Birth place:Ryloth, Kala'unn
Occupation:Mechanic/Slicer
Rank:Journeyman
Bio:
Ryloth
Birth - 5 years of age.
Saerit'huanne was born on the Twi’lek home world of Ryloth in the Mountain space port City of Kala’unn in the lowest levels, which are home to the most impoverished of the Twi’lek race. Her parents preferred to call her Saerith. She was the only child of Kira'huaane and Torek'huanne. Saeriths childhood was fraught with bad luck.
During Infancy she feel Ill and her parent's being poor were unable to afford the proper remedies and so she spent many months hovering between life and death. Some days appearing as if to be her last, and then at roughly a year of age the Illness receded on it's own one day disappearing altogether As a toddler she nearly drowned in one of the cities many underground ponds kept as a source of water for the Rycrit, but luckily her father was present and able to dive in after her.
At the age of four she locked herself in a Storage container where she spent four hours pounding on the sides and screaming. During the intervening time she developed a fear of very small dark spaces. She then spent the next three days pulling the small electric container apart, and putting it back together in an attempt to figure out how it worked, vowing she would never again be so helpless.
In accordance with her self imposed vow she took apart and put back together anything that sat still long enough for her to do so under her fathers guidance and with his help, who was had been a former part time mechanic. It wasn't long after this behavior began she had gained a basic grasp of mechanics even advancing on her own to the point where she could make simple repairs on various household appliances for neighbors.
Her mother and father were Rycrit herders who as time passed suffered substantial losses to their livestock until her family was reduced to the poorest of the poor. Food became more and more scarce, but trouble unfortunately did not. At the age of Five Saerith had begun to display a knack for escaping situations before things went critical.
This turned out to be a useful skill as getting caught by one of the numerous lower city gangs was always a possibility and it had dire consequences for most. The gangs of Kala’unn all thought of themselves as crime lords of their own little corners of the lower city. Harassing and threatening the resident’s of the gang’s territory, and even on occasion were known to catch stray children to be sold into slavery off world.
Her parent's warned her that if she were caught by them there was very little they could do to get her out besides buy her back which of course they didn’t have the money for.
Ryloth-Tatooine
6 - 9 Years of age.
At the young age of Six years Saerith was captured by one of the various gangs. A trap had been set for her. A trap so simple it had seemed as if it were not a trap at all but an opportunity. She had been tricked with an abandoned food cart sitting untended in the center of a small poorly lit hallway. Despite her instinct telling her to run and never look back her empty stomach pushed her onward. It happened as she attempted to grab food off the cart. A small cage fell from the darkness of the ceiling up above catching her at last, and it seemed that her reputation as escape artist had preceded her. Her cage was built sturdy and it stayed that way despite numerous attempts to disassemble it from the inside.
She spent her entire incarceration while on Ryloth in the head quarters of the gang. Then a Rodian whose name she never discovered arrived. It was not long after some sort of deal had been agreed upon that she left Ryloth, and her Parent’s behind.
Fearful of what would become of her and her parents she was forced to leave Ryloth, and she decided that if she ever escaped and came back it would be only for her parents. Already the void in her chest had appeared that she knew would only be soothed by the sight of them.
The trip aboard the ship wasn’t nearly as exciting as she had imagined it would be. Not that she had been able to see more then the inside of the cargo hold during the entire trip. She wasn't sure how long she stayed on the ship as it was impossible to keep track of time, but after what felt like years the Rodian took her too Tatooine where she was then sold to a Hutt whose name was Korintha.
Saerith being too young to become a dancer at the time was put to work doing various small tasks such as serving drinks, and cleaning the Hutts club after it had closed, but her aptitude for fixing and rebuilding things of a mechanical nature did not go unnoticed for long. Caught once spending her free time tinkering with an Archaic Severing droid similar to the ones found in the mid levels of Ryloth. The droid had been in a horrible state of disrepair only a week before but was then nearly returned to functioning capacity. Korintha seeing the possible asset of having a slave who was also a mechanic set her to work under Korintha's own poorly trained mechanic, and soon Saeriths natural aptitude saw her surpassing her would-be teach in a matter of months.
