appearance
His clothes resemble that of a ship engineer, and he always carries a blaster with him beneath the cloak he wears. In his right hand, is a signet ring with the crest of Alderaan.
History:
Born into a family of scholars on the year 3637 BBY on the capital of Aldera, Bek was expected to carry on in the ways of his father, a famous teacher at Alderaan, and advisor to senators in the Core World. His mother was a ship engineer, and was often called to different planets near the Core to inspect the ships being developed. Bek would often travel form planet to planet, since his mother’s job called for them to continue moving. His father would keep working as an advisor to Senator on the planet Bek’s family would stay on. Growing up, Bek would sometimes leave friends behind as he moved from place to place. As Bek grew up, he would go with either one of his parents, and he learned much of ships and of politics. He would watch as his father would sway his subordinates into doing something he was supposed to do himself.
At age 18, when they traveled to Coruscant, he chose to enroll in the Republic Army, as he started to feel stifled with the life he was living with his family. And mainly, his father and the Senator he worked with were killed in what looked like an accident in their airspeeder. This forced Bek into not taking a path in politics…for now. Deciding he had to try his fortunes somewhere else, he left, also not taking a job as a ship engineer like his mother. On the year 3619 BBY, Bek Garul officially enrolled in the army.
Enrolling in the Army, he was sent to the Academy on Carida. He received training in Rocket- Jumping, flying, close quarter combat and rifle and blaster training. During a training session, he received a wound on his leg by taking a blast to it, as the shield he was given went faulty. Somehow, Bek managed to complete the session with no casualties. He still managed to continue, thanks to surgical restoring using nanotechnology.
At age 19, he was relegated to bodyguard status to Senators of the Republic. At the time, there weren’t any skirmishes or wars, but things were beginning to be tense, so he was pretty much sent to work anywhere. His superiors felt that a man of his skills could do more protecting Senators, in other words: some felt threatened by him because of his ability with words. Sergeant Bek Garul was stuck serving the Senate, like his father was before him. Often, he would reassign himself back and forth from Senator to Senator, having protected 5 of them in 3 months. If there was one thing he learned, it was this: He could do better than them all.
He could serve better.
The following months were rather uneventful, until he uncovered that his newest assignment, a Senator from Corellia, was being involved in illegal arms running. He took it upon himself to expose the whole thing, and it all ended on a bad note: the senator was deposed, and Bek was threatened by mercenaries; the ones that did deal with the last senator he guarded and he had to leave, but took the entire records he had, holovids and written with him. So he left back home, and he enrolled in the Unviersity at Alderaan at age 20.
He was going to do better than those other Senators.
In the year 3620 BBY, Bek enrolled at the University at Alderaan, and he was immediately subjected to observing Senate meetings, and study their movements, their words, and he was to create his platform, agenda and image as a Senator. Bek did this diligently, and observed that some of the Senators would often backtrack on what they spoke on their election platform. He could do this easily, but he noticed one other thing: some of them would look shifty, almost skittish.
They were scared of something.
What was happening around here?
He continued to study politics from age 20 until age 25, and those times he spent in the University, he continued to notice the same pattern over and over: none of those Senators he was sent to observe had no substance. Once he graduated, he visited Coruscant to pay a visit to his mother, now retired and living her days close to the Republic Navy. After a long conversation, his mother convinced him to make a run for the Senate. Bek agreed and he left for the only place he could even have a chance as a Senator: Alderaan.
Once he arrived, he quickly started to work on his image: an ex-military who wants to serve the Republic and the planet of Alderaan. He stated his intention to run for office and he did something that was unexpected by everyone: he gave away his entire background. Why would he have something to hide? For a smart move, he decided not to reveal any of his family’s whereabouts; Bek knew this wouldn’t end right if he did. He was praised for his record in the military and his service as a bodyguard. On the other hand, he was criticized by his detractors from other parties because of his relatively new inexperience.
Of course, he lost those elections because of him being considered as green and not experienced enough to take on the role of a Senator, but was offered a position as liaison between Alderaan and Corellia. He would often report to the Senator at the time, and he would continue his studies on how to gain power in the Senate.
Bek took to his job dutifully, and for the following term, he continued relations between the two planets. One day as he was about to leave to report to the Alderaanian Senator in Coruscant, the air speeder exploded. Thankfully, no one was in it. Bek took it personally, and once his term ended…he disappeared. He knew what happened, and hopefully, he would get this over. Those mercenaries had taken to following him, and now that he had foolishly released his entire background, they knew what he was capable of. At age 28, he finished serving his term and left Alderaan for a while.
