Name: Boben Wambek
Race: Ortolan
Age: 24
Height: 4 feet 5 inches
Weight: 130 lbs
Appearance: Like some other alien races, every Ortolan alien look very similar to each other. But Boben is much easier to pick out than any of his other Ortolan brethren. He has a blue skin color which is incredibly darker than most others of his race. His eyes are pitch black, his nose is shorter and much thicker than others, his body has a round heavy shape look to it, and his ears are extremely shorter than the usual Ortolan. Among all of these different characteristics, the most noticeable thing about him (that makes him stand out in a crowd of Ortolan) is a set of tatoos resting on his forehead and making their way down the back of his neck, arms and shoulders. The tatoo color is a very light baby blue color, resembling ancient Ortolan symbols that are meant to give him strength and bravery.
Birth place: Orto
Faction: Jedi
Rank: Jedi Knight- Consulor
Bio: Boben was born in a rich Ortolan family who was greatly known all throughout their home planet of Orto. Doran and Ganya Wambek have always been talented musicians. Their musical talents gave them renown and credits as they played together over the years. But all of this was put on hold when Boben was born. They had a great responsibility now that would need their full attention. But they had made such good progress with their career as musicians that they wouldn’t need to play a single note ever again, they had all the money they needed for many, many years. But, of course, ever since Boben turned two years old, his parents drowned him with music almost every day (music is one of the Ortolan's favorite hobbies).
It was when Boben turned four years old that his parents were starting to notice something very strange about their son. He was not incredibly strong physically, like his father, but he had mental gifts that everyone around him noticed. He was able to predict things before they would happen, and he always caught on quick to anything that he was being taught. He sometimes was even able to see accidents happen to fellow Ortolans, and Doran was acting upon them. Over time people began to grow very curious as to how Doran was able to sniff an accident just waiting to happen, he never told them it was all because of his son.
About a month before Boben’s sixth birthday, Orto received very strange human visitors, cloaked in brown robes. There were four of them and they were all humans who had accidentally crash landed on the cold planet. Doran took them in and sheltered them from the blizzards outside that smashed against their damaged ship. Doran and Ganya soon learned that the humans were Jedi knights on their return home trip from a secret mission, which they kept a secret. They said it was not Doran’s business to know and that it would be best if he would not tell anyone of their true identities.
As days went by, the strongest human JedI, named Damon Zabroki, developed a keen interest in Boben. He could sense the force streaming off of the young Ortolan, even though the little one was so young! He spoke to Boben occasionally, asking him questions and learning more about the small blue alien child. He soon came very attached to the little one, and informed his parents of his force connection that he had deep within him. The day the Jedi vessel was fully repaired, Damon managed to convince Boben’s parents to let him become a Jedi. They knew his talents would be wasted on Orto, and wanted him to reach his full potential. But before Boben left, Doran had symbols of power written onto his son’s body like tattoos. He hoped that they would protect him, and give him courage.
Of course, Boben resisted at first. He was afraid to leave his home and family behind, but his fears and doubts were soon washed away by the training he received as a padawan underneath Damon. But first, as all force sensative children must do, Boben took the path of a youngling learning the very basics of the force. After four years of being a youngling, Damon accepted Boben a his own padawan.
As a Master, Damon was both surprised and disappointed to find that Boben did not have any talent whatsoever regarding melee combat. His skills with the light saber were very embarrassing and were considered worse than any padawan most of the other masters had taken to train. But he also realized that even though physically, he was very weak, his power with the force always bested every padwan taken for training. Boben was surpassing everyone when it came to intellect and the force, which gave Damon an idea. He decided to focus all his training on Boben’s weaknesses instead his strengths, since his connection to the force was strong and constantly growing. Day after day, Boben’s time was filled with learning light saber skills, defensive stances, etc. Boben, however, just did not have the gift for melee combat. Damon’s saber training gave him enough experience to defend himself, but they were always his weaker skills.
As Boben started to move away from a small child and closer to a full grown alien, he encountered several adventures with Damon that tested his wit, his strength, and control over his emotions. Damon’s missions had taken them both to Kashyyyk at one time during the Ortolan’s training. A wookie camp had been under attack from terentatek in the surrounding areas which were causing a great trouble to the big fur balls. Wookies have always been strong and capable fighters, and managed to hold the terentatek off on their own for a while, but soon the beasts grew larger in number and the wookies were overwhelmed. Damon’s mission was to get in, defend the wookie camps from attacks and find a way to end the attacks permanently. Boben, now a thirteen year old, went alongside his master and tended to the mission. The council believed Boben’s incredibly strong link to the force would give him great protection. So this was meant to give him experience in real combat situations, something the padwan was not entirely ready for.