Soon after Saeriths teacher and Korintha's mechanic was fired and it was Saerith who was left to take over all the work. Better at what she did but no reason to pay her for it. Escape had become impossible despite her natural ability for it. Korintha took no chances of her escaping after Investing in her, and certainly not after she had proven herself an asset. He installed a barrier chip in the back of her right hand that would kill her via a small explosion if she attempted to leave the pre-set barriers programmed in the chip.
So she spent her days whiling away what free time she had watching ships exit the nearby hangar from the window of her small cell. While present in the compound and club Saerith became knowledgeable in two languages besides Twi'leki one being Basic and the other Rodese. She also learned the basics of Huttese, Aqualish and Gamorrese.
Korintha she gathered was not the most successful of his Race which was why his compound was so close to the hangar to begin with. Always were his patrons complaining about the noise. Engines flaring up drowning out the music, and conversation on a regular basis but Saerith took the opportunity and began to learn and recognize certain models of ships by the sounds their engines made, and it was during this time she decided she wanted to be a ship mechanic
Tattooine-Nar Shadaa
10-13 Years of age
Shortly after Saerith turned 10 a man named Witkan Natal arrived in the Hutts compound and proceeded to offer the hut vast sums of money for her. Grudgingly the Hutt finally accepted Witkans offer after a few days of negotiations. Immediately after the chip in her hand had been deactivated Saerith was taken to a small Freighter owned by Witkan. They left Tatooine that day, and he promised Saerith that they would never return.
Saerith was from that moment on free. Witkan told her she would no longer be a slave, and he offered her a position as a mechanic on his ship. She asked him then if she was not to be a slave why did he pay so much money for her. Witkan laughed and told her that he had cheated Korintha. The credits which appeared legitimate at first glance were actually nothing but a computer scam. Her second question was why he had gone through such trouble to acquire her from Korintha.
He laughed once again and told her that he had needed a mechanic, and he had heard her name mentioned at a local cantina although she would always doubt this was the whole truth. Saerith was then schooled in the arts of; Ship Mechanics, Slicing computers and piloting. Witkan being her teacher. Although not as adept in those areas as others he was still able to instill in Saerith a general knowledge of Slicing and Piloting. Saeriths own natural aptitude for mechanics soon had her instructing Witkan on matter.
Many strange adventures were had aboard the Ship. Such as only days after she had turned eleven Witkans ship had been forced to land on a small moon devoid of intelligent life. The weeks that followed Witkan taught her how to fire a blaster. At first much more interested in discovering how the blaster functioned she dissembled it. Witkan had seen the mess of part’s strewn across the ships work bench and shook his head.
Saerith being unable to reassemble the blaster meant that Witkan was forced to rely on an older model he claimed to have received from his own father as a present for his thirteenth birthday. After a close encounter with a foul tempered and very large native animal Saerith promised she would not take that blaster apart if he wished to continue teaching her how to use it. Escape from the small moon came when Saerith determined that the engines were malfunctioning due to a faulty program that did a disastrous job at regulating the power that the engine received at any one time. Finally after weeks spent reworking the program Saerith and Witkan left the small moon.
Apart from that unscheduled landing the ships engines, hyper drive and computer worked as a cohesive whole the entire time she flew with Witkan and the other close calls usually involved Korintha who they learned was still quite angry at being cheated out of such a useful slave and was looking for Witkan to either pay up, or return Saerith to him. Witkan laughed and claimed that the Hutt would never catch up with him. Slow slimy things that they were, but Saerith wasn’t so sure.
Despite Hutts slug like appearance she had seen Korintha move much quicker then she would have otherwise believed, and despite not having a knack for the criminal enterprise he was not in the least bit unintelligent.
