Name: Neylo
Race: Miraluka(Near-Human)
Age: 14
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 141 lbs.
Appearance: Neylo is a rather lanky looking individual, given his height and weight. He is a very slender and toned individual. He isn't bulky and muscular like a body builder, instead he is very cut and refined. There are only two scars that are visible on his body. The first is a long slash mark on his right forearm muscle. The second scar is from a large burn that stretches across most of his upper left side. The burn marks are in the shape of a metal grating, like a vent of some sort.
His normal attire, ever since becoming a padawan, is the outfit worn by most jedi. It consists of brown boots with matching brown cloth pants. A knee-length, white long-sleeve vest with a brown sash tied at the waist. And to top it all off, the brown robe complete with a hood.
Because of Miraluka customs, he wears a cloth band around his head to cover his eye sockets. Since becoming a padawan, he has been given a blue one to match his original lightsaber.
Birth place: Coruscant, Slums
Faction: Jedi Order
Rank: Padawan
Bio: A month over twelve years ago, in a small, one room apartment in the slums of Coruscant, a boy was born. With solid white eyes and no pictoral vision he was of the same bloodline as his parents, both of whom were Miraluka.
The first few years of the boy's life were very difficult. He barely had any formal teachings and, since a third member was added to the household, finances became even tighter. He didn't mean to, but Neylo had caused his family even more stress and problems.
By the time he was five years old, Neylo had been incorporated into the family business of odd jobs. Although he couldn't help much since he was young, he did help a little, and his parents were glad for that small amount of help.
One of the notable jobs that the family was paid to do was to clean the inside of some steam vents for a sauna. Since this particular sauna was meant to hold over one hundred people, the vents were rather large. Large enough for all three of them to fit inside, in fact. While inside the vent, it accidentally got turned on, causing the temperature to rise drastically. This massive increase in heat caused an already exhausted Neylo to pass out standing. As he fell forward, unconscious, his left side was burned badly by the shear heat of the metal vent. Despite the fact that his family got paid double for the mishap, it didn't really help since medical bills were far more expensive than the meager fee that they'd been paid for cleaning those steam vents.
With the low quality health care that his family could afford, it took nearly three months for Neylo's burn wounds to heal, so the finances took another hit during that time since Neylo couldn't work.
Less than a weak after his recuperation and recovery from the burn wounds, Neylo's home was robbed. In the process of the robbing, his arm was cut when he tried to resist. With things seemingly getting worse and worse as time went on, his parents made a decision. Three weeks after their house had been robbed, Neylo's mother and father took him on a shuttle to the main part of the city. They left him at an orphanage there, knowing that he would have a better life there. A life that they couldn't give him.
Neither Neylo nor his parents could easily part with one another, but it happened anyway for Neylo's own good. This mental stress and trauma made Neylo cat very different from his normal self. He constantly wandered away from the orphanage. He didn't really run away, he just left without permission. He was trying to find a way back to his parents. All of his attempts failed, too.
He made one last attempt on the day after his sixth birthday. As he ran through the streets wildly, trying to make it to the market so he could lose his pursuers, he ran into someone.... It was an odd looking man in a gray cloak. When Neylo bumped into him, he(Neylo) fell over. The man turned to Neylo and, as he pulled his hood back to reveal his face, extended his hand to help him up.
The man was rather tall, around 6'3" and looked to be about 200 lbs. He had slightly pale skin and green eyes. His sandy blonde hair was cut very short, barely reaching the top of his ears.
Neylo felt the force within the man and it nearly overwhelmed him. Being a Miraluka meant that he relied on the force to know his surroundings, and because of that he was able to feel the great power that was held within the man. He was frozen for a moment, but, after he realized what had just happened, he took the man's hand and stood up. Neylo thanked the man for helping him and apologized for running into him. The man only smiled and nodded.
When the head mistress of the orphanage finally caught up with Neylo, he was being helped up by the man and she rushed over. After he had apologized, she grabbed his ear and started dragging him away. The man told her to cease. He requested that Neylo be brought with him. He told the mistress that a boy with such ties to the force should be taught in its ways, and because of some involvement from the force, she did not deny his request.
From that day on, Neylo's life as an orphan was finished and his life as a youngling in the Jedi Temple began. He couldn't have been happier. His first thoughts were, What would mom and dad think if they saw me now? I'm gonna be a Jedi!
He trained with the other younglings within the confines of the temple until shortly after his eleventh birthday. By that time, a few of the masters and a couple of knights who had seen his skills thought him ready for the ascension to padawan. When he was assigned a master and given orders to find the components for his own lightsaber, Neylo was overjoyed.
To Neylo's surprise, the one who he was to call master turned out to be the same person who brought him to the temple. It was the man from that day in the city when he'd wandered away from the orphanage. The same one. He wasn't disappointed or unhappy, though, since this man had saved him from a terrible fate. He felt he owed him a debt of gratitude. Because of this, Neylo gladly called this man his master and teacher.
