Name: Zeale Syn
Race: Near Human (Half-Kiffar/ Half-Human)
Age: 37
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 143
Appearance:
Birth place: Serrocco
Faction: Jedi
Rank: Master/High Council Member
Bio: She was born just outside of Serrocco’s gravity pull on a simple freighter. She was raised on Serrocco with only her Human mother to rely on until the age of four. It was at this point in young Zeale’s life that a Jedi Knight by the name of Lyndel. Lyndel arrived at the planet and met with the young Zeale. Lyndel immediately noted that the young girl carried the presence of her father. When Zeale pressed for the information regarding his father she told the story behind his tale. Her father was a Jedi Knight by the name of Toma Syn. He had accomplished many great things for the order and proved himself time and time again a true warrior of the light. Nevertheless Toma eventually succumbed to his heart when he met his future wife and fell deeply in love with her. Just as the Jedi Order states romantic relationships are fraught with emotions, Toma’s in particular were of misplaced fear from being discovered by the council. He was able to keep his love secret from the Order for three whole years, in this time his wife had become pregnant with Zeale. Knowing that he could not properly hide a child that would inherently be strong in the force from the Order he fled with his wife as far as he could get. Toma was determined to leave the Order behind and seek out a healthy life for his wife and soon to be born child. After that Lyndel did not know more, but she was certain that Toma knew the force would be strong with his child and that would draw the Order to her. Based on these assumptions she concluded that Toma had resolved to leave his wife and child with an adequate amount of money for living and then left his wife to live with his daughter until his crime was brought to light. At this point in Lyndel’s theories Zeale’s mother appeared to fill in the blanks. Toma had actually stayed with her and Zeale for the first year of Zeale’s life, before she could get a hold of her memories. He left his wife and Zeale on Zeale’s very first birthday.
Now with knowledge of her heritage Lyndel offered Zeale the chance to become a Jedi much like her father. Zeale accepted, eager to get as close to her father as she possibly could. Zeale’s mother let her child go since, like Lyndel theorized, Toma knew that Zeale would be found by the Jedi and had instructed her to let Zeale go. Lyndel took Zeale away from Serrocco and moved her to Dantooine where she would start her training as a Jedi. Zeale was immediately noticed as a great potential Jedi, having the added benefit of a Jedi father. Her ability to use the force could not be matched by her peers at any level. This alone earned some envy of her classmates. As a result she proceeded through her early years of Jedi Training without friends. She stayed close to herself and concentrated on improving herself at the pace the masters had set for her. At the age of 10 Lyndel felt it would be a good time to officially take Zeale as her Padawan and, after making the transition official, Lyndel moved Zeale to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Here Zeale managed to meet peers that would adequately test and improve her skills in a positive fashion. On Coruscant she made a few close friends and was able to grow as a Jedi.
On one assignment Zeale found herself on Ciran, the capital city of Cirrus. On this particular assignment she was not with her master Lyndel rather a fellow Padawan who went by the name of Xavier Kay. Xavier Kay was the young and brash type that often held potential for greatness. The two had become good friends since Zeale’s arrival at the Jedi Temple. This mission on Ciran had them dealing with group of Terrorists. These terrorists were actually young Mandalorians who had managed to escape the harsh cruelties that the Mandalorians were suffering as a result of the failed conquest. Enraged over the crimes against them due to mistakes of their forefathers they took a number of politicians hostage and were making demands that involved them escaping on a ship they could call their own. Zeale and Xavier were to try and reach an agreement with the terrorists and get the release of the prisoners. Upon arrival at the location of the negotiations the terrorists were already armed to the teeth waiting for a reason to cut the Jedi down. Xavier initially went to meet their aggression with his lightsaber but Zeale checked him and they proceeded with the negotiations. It became blatantly obvious that the terrorists were not willing to budge from their current position in the situation. Not willing to back down in the face of this stubborn opposition Zeale continued to voice her points and opinions. Initially the terrorists were hoping these negotiations would be ended once they showed their inability to budge from their demands, but they had underestimated the Jedi in front of them. Now tired of Zeale’s stubbornness one of the terrorists fired upon the adamant Padawan. Xavier came to the rescue with his lightsaber and the terrorists took this as a sign that the negotiations were over and opened fire. The two Padawans proved to be more than a match for the rookie Mandalorians who knew nothing of their warrior heritage and customs. Zeale and Xavier were able to save a few of the terrorists’ lives but not all. At the end of the altercation only 4 of the 20 terrorists survived to be put on trial. After the two Padawans returned to the Temple and reported to their masters both of them felt it was time for the two to become more than mere Padawans. Zeale was 16 years old when she became a Jedi Knight.