The first week of staying at the wookie camps went by peacefully. Not one terentatek attacked, which Damon and Boben both found to be very strange. Those beasts did have somewhat of a connection to the force, so perhaps they sensed their arrival and were being cautious. No matter the reason, an attack finally fell upon the first wookie encampment on the eighth day of staying on Kashyyyk. Damon successfully fended off a wave of the creatures alone, but made sure Boben stayed next to him the entire time. When the attack had been stopped, Damon had them on the run. He chased them out into their own territory, into the shadow lands. This was a bad mistake. Boben and Damon were ambushed in the dark lands, and were greatly outnumbered by the force sensitive beasts. During the battle, Damon received a deadly blow to his upper torso by one of the terentateks’ tusks. With his last bit of energy, Damon unleashed a powerful wave of force energy to demolished what was left of the hostile beasts. This left him drained and weak, with only Boben to help him. So there Boben was, his Master bleeding to death and aware that some more terentatek would be coming. The worse part was that he knew he could provide no help to his master. He had no gift with healing powers.
Fear gripped him as Damon grew weaker and weaker. It was the same fear he had experienced when he left his family, and fear that never truly died in his padwan training. It was hard to fight back his fear, his anger at being so useless. His master was dieing because he lacked the strength to save him, and so for a long time Boben fought a battle within himself. His anger grew by every second Damon grew closer to dieing. But, just as he felt his fear and anger would overthrow his actions and decisions, the Jedi code rang aloud inside his mind. There is no emotion, there is peace. He kept that sentence fresh in his mind, trying to concentrate on what needed to be done. Before he could think of anything, more terentatek arrived, eager to kill their prey. Using his capable force abilities, he stripped every surrounding tree out of the ground and linked them together, forming a wall. He wrapped the wall with his mind around himself and Damon, keeping them safe from harm. Then, as luck would have it, the strongest warriors of the wookie campsites came to their rescue, fending off the remaining terentatek and nursing Damon back to health. That day, Boben learned to control his emotions and discovered he as not as useless as he had thought.
By the time he turned fifteen he was known by every Jedi Master and was spoken of often in the council chambers. His powerful connection to the force surprised them all, and immediately they considered turning him into a Jedi Knight. But other masters complained that the Ortolan was too young, and had not yet proven himself worthy of the rank of Knight. Damon was not pleased when they did not agree to grant Boben the rank of Knight because he could see Boben‘s potential growing every day, but he understood the other masters’ reasoning.
At age seventeen, Boben was given his very first mission, alone. Damon was needed for other more important business which Boben was not yet ready to be a part of. The blue alien’s first mission was to escort a group of diplomats from Dantooine (when the republic still had control over it) to Naboo. Sightings of space pirates had been spotted all over the section of space Boben needed to take to get the diplomats to Naboo. When they were edging very closely to Naboo, a group of space pirates attacked them, just as the Jedi council told Boben they would. He was not gifted with laser turrets, so he used his force powers to disable some of them, leaving a few of the ships floating in space. Of course this left Boben drained, and the pirates still managed to latch onto their star ship and climb aboard. Boben fought back with his lightsaber, even though he was poorly skilled in lightsaber combat, his skills were good enough to fend off the attackers. One by one they fell to his blade, but as Boben was dispatching the last few hostiles, a random blaster bolt smashed into one of the diplomats, killing the politician. They reached Naboo, but Boben couldn’t help to feel like he had failed. He held himself fully responsible for the death of the politician, and gave himself no mercy. He hated himself for not being able to protect them, on his very first mission that the council trusted only him to complete. Damon and the other masters had words with him, trying to convince him it was not his fault.
“Death is only a part of life,” Damon said, “we would be fools not to accept it. No one blames you, you were outnumbered and out gunned. Most of us are surprised you were able to survive.”
