding their pictures, wanting to get an autograph. Roy was happy to oblige them. While he was signing pictures, he struck up conversations with a number of them, and had many good stories. And when he saw that a surprisingly high number of the pirates were women, an idea formed in his head: An entire issue dedicated to these pirates!
So that's what Roy did, spending two whole days recording their stories, taking their pictures, organizing and editing, proofreading and editing again, and then proofreading some more for good measure. By the time he was done, he had enough material for the special swashbuckler edition. Roy decided, then, that his audience would probably wind up being the scruffy flyboys of the Starlanes.
On his fourth day with the pirates, disaster struck: the Republic Navy, led by a trio of Jedi, launched a counterattack against the pirates, decimating their fleet and landing forces on the planetoid they called home. The pirates, greatly reduced in number, set up defenses in their home base, intent on at least surviving. Roy intended to play his part, and helped with the preparations. After all, he had one of the largest ships in their hangar.
However, their efforts were in vain, as the Jedi-two of whom were women-snuck into the base and shut down several security systems, allowing the Republic soldiers to swarm in virtually unopposed. The pirates were then rounded up and arrested, their ships being towed off and impounded. Knowing the consequences for piracy, Roy didn't have much hope for himself. Even so, seeing those Jedi in action as they quickly subdued the pirates, Roy knew one thing: Those women must be knock-dead gorgeous.
But Roy had been a soldier, and those who knew him know him well. So when it was Roy's turn to be questioned, as soon as the light was upon Roy's face, his interrogator's lit up with surprise.
“Roy? What-How?”
“Hey, Jax,” Roy laughed, “Been a couple years, huh?”
“Yeah. And a lot changed in a couple years, what're you doing with pirates, Roy?”
“I'm a journalist now, Jax,” he replied frankly, “I was being a journalist. All my equipment and recordings will support that. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
“With the wrong people!”
“They, uh, requested that I go along with them if you know what I mean. I can't deny my fans! And after spending four days with them, talking with them, taking pictures of them, I got enough for a special issue. I'd actually like to get back in touch with my publisher about that...”
“Wait a minute,” another Republic soldier interjected-a woman, of course- ”They wouldn't happen to be naked pictures, would they?”
“Why, yes. I was looking for some Flygirls and articles. Why, are you interested in taking the part?”
“Maybe,” she laughed, “Tell you what, Roy. The Republic wants to put the military in a more favorable light. You say you were doing a special issue on those pirates?”
“It was a sporadic decision, to be sure. But, yes.”
“Then we'll let you go if-and only if-you do the same with our crew. The Republic will have their publicity, and you'll have two special issues.”
“Oh, trust me. Once this issue gets released, the military will be put in a very favorable light.”