After becoming a Knight Zeale took on a number of missions ranging from locating important people to stopping roaming bandits. As an ideal Jedi she approached every situation with violence as the last option and always letting the force guide her actions. She still received small lessons from Lyndel and other masters from the order so as to continually broaden her horizons. When Zeale was at the age of 26 her old master suggested that she take up a Padawan. Zeale eagerly agreed, wanting to impart her experiences as a Jedi onto someone else. Zeale decided she would choose her Padawan from the Enclave on Dantooine, the same place from which she came. When she arrived there she met a young boy at the age of 10 and he was in much the same situation as she was, albeit slightly different circumstances. This young boy’s name was Adrian Yoley. The teachers at the enclave said that he possessed a very “dangerous” ability that allowed him to strike up connections through the force with other people whether they are force sensitive or not. This ability was instinctual and therefore it was a dangerous asset for the boy to have. This ability forced Adrian to be shunned by most of the students for fear of his power. Zeale sympathized with the boy and would always refer to Adrian Yoley’s ability as “special” and not dangerous. She agreed to take him on as a Padawan and, much like Lyndel did for her, relocated him to Coruscant. There she imparted all of her knowledge onto the young Padawan and taught him well in the ways of the force. During her trials with the young Adrian Zeale was promoted to the rank of Jedi Master, she was 30 at the time.
Just after being promoted to Jedi Master she was asked by her old master, Lyndel, to assist her on a mission. Lyndel was now a member of the High Council on Coruscant and they had received a request from the Republic to assist a Republic Commando unit in striking a Mandalorian Mercenary camp due to recent developments. The mercenaries were planning to take Shogun in a attempt to reestablish some Mandalorian presence. For Zeale it would be the first battle on this scale and against opponents that were just as lethal as Jedi. Lyndel requested that Zeale take Adrian with her as it would be a good opportunity for Adrian to learn to control his abilities when he is mentally pressured. The trio departed from Coruscant and met the strike team they would be in charge of near Shogun. The strike team was split into two, one unit would be led by High Councilor Lyndel and the other unit would be led by Zeale and Adrian. It had been decided that Lyndel would take the brunt of the Mandalorian force with her half and distract their attention while Zeale and Adrian moved in and apprehended the leader of the mercenaries.
Immediately after entering the Mandalorian camp they were hit with hard resistance. Fortunately Zeale’s extensive training allowed her to protect herself and the rest of her unit from the surprise attacks and traps as they progressed to their target. Eventually Lyndel’s unit and Zeale’s unit converged deciding to use a combined attack to end the skirmish; with this in mind they confronted the mercenary leader. It was at this point that disaster struck. The mercenary leader had laid a well designed trap that put a great deal of pressure on the three Jedi and their strike team. The ensuing trap placed Adrian under such duress that his control over his latent ability dissipated. As a result Adrian stuck force connections with all members present in an instant and he destroyed many minds in the process. Adrian himself was left in a comatose state as the bodies of dead or severely injured commandos and mercenaries were scattered around the room. Zeale was able to guard herself from the fierce effects of Adrian’s ability to some extent. The Jedi Master was still left incredibly weakened. Still Zeale tried to assess the situation and immediately realized that her master had taken the full brunt of Adrian’s ability, most likely due to the fact that she hadn’t had ample experience with the power. Zeale collected up the survivors and made her way to the closest Republic outpost. From there she was able to give her report to the council and tell them the status of Adrian.
The High Council was very impressed with the way that Zeale handled the radical situation. She took calm and collected steps in assessing the situation and returning to the Republic outpost. She also displayed a genuine caring for the death of her master as well as the Republic and Mandalorian people who died in the exchange. Most of all she was a bit remorseful about not being able to stop Adrian’s outburst, but not to the point where the emotion was dangerous to any extent. The High Council convened and offered Zeale the position of her late master. She accepted, but noted that she would have like to achieve the honor on a more joyous occasion. With that Zeale became one of the newest members of the High Council.