But Boben did not listen. In fact, he came very close to leaving the order. He never wanted a life to be lost due to his failures. His master, of course, managed to convince him to stay. But Boben’s confidence in himself was shot. He lost faith in himself, and his so called “strong connection to the force,” that his masters told him about. As the years dragged on, the pain of his “failure” became easier to deal with and at age twenty one, Boben had fully healed from his memories of losing a life. His confidence never recovered though, he constantly thought of himself as an unfit padawan, despite what the Jedi Masters said. Finally, after four years of following his master on more missions, he was given another solo assignment. At first he expressed disproval, not yet ready to take on a mission alone again. But when they told him that the mission was related to Orto, he became interested. Trandoshian slavers had landed on the ice planet looking for a place to hide, and found Boben’s old home city. They killed some of the Ortolans and imprisoned the others. Boben’s mission was to get to the planet and deal with the slavers for killing innocent Ortolans. Preferably, the council wished Boben to end the mission peacefully, but would be allowed to defend himself if needed. This mission, unknown to Boben, was meant as a test to see if he was fit to be a Jedi Knight.
Boben took a small fighter vessel to Orto. The moment he landed, the Trandoshans in his old childhood city open fired without a word. They were easily taken out, but there were more that had built a very large camp somewhere outside the city. As he was tending to a couple of greatly injured Ortolan, they recognized him and knew who he was, due to the tattoos on his body. He of course had been too young to ever remember them, but they had known him and his parents for a long time. They told him his parent were some of the Ortolan that were killed by the slavers. Doran had tried to defend the city, but they killed him and Ganya both. Boben could not help but feel a bit of anger rise up inside of him. But he calmed himself, remembering the Jedi Code. Also he remembered his master’s words from four years ago, “Death is only a part of life. We would be fools not to accept it.” So, Boben gathered what information he could and hunted down the slavers. Once he found their camp, he explained that he came in peace on behalf of the Jedi Council. He came to terms with most of the slavers, convincing them to leave the planet and never return. There were a few, however, who would not give up their slaves. They attacked Boben without warning, but were not a match for his special powers. He destroyed their blaster weapons and affected their minds with the force, leaving them in a dazed state of mind. So he managed to end the conflict with no bloodshed, and even convinced some of the trandoshans to give up the slave trade.
When Boben returned successful, they could sense the great and heroic deeds he had done. They could feel all anger within him destroyed. Only concentration, discipline, and the wish to uphold justice remained. He had taken a very large step in his Jedi training, and the masters finally agreed it was time that he became a knight. As soon as Boben turned twenty two, the youngest age at which any padawan can be a Jedi Knight, he put aside his role as a padwan and advanced to knight. Wanting to improve his strengths in the force, he chose the path of a Jedi Consulor, and has been seeking to spread peace and understanding throughout the galaxy ever since.

The chilling wind and snow rained down on Boben’s head as he left his home city in search for the Trandoshan slavers. He pulled his hood over his face, keeping the harsh wind out of his eyes. He could not help but turn his thoughts to his parents. He had only been with them for the first six years of his life, and now being twenty one he was greatly troubled over their deaths. This surprised him, since he really did not remember much about his parents, their deaths underneath the Trandoshans stashed a great since of anger in his heart. He could still remember their faces, and for a moment he wanted to see them one last time. Boben shook his head, shaking the thoughts from his mind. Such attachments were forbidden to Jedi, and he needed to focus on his mission.
After hours of searching, Boben came to the trandoshan slaver camp at the base of a tall icy ledge. He stood on top of it, looking down at his target as his robe flapped in the winds that seemed to be getting even stronger! As he watched his enemies move around in the camp, his bulky hands bulged into fists. Part of him was extremely joyful that his mission was to wipe them out. He picture their deaths in his mind one at a time, each time enjoying their pain. He shook his head again. Such thoughts led to the dark side of the force, something Boben ad never actually experienced. There is no emotion. There is peace.
Calming himself, and focusing on the protection of the surviving Ortolans, he jumped. The air screamed past him as he plummeted down to camp below. Before landing, he unleashed a wave of power from his fists that seemed make everything shake and collapse. Newly built slaver homes crashed underneath this wave of power, and some trandoshans were sent flying in the air, only to crash back down to their deaths. With a fierce but successful landing, the icy ground cracked beneath Boben once his feet reached the ground. As the trandoshans surrounded him, he grabbed his light saber and activated it. The green beam of energy shined like a star as it deflected several blaster bolts. There is no emotion… Boben cut down several trandoshans, and used the force to dispatch a group of the coming up from behind. there is peace…
After Boben destroyed the last trandoshan, everything was silent. The wind had died down and the snow had stopped falling. Only the humming of his light saber blade filled the air. He felt no anger. No hatred for the tandoshans he had just killed. He felt only sorrow. Feeling it was his duty, he paid his respects to the dead before turning back to go to his city. There, he tended to the surviving Ortolans, and then departed from his home planet a second time to return to the Jedi Counsel.