That same year, Bek Garul had left for Telos, knowing full well where they were and hoping they were foolish enough to still be there. Unfortunately, they weren’t, but the people at the planet were familiar. One of them spoke of the mercenaries being taken by republic troopers and Jedi after his attempt at being assassinated. Disillusioned but grateful it was over, Bek left for Alderaan. He felt he was finally ready to make a run at the senate.
Unfortunately, he was forced to wait until election time. Until that time, Bek started to gather sympathizers to help him reach the spot at the Senate. He appealed to people due to the current Senator being intimidated by the current affairs. Bek traveled to Coruscant and had a meeting with the last Senator that served. Senator Kail told Bek that he was about to retire. The life of a Senator was too much for him, and because of current affairs, he felt afraid of retiring.
So they reached a deal. Bek wanted the seat, and the Senator wanted to leave. His predecessor felt that his life as a Senator was beginning to end. He felt that…current events were too much for him to handle. In other words, he was afraid.
Once the terms were up and election time came around, Bek won by a landslide. At age 30, Bek Garul won the elections, partly because the former Senator ordered his supporters to rally behind Bek, and no one else could run against him. They felt as if he knew too much about things…their things. And now, Bek was finally a Senator, something no one in his family achieved.
In the year 3602, Bek Garul achieved power in the senate, only to continue witnessing the events unfold right in front of him. Dantooine was taken by the Sith, and The Republic was stuck between a rock and a hard place. They were facing a dead end, and they knew it. Bek remained staunch, believing that the republic can pull through this.

As the celebrations occurred, a man stood in his room. The elections were over, and he was elected Senator of Alderaan. He sat looking at the outside. The celebrations occurred. He felt that he finally gained the power that he deserved. He did not go after the job that was beset by his parents, and struck out on his own in the galaxy. He must not let it get to him. Not now. He typed in something on his holovid, and he heard the door slide open. Instinctively, he reached into his blaster, only to find that a bodyguard was standing there. “Senator, they are expecting you.” Bek nodded curtly, and the senator stood outside the door once again. He stood up, and reached for his cloak. He had to put Alderaan back as a powerful entity. It has remained in the back for too long. He walked out, taking the holovid he had with him, and left.
It was time.
After a short walk, and a long session of thought, Senator Garul arrived to a patio, a guardrail surrounding it, overlooking the outside and being cheered by those who voted him in. Bek held his hands up, a ring clearly seen on his right ring finger. “Alderaan! It is my time to speak. Let me speak my mind, and let me voice yours.” The people cheered once again. The sight that was going on was magnificent. He remained quiet, and he held up a holovid. “This holovid was something I have written beforehand. This holovid was something that I had planned to speak.” He set the holovid on the handrail that he was in front of himself. “I will not look at it.” There was silence, the people listening to the now Senator intently. “I will speak my mind! This day is not the time for planned words, and scripts! It is not the time for holovids that merely contain a message; spoken apathetically. This day is the day I speak my mind! This day, you will know my true intentions!” The people remained quiet, yet this did not stop Bek.
“Times are uneasy. Alliances are broken. The Republic has been forced into a position where we cannot go back to the way things were! Whispers alone send fear into us! Today, I reply to them all with just two words: Never again!” He had expressed this part a little louder, to the cheers of the crowd. “Never again shall we be moved by those who wish to harm us. We are a nation of logic! A nation of untapped potential! We are the home to some of the most brilliant minds the galaxy has seen. The Republic has been broken. This is the truth. We cannot go back now. Today we stand undeterred! We are stalwarts of The Republic! Alderaan is the voice of reason of The Galactic Senate! We stand fearless against any and all who wish to oppose us. I will vow on the blood that runs through me, that I, son of Alderaan, shall aid any planet that needs our help! Let us remember that while we are a planet, we are also The Republic! One of its anchors! No longer must we sit in apathy as this conflict nears out home! Alderaan! Let us stand fearless!” the crowd cheered, only a few remaining quiet. Bek walked out of the patio, handing the holovid to one of the bodyguards. Curious, the bodyguard turned it on only to reveal the words. ‘truer are the words spoken, and not written’.
