From the very beginning of life, Akel had been different. At the age of six, strange things began to happen, dead plants were filled with life, plants were greener, grew faster, and seeds began to grow sooner. His parents were afraid of his unusual power, they soon left him out on the cold streets. That’s when, at the age of six, his true power emerged. The next day his parents were found half dead with there house covered in vines, no one every believed a word they said, they said there soon was a demon and he did this to them.
No one seemed to notice that where ever the boy went, plants were healthy; soon a farmer noticed this and took Akel on under his wing. The farmer had crops even during the winter, the farmer was full and fat, while Akel was still rotting away. Akel was happy there, he was fed for the first time after two weeks of being with the farmer, after that he found out how to, instead of doubling the rate at which a plant grows, he found a way to do it near instantly. By this time he was twelve, and even thinner then ever.
Soon the crops began to look queer; they were becoming carnivorous, the farmer disappeared soon after that. Akel left this strange home in hope of finding a new one, it was years later before a man with a black coat tried to take him in, but when he tried to get Akel to kidnap, that’s when Akel fought back, the law enforcement found him hanging at there front door the next day, they sent him to a crazy house.
Akel decided soon after that to move to the wilderness, he could make his home in a tree, he had plenty of fruit, and other such plant byproducts, but after three years of lack of communication, he began to go a little stir-crazy. By the time he was fifteen, he carried seeds in his pockets as a form of self defense, not many messed with him because he was big for his age. But those that did, were found wrapped inn vines and talking non-sense.
He ignored the smell of burning flesh when he passed an alley; he never even gave the boys a second glance. Walking on, he was trying to find a new home, his tree had been cut down, and he looked sickly because of the greenish tint to his skin. Spotting a small tree in-between two houses, he decided to com back at nightfall and make this tree his new home. Marking it's location in his mind; he walked back down and stopped in front of the alley.
Entering the alley, he found bur marks in strange shapes scattered around the back alley. Taking of his hat, he reveled white hair, when a ray of sunlight hit his hair, his hair began to turn green. Stepping into a puddle, his entire body began to grow greener; putting his hat back on, the effects of photosynthesis began to fade into the past. Wandering aimlessly through the city, he looked for sick plants to heal.
Akel could feel his skin turning from green to brow as it began to tighten, it was becoming like the bark on a tree. He turned around and decided top head north, to where his house used to be located. To the location he no longer remembered. HE cold feel his skin cracking and growing nubby warts on the fingers.
Wandering around this rundown section of town, he got weird stares from people that were peeking around corners. He could hear slow sad music coming down the street. He heard the creak of wagon wheels, the slow clip-clop of horse hooves, and a sad march as a funeral procession passed by, taking in a breath, his stomach stopped rumbling.
As he exhaled oxygen, he watched as faces that panged his memory, bowed there heads. Shaking his head, he threw some Ivy seeds onto the passing carriage, making them grow like decorations, the sprouted blue and red flowers, Wrapping around the coffin, they formed the shape of a word, rest.
After the sad procession passed by, he noticed flowers began to wilt as the music got to him, rushing from the area as he felt there pain, he breathed heavily. Sighing as the music faded, he wandered in search of a store that sold clothing. He found he relied less on food, and more on the sun, water and air.