After having gathered the necessary parts and making the trek to Ilum, Neylo finished and assembled his first Lightsaber. It was ocean blue and had very intricate designs on the lower end of the handle. It was then that the real work began.
Even as a padawan, Neylo had to undertake numerous mundane (Well, not really mundane, but they were to him, at least, since in his mind he'd made a step above who he use to be) tasks. Most of the missions he was assigned to do during the first two years of his time as a padawan were mediocre in his opinion and boring. Everything from escorting local politicians through the slums of the city to securing some stolen cargo. Even though a lot of the missions were off planet, even retrieving stolen goods from some small time thieves on another planet began to lose its luster to Neylo after the third time.
In the end of his second year, they had ran out of missions that they thought were safe for someone of his skill to go on. Due to this, he was sent into incredibly intense training sessions with his master for the next six months in order to prepare him so that he could actually go on such missions.
His master, Kodin Makthos, was skilled in nearly all lightsaber forms, and he wasn't very fond of Shii-Cho, so he taught Neylo the basics and a few advanced moves from the Soresu and Ataru forms. He hoped that this would improve his apprentice's offensive and defensive capabilities equally. It would also allow him to change his fighting style drastically, which could throw off his opponent if done at the right moment, giving him the upper hand.
Crunch time. Training having been completed and mission time at hand, it was now the job of Neylo and his master to help in the escort of the senator from Naboo back to his home planet. Since the senator was a rather well-known politician and this escort mission would take some time, Neylo was sure that this mission was a serious one. After all, the reason for requiring a Jedi escort was because of certain threats that had been made on the senator's life. Although Kodin disapproved of the reasons for Neylo's excitement, he was glad to see his apprentice in such high spirits.
Unfortunately, the mission wouldn't go quite as planned. upon arrival on Naboo, an ambush had been set up and a battle was inevitable. To make matters worse, the sith were involved. Amidst the clashing of the small republic force and this unnamed ambush, a sith apprentice joined the fray.
Kodin and Neylo both had to focus on the sith, so that the other soldiers could secure the perimeter and keep the senator safe. As they fought, it was clear that Neylo was of no help to his master. This particular sith was too skilled for someone like Neylo to fight. He had been purposely attacking Neylo, knowing that his defenses weren't strong enough to stop such attacks. Because of this, Kodin had to save Neylo on one too many occasions. The last time he stepped in the way to save Neylo, he wasn't quick enough to defend himself and Neylo at the same time, and the sith's saber went straight through his stomach.
Neylo was very lucky on that day. When the sith had taken the time to complete the attack on his master, Neylo was able to catch the fiend off guard and delimb him completely. He was a mere torso and head, all in one motion. Neylo's tears of anger and sadness fell upon his master's chest as he lay on the ground. Before he passed away, Kodin spoke these words to Neylo, "Do not take the path of revenge, my student, for it will betray you. May the force be with you, my young padawan."
With his mission complete, Neylo returned to the temple alone. The cost of the mission was too great. It cost Neylo the best friend he'd ever had, and the one person who had given him hope. It also cost Neylo his self-confidence and his pride. He lost his master because he couldn't protect himself, so Kodin had to sacrifice himself to save Neylo.......
Neylo has yet to be assigned a new master. It has been almost a month since his return, and still he only sits in one of the chambers of the temple, meditating on what he should do.

Neylo sat in the room, alone. It was a place within the temple where many went to meditate in solitude, and no one bothered another when they were inside. He was meditating, just as he always did when he needed to think and focus. This time was different, though. This time he was contemplating the very existence that he thought was so great.
I thought becoming a Jedi would be the best thing ever, but so far it's cost me the only person I ever thought was my friend. The only person who showed me kindness besides my mother and father.....and...it's my fault that he's gone. Why? What did I do wrong? Was it inevitable? Was it what he wanted? I keep asking.....but I never find an answer.....is it really my fault? Yes.....I know that answer.....it is..... If I weren't so weak. If I'd have fought better.....he'd still be around.
Just then, someone walked in the room with Neylo and sat down beside him. It was Jedi Master Kreig. "Why do you doubt yourself, padawan? Your master did not teach you to do that. I know. I was his master when he was a padawan. I can tell you that Kodin does not blame you, Neylo. You shouldn't blame yourself. You did not put a saber through his stomach, Neylo. That was the work of the dark side. I know you will understand fully in time. For now, remember who you are. Don't let your doubts change what you think about yourself."
Master Kreig stood up and walked out silently, leaving Neylo to ponder his words. Neylo had almost burst into tears when he heard what Kreig had to say and the things weighing on his mind continued to get heavier and heavier. Is Master Kreig right? Is it really not my fault? I.....I don't know. I want to believe Master Kreig, but....I can't help but feel that it was partially my fault....