At age twelve after a failed attempt on Witkans life during a brief stop on Ylesia Saerith figured out how the Hutt had been tracking them. He had been using what connections he had to follow the ships I.D. from port to port.
Neither Witkan nor, Saerith had the skill to change the ships transponder codes so they made there movements through the galaxy erratic and as a general rule outside of Hutt Space although this was no guarantee of evasion and Witkan abandoning the ship in favor of one whose transponder codes the Hutt didn't know wasn't happening despite Saeriths continued argument on the subject. Witkan told her that this ship has been his fathers and it was going to stay in his family for as long as he had a choice in the matter.
Witkan was continuously pulling her out of the fire time after time. He was a resourceful and clever man and Saerith came to love him as a father even going so far as to take up his last name as her own, and even abandoning her parents clan name in the process.
She had become increasingly angry at her parents over the years. She hadn’t forgotten they were incredibly poor but from what she could tell they had not even tried to find her after she had been kidnapped and given more time she came to believe that they had been glad that she had disappeared.
No doubt her father was relived he wouldn’t have to pay to feed her anymore and they had always talked of how life had been so great before she had come along. This wasn’t exactly the truth and Saerith knew it but she was hurt and wanted a reason to be angry.
Eventually she confided her feelings concerning her parents in Witkan who shrugged and told her he would never abandon her and always come to her rescue. From that moment she decided that Witkan was her father and that her parents and Ryloth were nothing but a bad and quickly fading memory
On her thirteenth birthday they stopped, for what was supposed to be a quick Visit to Nar Shadaa’s notorious red light district where Witkan purchased for her a small blaster pistol which despite its size was as lethal as its larger counter parts.
The quick stop then turned into a nightmare when a couple Aqualish thugs stopped Witkan on the way back out to the hangar, and demanded he pay Korintha the credits he owed for the slave. Witkan refused to do so, and a small fire fight ensued.
Saerith and Witkan took cover behind a set of packing crates and Witkan returned fire at the thugs. The standoff lasted for a couple minutes before Witkan was finally shot in the chest.
His last words as he looked at Saerith were to run, and never look back. She did so fleeing deep into the bowels of Nar Shadaa.
Nar Shadaa-Coruscant
14-22 years of age
in the under levels of Nar Shadaa Saerith spent months hiding, Stealing and running all the while grieving the loss of her beloved surrogate father. Despite her independent personality Saerith had come to count on his presence. He had gone to any lengths to save her and now she was once again alone. Abandoned by another person who had promised never to do so. Never fully at peace with herself for not being able to save Witkan she decided none the less that it was time for her to take care of herself.
Saerith spent six years working in the droid and swoop bike shops of Nar Shadaa all the while avoiding Korintha and his thugs who had apparently relocated from Tattooine. In this time she lived all over the red light district. Sometimes up on the top levels sleeping in the various shops she worked in. Other times she could be found deep in the refugee sector when no work was to be had, and it was in the refugee sector that she met an old Twi’lek who professed himself to be a former tattoo artist. Finding herself interested Saerith for the first time since she was six introduced herself in Twi'lek fashion lying about her clan name and calling herself "Saerit'hnatal"
Spending some of her small amount savings she had accrued over her time spent working in Nar Shadaa, and got a series of tribal tattoos the old Twi’lek said would bring her protection from those who wished to do her harm. Fairly positive that was not the truth Saerith still decided she liked the designs, and deep down she wanted to believe that the tattoos really would protect her from Korintha.
On Nar Shadaa she found herself amongst gangs once again. Only this time they weren’t the disorganized thugs of Kala’unn, but the underground muscle of the crime lords in the levels above. She made it a point after her last disastrous encounter with street gangs to give the groups a wide berth, and a healthy respect. She feared that the gangs would be hunting her on behalf of Korintha, but it seemed that his power did not reach quite so far although evading the odd bounty hunter was a part of everyday life.