Karn snickered, “Ah so they’re so scared they sent Jedi?”
Zeale noticed how quickly this Karn character was able to rile up those people around him. They were already whooping as if a Jedi appearing before them was a good sign. “Well I don’t think I would refer to it as scared. Rather the Republic knows that at the very least Mandalorians respect Jedi seeing as the current Order descends from the Exile’s teachings.”
“Oh you think I “respect” Jedi for just letting us suffer for years because we lost a war. It has been a living hell, and all you Jedi do is turn a blind eye to our suffering. You don’t even have the decency to keep an eye on us. It’s as if you have said you no longer respect us as we once respected you.” Karn’s words came out as sharp as a blade. “Tell me why I shouldn’t tell my men to cut you down where you stand.” On Karn’s words the terrorists surrounding him raised their rifles towards the two Jedi.
Xavier reached for his lightsaber “I’ll show you-“
Zeale only offered her partner one word, “Xavier…” It was enough for her fellow Padawan to remember himself and return to a non-aggressive posture. “Well If you were to cut down Jedi the image you are trying to build will be destroyed. There is no way anyone would believe you are anything more than beasts if you cut us down, especially when we are trying our best not to provoke you. In fact we are trying to do the exact opposite.”
“Tch…” Karn raised his hand signaling for his comrades to put their guns down. They complied, albeit some did so grudgingly. “So I am assuming you came here to negotiate?”
“Well yes and no, I would like to tell you that if you release the politicians now you will save face. So much face that I could say that you would get the sympathy from others who feel Mandalorian punishment is too harsh. With that on your side you may be able to escape an official conviction altogether. Unfortunately if you try to pursue this current path it will surely lead to your destruction.” Zeale made sure her words were flat and cold. She felt that if there was a slight hint of intimidation the Mandalorians would pick it up, but at the same time it wouldn’t be so much as to insult the proud warrior people.
“What do you mean ‘our destruction’?” Karn showed intrigue in the young Padawan’s words.
“Well, if you try to pursue your demands you will undoubtedly leave yourselves open to a number of possible attempts on your lives. From sabotaging your ship to simply creating a stealth blockade of ships to bar you just before you can escape. The Republic will definitely consider going to these extremes to ‘prevent the dreaded Mandalorian threat’ since that is the image you are portraying.” Again Zeale was trying to subtly intimidate these terrorists as they weren’t full Mandalorians or they would never have started such a bargaining process in the first place. If what Zeale had heard about the Mandalorians were true they would have just stole a ship outright. She could only assume these people were not well versed in the Mandalorian code, most likely a result of the cruelties they have suffered over the years.
“Look these men aren’t going to see reason. They know their stance and just choose to be obstinate. It is not failure if we genuinely tried Zeale. Let’s leave them be and deliver our report to our masters.”
“No, if we leave them now I am certain all of them will be dead by week’s end.” With this in mind Zeale pressed her points trying to get the terrorists to see the folly in their ways and give up without a struggle.
Karn’s second in command, Drez, finally snapped. Deciding that he had had his share of Jedi preaching for one day he aimed his rifle and fired upon Zeale. “I think everyone is tired of looking at you. If you won’t leave of your own will we’ll just have to make you.”
Before the blaster bolt could find its mark Xavier stepped in and, with a wave of his lightsaber, sent the bolt harmlessly away. “So you would resort to this path? There is no turning back once on it. I urge you to consider my friend’s words one last time.”
“Yeah I think I’ll pass on trying to process that Jedi’s words again.” This time it was Karn who spoke up. With his rejection it was clear that the matter could not be settled in a peaceful manner. Karn ordered his comrades to fire with a wave of his hand. What ensued was a desperate attempt on the Jedi’s part to preserve their own life.
“Well we have more than failed Zeale. Unfortunately we cannot end this in any manner that you would like.” Xavier threw his lightsaber towards the terrorists. Zeale moved, instinctually, in front and protected Xavier from harm while he was weaponless. Xavier’s lightsaber cut through a couple terrorists before returning to his hand.
“No!” Zeale voice caught Xavier’s attention, as intended. “Despite our differences we cannot resort to simply killing them using ‘self-defense’ as a ticket to do as we will. If we must fight them we shall save as many lives as possible.” With her objective set Zeale held out her hand and attempted to throw heavy boxes at her adversaries using the force.