During this time she made no friends, and found no allies among the many inhabitants of Nar Shadaa, nor did she long for any. She had loved her former compatriot Witkan as a father, and after having him forcefully removed from her life she saw no reason to attempt to form bonds with anyone else.
During her time spent as a droid and swoop mechanic she did all she could to research starships, and indeed worked on a few for people passing through although it wasn’t until she was seventeen years of age that she managed to barter passage off Nar Shadaa. She spent a few months working as a mechanic on a medium sized freighter which she later discovered was actually a smugglers vessel. Upon acquiring this information she gave the captain her thanks and disembarked on the city planet of Coruscant.
Upon arrival Saerith sought out sanctuary in the bowels of the planet wide city, under the impression she would be able to move unseen and unheard in the numerous abandoned lower-level buildings. This as it turned out was a mistake. A few days spent in the harsh under levels of the city once again avoiding gangs had her wishing for the dimwitted Aqualish that the Hutts seemed to employ. Craftier then any pursuer’s on Nar Shadaa had ever been Saeriths natural ability to escape was pushed to its utmost limits by the street wise gangs of the under city.
After almost a week of evading capture by a single incredibly determined gang whose territory she wandered unto without permission. She returned to the cities higher levels in search of work. Finally a small scrap shop took her up and she set to work doing the one thing she was best at, Fixing things. The scrap shop sold everything from antique droid part’s to Medium sized ship hyper drives. The proprietor of the shop offered to pay for her to get proper schooling at his own expense. Delighted she accepted the offer.
The shop’s owner was an older human by the name of Kent Ortho. He had trouble getting around which Saerith suspected was the Reason he took her on even though she wasn’t a certified mechanic, and she also suspected that secretly he was impressed by her. She was as adapt at what she did and soon his shop’s business had increased considerably as the more of his merchandise functioned then had before.
She spent her days working at the shop and attending regular classes and her nights prowling casinos using what skill she had with slicing to “Win” credits. After a few close calls in this line of work she decided she needed to work on slicing more often but in a less hazardous environment. So instead of casinos she stayed in the junk shop after closing and worked on an old slot machine she had procured for the shop. Programming the security of the old casino machine to the modern standard she spent some of her free time slicing the machine until she could do so without triggering any alarms, and she again returned to casinos where she put her slowly improving skills to work making credits.
For a few nights things went well, but then she learned the next rule of ripping off casinos. You can win too much. After Saerith won a few too many games at a casino she had visited only once or twice the owner got suspicious and Saerith had to employ her second greatest talent, running. She fled the casino with the security firing stun rounds at her back only losing them as she made for the lower levels of the city. Out of the frying pan and into the fire as she once again found herself trespassing on an incredibly persistent gang’s territory.
The ensuing chase lead through many different level and Saerith was nearly caught twice. Once when a stun round missed her by a hairsbreadth and the second time when she stumbled and nearly fell down a flight of stairs. Luckily she accidentally lead them unto an opposing gangs territory where if her trespassing had been an insult the pursuing gangs had been a spit in their face. In the ensuing brawl Saerith slipped away and managed to return to the junk shop where she promptly locked the door, and went to sleep.
After this last encounter she didn’t go anywhere near the lower levels and her days cheating casinos were behind her although she upped the security parameters on the old slot machine and continued to practice slicing on it. She then lived a safe, but rather dull life tending the shop and fixing whatever customers brought in that needed repair. Sometime the odd ship repair was requested of her, and in this fashion she spent several years. Despite the shops ever growing success the owner made no indications of raising her wages which were a pittance by most standards.
One happy event she finds memorable from her time spent on Coruscant was the day she was contacted by Kia Starseeker to see if she could fix a malfunctioning hyper drive. As it turned Saerith found herself attempting to fix a one of kind ship that consisted primarily of Prototype technology. Kia told her it was called the Sparrow and asked if she could fix it. To desperate to lose business Saerith told her she could and after a few days spent playing with both hyper drives and the engines she finally managed to get it working again.
Kia became Saeriths one and only steady costumer and even a friend of sorts over time. Always returning when the Sparrow had a problem.
A few weeks later she resigned from the small shop and quit schooling after receiving an offer to join the crew of a small vessel known as the Requiem.
Dantooine
22 Years of age-Present Day
Saerith worked on board the small freighter as a mechanic on only one delivery run to Dantooine. Where the captain then refused to pay her, and left her stranded on the planet. After spending days attempting to barter passage off Dantooine it occurred to her she didn’t have anywhere to go.
Coruscant had been as much of a Prison as Nar Shadaa so she saw no reason to go back there. Instead she took up working on various malfunctioning mechanical apparatus for the locals. Once even taking payment in the form of an old broken down Swoop. Glad to have something to work on in her free time the Swoop was quickly up and running.
Saerith had no real home to speak of on Dantooine. Using what money she had and fixing whatever needed to be fixed to get by, always was she moving from home to another helping anyone willing to put her up for awhile. Some nights she even camped out on the Plains of Dantooine although these were always tense trips for her as a Kath Hound attack was entirely possible.
Dantooine seemed a peaceful place to her with its wide open spaces. She came to love the planet for its differences from her past homes and she even considered giving up her dreams of being a Star Ship mechanic in favor of buying a house and living out the rest of her days on Dantooine but that was all forgotten from the moment the news came onward. The Sith had invaded.
The next months were a frantic time for Saerith as she hid from the Sith moving from place to place always trying to outrun the invaders. Eventually when it looked as if she were running out of places to hide she stumbled across the Underground resistance group known as the “Dantooine Liberation Army”.
She saw her chance to fight back against the Sith for attacking her home, and Joined on as a mechanic and it is with the DLA that she can be found at present.

Sparks flew off the Hyper Drive, and Saeriths Hydrospanner shot out of her hand leaving a small cut on the bottom of her right palm.
“Hey, what the-” The captain shouted “You said you knew what you were doing?” The accusatory note plane in his voice.
Saerith shook her head exasperated “I do, but I can’t do my Job unless I have all the facts. You didn’t mention you had Jumped recently. There is enough Gamma radiation in the Conductor wire to turn you, me, the ship, the landing pad and about Five hundred more yards into ash. I can’t believe control let you bring the ship in still hot like this. It needs another half-hour or so to cool off before I can open it up the rest of the way and see what’s wrong,”
Saerith shook her head. “And for trying to kill me I think I’ll be doubling my fee.” The captain had a sour look on his face but nodded all the same. Even double her fee was less then what a Licensed Mechanic would charge him.
Saerith allowed herself a mental smile. Very few captains could be tricked into believing anything of the sort had happened. This ships hyper drive wasn’t likely to quite so much damage if it went critical. It was after all a wimpy little class 5.5.
She already knew the brackets were loose, and that’s why they were having trouble. From the looks of it one or two more jumps would have the hyper drive falling out of the brackets where it would no doubt destroy the engines which could do a lot of damage, most likely destroying the ship and killing the entire crew. But she would fix that after poking around in the hyper drive, act like she was working for a bit. She was always on the lookout for at least a competent captain that wasn’t too much a pirate but those seemed to be thin on the ground. “Alright well I’ll be back in about a half hour I gotta check on some things. I don’t recommend leaving before I get a chance to fix the hyper drive. It’s pretty unstable. One more jump and you’re likely to come out of it in a few million more pieces then when you went in”
She loosed her lopsided grin at the captain who in turn looked even more sullen. Saerith was sure he was just starting to wonder if he had been hustled. Not that it mattered. He wouldn’t say anything even if he thought he had. Besides she was telling the truth. If he jumped a few more times he wouldn’t live to regret it.
